The levered-dual response(LEDAR)Coulomb-damped system attains near resonant vibration isolation by differential preloads/offsets in linear springs.It takes the advantages of both the preloads/offsets in linear springs and the guiderail friction for realizing different levels of vibration isolation.The isolation capacities are investigated on the strategies with both the horizontal and vertical guiderails,with the horizontal rail only,and without guiderails.The compressive preloads generally result in the consumption of most of the initial excitation energy so as to overcome the potential threshold.The isolation onsets at the frequency ratio of 1∓0.095 on the left-hand side(LHS)and the right-hand side(RHS)of the lever are relative to the load plate connector.The observed near resonant isolation thus makes the LEDAR system a candidate for the isolation of the mechanical systems about resonance while opening a path for simultaneous harvesterisolation functions and passive functions at extreme frequencies. 展开更多

Piecewise linear systems are prevalent in engineering practice,and can be categorized into symmetric and asymmetric piecewise linear systems.Considering that symmetry is a special case of asymmetry,it is essential to investigate the broader model,namely the asymmetric piecewise linear system.The traditional averaging method is frequently used for studying nonlinear systems,particularly symmetric piecewise linear systems,with the harmonic response of the oscillator serving as a key prerequisite for calculating steady-state solutions.However,asymmetric systems inherently exhibit nonharmonic,asymmetric responses,rendering the traditional averaging method inapplicable.To overcome this limitation,this paper introduces an improved averaging method tailored for an oscillator characterized by asymmetric gaps and springs.Unlike the traditional method,which assumes a purely harmonic response,the improved averaging method redefines the system response as a superposition of a direct current(DC)term and a first harmonic component.Herein,the DC term can be regarded as the offset induced by model asymmetry.Furthermore,the DC term is treated as a slow variable function of time,with its time derivative assumed to be zero when calculating the steady-state solution,akin to the amplitude and phase in the traditional averaging method.Numerical validation demonstrates that the responses computed in both time and frequency domains with the improved averaging method exhibit greater accuracy compared with those derived from the traditional method.Leveraging these improved results,the study also examines the parameter effect,stability,and bifurcation phenomena within the amplitude-frequency responses. 展开更多

Cu_(2)ZnSn(S,Se)_(4)(CZTSSe)is considered to be the most potential light-absorbing material to replace CuInGaSe_(2)(CIGS),but the actual photoelectric conversion efficiency of such cells is much lower than that of CIGS.One of the reasons is the high recombination rate of carriers at the interface.In this paper,in order to reduce the carrier recombination,a new solar cell structure with double absorber layers of Al-doped ZnO(AZO)/intrinsic(i)-ZnO/CdS/CZTS_(x1)Se_(1−x1)(CZTSSe_(1))/CZTS_(x2)Se_(1−x2)(CZTSSe_(2))/Mo was proposed,and the optimal conduction band offsets(CBOs)of CdS/CZTSSe_(1) interface and CZTSSe_(1)/CZTSSe_(2) interface were determined by changing the S ratio in CZTSSe_(1) and CZTSSe_(2),and the effect of thickness of CZTSSe_(1) on the performance of the cell was studied.The efficiencies of the optimized single and double absorber layers reached 17.97%and 23.4%,respectively.Compared with the single absorber layer structure,the proposed structure with double absorber layers has better cell performance. 展开更多

Absorption imaging is a fundamental technique for quantitatively extracting information from ultracold atom experiments.Since ultracold^(6)Li atoms are prepared and detected under high magnetic fields,the suitable detuning of the probe light can reach the GHz level compared to zero-field imaging.Therefore,based on the energy level structure of^(6)Li atoms and the requirements of subsequent experiments,we design a high-field imaging system with a large frequency range and good robustness,starting from the rationality of the optical layout design and employing offset locking techniques.This imaging system covers the entire crossover region from Bose–Einstein condensate to Bardeen–Cooper–Schrieffer(BEC–BCS)and realizes free switching between zero-field and high-field imaging.Additionally,by introducing a proportionality coefficient to correct for the intensity fluctuations of the probe light,we mitigate its disturbance on the statistical measurement of particle numbers in the experiment.This work not only provides a design reference for other quantum gas experiments requiring absorption imaging under strong bias magnetic fields,but also serves as an important reference for improving the imaging performance. 展开更多

AIM:To compare the visual and optical outcomes following femtosecond laser in situ keratomileusis(FS-LASIK)using an aberration neutral profile with asymmetric offset(AO)and pupil center(PC)treatments.METHODS:In this randomized double-blind clinical trial study,48(24 cases)and 38 eyes(19 cases)underwent myopic astigmatism and hyperopic astigmatism LASIK.One eye of each individual was randomly assigned to AO centration and the fellow eye underwent the PC-centered method.The clinical outcomes including uncorrected visual acuity(UCVA),best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA),safety and efficacy indexes,subjective spherical equivalent(SE)and corneal high-order aberrations(HOAs)were measured at baseline and 6mo postoperatively.RESULTS:In the myopic group,the mean preoperative SE and astigmatism were-4.12±0.87(-2.88 to-6.00)diopter(D)and-0.88±0.79(0 to-2.75)D,respectively.In the hyperopic group,the mean preoperative SE and astigmatism were 0.93±0.59(-0.25 to 2.25)D and-0.73±1.00(0 to-4.25)D,respectively.At 6mo postoperatively,the safety and efficacy indexes were similar for centration in myopic and hyperopic LASIK groups.In the myopic group,significant changes were found in horizontal trefoil(P=0.041)and oblique trefoil(P=0.031)in favor of AO centration treatment.CONCLUSION:Femtosecond-LASIK is a safe and efficacious procedure for treatment of myopic and hyperopic astigmatism.AO-centered and PC-centered approaches provide similar visual and refractive outcomes.Myopic astigmatism LASIK with AO centration leads to slightly better corneal aberration outcomes. 展开更多

Polynomial rooting based frequency offset estimation for MIMO OFDM systems

Based on the frequency domain training sequences, the polynomial-based carrier frequency offset (CFO) estimation in multiple-input multiple-output ( MIMO ) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing ( OFDM ) systems is extensively investigated. By designing the training sequences to meet certain conditions and exploiting the Hermitian and real symmetric properties of the corresponding matrices, it is found that the roots of the polynomials corresponding to the cost functions are pairwise and that both meger CFO and fractional CFO can be estimated by the direct polynomial rooting approach. By analyzing the polynomials corresponding to the cost functions and their derivatives, it is shown that they have a common polynomial factor and the former can be expressed in a quadratic form of the common polynomial factor. Analytical results further reveal that the derivative polynomial rooting approach is equivalent to the direct one in estimation at the same signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) value and that the latter is superior to the former in complexity. Simulation results agree well with analytical results. 展开更多

Spectral efficiency and energy efficiency are two important performance indicators of satellite systems. The Quasi-Constant Envelope Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing(QCE-OFDM) technique can achieve both high spectral efficiency and low peak-to-average power ratio(PAPR). Therefore, the QCE-OFDM technique is considered as a promising candidate multi-carrier technique for satellite systems. However, the Doppler effect will cause the carrier frequency offset(CFO), and the non-ideal oscillator will cause the carrier phase offset(CPO) in satellite systems. The CFO and CPO will further result in the bit-error-rate(BER) performance degradation. Hence, it is important to estimate and compensate the CFO and CPO. This paper analyzes the effects of both CFO and CPO in QCE-OFDM satellite systems. Furthermore, we propose a joint CFO and CPO estimation method based on the pilot symbols in the frequency domain. In addition, the optimal pilot symbol structure with different pilot overheads is designed according to the minimum Cramer-Rao bound(CRB) criterion. The amount of displacement along the Xuelongshan–Diancangshan–Ailaoshan structural system, southeastern T... The offset of geological bodies provides robust evidence of displacement along a fault or ductile shear zone. The amount of displacement along the Xuelongshan–Diancangshan–Ailaoshan structural system, southeastern Tibetan Plateau, is uncertain because of the lack of offset geological markers. This NNW–SSE-trending system is developed in three isolated metamorphic complexes and interjacent nonmetamorphosed rocks. They are expected to record similar post-Eocene strain, although their structural patterns should be distinct. Geological mapping in the area between the Xuelongshan and Diancangshan metamorphic complexes has revealed a small Eocene basin, the Madeng Basin, located to the west of the structural system. The sedimentary and volcanic successions of the Madeng Basin are comparable to those of the Jianchuan Basin, which is located to the east of the structural system. Zircon U–Pb geochronological and bulk geochemical data demonstrate that the volcanic rocks of both basins formed during 37–34 Ma and share the same geochemical features. These data suggest that the Madeng and Jianchuan basins previously constituted a single basin, with the distribution of high-K volcanic rocks in the basins defining an ENE–WSW-trending volcanic belt that shows a limited dextral offset of ≤20 km across the Xuelongshan–Diancangshan–Ailaoshan structural system. Therefore, the northern segment of the structural system records no evidence of large-scale lateral movement/displacement. The results suggest that the Indochina block, which is bounded by the Xuelongshan–Diancangshan–Ailaoshan structural system to the east and the Sagaing Fault to the west, has not extruded southward as a whole but rather has been deformed by pervasive crustal shortening. 展开更多

For multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems, a joint timing synchronization and frequency offset acquisition algorithm based on fractional Fourier transform (FRFT) is proposed. The linear frequency modulation signals superimposed on the data signals are used as the training signals. By performing FRFT on the received signals and searching the peak value of the FRFT results, the receiver can realize timing synchronization and frequency offset acquisition simultaneously. Compared with the existing methods, the proposed algorithm can provide better timing synchronization performance and larger frequency offset acquisition range even under multi-path channels with low signal to noise ratio. This paper presents an algorithm that aims to reduce the peak-to-average power ratio(PAPR) of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) communication systems while maintaining frequency tracking.The algorithm achieves PAPR reduction by applying the complex conjugates of the data symbol obtained from the frequency domain to cancel the phase of the data symbol.A likelihood estimator is used to obtain the sub-carrier phase error due to the residual carrier frequency offset(RCFO) using the same complex conjugates as a pilot signal.Furthermore,a joint time and frequency domain multicarrier phase locked loop(MPLL) is developed to compensate additional frequency offset.Simulation results show that this algorithm is capable of reducing PAPR without impacting the frequency tracking performance. 展开更多

The stationary response of viscoelastic dynamical system with the right unilateral nonzero offset barrier impacts subjected to stochastic excitations is investigated.First,the viscoelastic force is approximately treated as equivalent terms associated with effects.Then,the free vibro-impact(VI)system is absorbed to describe the periodic motion without impacts and quasi-periodic motion with impacts based upon the level of system energy.The stochastic averaging of energy envelope(SAEE)is adopted to seek the stationary probability density functions(PDFs).The detailed theoretical results for Van der Pol viscoelastic VI system with the right unilateral nonzero offset barrier are solved to demonstrate the important effects of the viscoelastic damping and nonzero rigid barrier impacts condition.Monte Carlo(MC)simulation is also performed to verify the reliability of the suggested approach.The stochastic P-bifurcation caused by certain system parameters is further explored.The variation of elastic modulus from negative to zero and then to positive witnesses the evolution process of stochastic P-bifurcation.From the vicinity of the common value to a wider range,the relaxation time induces the stochastic P-bifurcation in the two interval schemes. 展开更多

The problem of estimating the carrier frequency offsets in Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems with distributed transmit antennas is addressed. It is supposed that the transmit antennas are distributed while the receive antennas are still centralized, and the general case where both the time delays and the frequency offsets are possibly different for each transmit antenna is considered. The channel is supposed to be frequency flat, and the macroscopic fading is also taken into consideration. A carrier frequency offset estimator based on Maximum Likelihood (ML) is proposed, which can separately estimate the frequency offset for each transmit antenna and exploit the spatial diversity. The Cramer-Rao Bound (CRB) for synchronous MIMO (i.e., the time delays for each transmit antenna are all equal) is also derived. Simulation results are given to illustrate the per- formance of the estimator and compare it with the CRB. It is shown that the estimator can provide satisfactory frequency offset estimates and its performance is close to the CRB for the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) below 20dB. 展开更多

However, the carrier frequency offset(CFO) in CE-OFDM systems can cause errors at phase unwrapper module. In this paper, a CFO estimation scheme is proposed for CEOFDM in satellite communication system. As the null subcarrier is inherent in the conjugate symmetric symbol structure at the transmitter, the proposed scheme uses the null subcarrier as prior information to estimate the CFO at the receiver. The ideal estimation range of normalized CFO is obtained by mathematical analysis. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can estimate the CFO accurately under additive white Gaussian noise(AWGN) channel and multipath fading channel, especially for moderate and high signal-to-noise ratio(SNR). 展开更多

In this letter,the sensitivity of an uplink Multi-Tone Code-Division Multiple Access (MT-CDMA) system to the Carrier Frequency Offset (CFO) is investigated. The analytical expression for the Bit Error Rate (BER) of uplink MT-CDMA in the presence of CFO is derived in a multipath Rayleigh fading channel which is verified through simulations. Both Maximal Ratio Combining (MRC) and Equal Gain Combining (EGC) are considered in combining multipath signals in the analysis. It is found that the BER performance can be improved with the number of multipath increasing in the presence of CFO. 展开更多

This paper proposes a virtual position-offset injection based permanent magnet temperature estimation approach for permanent magnet synchronous machines(PMSMs). The concept of virtual position-offset injection is mathematically transforming the machine model to a virtual frame with a position-offset. The virtual frame temperature estimation model is derived to calculate the permanent magnet temperature(PMT) directly from the measurements with computation efficiency. The estimation model involves a combined inductance term, which can simplify the establishment of saturation compensation model with less measurements. Moreover, resistance and inverter distorted terms are cancelled in the estimation model, which can improve the robustness to the winding temperature rise and inverter distortion. The proposed approach can achieve simplified computation in temperature estimation and reduced memory usage in saturation compensation. While existing model-based approaches could be affected by either the need of resistance and inverter information or complex saturation compensation. Experiments are conducted on the test machine to verify the proposed approach under various operating conditions. 展开更多

Studies were conducted to evaluate driver injury metrics with varying crash pulse in offset crash. First, a vehicle finite element ( FE ) model and an occupant restraint system (ORS) model were developed and validated against tests; then, the crash pulse collected from the test vehicle was equivalent to a dual-trapezoid shape pulse which will be quantitatively described by six parameters and was put into the ORS model; finally, parametric studies were conducted to analyze the sensitivi- ties of parameters of equivalent crash pulse on head resultant acceleration, head injury criteria (HIC), neck axial force and chest deformation. Results showed that the second peak value of the crash pulse was statistically significant on all these injury criteria (P = 0. 001, 0. 000, 0. 000, 0. 000 re- spectively), the first peak level had a negative significantly effect on all the criteria aforementioned except the chest deformation (P = 0. 011, 0. 038, and 0. 033 respectively), and the interaction of the time-points of first and second peak values had a significant influence on head resultant acceleration (P = 0. 03 ). A higher first peak value and a lower second peak value of the crash pulse could bring deeply lower injury metrics. 展开更多

Carrier frequency offset (CFO) in MIMO-OFDM systems can be decoupled into two parts: fraction frequency offset (FFO) and integer frequency offset (IFO). The problem of IFO estimation is addressed and a new IFO estimator based on the Bayesian philosophy is proposed. Also, it is shown that the Bayesian IFO estimator is optimal among all the IFO estimators. Furthermore, the Bayesian estimator can take advantage of oversampling so that better performance can be obtained. Finally, numerical results show the optimality of the Bayesian estimator and validate the theoretical analysis. 展开更多
