Organic geochemistry studies of lake sediments from Qinghai Lake have been investigated, but some interpretations are controversial. In this study, TOC of one Holocene eolian section and δ(13)C(org) of three eolian sections were studied around Qinghai Lake. Results indicate that the TOC content in eolian deposits was low during the Early Holocene, and gradually increased to high values during the Middle and Late Holocene. The variation in TOC content of eolian deposits is different from that in the lacustrine sequence from Qinghai Lake during the Holocene. The δ(13)C(org) values in the eolian sections were relatively stable, with oscillation amplitudes of 4‰(ranging from-25.8‰ to-22.1‰), in contrast to 10‰ variation s in δ(13)C(org) values(varying from-30‰ to-20‰) in lacustrine sediments. Through comparison of TOC and δ(13)C(org) values between eolian deposits and lacustrine sediments, we can confirm indications that the organic matter in Qinghai Lake sediments during the Holocene was primarily a contribution of the aquatic species in the lake. This is significant for understanding the origin of organic matter in lake sediments on the northeastern Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau and for paleoenvironmental inferences using such proxies.展开更多

Five factors,including slope,relief amplitude,distance to river, distance to cultivated land, and distance to road, were identified through principal component analysis( PCA). The inherent relations between five factors and Di( settlement density)were modeled by regression analysis. The results are as follows.( 1) The associations among Diand slope,relief amplitude,river,road are better modeled by the exponential decay line; with the buffer distance of slope, relief amplitude, distance to river and distance to road increasing, Didecreases.( 2) The associations between Diand cultivated land are better modeled by the quadratic polynomial line; with the buffer distance of cultivated land increasing,Diincreases first, and then dramatically decreases.( 3) The area within 500 m from the road,within 500 m from the cultivated land,within 1 600 m from the river,within the relief amplitude of 30-200 m,and the area within the slope of 0°-10° are the fitting land for settlements,and it is very important to lay the mountain settlements on those optimized regions.展开更多

Wis...This paper reports that lesions of the medial frontal cortex (MFC) caused behavioral deficit in rats and that this deficit could be attenuated by a well formulated treatment with Org2766, an analog of ACTH- (4-9). Wistar rats were distributed in 3 groups: MFC lesion treated with saline (M-N); MFC lesion treated with Org2766 (MO);and sham-operation treated with saline (S). Repeated Org2766 or saline injection commenced from the day of surgery and lasted for 1 3 days. After surgery. the rats were trained in a passive avoidance task and then in an active avoidance task. MFC lesions were found to be strongly associated with behavioral deficits. The M-N group rats displayed poor retention of the passive avoidance response and showed much slower learning of the active avoidance task as compared to S group rats. The result showed that chronic Org2766 administration improved the behavioral performance of both tasks in MFC lesioned rats. The also revealed that the superoxide dismutase (SOD)activity was significantly increased in the M-O group as compared to the M-N group 15 days after surgery. The possible mechanisms related to the beneficial effect of Org2766 on cortex damage are discussed.展开更多
