Many people consider that some translators are incredibly skillful and that "perfect" translation truly exists. While this fantasy is so appealing, we must know that such things as perfect translation and omni- scient translators do not exist, and the reasons are often too subtle for people to realize. Even though the prospect of translation seems to be a little bit frustrating, it is not a hopeless field where we can still make progress. In this essay, I will first introduce what are "omniscient translator" and "perfect translation", and then I will analyze why they do not exist in real world, and why many people take these two fantasies for granted. At last, I will tell that what we can do to get improvement in translation.展开更多

It provides special modes and new ideas for the later creation of the detective stories. Suspense is embodied largely in this book. A variety of suspense interweaves, overlaps and creates the stirring effect. This thesis first introduces the lifetime of the au?thor, the typicality of the book among the same kind of detective fictions. Then it aims at explaining and analyzing the suspense set?tings from the narrative time, the narrative point of view, clues in the book and the ending of the story by using the text analysis. Atheistic roots of Jain Dharm have nourished growth, maintained viability and vitality, and kept it relevant for over the last five millennia. Unlike Judeo-Christian-Islam or Brahminical faith, it does not rely on omniscient supreme or god. Its atheistic and anti-theistic thrust is generally known, yet its followers do not call themselves Nastik (non-believers). They emphasize action-consequence relations as guide for successful behaviors with ethical conduct. The basis of their arguments follows from the Jain logic (Saptbhangi Syad Nay) of evidence based inference with multiple orthogonal affirmed assertions (Jain 2011). It conserves information by acknowledging the remaining doubt in an inference. It does not assume binary complementation to force closure for deduction with incomplete knowledge which leads to self-reference and loss of information. This approach offers a rational and practical alternative to conundrum of western atheism even though its arguments are logical and consistent with available evidence. It also obviates need to extract religious morality from social mores. Objective truth and knowledge of established generalizations is necessary but not sufficient for subjective searches to shape desires and for what the future ought to be.展开更多
