Simulated photo-degradation of fluorescent dissolved organic matter(FDOM) in Lake Baihua(BH) and Lake Hongfeng(HF) was investigated with three-dimensional excitationemission matrix(3 DEEM) fluorescence combined with the fluorescence regional integration(FRI),parallel factor(PARAFAC) analysis, and multi-order kinetic models. In the FRI analysis,fulvic-like and humic-like materials were the main constituents for both BH-FDOM and HF-FDOM.Four individual components were identified by use of PARAFAC analysis as humic-like components(C1),fulvic-like components(C2),protein-like components(C3) and unidentified components(C4).The maximum 3 DEEM fluorescence intensity of PARAFAC components C1-C3 decreased by about 60%,70% and 90%,respectively after photo-degradation.The multi-order kinetic model was acceptable to represent the photo-degradation of FDOM with correlation coefficient(Radj2)(0.963-0.998).The photo-degradation rate constants(kn) showed differences of three orders of magnitude, from 1.09 × 10-6 to 4.02 × 10-4 min-1,and half-life of multi-order model(T1/2n)ranged from 5.26 to 64.01 min.The decreased values of fluorescence index(FI) and biogenic index(BI),the fact that of percent fluorescence response parameter of Region I(PⅠ,n) showed the greatest change ratio, followed by percent fluorescence response parameter of Region II(PⅡ,n,while the largest decrease ratio was found for C3 components, and the lowest T1/2n was observed for C3,indicated preferential degradation of protein-like materials/components derived from biological sources during photodegradation. This research on the degradation of FDOM by 3 DEEM/FRI-PARAFAC would be beneficial to understanding the photo-degradation of FD OM in natural environments and accurately predicting the environmental behaviors of contaminants in the presence of FDOM. 展开更多

Matrix principal component analysis (MatPCA), as an effective feature extraction method, can deal with the matrix pattern and the vector pattern. However, like PCA, MatPCA does not use the class information of samples. As a result, the extracted features cannot provide enough useful information for distinguishing pat- tern from one another, and further resulting in degradation of classification performance. To fullly use class in- formation of samples, a novel method, called the fuzzy within-class MatPCA (F-WMatPCA)is proposed. F-WMatPCA utilizes the fuzzy K-nearest neighbor method(FKNN) to fuzzify the class membership degrees of a training sample and then performs fuzzy MatPCA within these patterns having the same class label. Due to more class information is used in feature extraction, F-WMatPCA can intuitively improve the classification perfor- mance. Experimental results in face databases and some benchmark datasets show that F-WMatPCA is effective and competitive than MatPCA. The experimental analysis on face image databases indicates that F-WMatPCA im- proves the recognition accuracy and is more stable and robust in performing classification than the existing method of fuzzy-based F-Fisherfaces. 展开更多

The characteristics of transverse free vibration of a tapered Timoshenko beam under an axially conservative compression resting on visco-Pasternak foundations are investigated by the interpolating matrix method. The research is executed in view of a three-parameter foundation which includes the eff ects of the Winkler coeffi cient, Pasternak coeffi cient and damping coeffi cient of the elastic medium. The governing equations of free vibration of a non-prismatic Timoshenko beam under an axially conservative force resting on visco-Pasternak foundations are transformed into ordinary diff erential equations with variable coeffi cients in light of the bending rotation angle and transverse displacement. All the natural frequencies orders together with the corresponding mode shapes of the beam are calculated at the same time, and a good convergence and accuracy of the proposed method is verifi ed through two numerical examples. The infl uences of foundation mechanical characteristics together with rotary inertia and shear deformation on natural frequencies of the beam with diff erent taper ratios are analyzed. A comprehensive parametric numerical study is carried out emphasizing the primary parameters that describe the dynamic property of the beam. 展开更多

Parallel kinematic machines(PKMs)have the advantages of a compact structure, high stiffness,a low moving inertia, and a high load/weight ratio.PKMs have been intensively studied since the 1980s,and are still attracting much attention.Compared with extensive researches focus on their type/dimensional synthesis,kinematic/dynamic analyses, the error modeling and separation issues in PKMs are not studied adequately, which is one of the most important obstacles in its commercial applications widely.Taking a 3-PRS parallel manipulator as an example, this paper presents a separation method of source errors for 3-DOF parallel manipulator into the compensable and non-compensable errors effectively. The kinematic analysis of 3-PRS parallel manipulator leads to its six-dimension Jacobian matrix, which can be mapped into the Jacobian matrix of actuations and constraints, and then the compensable and non-compensable errors can be separated accordingly. The compensable errors can be compensated by the kinematic calibration, while the non-compensable errors may be adjusted by the manufacturing and assembling process.Followed by the influence of the latter,i.e.,the non-compensable errors,on the pose error of the moving platform through the sensitivity analysis with the aid of the Monte-Carlo method, meanwhile, the configurations of the manipulator are sought as the pose errors of the moving platform approaching their maximum. The compensable and non-compensable errors in limited-DOF parallel manipulators can be separated effectively by means of the Jacobian matrix of actuations and constraints, providing designers with an informative guideline to taking proper measures for enhancing the pose accuracy via component tolerancing and/or kinematic calibration, which can lay the foundation for the error distinguishment and compensation. 展开更多

A modified shear-lag model accounting for the effect of the tensile stiffness of the ma, trix is proposed for solving the stress redistribution due to the failure of fibers and matrix in unidirectionally fibre-reinforced composites. The advantages of this model are simple, reasonable and accurate by comparison with the other similar modified shear-lag models. It can be further extended to study the stress redistribution with interfacial damage between fibres and matrix This paper quantitatively dis cusses the influence of the tensile stiffness ratio of matrix to fibre and of the fibre volume fraction on the stress concentration in the fibres and ma trix adjacent to cut fibres and matrix, and suggests that the influence of the matrix stiffness on the stress concentration can be neglected when the matrix stiffness is low, such as polymer matrix composites, and the fibre volume fraction is high. For other cases such as ceramic and metal matrix composites, the tensile load of the matrix cannot be neglected in the shear-lag analysis. 展开更多

Based on the method of reverberation ray matrix(MRRM), a reverberation matrix for planar framed structures composed of anisotropic Timoshenko(T) beam members containing completely hinged joints is developed for static analysis of such structures. In the MRRM for dynamic analysis, amplitudes of arriving and departing waves for joints are chosen as unknown quantities. However, for the present case of static analysis, displacements and rotational angles at the ends of each beam member are directly considered as unknown quantities. The expressions for stiffness matrices for anisotropic beam members are developed. A corresponding reverberation matrix is derived analytically for exact and unified determination on the displacements and internal forces at both ends of each member and arbitrary cross sectional locations in the structure. Numerical examples are given and compared with the finite element method(FEM) results to validate the present model. The characteristic parameter analysis is performed to demonstrate accuracy of the present model with the T beam theory in contrast with errors in the usual model based on the Euler-Bernoulli(EB) beam theory. The resulting reverberation matrix can be used for exact calculation of anisotropic framed structures as well as for parameter analysis of geometrical and material properties of the framed structures. 展开更多

Previous research revealed the positive activity of matrix metalloproteinase 7(MMP7) on migration and myelin regeneration of Schwa nn cells(SCs). However, understanding of the molecular changes and biological activities induced by increased amounts of MMP7 in SCs remains limited. To better understand the underlying molecular events, primary SCs were isolated from the sciatic nerve stump of newborn rats and cultured with 10 nM human MMP7 for 24 hours. The results of genetic testing were analyzed at a relatively relaxed threshold value(fold change ≥ 1.5 and P-value < 0.05). Upon MMP7 exposure, 149 genes were found to be upregulated in SCs, whereas 133 genes were downregulated. Gene Ontology analysis suggested that many differentially expressed molecules were related to cellular processes, single-organism processes, and metabolic processes. Kyoto Enrichment of Genes and Genomes pathway analysis further indicated the critical involvement of cell signaling and metabolism in MMP7-induced molecular regulation of SCs. Results of Ingenuity Pathway Analysis(IPA) also revealed that MMP7 regulates biological processes, molecular functions, cellular components, diseases and functions, biosynthesis, material metabolism, cell movement, and axon guidance. The outcomes of further analysis will deepen our comprehension of MMP7-induced biological changes in SCs. In consideration of the problem that the effect of conduit structure on water hammer has been ignored in the classical theory, the Poisson coupling between the fluid and the pipeline was studied and a fourteen-equation mathematical model of fluid-structure interaction(FSI)was developed. Then, the transfer matrix method(TMM)was used to calculate the modal frequency, modal shape and frequency response. The results were compared with that in experiment to verify the correctness of the TMM and the results show that the fluid-structure coupling has a greater impact on the modal frequencies than the modal shape. Finally, the influence on the response spectrum of different damping ratios was studied and the results show that the natural frequency under different damping ratios has changed little but there is a big difference for the pressure spectrum. With the decreasing of damping ratio, the damping of the system on frequency spectrum is more and more significant and the dispersion and dissipation is more and more apparent. Therefore the appropriate damping ratio should be selected to minimize the effects of the vibration of the FSI.The results provide references for the theory research of FSI in the transient process. 展开更多

This paper is concerned with the free vibration analysis of open circular cylindrical shells with either the two straight edges or the two curved edges simply supported and the remaining two edges supported by arbitrary classical boundary conditions. Based on the Donnell-Mushtari-Vlasov thin shell theory, an analytical solution of the traveling wave form along the simply supported edges and the modal wave form along the remaining two edges is obtained. With such a unidirectional traveling wave form solution, the method of the reverberation-ray matrix is introduced to derive the equation of natural frequencies of the shell with different classical boundary conditions. The exact solutions for natural frequencies of the open circular cylindrical shell are obtained with the employment of a golden section search algorithm. The calculation results are compared with those obtained by the finite element method and the methods in the available literature. The influence of length, thickness, radius, included angle, and the boundary conditions of the open circular cylindrical shell on the natural frequencies is investigated. The exact calculation results can be used as benchmark values for researchers to check their numerical methods and for engineers to design structures with thin shell components. 展开更多

Matrix swelling effect will cause the change of microstructure of coal reservoir and its permeability, which is the key factor affecting the engineering effect of CO_(2)-ECBM technology. The Sihe and Yuwu collieries are taken as research objects.Firstly, visualization reconstruction of coal reservoir is realized.Secondly, the evolution of the pore/fracture structures under different swelling contents is discussed. Then, the influence of matrix phase with different swelling contents on permeability is discussed. Finally, the mechanism of swelling effect during the CO_(2)-ECBM process is further discussed. The results show that the intra-matrix pores and matrix-edge fractures are the focus of this study, and the contacting area between matrix and pore/fracture is the core area of matrix swelling. The number of matrix particles decreases with the increase of size, and the distribution of which is isolated with small size and interconnected with large size. The swelling effect of matrix particles with larger size has a great influence on the pore/fracture structures. The number of connected pores/fractures is limited and only interconnected in a certain direction. With the increase of matrix swelling content, the number, porosity, width, fractal dimension, surface area and volume of pores/fractures decrease, and their negative contribution to absolute permeability increases from 0.368% to 0.633% and 0.868%-1.404%,respectively.With the increase of swelling content, the number of intra-matrix pores gradually decreases and the pore radius becomes shorter during the CO_(2)-ECBM process. The matrix continuously expands to the connected fractures, and the width of connected fractures gradually shorten.Under the influence of matrix swelling, the bending degree of fluid flow increases gradually,so the resistance of fluid migration increases and the permeability gradually decreases. This study shows that the matrix swelling effect is the key factor affecting CBM recovery, and the application of this effect in CO_(2)-ECBM process can be discussed. 展开更多

Traditional beamforming techniques may not accurately locate sources in scenarios with both stationary and rotating sound sources. The existence of rotating sound sources can cause blurring in the stationary beamforming map.Current algorithms for separating different moving sound sources have limited effectiveness, leading to significant residual noise, especially when the rotating source is strong enough to mask stationary sources completely. To overcome these challenges,a novel solution utilizing a virtual rotating array in the modal domain combined with robust principal component analysis is proposed to separate sound sources with different rotational speeds. This approach, named Robust Principal Component Analysis in the Modal domain(RPCA-M),investigates the performance of convex nuclear norm and non-convex Schatten-p norm to distinguish stationary and rotating sources.By comparing the errors in Cross-Spectral Matrix(CSM)recovery and acoustic imaging across different algorithms, the effectiveness of RPCA-M in separating stationary and moving sound sources is demonstrated.Importantly, this method effectively separates sound sources, even when there are significant variations in their amplitudes at different rotation speeds. 展开更多

It has the advantages of both boundary element method and compliance matrix methods: small number of inputting data, simple and convenient model, precise solution, short calculating time and requirements for a small quantity of computer memory. In comparison to the other BEM with friction problems, we obtain more precise solution and less iteration times. The influence of the shape and spatial distribution of reinforced particles on strength and damage of metal matrix composite (MMC) is investigated through finite element method under uniaxial tensile, simple shear, biaxial tensile, as well as combined tensile/shear loadings. The particle shapes change randomly from circular to regular n-sided polygon (3 ≤ n ≤ 10); the particle alignments are determined through a sequentially random number stream and the particle locations are defined through the random sequential adsorption algorithm. The ductile failure in metal matrix and brittle failure in particles are described through damage models based on the stress triaxial indicator and maximum principal stress criterion, respectively, while the debonding behavior of interface between particles and matrix is simulated through cohesive elements. The simulation results show that, under different loadings, interface debonding is the dominated failure mechanism in MMCs and plastic deformation and ductile failure of matrix also play very important roles on the failure of MMCs. 展开更多

Objective: To examine the daily life care, spiritual comfort, and fall safety care needs of the elderly in urban and rural areas of Tangshan, along with their influencing factors. Methods: From August 2022 to April 2023, an investigation was conducted among urban and rural elderly individuals aged over 75 years in Tangshan City using the Activities of Daily Living Scale, the Revised Community Elderly Fall Risk Assessment Tool, and the Loneliness Scale. Results: The study included 750 urban and 740 rural elderly individuals aged over 75 years. Matrix analysis revealed a significant proportion of fall safety care needs across various daily life and spiritual care requirements. Multiple factor analysis indicated that advanced age, lower education levels, a greater number of chronic diseases, and lower levels of family and social support were associated with higher care demands among the elderly in both urban and rural areas. These differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The elderly in urban and rural areas demonstrate a high demand for fall safety care. Particular attention should be given to individuals with lower education levels, those who are widowed, those with multiple chronic diseases, and those with low levels of family and social support to better meet the diverse care needs of this population. 展开更多

Natural soil generally exhibits significant transverse isotropy(TI)due to weathering and sedimentation, meaning that horizontal moduli differ from their vertical counterpart. The TI mechanical model is more appropriate for actual situations.Although soil exhibits material nonlinearity under earthquake excitation, existing research on the TI medium is limited to soil linearity and neglects the nonlinear response of TI sites.A 2D equivalent linear model for a layered TI half-space subjected to seismic waves is derived in the transformed wave number domain using the exact dynamic stiffness matrix of the TI medium. This study introduces a method for determining the effective shear strain of TI sites under oblique wave incidence, and further describes a systematic study on the effects of TI parameters and soil nonlinearity on site responses.Numerical results indicate that seismic responses of the TI medium significantly differ from those of isotropic sites and that the responses are highly dependent on TI parameters, particularly in nonlinear cases, while also being sensitive to incident angle and excitation intensity. Moreover, the differences in peak acceleration and waveform for various TI materials may also be amplified due to the strong nonlinearity. The study provides valuable insights for improving the accuracy of seismic response analysis in engineering applications. 展开更多
