The compatibilizer contained a long chain hydrocarbon, double bond and two polar functional groups which was capable of reacting with both LDPE and nylon-6 in the presence of initiator to form a copolymer at the interface of the two polymer phases. The extruded blends exhibited significant enhancement in their compatibility based on morphological, thermal analysis and mechanical studies. The effect of the hydrocarbon chain length and structure of the functional group of the compatibilizer was also examined. It was found that blends prepared by using the compatibilizer containing longer hydrocarbon chain and amide group had better mechanical properties.展开更多

The influences of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) in the influent, recirculation ratio, Hydraulic Residence Time (HRT) and Dissolved Oxygen (DO) concentration on the system performances were investigated. From results it could be seen that good performances have been achieved during the overall experiments periods, and COD, Total Nitrogen (TN), NH^+ -N and Suspended Solids (SS) in the effluent were 53, 16, 2 and 24 mg· L^-1, respectively, which has satisfied the first standard of wastewater discharge established by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of China. Furthermore, results showed that operation factors, viz. COD in the influent, recirculation ratio, HRT and DO concentration, all had important influences on the system performances.展开更多

Mechanical tests show that, with incorporation of 1 wt% LDHs and 0.5 wt% CNTs, the tensile modulus, the yield strength as well as the hardness of the ternary composite are greatly improved by about 230%, 128% and 110% respectively, as compared with neat PA6. This is mainly attributed to the unique, strong interactions between the CNTs and the LDHs as well as the jammed network-like structure thus formed between the nanofillers, as confirmed by the morphological observations. As compared with the binary nanocomposites, a much enhanced solid-like behavior in the terminal region of the rheological curves can clearly be observed for the ternary system, which also indicates the formation of a percolating filler network.展开更多

The structures of graft copolymers were confirmed by Fourier transfer infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction. The properties of graft copolymers were investigated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). A mechanism was proposed to explain the generation of radicals and the initiation. The effects of reaction variables, such as the initiator concentration, the ratio of 4VP to PA6, pH as well as reaction temperature and time were investigated. Graft copolymers with high grafting efficiency (〉95%) were obtained, which indicated that DPN-PA6 redox system is an efficient initiator for this graft copolymerization. The quaternized PA6-g-P4VP (QPAVP) was proved to be an excellent adsorbent to heavy metal ions.展开更多
