Improvement of stroke care should be achieved through awareness of public, especially through high-risk group. Henceforth, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of nursing intervention on improving awareness of high-risk people about stroke prevention. Methods: A quasi-experimental design was used to carry out this study, where a purposive sample of 80 adult patients at high risk for stroke were enrolled while they were attending the out-patient clinics of Zagazig University Hospitals for follow-up treatment;they were divided into two groups: case (40 patients) and control (40 patients). An interview questionnaire was used to assess patients’ knowledge regarding warning signs, risk factors, and immediate treatment;attitude;and their practice for prevention for stroke at pretest and posttest. Results: The study revealed the poor level of knowledge, bad level of preventive behavior, and negative attitude regarding stroke prevention at pre-intervention. However, after intervention, the high-risk people had fair level of knowledge with moderate practice for stroke prevention and positive attitude, with statistically significant difference between pre-post intervention and between the case and control groups. Conclusions: The study revealed that the nursing intervention seemed to change the knowledge, practice, and attitude of subjects regarding stroke prevention. This, in turn, implies that awareness of prevention of stroke and high-risk factor control could be important to reduce the burden of stroke in Egypt. Thus, further research on a larger scale is required to improve population knowledge and behavior for stroke prevention and control. 展开更多

This report presents the case of a 60-year-old woman who had stage 5 chronic kidney disease, had undergone a percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI),and was treated for 20 days using integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine(TCM/WM)nursing because of fatigue. The TCM nursing interventions used were TCM foot baths, acupoint massage, moxibustion, and phased diet adjustment;and the WM interventions were fluid management and pharmacotherapy. After the intervention, the patient’s fatigue rating on a Visual Analog Scale decreased from 8 to 4,her blood pressure had stabilized at 110-120/60-70 mmHg,and her hemoglobin and thyroid function had improved. In addition, improvements in her tongue coating and pulse were maintained 2 weeks later. Thus, integrated TCM/WM nursing may relieve post-PCI fatigue in patients. 展开更多

Objective:To assess the method of empathy intervention in nursing students in relation to the three dimensions of empathy:cognitive, affective, and behavioral. Methods:A systematic literature review was conducted following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis(PRISMA)2020 guideline.A search for articles in two databases(ScienceDirect and Taylor&Francis)revealed 99 articles. One author independently assessed articles for inclusion, resulting in 10 articles that met the inclusion criteria. Results:Based on a review of ten extracted journal articles, nine interventions showed increases in empathy, while one intervention did not show such outcomes.Four studies(the simulation-based empathic communication training intervention, the situated teaching program,high-fidelity simulation[HFS]training, and the structured empathy educational model[EEM])discussed the impact of interventions on the empathy dimension, while the remaining five only explained the impact of the intervention on empathy in general. Conclusions:The result of this study highlight the need for future research to design empathy interventions for nursing students that effectively target both the affective and behavioral dimensions of empathy. 展开更多
