To address the problems of low accuracy by the CONWEP model and poor efficiency by the Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian(CEL)method in predicting close-range air blast loads of cylindrical charges,a neural network-based simulation(NNS)method with higher accuracy and better efficiency was proposed. The NNS method consisted of three main steps.First, the parameters of blast loads, including the peak pressures and impulses of cylindrical charges with different aspect ratios(L/D)at different stand-off distances and incident angles were obtained by two-dimensional numerical simulations.Subsequently, incident shape factors of cylindrical charges with arbitrary aspect ratios were predicted by a neural network. Finally, reflected shape factors were derived and implemented into the subroutine of the ABAQUS code to modify the CONWEP model, including modifications of impulse and overpressure. The reliability of the proposed NNS method was verified by related experimental results.Remarkable accuracy improvement was acquired by the proposed NNS method compared with the unmodified CONWEP model. Moreover, huge efficiency superiority was obtained by the proposed NNS method compared with the CEL method. The proposed NNS method showed good accuracy when the scaled distance was greater than 0.2 m/kg^(1/3).It should be noted that there is no need to generate a new dataset again since the blast loads satisfy the similarity law,and the proposed NNS method can be directly used to simulate the blast loads generated by different cylindrical charges. The proposed NNS method with high efficiency and accuracy can be used as an effective method to analyze the dynamic response of structures under blast loads, and it has significant application prospects in designing protective structures. 展开更多

This review paper provides a comprehensive introduction to various numerical methods for the phase-field model used to simulate the phase separation dynamics of diblock copolymer melts.Diblock copolymer systems form complex structures at the nanometer scale and play a significant role in various applications. The phase-field model,in particular,is essential for describing the formation and evolution of these structures and is widely used as a tool to effectively predict the movement of phase boundaries and the distribution of phases over time.In this paper,we discuss the principles and implementations of various numerical methodologies for this model and analyze the strengths, limitations, stability, accuracy, and computational efficiency of each method.Traditional approaches such as Fourier spectral methods, finite difference methods and alternating direction explicit methods are reviewed,as well as recent advancements such as the invariant energy quadratization method and the scalar auxiliary variable scheme are also presented. In addition,we introduce examples of the phase-field model, which are fingerprint image restoration and 3D printing. These examples demonstrate the extensive applicability of the reviewed methods and models. 展开更多

The modeling of crack growth in three-dimensional(3D)space poses significant challenges in rock mechanics due to the complex numerical computation involved in simulating crack propagation and interaction in rock materials. In this study,we present a novel approach that introduces a 3D numerical manifold method(3D-NMM)with a geometric kernel to enhance computational efficiency.Specifically, the maximum tensile stress criterion is adopted as a crack growth criterion to achieve strong discontinuous crack growth, and a local crack tracking algorithm and an angle correction technique are incorporated to address minor limitations of the algorithm in a 3D model. The implementation of the program is carried out in Python, using object-oriented programming in two independent modules:a calculation module and a crack module.Furthermore,we propose feasible improvements to enhance the performance of the algorithm. Finally,we demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the enhanced algorithm in the 3D-NMM using four numerical examples. This study establishes the potential of the 3DNMM,combined with the local tracking algorithm, for accurately modeling 3D crack propagation in brittle rock materials. 展开更多

The 21 cm radiation of neutral hydrogen provides crucial information for studying the early universe and its evolution. To advance this research, countries have made significant investments in constructing large lowfrequency radio telescope arrays, such as the Low Frequency Array and the Square Kilometre Array Phase 1 Low Frequency. These instruments are pivotal for radio astronomy research. However, challenges such as ionospheric plasma interference, ambient radio noise, and instrument-related effects have become increasingly prominent, posing major obstacles in cosmology research. To address these issues, this paper proposes an efficient signal processing method that combines wavelet transform and mathematical morphology. The method involves the following steps:Background Subtraction:Background interference in radio observation signals is eliminated.Wavelet Transform:The signal, after removing background noise, undergoes a two-dimensional discrete wavelet transform.Threshold processing is then applied to the wavelet coefficients to effectively remove interference components.Wavelet Inversion:The processed signal is reconstructed using wavelet inversion.Mathematical Morphology:The reconstructed signal is further optimized using mathematical morphology to refine the results.Experimental verification was conducted using solar observation data from the Xinjiang Observatory and the Yunnan Observatory. The results demonstrate that this method successfully removes interference signals while preserving useful signals, thus improving the accuracy of radio astronomy observations and reducing the impact of radio frequency interference. 展开更多

As a calculation method based on the Galerkin variation, the numerical manifold method(NMM)adopts a double covering system, which can easily deal with discontinuous deformation problems and has a high calculation accuracy.Aiming at the thermo-mechanical(TM)coupling problem of fractured rock masses, this study uses the NMM to simulate the processes of crack initiation and propagation in a rock mass under the influence of temperature field, deduces related system equations, and proposes a penalty function method to deal with boundary conditions.Numerical examples are employed to confirm the effectiveness and high accuracy of this method.By the thermal stress analysis of a thick-walled cylinder(TWC),the simulation of cracking in the TWC under heating and cooling conditions, and the simulation of thermal cracking of the SwedishÄspöPillar Stability Experiment(APSE)rock column, the thermal stress, and TM coupling are obtained. The numerical simulation results are in good agreement with the test data and other numerical results, thus verifying the effectiveness of the NMM in dealing with thermal stress and crack propagation problems of fractured rock masses. 展开更多

A numerical method is proposed to calculate the eigenvalues of the Zakharov–Shabat system based on Chebyshev polynomials. A mapping in the form of tanh(ax) is constructed according to the asymptotic of the potential function for the Zakharov–Shabat eigenvalue problem. The mapping can distribute Chebyshev nodes very well considering the gradient for the potential function. Using Chebyshev polynomials, tanh(ax) mapping, and Chebyshev nodes, the Zakharov–Shabat eigenvalue problem is transformed into a matrix eigenvalue problem. This method has good convergence for the Satsuma–Yajima potential and the convergence rate is faster than the Fourier collocation method. This method is not only suitable for simple potential functions but also converges quickly for a complex Y-shape potential. It can also be further extended to other linear eigenvalue problems. 展开更多

The calculation of the factor of safety(FOS)is an important means of slope evaluation. This paper proposed an improved double strength reductionmethod(DRM)to analyze the safety of layered slopes. The physical properties of different soil layers of the slopes are different,so the single coefficient strength reduction method(SRM)is not enough to reflect the actual critical state of the slopes.Considering that the water content of the soil in the natural state is the main factor for the strength of the soil, the attenuation law of shear strength of clayey soil changing with water content is fitted. This paper also establishes the functional relationship between different reduction coefficients. Then,a USDFLD subroutine is programmed using the secondary development function of finite element software.Controlling the relationship between field variables and calculation time realizes double strength reduction applicable to the layered slope. Finally,by comparing the calculation results of different examples,it is proved that the stress and displacement distribution of the critical slope state obtained by the improved method is more realistic, and the calculated safety factor is more reliable. The newly proposedmethod considers the difference of intensity attenuation between different soil layers under natural conditions and avoids the disadvantage of the strength reduction method with uniform parameters, which provides a new idea and method for stability analysis of layered and complex slopes. 展开更多

Active surface technique is one of the key technologies to ensure the reflector accuracy of the millimeter/submillimeter wave large reflector antenna. The antenna is complex,large-scale,and high-precision equipment, and its active surfaces are affected by various factors that are difficult to comprehensively deal with.In this paper, based on the advantage of the deep learning method that can be improved through data learning,we propose the active adjustment value analysis method of large reflector antenna based on deep learning. This method constructs a neural network model for antenna active adjustment analysis in view of the fact that a large reflector antenna consists of multiple panels spliced together.Based on the constraint that a single actuator has to support multiple panels(usually 4),an autonomously learned neural network emphasis layer module is designed to enhance the adaptability of the active adjustment neural network model. The classical 8-meter antenna is used as a case study, the actuators have a mean adjustment error of 0.00252 mm,and the corresponding antenna surface error is0.00523 mm.This active adjustment result shows the effectiveness of the method in this paper. 展开更多

The in-flight calibration and performance of the Solar Disk Imager(SDI),which is a pivotal instrument of the LyαSolar Telescope onboard the Advanced Space-based Solar Observatory mission, suggested a much lower spatial resolution than expected. In this paper,we developed the SDI point-spread function(PSF)and Image Bivariate Optimization Algorithm(SPIBOA)to improve the quality of SDI images. The bivariate optimization method smartly combines deep learning with optical system modeling.Despite the lack of information about the real image taken by SDI and the optical system function, this algorithm effectively estimates the PSF of the SDI imaging system directly from a large sample of observational data.We use the estimated PSF to conduct deconvolution correction to observed SDI images, and the resulting images show that the spatial resolution after correction has increased by a factor of more than three with respect to the observed ones.Meanwhile, our method also significantly reduces the inherent noise in the observed SDI images. The SPIBOA has now been successfully integrated into the routine SDI data processing, providing important support for the scientific studies based on the data. The development and application of SPIBOA also paves new ways to identify astronomical telescope systems and enhance observational image quality. Some essential factors and precautions in applying the SPIBOA method are also discussed. 展开更多

Rock is geometrically and mechanically multiscale in nature, and the traditional phenomenological laws at the macroscale cannot render a quantitative relationship between microscopic damage of rocks and overall rock structural degradation. This may lead to problems in the evaluation of rock structure stability and safe life.Multiscale numerical modeling is regarded as an effective way to gain insight into factors affecting rock properties from a cross-scale view. This study compiles the history of theoretical developments and numerical techniques related to rock multiscale issues according to different modeling architectures, that is,the homogenization theory, the hierarchical approach, and the concurrent approach. For these approaches, their benefits, drawbacks, and application scope are underlined.Despite the considerable attempts that have been made, some key issues still result in multiple challenges. Therefore, this study points out the perspectives of rock multiscale issues so as to provide a research direction for the future. The review results show that,in addition to numerical techniques, for example,high-performance computing, more attention should be paid to the development of an advanced constitutive model with consideration of fine geometrical descriptions of rock to facilitate solutions to multiscale problems in rock mechanics and rock engineering. 展开更多

Numerical simulation is dominant in solving partial differential equations(PDEs),but balancing fine-grained grids with low computational costs is challenging.Recently, solving PDEs with neural networks(NNs)has gained interest, yet cost-effectiveness and high accuracy remain a challenge. This work introduces a novel paradigm for solving PDEs,called multi-scale neural computing(MSNC),considering spectral bias of NNs and local approximation properties in the finite difference method(FDM).The MSNC decomposes the solution with a NN for efficient capture of global scale and the FDM for detailed description of local scale, aiming to balance costs and accuracy.Demonstrated advantages include higher accuracy(10 times for 1D PDEs,20 times for 2D PDEs)and lower costs(4 times for 1D PDEs,16 times for 2D PDEs)than the standard FDM.The MSNC also exhibits stable convergence and rigorous boundary condition satisfaction, showcasing the potential for hybrid of NN and numerical method. 展开更多

Considering the challenges posed by external disturbances on carrier-based aircraft land-ing control, higher demands are required for the precision and convergence of the carrier landingcontrol system.First, this paper proposes an Adaptive Terminal Sliding Combined Super TwistingControl(ATS-STC)method to address the issues of low precision, slow convergence, and poor dis-turbance rejection capability resulting from external disturbances, such as carrier air-wake and deckmotion.By introducing a nonlinear term into the sliding surface and employing an integralapproach, the proposed ATS-STC method can ensure finite-time convergence and mitigate the chat-tering problem. An adaptive law is also utilized to estimate the external disturbances, therebyenhancing the anti-disturbance performance. Then, the stability and convergence time analysis ofthe designed controller are conducted.Based on the proposed method,an Automatic Carrier Land-ing System(ACLS)is developed to perform the carrier landing control task.Furthermore,a multi-dimensional validation is carried out.For the numerical simulation test, the Terminal Sliding ModeControl(TSMC)method and Proportion Integration Differentiation(PID)method are introducedas comparison, the quantitative assessment results show that the tracking error of TSMC and PIDcan reach 1.5 times and 2 times that of the proposed method. Finally, the Hardware-in-the-Loop(HIL)test and real flight test are conducted. All the experimental results demonstrate that the pro-posed control method is more effective and precise. 展开更多

The dynamic performance of high-speed trains is significantly influenced by sudden changes in aerodynamic loads(ADLs)when exiting a tunnel in a windy environment.Focusing on a double-track tunnel under construction in a mountain railway,we established an aerodynamic model involving a train exiting the tunnel, and verified it in the Fluent environment.Overset mesh technology was adopted to characterize the train’s movement. The flow field involving the train, tunnel, and crosswinds was simulated using the Reynolds-averaged turbulence model. Then,we built a comprehensive train-track coupled dynamic model considering the influences of ADLs,to investigate the vehicles’dynamic responses. The aerodynamics and dynamic behaviors of the train when affected by crosswinds with different velocities and directions are analyzed and discussed. The results show that the near-wall side crosswind leads to sharper variations in ADLs than the far-wall side crosswind. The leading vehicle suffers from more severe ADLs than other vehicles, which worsens the wheel-rail interaction and causes low-frequency vibration of the car body. When the crosswind velocity exceeds 20 m/s,significant wheel-rail impacts occur, and the running safety of the train worsens rapidly. 展开更多

Grouting is a widely applied technique for reinforcing fractured zones in deep soft rock tunnels.By infiltrating rock fissures, slurry materials enhance structural integrity and improve the overall stability of the surrounding rock. The performance of grouting is primarily governed by the flow behavior and diffusion extent of the slurry. This review considers recent advances in the theory and methodology of slurry flow and diffusion in fractured rock.It examines commonly used grout materials, including cement-based,chemical,and composite formulations, each offering distinct advantages for specific geological conditions.Themechanisms of reinforcement vary significantly across materials, requiring tailored application strategies. The rheological properties of grouting slurries, particularly cement-based types, have been widely modeled using classical constitutive approaches. However, the influence of time-and space-dependent viscosity evolution on slurry behavior remains underexplored.Experimental studies have provided valuable insights into slurry diffusion, yet further research is needed to capture real-time behavior under multi-scale and multi-physics coupling conditions.Similarly, current numerical simulations are largely limited to twoand three-dimensional models of single-fracture flow. These models often neglect the complexity of fracture networks and geological heterogeneity, highlighting a need for more realistic and integrated simulation frameworks.Future research should focus on:(1)fine-scale modeling of slurry hydration and mechanical reinforcement processes;(2)cross-scale analysis of slurry flow under coupled thermal, hydraulic, andmechanical fields;and(3)development of realtime,three-dimensional dynamic simulation tools to capture the full grouting process. These efforts will strengthen the theoretical foundation and practical effectiveness of grouting in complex underground environments. 展开更多

We present simulation results examining the presence and behavior of standing shocks in zero-energy low angular momentum advective accretion flows and explore their(in)stability properties, taking into account various values of specific angular momentum,λ_(0).Within the range 10-50R_(g)(where R_(g)denotes the Schwarzschild radius),shocks are discernible forλ_(0)≥1.75.In the special relativistic hydrodynamic simulation whenλ_(0)=1.80,we find the merger of two shocks resulted in a dramatic increase in luminosity. We present the impact of external and internal flow collisions from the funnel region on luminosity.Notably, oscillatory behavior characterizes shocks within 1.70≤λ_(0)≤1.80.Using free–free emission as a proxy for analysis,we show that the luminosity oscillations between frequencies of 0.1-10 Hz forλ_(0)range as 1.7≤λ_(0)≤1.80.These findings offer insights into quasiperiodic oscillation emissions from certain black hole X-ray binaries, exemplified by GX 339-4.Furthermore,for the supermassive black hole at the Milky Way's center,Sgr A*,oscillation frequencies between 10^(-6)and 10^(-5)Hz were observed. This frequency range, translating to one cycle every few days, aligns with observational data from X-ray telescopes such as Chandra,Swift, and XMM-Newton. 展开更多
