The usage characteristics of the large numerals in child language reflects both linguistic and cognitive development.The present study systematically examined Mandarin children’s naturalistic use of large numerals“bai”,“qian”,and“wan”and compared it with adult usage patterns based on a self-constructed corpus.The results revealed a significant preference for the use of“bai”over both“qian”and“wan”among children and adults alike.This shared pattern suggests that children’s acquisition of large numerals is strongly shaped by adult language input.This study addresses a critical gap in research on the acquisition of large numerals by Mandarin-speaking children,providing valuable insights for the broader theoretical framework of cross-linguistic numerical cognition. 展开更多

Numeral systems in natural languages show astonishing variety,though with very strong unifying tendencies that are increasing as many indigenous numeral systems disappear through language contact and globalization.Most numeral systems make use of a base,typically 10,less commonly 20,followed by a wide range of other possibilities.Higher numerals are formed from primitive lower numerals by applying the processes of addition and multiplication,in many languages also exponentiation;sometimes,however,numerals are formed from a higher numeral,using subtraction or division.Numerous complexities and idiosyncrasies are discussed,as are numeral systems that fall outside this general characterization,such as restricted numeral systems with no internal arithmetic structure,and some New Guinea extended body-part counting systems. 展开更多

This paper presents a method used to the numeral eddy current sensor modelling based on the genetic neural network to settle its nonlinear problem. The principle and algorithms of genetic neural network are introduced. In this method, the nonlinear model parameters of the numeral eddy current sensor are optimized by genetic neural network (GNN) according to measurement data. So the method remains both the global searching ability of genetic algorithm and the good local searching ability of neural network. The nonlinear model has the advantages of strong robustness, on-line modelling and high precision. The maximum nonlinearity error can be reduced to 0.037% by using GNN. However, the maximum nonlinearity error is 0.075% using the least square method. 展开更多

This paper presents a recognition system for the automatic quality control in industrial applications. The purpose of the system is to collect the product information (e.g. expiry-date, production identification) and verify these information for quality control. The main difficulties of the system are to make an effcient preprocessing for the acquired low resolution image and to create a simple and fast recognition method to get the product information. In this paper, we propose an effcient recognition method based on the endpoint features and structure characteristics of the numerals. The experimental results show that the proposed method is effcient, robust and reliable for recognizing machine printed numerals. The system is currently successfully working with a real application with required specifications. 展开更多

It can obtain time and frequency localization with computational complexity greatly reduced. This algorithm was applied to lightning waveforms (include chopped waveforms) parameter calculation. It simplifies the computation and the results pretreated by this algorithm are in accord with IEC1083-2 completely. It was applied in embed system successfully. Its capability in frequency restraining was researched. The validity of the algorithm was proved in theory when processing lightning waves. Through probing into the diversity of numerals' functions in language use which gives prominence to the importance of numeral translation, this paper aims to analyze the limits of numeral translation and explain the cause for these limits. The analy sis of the limits in numeral translation is guided by the principle of functional equivalence. It is discussed that in numeral transla tion, the limits on different levels of culture, image, sound and form arise when the full functional equivalence can not be achieved. Furthermore, this paper finds that the differences in culture and formal structure as well as the semantic fuzziness are three reasons for the presence of limits in numeral translation. However, the author suggests that these limits in numeral transla tion can be adjusted with the further development of research on translation methodology and the deep infiltration of different cultures. 展开更多

A method has been proposed to classify handwritten Arabic numerals in its compressed form using partitioning approach, Leader algorithm and Neural network. Handwritten numerals are represented in a matrix form. Compressing the matrix representation by merging adjacent pair of rows using logical OR operation reduces its size in half. Considering each row as a partitioned portion, clusters are formed for same partition of same digit separately. Leaders of clusters of partitions are used to recognize the patterns by Divide and Conquer approach using proposed ensemble neural network. Experimental results show that the proposed method recognize the patterns accurately. 展开更多

Impact of the Changbai Mountains'topography on spring fog over the Bohai Sea

Fog is a highly complex weather phenomenon influenced by numerous factors.This study investigated the impact of the Changbai Mountains’topography on the formation and development of spring fog in the Bohai Sea.From 12 to 14 May 2021,the Bohai region experienced a sea fog event.Utilizing Himawari-8 satellite data,ERA5 reanalysis dataset,land and sea station observations,the WRF model,a topography sensitivity experiment,and backward trajectory tracking,the influence of the Changbai Mountains’topography on the evolution of this sea fog event was assessed.Results indicated that the Changbai Mountains’topography significantly impacted the propagation and concentration of the sea fog through dual effects—namely,the Venturi Effect and Foehn Clearance Effect.Comparative simulations incorporating and excluding the Changbai Mountains revealed that its topography favored weak convergence(Venturi Effect)of low-level airflow over the Bohai Sea induced by a high-pressure system,promoting westward fog expansion.Additionally,the backward trajectory analysis further indicated that the Foehn Clearance Effect of the Changbai Mountains extended its influence far beyond the immediate lee side,contributing to significant changes in atmospheric conditions such as reductions in relative humidity and increases in potential temperature.The dry,warm foehn contributed to a reduction in the liquid water content,ultimately leading to the weakening or even dissipation of the sea fog in the region close to the Changbai Mountains.This study emphasizes the crucial role of the Changbai Mountains’topography in the development and evolution of fog,providing valuable insights for forecasting fog in regions with complex terrain. 展开更多

In addition to being driven by tidal winds,the sporadic E(Es)layers are modulated by gravity waves(GWs),although the effects are not yet comprehensively understood.In this article,we discuss the effects of mesoscale GWs on the Es layers determined by using a newly developed model,MISE-1D(one-dimensional Model of Ionospheric Sporadic E),with low numerical dissipation and high resolution.Driven by the wind fields resolved by the high-resolution version of the Whole Atmosphere Community Climate Model with thermosphere and ionosphere extension(WACCM-X),the MISE-1D simulation revealed that GWs significantly influence the evolution of the Es layer above 100 km but have a very limited effect at lower altitudes.The effects of GWs are diverse and complex,generally including the generation of fluctuating wavelike structures on the Es layer with frequencies similar to those of the GWs.The mesoscale GWs can also cause increases in the density of Es layers,or they can disperse or diffuse the Es layers and increase their thickness.In addition,the presence of GWs is a key factor in sustaining the Es layers in some cases. 展开更多

Elucidating the process mechanism in Mg-to-Al friction stir lap welding enhanced by ultrasonic vibration 被引量:3

The composite structures/components made by friction stir lap welding(FSLW)of Mg alloy sheet and Al alloy sheet are of wide application potentials in the manufacturing sector of transportation vehicles.To further improve the joint quality,the ultrasonic vibration(UV)is exerted in FSLW,and the UV enhanced FSLW(UVeFSLW)was developed for making Mg-to-Al dissimilar joints.The numerical analysis and experimental investigation were combined to study the process mechanism in Mg/Al UVeFSLW.An equation related to the temperature and strain rate was derived to calculate the grain size at different locations of the weld nugget zone,and the effect of grain size distribution on the threshold thermal stress was included,so that the prediction accuracy of flow stress was further improved.With such modified constitutive equation,the numerical simulation was conducted to compare the heat generation,temperature profiles and material flow behaviors in Mg/Al UVeFSLW/FSLW processes.It was found that the exerted UV decreased the temperature at two checking points on the tool/workpiece interface from 707/671 K in FSLW to 689/660 K in UVeFSLW,which suppressed the IMCs thickness at Mg-Al interface from 1.7μm in FSLW to 1.1μm in UVeFSLW.The exerted UV increased the horizontal materials flow ability,and decreased the upward flow ability,which resulted in the increase of effective sheet thickness/effective lap width from 2.01/3.70 mm in FSLW to 2.04/4.84 mm in UVeFSLW.Therefore,the ultrasonic vibration improved the tensile shear strength of Mg-to-Al lap joints by 18%. 展开更多

Friction stir welding(FSW)is a relatively new welding technique that has significant advantages compared to the fusion welding techniques in joining non weld able alloys by fusion,such as aluminum alloys.Three FSW seams of AA6061-T6 plates were made us-ing different FSW parameters.The structure of the FSW seams was investigated using X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron mi-croscope(SEM)and non destructive testing(NDT)techniques and their hardness was also measured.The dominated phase in the AA6061-T6 alloy and the FSW seams was theα-Al.The FSW seam had lower content of the secondary phases than the AA6061-T6 al-loy.The hardness of the FSW seams was decreased by about 30%compared to the AA6061-T6 alloy.The temperature distributions in the weld seams were also studied experimentally and numerically modeled and the results were in a good agreement. 展开更多

This study investigates the flexural performance of ultra-high performance concrete(UHPC)in reinforced concrete T-beams,focusing on the effects of interfacial treatments.Three concrete T-beam specimens were fabricated and tested:a control beam(RC-T),a UHPC-reinforced beam with a chiseled interface(UN-C-50F),and a UHPC-reinforced beam featuring both a chiseled interface and anchored steel rebars(UN-CS-50F).The test results indicated that both chiseling and the incorporation of anchored rebars effectively created a synergistic combination between the concrete T-beam and the UHPC reinforcement layer,with the UN-CS-50F exhibiting the highest flexural resistance.The cracking load and ultimate load of UN-CS-50F were 221.5%and 40.8%,respectively,higher than those of the RC-T.Finite element(FE)models were developed to provide further insights into the behavior of the UHPCreinforced T-beams,showing a maximumdeviation of just 8%when validated against experimental data.A parametric analysis varied the height,thickness,andmaterial strength of the UHPC reinforcement layer based on the validated FE model,revealing that increasing the UHPC layer thickness from 30 to 50 mm improved the ultimate resistance by 20%while reducing the UHPC reinforcement height from 440 to 300 mm led to a 10%decrease in bending resistance.The interfacial anchoring rebars significantly reduced crack propagation and enhanced stress redistribution,highlighting the importance of strengthening interfacial bonds and optimizing geometric parameters ofUHPCfor improved T-beam performance.These findings offer valuable insights for the design and retrofitting of UHPC-reinforced bridge girders. 展开更多

The graded density impactor(GDI)dynamic loading technique is crucial for acquiring the dynamic physical property parameters of materials used in weapons.The accuracy and timeliness of GDI structural design are key to achieving controllable stress-strain rate loading.In this study,we have,for the first time,combined one-dimensional fluid computational software with machine learning methods.We first elucidated the mechanisms by which GDI structures control stress and strain rates.Subsequently,we constructed a machine learning model to create a structure-property response surface.The results show that altering the loading velocity and interlayer thickness has a pronounced regulatory effect on stress and strain rates.In contrast,the impedance distribution index and target thickness have less significant effects on stress regulation,although there is a matching relationship between target thickness and interlayer thickness.Compared with traditional design methods,the machine learning approach offers a10^(4)—10^(5)times increase in efficiency and the potential to achieve a global optimum,holding promise for guiding the design of GDI. 展开更多

The in-flight calibration and performance of the Solar Disk Imager(SDI),which is a pivotal instrument of the LyαSolar Telescope onboard the Advanced Space-based Solar Observatory mission,suggested a much lower spatial resolution than expected.In this paper,we developed the SDI point-spread function(PSF)and Image Bivariate Optimization Algorithm(SPIBOA)to improve the quality of SDI images.The bivariate optimization method smartly combines deep learning with optical system modeling.Despite the lack of information about the real image taken by SDI and the optical system function,this algorithm effectively estimates the PSF of the SDI imaging system directly from a large sample of observational data.We use the estimated PSF to conduct deconvolution correction to observed SDI images,and the resulting images show that the spatial resolution after correction has increased by a factor of more than three with respect to the observed ones.Meanwhile,our method also significantly reduces the inherent noise in the observed SDI images.The SPIBOA has now been successfully integrated into the routine SDI data processing,providing important support for the scientific studies based on the data.The development and application of SPIBOA also paves new ways to identify astronomical telescope systems and enhance observational image quality.Some essential factors and precautions in applying the SPIBOA method are also discussed. 展开更多

Sporadic E(Es)layers in the ionosphere are characterized by intense plasma irregularities in the E region at altitudes of 90-130 km.Because they can significantly influence radio communications and navigation systems,accurate forecasting of Es layers is crucial for ensuring the precision and dependability of navigation satellite systems.In this study,we present Es predictions made by an empirical model and by a deep learning model,and analyze their differences comprehensively by comparing the model predictions to satellite RO measurements and ground-based ionosonde observations.The deep learning model exhibited significantly better performance,as indicated by its high coefficient of correlation(r=0.87)with RO observations and predictions,than did the empirical model(r=0.53).This study highlights the importance of integrating artificial intelligence technology into ionosphere modelling generally,and into predicting Es layer occurrences and characteristics,in particular. 展开更多

A suction casting experiment was conducted on Zr_(55)Cu_(30)Al_(10)Ni_(5)(at%)amorphous alloy.Using ProCAST software,numerical simulations were performed to analyze the filling and solidification processes.The velocity field during the filling process and the temperature field during the solidification process of the alloy melt under different process parameters were obtained.Based on the simulation results,a Zr-based amorphous alloy micro-gear was prepared via casting.The results indicate that increasing the suction casting temperature enhances the fluidity of alloy melt but induces unstable flow rate during filling,which is detrimental to complete filling.Zr-based amorphous micro-gears with a module of 0.6 mm,a tooth top diameter of 8 mm,and 10 teeth were prepared through the suction casting.X-ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry analyses confirm that the fabricated micro-gear exhibits characteristic amorphous structural features,demonstrating well-defined geometrical contours and satisfactory forming completeness. 展开更多

Ice load on underwater vehicles breaking through ice covers from underneath is a significant concern for researchers in polar exploration,and the research on this problem is still in its early stages.Both mechanical experimental measurement and numerical simulation pose research challenges.This study focuses on the ice load of a cylinder structure breaking upward through the ice sheet form underneath in the Small Ice Model Basin of China Ship Scientific Research Center(CSSRC SIMB).A high-speed camera system was employed to observe the ice sheet failure during the tests,in which,with the loading position as center,local radial cracks and circumferential cracks were generated.A load sensor was used to measure the overall ice load during this process.Meanwhile,a numerical model was developed using LS-DYNA for validation and comparison.With this model,numerical simulation was conducted under various ice thicknesses and upgoing speeds to analyze the instantaneous curves of ice load.The calculation results were statistically analyzed under different working conditions to determine the influence of the factors on the ice load of the cylinder.The study explores the measurement method about ice load of objects vertically breaking through model ice sheet and is expected to provide some fundamental insights into the safety design of underwater structures operating in ice waters. 展开更多
