Dry reforming of methane(DRM)converts CH4 and CO_(2) to syngas.Photothermal DRM,which integrates temperature and light,is a sustainable method for storing solar energy in molecules. However, challenges such as limited light absorption, low photocarrier separation efficiency,Ni sintering, and carbon deposition hinder DRM stability.Herein,we regulated Ni contents in(Ni/Ce_(0.8)Zr_(0.2)O_(2))@SiO_(2) catalysts to enhance the optical characteristics while addressing Ni sintering and carbon deposition issues.The(3Ni/Ce_(0.8)Zr_(0.2)O_(2))@SiO_(2) catalyst had insufficient Ni content, while the(9Ni/Ce_(0.8)Zr_(0.2)O_(2))@SiO_(2) catalyst showed excessive carbon deposition, leading to lower stability compared to the(6Ni/Ce_(0.8)Zr_(0.2)O_(2))@SiO_(2) catalyst, which achieved CH4 and CO_(2) rates to 231.0 μmol gcat^(-1)s^(-1) and 294.3 μmol gcat^(-1)s^(-1) ,respectively,at 973 K,with only 0.2 wt.%carbon deposition and no Ni sintering. This work adjusted Ni contents in(Ni/Ce_(0.8)Zr_(0.2)O_(2))@SiO_(2) catalysts to enhance DRM performance, which has implications for improving other reactions. 展开更多

The Ni single-atom catalyst dispersed on nitrogen doped graphene support has attracted much interest due to the high selectivity in electro-catalyzing CO_(2)reduction to CO,yet the chemical inertness of the metal center renders it to exhibit electrochemical activity only under high overpotentials.Herein,we report P-and S-doped Ni single-atom catalysts,i.e.symmetric Ni_(1)/PN_(4)and asymmetric Ni1/SN_(3)C can exhibit high catalytic activity of CO_(2)reduction with stable potential windows. It is revealed that the key intermediate*COOH in CO_(2)electroreduction is stabilized by heteroatom doping, which stems from the upward shift of the axial d_(z2)orbital of the active metal Ni atom.Furthermore,we investigate the potential-dependent free energetics and dynamic properties at the electrochemical interface on the Ni1/SN3C catalyst using ab initio molecular dynamics simulations with a full explicit solvent model.Based on the potential-dependent microkinetic model,we predict that S-atom doped Ni SAC shifts the onset potential of CO_(2)electroreduction from–0.88 to–0.80 V vs.RHE,exhibiting better activity.Overall, this work provides an in-depth understanding of structure-activity relationships and atomic-level electrochemical interfaces of catalytic systems, and offers insights into the rational design of heteroatom-doped catalysts for targeted catalysis. 展开更多

The dry reforming of methane(DRM)reaction enables the resourceful utilization of two greenhouse gases, holding significant implications for mitigating the climate crisis and preserving ecological balance.Based on our previous systematic research on the optical and electronic properties of Ce_(1-x)Zr_(x)O_(2)catalysts,this study constructs a model of Ni13 clusters supported on the(111)surface of Ce_(1-x)Zr_(x)O_(2)(x=0,1/4,1)catalysts using density functional theory(DFT).Simulate the activation of CH_(4)molecules and the formation of product CO and H_(2)during the thermocatalytic DRM reaction. The results indicate that Ce–Zr doping optimizes the charge distribution on the catalyst surface, thereby accelerating the reaction process. The CH species react through an oxygen-assisted dehydrogenation pathway, effectively suppressing carbon deposition.By introducing an additional electric field to simulate the photogenerated carrier effect induced by light excitation, the electron transfer from the support to the active metal is enhanced. The separation and migration of photogenerated electron-hole pairs alter the adsorption configurations and transition state energies of reaction intermediates, reducing the reaction potential energy curve. This study provides a solid theoretical foundation for the development of highly efficient photothermal-coupled DRM catalysts. 展开更多

The catalytic hydrogenation of p-nitrophenol to p-aminophenol was investigated over Ni/TiO2 catalysts prepared by a liquid-phase chemical reduction method. The catalysts were characterized by inductively coupled plasma (ICP), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS) and temperature-programmed reduction (TPR). Results show that the titania structure has favorable influence on physio-chemical and catalytic properties of Ni/TiO2 catalysts. Compared to commercial Raney nickel, the catalytic activity of Ni/TiO2 catalyst is much superior, irrespective of the titania structure. The catalytic activity of anatase titania supported nickel catalyst Ni/TiO2(A) is higher than that of rutile titania supported nickel catalyst Ni/TiO2(R), possibly because the reduction of nickel oxide to metallic nickel for Ni/TiO2(A) is easier than that for Ni/TiO2(R) at similar reaction conditions. 展开更多

A titania pillared interlayered clay(Ti-PILC) supported vanadia catalyst(V2O5/TiO2-PILC) was prepared by wet impregnation for the selective catalytic reduction(SCR) of NO with ammonia. Compared to the traditional V2O5/TiO2 and V2O5-MoO3/TiO2 catalysts, the V2O5/TiO2-PILC catalyst exhibited a higher activity and better SO2 and H2O resistance in the NH3-SCR reaction. Characterization using TPD, in situ DRIFT and XPS showed that surface sulfate and/or sulfite species and ionic SO4^(2-)species were formed on the catalyst in the presence of SO2. The ionic SO4^(2-) species on the catalyst surface was one reason for deactivation of the catalyst in SCR. The formation of the ionic SO4^(2-) species was correlated with the amount of surface adsorbed oxygen species. Less adsorbed oxygen species gave less ionic SO4^(2-) species on the catalyst. 展开更多

The influence of calcination temperature on the structure and catalytic behavior of Ni/TiO2-SiO2 catalyst, for CO2 reforming of methane to synthesis gas under atmospheric pressure, was investigated. The results showed that the Ni/TiO2-SiO2 catalyst calcined at 700 ℃ had high and stable activity while the catalysts calcined at 550 and 850 ℃ had low and unstable activity. Depending on the calcination temperature, one, two, or three of the following Ni-containing species, NiO, Ni2.44Ti0.72Si0.07O4, and NiTiO3 were identified by combining the temperature programmed reduction (TPR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) results. Their reducibility decreased in the sequence: NiO〉Ni2.44Ti0.72Si0.07O4〉NiTiO3. It suggests that high and stable activities observed over the Ni/TiO2-SiO2 catalyst calcined at 700 ~C were induced by the formation of Ni2.44Ti0.72Si0.07O4 and smaller NiO species crystallite size. 展开更多

Transition metal-carbonate interfaces often act as active sites in heterogeneous catalytic reactions. The interface between transition metal and metal carbonate exhibits a dynamic equilibrium during the CO_(2)hydrogenation reaction, involving surface carbonate hydrogenation and CO_(2)chemisorption.Nonetheless,there have been few reports on engineering the activity of the interface between transition metal and alkaline earth metal carbonate for catalytic CO_(2)conversion.This work demonstrated that the incorporation of CaH_(2)in Ni/CaCO_(3)enhances the CO_(2)methanation activity of the catalysts. The CO_(2)conversion for Ni/CaH_(2)-CaCO_(3)reached 68.5%at 400°C,which was much higher than that of the Ni/CaCO_(3)(31.6%) and Ni/CaH_(2)-CaO (42.4%) catalysts.Furthermore, the Ni/CaH_(2)-CaCO_(3)catalysts remained stable during the stability test for 24 h at 400°C and 8 bar.Our research revealed that CaH_(2)played a crucial role in promoting the activity of the Ni-carbonate interface for CO_(2)methanation.CaH_(2)could modify the electronic structure of Ni and tune the structural properties of CaCO_(3)to generate medium basic sites (OH groups),which are favorable for the activation of H2and CO_(2).In-situ Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis combined with density functional theory calculations demonstrated that CO_(2)activation occurs at the hydroxyl group (OH) on the CaH_(2)-modified Ni-carbonate surface, leading to the formation of CO_(3)H*species.Furthermore,our study has confirmed that CO_(2)methanation over the Ni/CaH_(2)-CaCO_(3)catalysts proceeds via the formate pathway. 展开更多

Ni/ZrO2 catalysts were prepared by the incipient-wetness impregnation method and were investigated in activity and selectivity for the selective catalytic methanation of CO in hydrogen-rich gases with more than 20 vol% CO2. The result showed that Ni loadings significantly influenced the performance of Ni/ZrO2 catalyst. The 1.6 wt% Ni loading catalyst exhibited the highest catalytic activity among all the catalysts in the selective methanation of CO in hydrogen-rich gas. The outlet concentration of CO was less than 20 ppm with the hydrogen consumption below 7%, at a gas-hourly-space velocity as high as 10000 h-1 and a temperature range of 260 °C to 280 °C. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) and temperature programmed reduction (TPR) measurements showed that NiO was dispersed thoroughly on the surface of ZrO2 support if Ni loading was under 1.6 wt%. When Ni loading was increased to 3 wt% or above, the free bulk NiO species began to assemble, which was not favorable to increase the selectivity of the catalyst. 展开更多

Series of Mn/TiO2 catalysts modified with various contents of Nd for low-temperature SCR were synthesized. It can be found that the appropriate amount of Nd can markedly reduce the take-off temperature of Mn/TiO2 catalyst to 80℃and NOx conversion is stabilized over 90%in the wide temperature range of 100-2600 C.0.1 Nd-Mn/Ti shows higher N2 selectivity and better SO2 resistance than Mn/Ti catalyst. The results reveal that Nd-doped Mn/TiO2 catalyst exhibits larger BET surface area and better dispersion of active component Mn2O3.XPS results indicate that the optimal 0.1 Nd-Mn/Ti sample possesses higher concentration of Mn4+and larger amount of adsorbed oxygen at the surface compared with the unmodified counterpart. In situ DRIFTS show that the surface acidity is evidently increased after adding Nd,especially, the Lewis acid sites, and the intermediate(-NH2)is more stable. The reaction mechanism over Mn/Ti and 0.1 Nd-Mn/Ti catalysts obey the Eley-Rideal(E-R)mechanisms under low temperature reaction conditions.H2-TPR results show that Nd-Mn/TiO2 catalyst exhibits better lowtemperature redox properties. 展开更多

The catalytic hydrogenation of p-nitrophenol to p-aminophenol was investigated over Ni/Al2O3 catalyst on alumina support with different particle size. It is found that support particle size has significant influences on physiochemical properties and catalytic activity of the resulting Ni/Al2O3 catalyst, but little influence on the selec-tivity. At a comparable amount of Ni loading, the catalytic activity of Ni/Al2O3 prepared with alumina support of smaller particle size is lower. The reduction behavior of the catalyst is a key factor in determining the catalytic activity of Ni/Al2O3 catalyst. The deactivation of Ni/SiO2-Al2 O3 catalyst in hydrogenation of crude 1,4-butanediol was investigated.During the operation time of 2140 h,the catalyst showed slow activity decay.Characterization results, for four spent catalysts used at different time, indicated that the main reason of the catalyst deactivation was the deposition of carbonaceous species that covered the active Ni and blocked mesopores of the catalyst. The TPO and SEM measurements revealed that the carbonaceous species included both oligomeric and polymeric species with high C/H ratio and showed sheet.Such carbonaceous species might be eliminated through either direct H2 reduction or the combined oxidation-reduction methodologies. 展开更多

Ni/CeO_(2) catalysts(nCeO_(2):n_(Ni)=0,1,4,7,10)supported on SiC porous ce ramics for ethanol steam reforming(ESR)were investigated with respect to hydrogen production performance and growth of carbon deposition. The oxygen released from CeO_(2) enables the oxidation of CH_(x) species to serve as carbon precursors, thus providing Ni/CeO_(2) catalysts with stronger resistance to carbon deposition compared with Ni catalysts. The Ni/CeO_(2) catalysts prepared by inverse microemulsion and impregnation methods exhibit regular semicircular spherical shape on SiC porous ceramics.Under 500℃for 25 h of ESR reaction, the ethanol conversion rate over Ni/CeO_(2) catalysts(n_(CeO_(2)):n_(Ni)=7)is sustained up to 100%and H_(2) selectivity is essentially kept at 74%.The by-product selectivity declines stepwise with increasing content of CeO_(2),which is attributed to the adsorption and oxidation of CO and of CH_(x) species as CH_4 precursor from CeO_(2).The scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and transform electron microscopy(TEM)results reveal that further loading of CeO_(2) on the surface of Ni catalysts can alleviate both migration and sintering of Ni particles.Furthermore, carbon deposition on Ni/CeO_(2) catalysts preferentially outgrow filamentous rather than amorphous carbon, with a tendency for the latter to be more deactivated. 展开更多

Photocatalytic solar energy conversion to hydrogen is sustainable and attractive for addressing the global energy and environmental issue. Herein, a novel photocatalytic system (NiS/Ni3S4 cocatalysts modified mesoporous TiO2) with superior photocatalytic hydrogen evolution capability through the synergistic impact of NiS/Ni3S4 (NiSx) cocatalyst and efficient hole scavenger has been demonstrated. The photocatalytic hydrogen evolution of TiO2-NiSx hybrids with the different content of NiSx and upon different organic hole scavengers was both investigated. The hybrid of TiO2 decorated with 3%(mole ratio of Ni^2+) NiSx cocatalyst in methanol solution showed the optimal photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate of 981.59 μmol h^-1 g^-1 which was about 20 times higher than that of bare mesoporous TiO2. Our results suggested that the boosted hydrogen production performance is attributed to both the improved photoinduced electrons migration between NiS and Ni3S4 in cocatalyst and the high hole captured efficiency by hole scavengers of methanol. 展开更多

The purpose of this work is to explore the effects of the introduction methods of Ce^4+and Zr^4+on the physicochemical properties, activity, and K tolerance of V2 O5-WO3/TiO2 catalyst for the selective catalytic reduction of NOx by NH3.Four different methods, namely pre-impregnation,post-impregnation,coimpregnation,and co-precipitation,were used to synthesize a series of V2 O5-WO3-TiO2-CeO2-ZrO2 catalysts. The catalysts were characterized by XRD,BET,NH3-TPD,XPS,and H2-TPR techniques. Moreover, the activity and anti-K poisoning performance were tested by an NH3-SCR model reaction. The results show that the introduction of Ce^4+and Zr^4+can improve the catalytic performance of V2O5-WO3/TiO2 catalyst, but the impregnation method cannot enhance the anti-K poisoning performance.Ce^4+and Zr^4+introduced by co-precipitation method can effectively improve the tolerance of K,which is mainly due to the incorporation of Ce^4+and Zr^4+into TiO2 lattice to form a uniform TiO2-CeO2-ZrO2 solid solution, resulting in the optimal surface acidity and redox performance, and reducing the decreases caused by Kpoisoning.Furthermore, based on the best introduction method,we further optimized the molar ratio of Ce^4+/Zr^4+,It is found that the catalyst exhibits the best anti-K poisoning performance when the molar ratio of Ce^4+/Zr^4+is 2:1. 展开更多

The CO2reforming of CH4is studied over MgO‐promoted Ni catalysts, which were supported on alumina prepared from hydrotalcite. This presents an improved stability compared with non‐promoted catalysts. The introduction of the MgO promoter was achieved through the‘‘memory effect’’of the Ni‐Al hydrotalcite structure, and ICP‐MS confirmed that only0.42wt.%of Mg2+ions were added into the Ni‐Mg/Al catalyst.Although no differences in the Ni particle size and basicity strength were observed, the Ni‐Mg/Al catalyst showed a higher catalytic stability than the Ni/Al catalyst.A series of surface reaction experiments were used and showed that the addition of a MgO promoter with low concentration can promote CO2dissociation to form active surface oxygen arising from the formation of the Ni‐MgO interface sites. Therefore, the carbon‐resistance promotion by nature was suggested to contribute to an oxidative environment around Ni particles, which would increase the conversion of carbon residues from CH4cracking to yield CO on the Ni metal surface.?2018,Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics,Chinese Academy of Sciences.Published by Elsevier B.V.All rights reserved. 展开更多

Characteristics of carbon deposition of CH 4 and C 2H 4 decomposition over supported Ni and Ni Ce catalysts were studied by using a pulse reaction as well as BET, TPR, XPS and hydrogen chemisorption techniques. It is found that there is a metal semiconductor interaction (MScI) in the Ni Ce catalyst, and the effect of MScI on the carbon deposition of CH 4 decomposition is opposite to that of C 2H 4. A novel model of carbon deposition of CH 4 or C 2H 4 decomposition was proposed. 展开更多
