Patients usually present with a slowly enlarging asymptomatic swelling. Diagnosis is usually made in the early stages because of the esthetic effects. Histologically, the lesion is lined with non-keratinized squamous epithelium or, more frequently, pseudostratified columnar epithelium with goblet cells. These cysts are most often diagnosed in the fourth decade of life. However, we report a case of nasolabial cyst in an 80-year-old woman, and discuss the diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and treatment with reference to the literature.展开更多

Methods From January 2013 to December 2018 ,repairing nose and lip in median of the median upper lip flap and lower lip Abbe flap in 13 patients with secondary nasolabial deformity of cleft lip, implanting artificial nose prosthesis when necessary. Results All the flaps were survived and nose appearance was greatly improved. The shape of the upper lip turned more similar to normal. Coordination between upper lip and lower lip was appropriate. Conclusion The median upper lip flap combined with lower lip Abbe flap to repair the secondary nasolabial deformities of bilateral cleft lip is effective . Goo d cosmetic results can be obtained.展开更多

ACF provides an alternative to synthetic fillers or fat grafting with the significant advantage of producing longer lasting effect. Methods: This was a prospective open label single group clinical study to demonstrate the clinical efficacy of ACF that we have replicated in our lab. The study enrolled 18 patients with nasolabial folds from 2 centres in Malaysia in 2011-2012. ACF at dose of 23 or 92 million cells were injected on 3 occasions at 4 weeks interval. Efficacy at 6- and 12-month post treatment was assessed using a standardized 7-point scale which was performed by the 2 investigators as well as a panel of 7 independent evaluators. Results: We obtained a successful outcome (primary endpoint), defined as improvement in the appearance of the nasolabial fold of at least 2 points on the 7-point scale, in 33% of patients as assessed by investigators at 12-month follow-up and in 22% of patients assessed by independent evaluators. Investigators also found 78% of patients having had a 1-point improvement from baseline while independent evaluators found 83% of patients having improved by as much. Patients were uniformly (100%) satisfied with the improvement in their appearance. No treatment-related adverse event was reported. Baseline score and follow-up duration had significant effect on treatment response. The greater the baseline severity and the longer the post-treatment follow-up, the better the response to ACF. Larger dose of cells (92 million cells) has little additional effect suggesting that the 1 mL dose (23 million cells) is near optimal. Older patients showed a trend towards poorer response but this was not statistically significant. Conclusions: We have successfully replicated the laboratory method and clinical procedure to perform ACF treatment which was effective in improving the appearance of nasolabial folds in some patients.展开更多

Objective: To categorize the wrinkles of each individual in order to find the characteristic picture of each individual aiming to find so called a print of aging. Patients and Methods: An observational study was done on 1011 cases their ages more than 30 years. 679 subjects (67.2%) were males and 332 (32.8%) were females. Their ages ranged between 30 - 86 years. Cases attended Department of Dermatology/Baghdad Teaching Hospital, Baghdad, Iraq in period from April 2012 to April 2013. The distribution and the types of wrinkling were mapped in all individuals. Regional variations including forehead, glabellae, periorbital, nasolabial, perioral and sides of the face were well studied. Results: Forehead horizontal pattern was presented in 860 (85%) subjects, forehead vertical pattern in 84 (8.3%), glabella horizontal pattern in 705 (69.7%) and glabella vertical in 698 (69%). Periorbital pattern was presented in 885 (87.5%) subjects and nasolabial angle in 540 (53.4%). Glabella vertical and horizontal patters were significantly more in males than females. Also, the males were significantly more affected by periorbital and nasolabial folds. Conclusion: Each individual or group of individual has characteristic morphological pattern of wrinkling that starts early in life and becomes mature often with time and this pattern might deserve the name of a print.展开更多

Investigations revealed the lesion to be moderately differentiated basaloid type squamous cell carcinoma, with lung, liver and spleen metastasis. Oncologists started palliative chemotherapy for the patient. Excision of the tumour required removal of most of the nose including the lateral nasal cartilages and the nasal septum. Nasal reconstruction was done by using left nasolabial flap after deepithelialising 3 parts of it and covering that flap with a forehead flap. Residual tumour of the upper lip required further excision later on and coverage with a fan flap. The patient survived about 6 months after the surgery in a good appearance and was accepted and approached well by his family. We think that this type of reconstruction is suitable for late stages cancer nose considering the life expectancy of this category of patients.展开更多

It is classified as a fissural cyst, found outside the bone, and on the region corresponding to the nasolabial furrow and alar nose. Following its description first by Zukuerkandl in 1882, only 267 cases have been found in English literature. In spite of the low occurrence of nasolabial cysts, it is important to recognize the clinical characteristics of this lesion. The purpose of this report is to review the literature and discuss the histomorphology and etiology of this condition, and also its management by surgical excision. As per our experience, sublabial approach is the best for complete and scarless excision of this cyst.展开更多

However, no study has investigated the long-term safety and effectiveness of FACILLE. Thus, a retrospective study of 14 aesthetic clinics in China was conducted. This was the first large-scale, postmarketing study on FACILLE to evaluate the occurrence of adverse events (AEs) and provide essential information on the satisfaction of patients with FACILLE injections. This study recruited participants aged >18 years. FACILLE was injected into the NLFs on both sides of each participant’s face. The primary endpoint for safety was systemic or severe AEs at an injection site. Effectiveness was assessed on the basis of the participants’ subjective perceptions and satisfaction levels. Safety and effectiveness data were collected on the day of injection and at 2 weeks and 1, 3, 6, 9, 12, 18, 24, 30 and 36 months postinjection. In total, 1552 participants were enrolled (mean age, 29.1 years), and most of them (96.5%) were women. The mean injection volume was 1.39 ± 0.658 mL, and the average number of injections was 2.4 ± 1.68. AEs were reported by 205 participants (13.2%). All AEs occurred at local injection sites. No systemic or severe AEs were observed. Local pain was the most frequently reported AE regardless of the number of injections or the injection volume. Only eight AE cases were correlated with FACILLE administration, with two cases involving local allergic reactions. The participants self-reported that they perceived the procedure to have an effectiveness of ≥90% within 6 months postinjection although this percentage decreased substantially after 9 months. Their satisfaction level was >90% within 1 month postinjection but decreased gradually after 3 months. Our results indicate that the long-term safety of FACILLE injection is adequate. The high self-reported perceived effectiveness and satisfaction levels indicate the considerable potential of FACILLE injections for correcting NLFs.展开更多
