文摘通过与国内相关观点进行对比和资料考证,本文认为报纸参与教育工程(NIE)真正确切的起源可以说是源于美国缅因州1795年6月8日的《波特兰德东方先驱报》(the Portland (Maine) Eastern Herald)的一篇社论,而真正实践报纸参与教育(NIE)工程的则是二十世纪三、四十年代《纽约时报》(The New York Times)和《密尔沃克日报》(The Milwaukee Journal)。并在此基础上探讨报纸参与教育工程对媒介素养教育的作用。
