METHODSA systematic review of all comparative studies up to November 2016, without language restriction that were identified from MEDLINE and the Cochrane Controlled Trials Register (1960-2016), and EMBASE (1991-2016). Further searches were performed using the bibliographies of articles and abstracts from major conferences such as the ESCP, NCRI, ASGBI and ASCRS. MeSH and text word terms used included “sigmoidoscopy”, “music” and “endoscopy” and “anxiety”. All comparative studies reporting on the effect of music on anxiety or pain during flexible sigmoidoscopy, in adults, were included. Outcome data was extracted by 2 authors independently using outcome measures defined a priori. Quality assessment was performed. RESULTSA total of 4 articles published between 1994 and 2010, fulfilled the selection criteria. Data were extracted and analysed using OpenMetaAnalyst. Patients who listened to music during their flexible sigmoidoscopy had less anxiety compared to control groups [Random effects; SMD: 0.851 (0.467, 1.235), S.E = 0.196, P < 0.001]. There was no statistically significant heterogeneity (Q = 0.085, df = 1, P = 0.77, I2 = 0). Patients who listened to music during their flexible sigmoidoscopy had less pain compared to those who did not, but this difference did not reach statistical significance [Random effects; SMD: 0.345 (-0.014, 0.705), S.E = 0.183, P = 0.06]. Patients who listened to music during their flexible sigmoidoscopy felt it was a useful intervention, compared to those who did not (P < 0.001). There was no statistically significant heterogeneity (P = 0.528, I2 = 0). CONCLUSIONMusic appeared to benefit patients undergoing flexible sigmoidoscopies in relation to anxiety and was deemed a helpful intervention. Pain may also be reduced however further investigation is required to ascertain this.展开更多

Nine healthy participants (one man and eight women, aged 26 - 37 years) listened to 528 Hz and standard 440 Hz music on separate days. We measured salivary biomarkers of stress (cortisol, chromogranin A, and oxytocin) before and after exposure to music, and continuously recorded the activity of the autonomic nervous system. The Profile of Mood State, 2nd edition, was also administered as a subjective indicator of stress. In the 528 Hz condition, mean levels of cortisol significantly decreased, chromogranin A tended to decrease, and oxytocin significantly increased after music exposure. However, no significant change was observed in any salivary biomarkers in the 440 Hz condition. The ratio of low frequency to high frequency autonomic nervous system activity significantly decreased after exposure to both types of music, and the coefficient of variation of R-R intervals also significantly decreased, but only after exposure to 528 Hz music. Tension-anxiety and Total Mood Disturbance scores were significantly reduced after exposure to 528 Hz music, while there was no significant difference following 440 Hz music. These results suggest that the influence of music on the autonomic nervous system and endocrine system varies depending on the frequency of the music, and furthermore, that 528 Hz music has an especially strong stress-reducing effect, even following only five minutes of exposure.展开更多

These two sets of features can be shared by the classifier and coding module to reduce the total computational complexity, making our classification system suitable for multi-mode audio coding applications. A performance assessment and comparison of the features are made. The experiment results show that the ISFs and LSFs have similar good performance when using full covariance matrices in classification models and the ISFs perform slightly better when using diagonal matrices. Their statistical differences for speech and music signals are also revealed.展开更多

Specifically, musical performance parameters (i. e. vibrato expression) of the Waseda Flutist Robot No. 4 Refined IV (WF-4RIV) are to be manipulated. This research focused on enabling the WF-4RIV to interact with human players (musicians) in a natu- ral way. In this paper, as the first approach, a vision processing algorithm, which is able to track the 3Dorientation and position of a musical instrument, was developed. In particular, the robot acquires image data through two catneras attached to its head. Using color histogram matching and a particle filter, the position of the musician's hands on the inset are tracked. Analysis of this data determines orientation and location of the iustnment. These pa- rameters are mapped to manipulate the musical expression of the WF- 4RIV, more specifically sound vibrato and volume values. The authors present preliminary experiments to determine if the robot may dynamically change musical parameters while interacting with a human player (i.e. vibrato etc. ). From the experirnental results, they may confirm the feasibility of the interaction during the performance, although further research must be carried out to consider the physical constraints of the flutist robot.展开更多

文摘BACKGROUND Chemotherapy is the primary treatment for patients with advanced gastrointestinal cancer, but it has many adverse reactions, particularly nausea and vomiting.Music therapy can reduce anxiety symptoms, avoid the response to the human body under various stress conditions through psychological adjustment, and improve the adverse reactions of chemotherapy.AIM To investigate the impact of music therapy on relieving gastrointestinal adverse reactions in chemotherapy for patients with digestive tract cancer by metaanalysis.METHODS EMBASE,PubMed,OVID,WoS,CNKI,CBM,and VIP database were all used for searching relevant literature, and the efficacy after treatment was combined for analysis and evaluation.RESULTS This study included seven articles. The results of meta-analysis indicated that music therapy could reduce the nausea symptom score of patients after chemotherapy[mean difference(MD)=-3.15,95%confidence interval(CI):-4.62 to-1.68,Z=-4.20,P<0.0001].Music therapy could reduce the vomiting symptom score of patients after chemotherapy(MD=-2.28,95%CI:-2.46 to-2.11,Z=-25.15,P<0.0001).Furthermore,music therapy could minimize the incidence of grade I and above nausea or vomiting in patients after chemotherapy(odds ratio=0.38,95%CI:0.26-0.56,Z=-4.88,P<0.0001).Meta-regression analysis found that publication year was not a specific factor affecting the combined results. There was no significant publication bias(P>0.05).CONCLUSION Music therapy can significantly improve the scores of nausea and vomiting symptoms in patients with digestive system cancer during chemotherapy and reduce the incidence of grade I and above nausea and vomiting after chemotherapy, making it an effective psychological intervention method worthy of clinical promotion.
文摘To investigate the role of music in reducing anxiety and discomfort during flexible sigmoidoscopy. Pain may also be reduced however further investigation is required to ascertain this.
文摘This study examined the stress-reducing effect on the endocrine system and the autonomic nervous system of music with a frequency of 528 Hz, which has recently attracted attention as a “healing” type of music. These results suggest that the influence of music on the autonomic nervous system and endocrine system varies depending on the frequency of the music, and furthermore, that 528 Hz music has an especially strong stress-reducing effect, even following only five minutes of exposure.
文摘Objective:To evaluate the effectiveness of music therapy on the anxiety level and physiological response of patients undergoing ophthalmic surgery. Methods:Relevant randomized controlled trials that compared the combined effect of music therapy for patients undergoing ophthalmic surgery were included.Four English databases and three Chinese databases were searched from inception to Jan.2022.Two reviewers independently performed data extraction and risk of bias assessments. The Cochrane Collaboration tool was used to assess the risk of bias.Meta-analysis was performed using Review Manager 5.3.The outcomes were overall anxiety, blood pressure, heart rate and pain. Results:A total of 11 trials with 1,469 participants were included in the meta-analysis.Compared to standard care, music therapy had a good effect on reducing the anxiety levels of patients undergoing ophthalmic surgery(P<0.05).The results also suggested that music therapy produced a significant improvement in blood pressure(P<0.05)and heart rate(P<0.05).The visual analogue scale(VAS)showed that music therapy significantly reduced pain compared to standard care(P<0.05).Conclusions:This meta-analysis provided evidence that music therapy has an obvious effect on relieving anxiety levels, while it is also more effective in alleviating pain and improving physiological responses than standard care alone. Our findings may provide accurate evidence-based guidance for the clinical implementation of music therapy. In the future, more high-quality studies are required for verifying these results.

Background:Many original studies have shown that traditional Chinese five-element therapy(FEM-therapy)can effectively relieve anxiety, depression and quality of life. However, one published systematic review refuted this conclusion. To further clarify the efficacy of FEM therapy in relieving negative emotion among cancer patients and to assess the reliability of the evidence, this systematic review and meta-analysis was performed. Methods:We searched for randomized controlled trials(RCTs)comparing FEM-therapy versus standard care for cancer patients, six databases(CBM,PubMed,Cochrane Library,Web of Science,CNKI,and WanFang),two clinical trial registries and one gray literature database were searched from inception to October 31,2022.Two investigators independently screened literature, extracted data, and assessed risk of bias according to the Cochrane Handbook Version 6.1.0.The RevMan 5.3 software was used to perform the meta-analysis.Overall quality of evidence was rated using GRADE(Grading of Recommendations,Assessment,Development and Evaluation).Results:25 RCTs involving 1990 patients were finally included. Two of which had high risk bias, the remaining 23 were rated as unclear risk bias.Compared with other treatments,FEM-therapy combined with conventional nursing can significantly relieve anxiety(MD=-10.33,95%CI:[-13.77,-6.88],P<0.05;very low certainty)and depression(SMD=-1.10,95%CI:[-1.41,-0.79],P<0.05;very low certainty),and can significantly increase the quality of sleep(MD=-2.92,95%CI:[-4.89,-0.95],P<0.05;low certainty).Compared with acupuncture intervention,FEM-therapy combined with acupuncture can decreased the anxiety(SMD=-0.64,95%CI:[-0.98,-0.30],P<0.05;Moderate certainty)and depression(SMD=-0.68,95%CI:[-1.00,-0.32],P<0.05;Moderate certainty). Conclusion:Traditional Chinese FEM therapy combined with other treatments are effective in alleviating negative emotions among cancer patients. In order to better improve the quality of life of cancer patients and give more reliable advice, more trials of direct comparisons are needed to inform clinical decision-making with greater confidence.
文摘The immittance spectral frequencies (ISFs) is proposed as a new set of classification features and compared with the linear spectral frequencies (LSFs) applied in a frame-level wideband speech/music discrimination system. Their statistical differences for speech and music signals are also revealed.
文摘The aim of this paper is to create an interface for humanrobot interaction. The authors present preliminary experiments to determine if the robot may dynamically change musical parameters while interacting with a human player (i.e. vibrato etc. ). From the experirnental results, they may confirm the feasibility of the interaction during the performance, although further research must be carried out to consider the physical constraints of the flutist robot.
