The kernel of the method is the recursive least square (RLS) algorithm. Firstly, the geometric scattering signal is fit by using the echo signal and the incident signal. Then, the frequency spectrum of the echo signal and the geometric scattering signal are calculated. At last, the frequency spectrum of the elastic scattering signal is obtained. The research of the simulation and lake experiment is carried on. As the results show, the formants of the elastic signal frequency spectrum can be precisely extracted by the algorithm, and the extraction algorithm can apply to extracting the elastic characteristic from the echo signal in a real underwater acoustics environment.展开更多

The growing technological developments in electro/magnetomechanical couplings of smart materials have introduced a controlling degree of freedom for passive elastic metamaterials. Active elastic metamaterials could allow for a fine control of material physical behavior and thereby induce new functional properties that cannot be produced by passive approaches. In this paper, two types of active elastic metamaterials with shunted piezoelectric materials and electrorheological elastomers are proposed. Theoretical analyses and numerical validations of the active elastic metamaterials with detailed microstructures are pre- sented for designing adaptive applications in band gap structures and extraordinary waveguides. The active elastic metamaterial could provide a new design methodology for adaptive wave filters, high signal-to-noise sensors, and structural health monitoring applications.展开更多

The mesh is generated by the advancing front method and the norm stress error is taken as a posteriori error estimator for the h-type adaptive refinement. The stress intensity factors are estimated by a displacement extrapolation technique. The near crack tip displacements used are obtained from specific nodes of natural six-noded quarter-point elements which are generated around the crack tip defined by the user. The crack growth and its direction are determined by the calculated stress intensity factors. The maximum circumference theory is used for the latter. In evaluating the accuracy of the estimated stress intensity factors, four cases are tested consisting of compact tension specimen, three-point bending specimen, central cracked plate and double edge notched plate. These were carried out and compared to the results from other studies. The crack trajectories of these specimen tests are also illustrated.展开更多

METHODS: Twenty-eight Japanese white rabbits were used in this study. The right temporomandibular joints of 20 of 28 rabbits were subjected to the surgical procedure of anterior disc displacement (ADD). Four rabbits in the surgical group were sacrificed at 2, 4, 6, 8 and 12 weeks after operation. Their temporomandibular joints were studied histochemically. RESULTS: Elastic fibers were reduced in number and ran irregularly in the superior lamina of BZ from ADD rabbits. The jungly elastic fibers (EFs) could still be seen at 2 weeks after operation. At 4 weeks, the number of EFs decreased significantly; EFs lost their jungly arrangement and were shaped like rough dots, of which the arrangement and the lengths were different. Six weeks after operation, many EFs were replaced by distorted, uneven, non-oriented fine EFs, distributed unevenly and some thick or fine EFs that ran irregularly. The number of EFs decreased further and their arrangement was more deranged at 8 weeks. At 10 and 12 weeks, EFs in the superior lamina of BZ were similar to those at 8 weeks. CONCLUSION: Our results show that EFs lost their function as well as their distribution and arrangement after disc displacement.展开更多

The meshes in the methods do not need to fit the interfaces. We establish a residual-based a posteriori error estimate which is λ- independent multiplicative constants; the Lame constant λ steers the incompressibility. The error estimators are then implemented and tested with promising numerical results which will show the competitive behavior of the adaptive algorithm.展开更多
