Since the formation of solid solution composed of tricalcium phosphate and dicalcium silicate could obtain a considerable mass transfer of phosphorus from liquid slag into solid phase during hot metal dephosphorization, itcould obviously sustain a high phosphatecapacityof theliquid slag without huge consumption of lime or addition of fluxes, such as fluorite. The above outlines are the main idea of multi phase flux dephosphorization. For the last few decades, many studies have been done towards the scientific principles and the commercial utilization of this technique. However, the reaction mechanism by using multi phase fluxes remains unclear even by now due tolack of evidence. Based on those previous works, providing a reliable and available phase diagram for the fundamental understanding of the reaction mechanism of multi phase flux dephosphorization has become the main purpose of present research. As well known, the CaO-SiO2-FeO-P2O5 slag is the main component of current steelmaking process. Hence the CaO-SiO2-FeO-P2O5 system at equilibrium has been studied at 1673K with low oxygen partial pressure. The solid phase coexisting with liquid flux is approved to be the solid solution composed of CaO, SiO2 and P2O5. Phosphorus distributes mainly in solid solution rather than liquid phase.展开更多

Actually, many casting phenomena have close relationship with the multi-phase flow, such as molten metal filling process, air entrapment, slag movement, venting process of die casting, gas escaping of lost foam casting and so on. Obviously, in order to analyze these phenomena accurately, numerical simulation of the multi-phase fluid is necessary. Unfortunately, so far, most of the commercial casting simulation systems do not have the ability of multi-phase flow modeling due to the difficulty in the multi-phase flow calculation. In the paper, Finite Different Method (FDM) technique was adopt to solve the multi-phase fluid model. Due to poor miscibility of PA and ABS, developing an effective compatibilization strategy has been an urgent challenge to achieve prominent mechanical properties. In this study, we create a set of mechanically enhanced PA6/ABS blends using two multi-monomer melt-grafted compatibilizers, SEBSg-(MAH-co-St) and ABS-g-(MAH-co-St). We propose a novel explanation of the phase sequence or polymorphism of LC materials using the two key parameters, the moment of inertia and critical rotational velocity. The effect of molecular polarity on the appearance of liquid crystalline is also discussed.展开更多

Consequently, the multi-particle-(envelope)- matrix system, as a model system regarding the analytical modelling, is applicable to four types of multi-phase materials. As functions of the particle volume fraction v, the inter-particle distances dl, d2, d3 along three mutually per- pendicular axes, and the particle and envelope radii, R1 and R2, respectively, the thermal stresses within the cell, are originated during a cooling process as a consequence of the difference in thermal expansion coefficients of phases rep- resented by the matrix, envelope and particle. Analytical-(experimental)-computational lifetime prediction methods for multi-phase materials are proposed, which can be used in engineering with appropriate values of parameters of real multi-phase materials.展开更多

This article attempts to extract characteristics of the weathering pits by descriptive statistics and orientation rose diagrams, investigate the multi-phase evolution by the modified gnamma morphological analysis (GMA) method, and shed new light on the possible genesis and the influencing factors. Following the modified GMA method, weathering pits in Qing Mountain have been divided into six groups and compared with analogous sites to deduce their approximate age, which might be no older than 30 ka B.P., and explore the possibility that the multi-phase evolution of weathering pits may arise from responses to climate change. In consequence, we suggest that the combination of weathering, especially salt weathering, and wind erosion, both of which are closely related to climatic variation, take the main responsibility for the formation and development of weathering pits in Qing Mountain.展开更多

Taking an Fe-C alloy as an example, the continuous evolution of a multi-phase transformation is simulated by using this new model. In addition, the growth of grains affected by the grain orientation of the parent phase (generated in liquid-solid phase transformation) in the solid-solid phase transformation is studied. The results show that the morphology of ferrite grains which nucleate at the boundaries of the austenite grains is influenced by the orientation of the parent austenite grains. The growth rate of ferrite grains which nucleate at small-angle austenite grain boundaries is faster than those that nucleate at large-angle austenite grain boundaries. The difference of the growth rate of ferrites grains in different parent phase that nucleate at large-angle austenite grain boundaries, on both sides of the boundaries, is greater than that of ferrites nucleating at small-angle austenite grain boundaries.展开更多

The phase field method is used to capture the two-phase interface. The motion and coalescence of a pair of coaxial bubbles under an external uniform electric field and the effects of different electric field strengths on the interaction and coalescence of rising bubbles are studied. The results show that the uniform electric field accelerates the collision and coalescence process of double bubbles in the fluid, and increases the rising velocity of the coalesced bubble. The electric field with an intensity of E = 2 kV/mm is reduced about 2 times compared with that without electric field in coalescence time. When the electric field strength is strong(E ≥ 1 kV/mm), the coalesced bubble will rupture before it rises to the top of the calculation area, and the time of the bubble rupturing also decreases with the increase of the electric field strength. The phase field method is compared with the simulation results of Lattice Boltzmann Method(LBM), and the shape of bubble obtained by the two methods is in good agreement, which verifies the correctness of the calculation model.展开更多

Further, the established method is extended to simulate the constitutive relations of porous and possible multi-phase nanocrystalline materials with small plastic deformation in conjunction with the secant-moduli approach and iso-strain assumption. Comparisons between the experimental grain size and porosity dependent mechanical data and the corresponding predictions using the established model show that it appears to be capable of describing the time-independent mechanical behaviors for porous and multi-phase nanocrystalline materials in a small plastic strain range. Further discussion on the modification factor, the advantages and limitations of the model developed were present.展开更多

The dual-energy γ -ray device is composed of radioactive isotopes of 241Am and 137Cs with γ -ray energies of 59.5 and 662 keV, respectively. A rational method to calibrate the absorption coefficient was introduced in detail. The modified arithmetic is beneficial to removing the extra Compton scattering from the measured value. The result shows that the dual-energy γ -ray technique can be used in three-phase flow with average accuracy greater than 95%, which enables us to determine phase fractions almost independent of the flow regime. The results show that the micro-strain concentrates at the soft / hard phase( F / B) interface in the multi-phase steel, which should be correlated with the mechanism of incoordinate deformation. During the necking of the steel, the micro-voids initially form around the F / B interface, which also form in ferrite and bainite with the severe strain. The micro-voids in bainite are more dense and finer than those in ferrite. The failure mechanism of bainite is the coalescence of micro-voids,and the failure mechanism of ferrite is the growth and tearing of micro-voids. Due to the different failure mechanisms of ferrite and bainite,a suitable part of soft phase would be beneficial to the capability of anti-failure of F / B multi-phase steel during the ductile fracture.展开更多

With the optimal dispersing and fabricating technology, this multi-scale and multi-phase nanocomposite ceramic tool material can get both higher flexural strength and fracture toughness than that of A1203/TiC (LZ) ceramic tool material without nano-scale TiN particle, especially the fracture toughness can reach to 7.8 MPa . m^0.5. The nano-scale TiN can lead to the grain fining effect and promote the sintering process to get a higher density. The coexisting transgranular and intergranular fracture mode induced by micro-scale TiC and nano-scale TiN, and the homogeneous and densified microstructure can result in a remarkable strengthening and toughening effect. The cutting performance and wear mechanisms of the advanced multi-scale and multi-phase nanocomposite ceramic cutting tool are researched.展开更多

As an application of the newly proposed numerical method, two engineering problems, one for slope failure in unsaturated model ground and another for in situ heating test related to deep geological repository of high-level radioactive waste (HLRW), are simulated. The model tests on slope failure in unsaturated Shirasu ground, carried out by Kitamura et al. The enhanced joint phase gradient estimator can accurately and effectively extract the phase gradient information of wrapped pixels from noisy interferograms, which greatly increases the performances of the proposed method. The optimal path-following strategy ensures that the proposed algorithm simultaneously performs noise suppression and phase unwrapping along the pixels with high-reliance to the pixels with low-reliance. Accordingly, the proposed algorithm can be predicted to obtain better results, with respect to some other algorithms, as will be demonstrated by the results obtained from synthetic data.展开更多

Since commonly used metallic materials are mostly multi-component alloys, the know-how of alloying through compositional control, certainly plays a critical role in designing materials with desired structure and properties. However, alloying in multi-component alloys is an extremely complicated issue, as the alloyed products could be the amorphous phase, various solid solutions and intermetallic compounds containing two or more alloy components. By narrowing down the scope of the multi-component alloys to those with equiatomic or close-to-equiatomic compositions only, and also aiming at framing out the rules that govern the phase selection upon alloying in multi-component alloys in a broad sense, we have identified here a simple and easily executable two-parameter scheme that can effectively predict the formation of the amorphous phase, solid solutions and intermetallic compounds, in multi-component alloys, simply from the given alloy compositions. We believe this scheme reveals a clear physical scenario governing the phase selection in multi-component alloys, helps to simplify the alloy design, and benefits the future development of advanced metallic alloys like bulk metallic glasses and high entropy alloys.展开更多

文摘To determine the time-independent constitutive modeling for porous and multi- phase nanocrystalline materials and understand the effects of grain size and porosity on their mechanical behavior, each phase was treated as a mixture of grain interior and grain bound- ary, and pores were taken as a single phase, then Budiansky's self-consistent method was used to calculate the Young's modulus of porous, possible multi-phase, nanocrystalline materials, the prediction being in good agreement with the results in the literature. Further discussion on the modification factor, the advantages and limitations of the model developed were present.

文摘In this article, principle and mathematical method of determining the phase fractions of multiphase flows by using a dual-energy γ -ray system have been described. Improvement has been achieved on measurement accuracy of phase fractions.

文摘The deformation and micro-voids formation mechanisms in ferrite / bainite( F / B) multi-phase steel with the volume fraction of bainite less than 50% were studied by numerical simulation and experimental observation. Due to the different failure mechanisms of ferrite and bainite,a suitable part of soft phase would be beneficial to the capability of anti-failure of F / B multi-phase steel during the ductile fracture.

文摘An advanced ceramic cutting tool material Al2O3/TiC/TiN (LTN) is developed by incorporation and dispersion of micro-scale TiC particle and nano-scale TiN particle in alumina matrix. The cutting performance and wear mechanisms of the advanced multi-scale and multi-phase nanocomposite ceramic cutting tool are researched.
文摘In this paper, a finite element method (FEM)-based multi-phase problem based on a newly proposed thermal elastoplastic constitutive model for saturated/unsaturated geomaterial is discussed. A program of FEM named as SOFT, adopting unified field equations for thermo-hydro-mechanical-air (THMA) behavior of geomaterial and using finite element-finite difference (FE-FD) scheme for so/l-water-air three-phase coupling problem, is used in the numerical simulation. (2007), is simulated in the framework of soil-water-air three-phase coupling under the condition of constant temperature. While the in situ heating test reported by Munoz (2006) is simulated in the same framework under the conditions of variable temperature hut constant air pressure.

文摘In this article, a physics aware deep learning model is introduced for multiphase flow problems. The deep learning model is shown to be capable of capturing complex physics phenomena such as saturation front, which is even challenging for numerical solvers due to the instability. We display the preciseness of the solution domain delivered by deep learning models and the low cost of deploying this model for complex physics problems, showing the versatile character of this method and bringing it to new areas. This will require more allocation points and more careful design of the deep learning model architectures and residual neural network can be a potential candidate.

文摘This paper presents an enhanced multi-baseline phase unwrapping algorithm by combining an unscented Kalman filter with an enhanced joint phase gradient estimator based on the amended matrix pencil model, and an optimal path-following strategy based on phase quality estimate function. Accordingly, the proposed algorithm can be predicted to obtain better results, with respect to some other algorithms, as will be demonstrated by the results obtained from synthetic data.

文摘Alloying greatly expands the amount of available materials beyond the naturally existing ones, and more importantly offers the material scientists opportunities to initiatively control the composition-structure-property relationship in materials. We believe this scheme reveals a clear physical scenario governing the phase selection in multi-component alloys, helps to simplify the alloy design, and benefits the future development of advanced metallic alloys like bulk metallic glasses and high entropy alloys.
