Today, majority of employees still practice a more or less self-protective strategy. In this paper the authors have reported the results of an empirical study of factors motivating degreed potential employees to move to self-enterprising. The deciding factors to become an entrepreneur and of sustainable employment-oriented factors are analyzed in order to discover how they differ. Participants consisted of 200 students from Malaysia entered final year of business undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Self-administered questionnaires were used to gather data on factors and types of relationships influencing career choice and entrepreneurial intention. The results will serve as a basis for improvement of employment practices and promising entrepreneurial curriculum in universities to support start-ups in creating sustainable businesses.展开更多

These challenges can deter individuals from pursuing treatment or cause anxiety during the process. However, patients are motivated by the desire to improve their appearance, boost self-confidence, and enhance oral health. They also value the long-term benefits of treatment, including improved dental function and overall well-being. Professional recommendations from dentists and orthodontists, along with social support from family and friends, further encourage patients to undergo treatment. Understanding these challenges and motivating factors is crucial for orthodontic professionals to tailor treatment plans and ensure positive experiences and successful outcomes for their patients. Objective: To determine the challenges and motivating factors of orthodontic treatment among patients attending Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. Method: The study was conducted at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, Ghana, with a sample size of 60 orthodontic patients. Data was collected using self-administered questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS software. Ethical approval was obtained, and the findings were shared with stakeholders. Results: Findings showed a higher representation of females (63.3%) seeking orthodontic treatment. Common motivations for seeking orthodontic treatment included aesthetic Concerns (38.2%), misaligned teeth (28.1%) and recommendation from dentist (19.2%). Challenges reported included pain and discomfort (36.7%), difficulty chewing (15%), expensive treatment (14.4%) and missed appointments (11.7%). Factors motivating treatment continuation were visible improvements (30%), achieving optimal results (23%), reducing pain and discomfort (17%). External influences, such as family pressure, also played a role. Patients appreciated the support of healthcare providers during treatment but suggested better pain management and education. Conclusion: The study provided valuable insights into patient motivations, challenges and factors influencing satisfaction and adherence to orthodontic treatment at KATH.展开更多

EFL refusal data were collected using a written da...This paper examines the phenomenon of sociocultural transfer and its motivating factors within the realization patterns of speech act refusal by Chinese EFL learners. EFL refusal data were collected using a written data collection test (DCT), which was designed and then followed by semi-structured interviews. Using semantic formulas as units of analysis, EFL refusal responses were compared with similar data elicited from native speakers of English. The results show two areas in which sociocultural transfer is existent in EFL learners' speech: options of selecting semantic formulas and content of semantic formulas. Each was found to reflect cultural values transferred from Chinese to English. Furthermore, based on the interview data, it was found that learners' social system and political factors, traditional socio-psychological ideology and economy possibly motivate sociocultural transfer.展开更多

They are trained in this way from primary school. So by the time they enter college, not only are they accustomed to the role of submissive student following the lead of a dominant teacher, but they also quite welcome it, for they don’t have to take any initiative in class, they just wait to be filled with knowledge. Students’ hesitancy to participate actively in class comes not just from students themselves but also from some teachers, who stick to the force-feeding method because it is an easy way for them to conduct a class. So I started to try and change this situation. I designed a teaching plan in which I used different techniques to provide the students with lots of opportunities to be active participants in class. The purpose of this study was to examine the knowledge,attitude,motivation and behavior of the community before and after the experiment,and also to determine the effect of the experiment on increasing knowledge,attit...The purpose of this study was to examine the knowledge,attitude,motivation and behavior of the community before and after the experiment,and also to determine the effect of the experiment on increasing knowledge,attitude,motivation,and behavior related to the construction of family toilets in coastal areas.The study was conducted in Pangkep and Maros Regencies.Atotal of 50 heads of families were selected as participants using the purposive sampling method.25 participants became the experimental group and 25 people became the control group.The research variables included knowledge,attitudes,motivation,and behavior of the community in building family toilets before and after the experiment.Data collection through tests,questionnaires,and observations to each participant.The research instruments were knowledge tests,questionnaires,and observations.Data analysis used descriptive and inferential statistical analysis,with the t-test.The results of the study showed that based on the experiment,knowledge had a significant effect with a correlation coefficient of 0.94,attitudes had an effect of 0.91,motivation was 0.756,and behavior was 0.865.It can be concluded that the construction of family toilets in the coastal areas of Pangkep and Maros Regencies,before the experiment,the knowledge,attitudes,motivation,and behavior of the community were in the low category,and after the experiment increased significantly to the high category. In addition, the results of the analysis showed that the experiment had a significant effect on increasing theknowledge, attitudes, motivation, and behavior of the community towards the construction of family toilets in coastal areas.展开更多

With the deepening of cross-cultural educational cooperation between China and Malaysia,the cross-cultural challenges that Chinese overseas students face in Malaysia due to language and cultural differences have becom...With the deepening of cross-cultural educational cooperation between China and Malaysia,the cross-cultural challenges that Chinese overseas students face in Malaysia due to language and cultural differences have become increasingly prominent.Focusing on Chinese graduate students at a public university in Malaysia where English is the medium of instruction,this study employs a scale survey method in conjunction with IBM SPSS 26.0 and Smart PLS 4.0 for data analysis to quantitatively explore the level of language anxiety and its relationship with cross-cultural adaptability and learning motivation.The results indicate that most Chinese graduate students experience notable language anxiety,which is significantly negatively correlated with cross-cultural adaptability,especially academic adaptability,but is not related to learning motivation.Furthermore,the study reveals the complex influencing mechanism of language anxiety within multicultural educational environments and offers suggestions for improvement tailored to Malaysia’s unique educational context.These include utilizing technological tools for language interventions,optimizing classroom teaching strategies,enhancing language learning motivation through external incentives,strengthening training for cross-cultural adaptation skills,and promoting deeper cross-cultural communication.This study provides theoretical support and practical references for alleviating language anxiety and enhancing the cross-cultural adaptability of Chinese overseas students.展开更多

文摘The purpose of this study was to examine the knowledge,attitude,motivation and behavior of the community before and after the experiment,and also to determine the effect of the experiment on increasing knowledge,attitude,motivation,and behavior related to the construction of family toilets in coastal areas.The study was conducted in Pangkep and Maros Regencies.Atotal of 50 heads of families were selected as participants using the purposive sampling method.25 participants became the experimental group and 25 people became the control group.The research variables included knowledge,attitudes,motivation,and behavior of the community in building family toilets before and after the experiment.Data collection through tests,questionnaires,and observations to each participant.The research instruments were knowledge tests,questionnaires,and observations.Data analysis used descriptive and inferential statistical analysis,with the t-test.The results of the study showed that based on the experiment,knowledge had a significant effect with a correlation coefficient of 0.94,attitudes had an effect of 0.91,motivation was 0.756,and behavior was 0.865.It can be concluded that the construction of family toilets in the coastal areas of Pangkep and Maros Regencies,before the experiment,the knowledge,attitudes,motivation,and behavior of the community were in the low category,and after the experiment increased significantly to the high category. In addition, the results of the analysis showed that the experiment had a significant effect on increasing theknowledge, attitudes, motivation, and behavior of the community towards the construction of family toilets in coastal areas.

文摘This study systematically investigates adverb translation in political texts through quantitative and qualitative analysis under the theoretical framework of“political equivalence,”utilizing the Government Work Report(2001-2024)as its database.The research aims to reveal the evolutionary trajectory of translation strategies across different historical periods and their underlying socio-cultural motivations.Findings demonstrate a notable shift in adverb translation strategies within political texts:transitioning from faithful reproduction to adaptive transformation.Throughout this progression,translations maintain discursive coherence while increasingly conforming to English idiomatic conventions,ultimately achieving dynamic equilibrium between accurate conveyance of political connotations and compliance with target-language norms.

文摘With the deepening of cross-cultural educational cooperation between China and Malaysia,the cross-cultural challenges that Chinese overseas students face in Malaysia due to language and cultural differences have become increasingly prominent.Focusing on Chinese graduate students at a public university in Malaysia where English is the medium of instruction,this study employs a scale survey method in conjunction with IBM SPSS 26.0 and Smart PLS 4.0 for data analysis to quantitatively explore the level of language anxiety and its relationship with cross-cultural adaptability and learning motivation.The results indicate that most Chinese graduate students experience notable language anxiety,which is significantly negatively correlated with cross-cultural adaptability,especially academic adaptability,but is not related to learning motivation.Furthermore,the study reveals the complex influencing mechanism of language anxiety within multicultural educational environments and offers suggestions for improvement tailored to Malaysia’s unique educational context.These include utilizing technological tools for language interventions,optimizing classroom teaching strategies,enhancing language learning motivation through external incentives,strengthening training for cross-cultural adaptation skills,and promoting deeper cross-cultural communication.This study provides theoretical support and practical references for alleviating language anxiety and enhancing the cross-cultural adaptability of Chinese overseas students.
