This review summarizes the clinical applications and mechanisms of action of motion-style acupuncture(MSAT)in rehabilitation medicine.Patients are required to perform active or passive movements while the acupuncture ...This review summarizes the clinical applications and mechanisms of action of motion-style acupuncture(MSAT)in rehabilitation medicine.Patients are required to perform active or passive movements while the acupuncture needles are inserted.Owing to its effectiveness,MSAT is progressively applied in clinical settings,including musculoskeletal and neurological diseases.Acupuncture and exercise generate syner-gistic effects through interactive mechanisms.From the perspective of the Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)theory,needling with movement can trigger the propagation of the needling sensation,thereby enhancing its efficacy in dredging meridians and regulating qi-blood circulation.In modern medicine,these mechanisms include neural inhibition,ischemia/reperfusion,and fascial stimulation propagation.Although the clinical applications and mechanism research of MSAT in rehabilitation medicine have ad-vanced,the mechanisms of MSAT in treating various diseases and the scope of applicable diseases war-rant deeper exploration.This will provide novel therapeutic strategies for clinical applications,thereby advancing the integration and application of TCM therapies with exercise-based interventions.展开更多

Methods: F...Objective: To investigate the specificity of the effects of electroacupuncture (EA) at different acupoints on gastric functional activity and gastric blood flow after colorectal distension (CRD) in the rat. Methods: Fifty Wistar rats were randomly divided into 5 groups: a control group, a Zusanli group, a non-point group, a Taichong group and a Neiguan group. Rats were anesthetized after 18 h of fasting, and a rat model of nociceptive blood pressure elevation and abnormal electrogastrogram (EGG) and gastric tension (GT) was prepared by gasbag-induced CRD. EA was given bilaterally, and its effects on gastric blood flow (GBF) of the arcus vasculosi of the greater omentum, blood pressure, EGG fast wave properties, and gastric smooth muscle tension (GT) were quantified. Results: CRD induced an increase in blood pressure that was significantly inhibited by EA at all points (all P<0.05), and the inhibitory effects were greater in the Zusanli and Neiguan groups compared to the non-point group (both P<0.05). CRD also caused reductions in GT and GBF, and in the amplitude, frequency and duration of EGG waves (all P<0.05). These effects were also reversed by EA. The effects of EA on EGG wave amplitude, GT, and GBF were superior in the Zusanli group compared to the Taichong group, Neiguan group, and the non-point group. Conclusion: EA significantly counteracted CRD-induced changes in blood pressure, GBF, EGG, and GT. The effects of stimulation at Zusanli (ST 36) were significantly greater compared to other points, indicating relative specificity of this acupoint.展开更多

Methods: According to the principle of randomization, 258 cases with cervical vertigo who ...Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy of acupuncture combined with tuina in treating patients with cervical vertigo. Methods: According to the principle of randomization, 258 cases with cervical vertigo who met the inclusion criteria for the study were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, with 129 cases in each. The patients in the observation group received acupuncture combined with tuina therapy, while those in the control group were just treated by the same acupuncture therapy as in the observation group. After 10-day continuous treatments, the clinical efficacies of the two groups were analyzed and compared. Results: The total effective rate of the observation group was 100%, versus 86.0% of the control group, and the difference was significant(P<0.05). After treatment, cervical range of motion(ROM) scores in both groups were statistically significantly different from those before treatment(all P<0.05); in addition, there was a statistically significant difference in inter-group comparison of ROM score(P<0.05). Conclusion: Compared with simple acupuncture treatment, acupuncture combined with tuina therapy has a better effect in improving the ROM of cervical vertigo patients, with higher clinical efficacy.展开更多
