The aim of the present study was to investigate the construct validity and internal consistency of the Brunel Mood Scale (BRUMS) for use with different populations, which are physically active and apparently healthy. Measures were obtained from 1295 male (N = 709, 34 ± 20 years, mean ± SD) and female (N = 576, 43 ± 24 years, mean ± SD) volunteers. Factor analysis was used, verifying that six factors (components) accounted for 62.65% of the total variance of the scale. The Varimax method with Kaiser Normalization for the rotation of the factors for the main components, and it was observed that the 24 scale items loaded on six mood factors (anger, depression, tension, vigor, fatigue, and confusion). Internal consistency was good for all the factors identified. We suggest that the results provide some support for validity of the BRUMS for use with different populations, which are physically active and apparently healthy.展开更多

Notwithstanding, these conditions are often under-diagnosed and under-treated in the clinical practice and negatively affect the functional recovery, the adherence to treatment, the quality of life, and even the mortality risk. In addition, a bidirectional association between depression and neurological disorders may be possible being that depressive syndromes may be considered as a risk factor for certain neurological diseases. Despite the large amount of evidence regarding the effects of music therapy(MT) and other musical interventions on different aspects of neurological disorders, no updated article reviewing outcomes such as mood, emotions, depression, activity of daily living and so on is actually available; for this reason, little is known about the effectiveness of music and MT on these important outcomes in neurological patients. The aim of this article is to provide a narrative review of the current literature on musical interventions and their effects on mood and depression in patients with neurological disorders. Searching on Pub Med and Psyc Info databases, 25 studies corresponding to the inclusion criteria have been selected; 11 of them assess the effects of music or MT in Dementia, 9 explore the efficacy on patients with Stroke, and 5 regard other neurological diseases like Multiple Sclerosis, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis/motor neuron disease, Chronic quadriplegia, Parkinson's Disease, and Acquired Brain dysfunctions. Selected studies are based on relational and rehabilitative music therapy approaches or concern music listening interventions. Most of the studies support the efficacy of MT and other musical interventions on mood, depressive syndromes, and quality of life on neurological patients.展开更多

文摘Mood disorders include a set of psychiatric manifestations of increasing prevalence in our society, being mainly represented by major depressive disorder(MDD)and bipolar disorder(BD).The etiopathogenesis of mood disorders is extremely complex, with a wide spectrum of biological, psychological, and sociocultural factors being responsible for their appearance and development. In this sense, immune system dysfunction represents a key mechanism in the onset and pathophysiology of mood disorders, worsening mainly the central nervous system(neuroinflammation)and the periphery of the body(systemic inflammation). However, these alterations cannot be understood separately, but as part of a complex picture in which different factors and systems interact with each other.Psychoneuroimmunoendocrinology(PNIE)is the area responsible for studying the relationship between these elements and the impact of mind–body integration, placing the immune system as part of a whole. Thus, the dysfunction of the immune system is capable of influencing and activating different mechanisms that promote disruption of the psyche, damage to the nervous system, alterations to the endocrine and metabolic systems, and disruption of the microbiota and intestinal ecosystem,as well as of other organs and,in turn, all these mechanisms are responsible for inducing and enhancing the immune dysfunction.Similarly, the clinical approach to these patients is usually multidisciplinary, and the therapeutic arsenal includes different pharmacological(for example, antidepressants, antipsychotics, and lithium)and non-pharmacological(i.e.,psychotherapy,lifestyle,and electroconvulsive therapy)treatments. These interventions also modulate the immune system and other elements of the PNIE in these patients, which may be interesting to understand the therapeutic success or failure of these approaches. In this sense, this review aims to delve into the relationship between immune dysfunction and mood disorders and their integration in the complex context of PNIE.Likewise,an attempt will be made to explore the effects on the immune system of different strategies available in the clinical approach to these patients,in order to identify the mechanisms described and their possible uses as biomarkers.
文摘BACKGROUND Abdominal postoperative patients are susceptible to postoperative depression resulting from pain and stress, which can hinder their rehabilitation.Acupuncture has shown potential to relieve this condition.AIM To analyze the mechanism by which acupuncture relieves postoperative depression in patients post-abdominal surgery.METHODS Abdominal postoperative patients with depression between January 2015 and December 2023 at the First Affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine were enrolled.Patients were divided into two groups using the random throwing method:Observation(250 cases, fluoxetine hydrochloride+acupuncture treatment)and control(250 cases, fluoxetine hydrochloride treatment).Changes in negative emotions Hamilton Depression Scale 24,serum inflammatory factors[tumor necrosis factorα,interleukin(IL)-1β,IL-6],miR-155 expression levels, and BDNF levels were assessed.RESULTS Significant improvements were observed in the observation group compared to the control group in all assessed parameters after six weeks(P<0.05).This suggests that the combination of fluoxetine hydrochloride and acupuncture may be more effective in managing postoperative depression than medication alone.CONCLUSION Acupuncture complies with the principle of traditional Chinese medicine syndrome differentiation and ensures the pertinence and effectiveness of treatment. In addition,it not only actively improves depressive symptoms but also effectively regulates the serum level of inflammatory factors.

We suggest that the results provide some support for validity of the BRUMS for use with different populations, which are physically active and apparently healthy.
文摘The subjunctive mood is one of the most difficult English grammar items for most English learners. In this thesis, the author discusses the usage of the subjunctive mood in English, especially its usage in English subordinate clauses. At the same time, the author provides a lot of examples. In the author's opinion,as long as the English learners find out the rules of it and practice it more, they will definitely grasp the subjunctive mood and use it correctly and skillfully.
文摘The hypothesis of an important role of gut microbiota in the maintenance of physiological state into the gastrointestinal(GI)system is supported by several studies that have shown a qualitative and quantitative alteration of the intestinal flora in a number of gastrointestinal and extra-gastrointestinal diseases. In the last few years, the importance of gut microbiota impairment in the etiopathogenesis of pathology such as autism, dementia and mood disorder, has been raised. The evidence of the inflammatory state alteration, highlighted in disorders such as schizophrenia, major depressive disorder and bipolar disorder, strongly recalls the microbiota alteration, highly suggesting an important role of the alteration of GI system also in neuropsychiatric disorders.Up to now, available evidences display that the impairment of gut microbiota plays a key role in the development of autism and mood disorders. The application of therapeutic modulators of gut microbiota to autism and mood disorders has been experienced only in experimental settings to date, with few but promising results.A deeper assessment of the role of gut microbiota in the development of autism spectrum disorder(ASD),as well as the advancement of the therapeutic armamentarium for the modulation of gut microbiota is warranted for a better management of ASD and mood disorders.
文摘Mood disorder and depressive syndromes represent a common comorbid condition in neurological disorders witha prevalence rate that ranges between 20% and 50% of patients with stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson's disease. Most of the studies support the efficacy of MT and other musical interventions on mood, depressive syndromes, and quality of life on neurological patients.
