Various azo compounds(Modified dyes)have been synthesised by chemical modification of areca nut extract(epicate-chin),a plant-based Polyphenolic compound to get semi-synthetic dyes.Three different primary amines namel...Various azo compounds(Modified dyes)have been synthesised by chemical modification of areca nut extract(epicate-chin),a plant-based Polyphenolic compound to get semi-synthetic dyes.Three different primary amines namely p-nitro aniline,p-anisidine and aniline,were diazotized to form their corresponding diazonium salts which were further coupled with an areca nut extract.Preliminary characterization of the areca nut extract and the resultant azo compounds(Modified dyes)was carried out in terms of melting point,solubility tests,thin layer chromatography,UV-Visible and FTIR spectroscopy.These modified dyes were further applied on polyester and nylon fabrics and%dye exhaustion was evaluated.Dyed fabrics were further tested for their fastness properties such as wash fastness,rubbing fastness,light fastness and sublimation fastness.The results of the fastness tests indicate that,all the three modified dyes have good dyeability for polyester and nylon fabrics.The dyed fabrics were also tested for ultraviolet protection factor which showed very good ultraviolet protection.展开更多

The photovoltaic properties and the dark current were studied by two surface modification methods. ...The TiO2 nanoporous film photoelectrode, as a crucial component of dye-sensitized solar cells, has been investigated. The photovoltaic properties and the dark current were studied by two surface modification methods. One was to apply a compact layer between the conductive glass substrate and nanoporous TiO2 film. Another was to produce TiO2 nanoparticles among the microstructure by TICl4 treatment. A suitable concentration and number of times for TICl4 treatment were found in our experiment. The dark current is suppressed by surface modifications, leading to a significant improvement in the solar cells performance. An excessive concentration of TICl4 will produce more surface states and introduce a larger dark current reversely. The dye is also regarded as a source of charge recombination in dark to some extent, due to an amount of surface protonations introduced by the interracial link in the conductive glass substrate/dye interface and dye/TiO2 interface.展开更多

The studies on biodegradability of TA were conduc...As the characteristic pollutant, terephthalic acid(TA)was in charge of 40%—78% of the total COD of terylene artificial silk printing and dyeing wastewater(TPW-water). The studies on biodegradability of TA were conducted in a serial of activated sludge reactors with TPW-water. TA appeared to be readily biodegradable with removal efficiency over 96.5% under aerobic conditions, hardly biodegradable with removal efficiency below 10% under anoxic conditions and slowly biodegradable with a turnover between 31.4% and 56.0% under anaerobic conditions. TA also accounted for the majority of BOD in TPW-water. The process combined by anoxic, anaerobic and aerobic activated sludge reactor was suitable for TA degradation and TPW-water treatment. Further, the aerobic process was essentially much more effective than the anaerobic or anoxic one to degrade TA in TPW-water.展开更多
Terylene artificial silk printing and dyeing wastewater(TPD wastewater), containing averaged 710 mg/L terephthalic acid(TA) as the main carbon source and the character pollutant, was subjected to expanded granular slu...Terylene artificial silk printing and dyeing wastewater(TPD wastewater), containing averaged 710 mg/L terephthalic acid(TA) as the main carbon source and the character pollutant, was subjected to expanded granular sludge bed(EGSB) process. The stability of the EGSB process was firstly conducted by laboratory experiment. TA ionization was the predominated factor influencing the acid-base balance of the system. High concentration of TA in wastewater resulted in sufficient buffering capacity to neutralize the volatile fatty acids(VFA) generated from substrate degradation and provided strong base for anaerobic system to resist the pH decrease below 6.5. VFA and UFA caused almost no inhibition on the anaerobic process and biogas production except that pH was below 6.35 and VFA was at its maximum value. Along with the granulating of the activated sludge, the efficiency of organic removal and production rate of biogas increased gradually and became more stable. After start-up, the efficiency of COD removal increased to 57%—64%, pH stabilized in a range of 7.99—8.04, and production rate of biogas was relatively high and stable. Sludge granulating, suitable influent of pH and loading were responsible for the EGSB stability. The variation of VFA concentration only resulted in neglectable rebound of pH, and the inhibition from VFA could be ignored in EGSB. The EGSB reactor was stable for TPD wastewater treatment.展开更多

The textile industry spreads globally with the challenges of its wastewater treatment,especially dyes,which are difficult to degrade.To improve coagulation-flocculation process in dye wastewater treatment,an intercala...The textile industry spreads globally with the challenges of its wastewater treatment,especially dyes,which are difficult to degrade.To improve coagulation-flocculation process in dye wastewater treatment,an intercalation process was employed to prepare a new efficient coagulant of lithium borohydride-iron oxychloride(LiBH_(4)_FeOCl) in this study.The layered crystal pristine iron oxychloride(FeOCl) material was prepared by chemical gas phase migration.LiBH4 was introduced into the layers of two dimensional(2 D) FeOCl nanosheets by a simple method of liquid phase insertion.The samples were characterized by a field emitting scanning electron microscopy(SEM),a rotating anode X-ray powder diffractometer(XRD),etc.The cationic dye was employed as the simulated pollutant.A coagulation and decolorization experimental device was built to study the coagulation performance of the new coagulant LiBH_(4)_FeOCl.It is found that the intercalation modified LiBH_(4)_FeOCl exhibits the characteristics of crystal structure,and the layered structure of FeOCl is preserved.LiBH_(4)_FeOCl,as an insoluble inorganic solid coagulant,performs well for dye pollutants of methyl red,basic yellow 1,methylene blue,rhodamine B,ethyl violet and Janus green B.The reaction rate is significantly 68% higher than the current commercial coagulants of Al_(2)(SO_(4))_(3).The mechanism analysis reveals that LiBH_(4)_FeOCl breaks and disperses rapidly in the water environment.Its negatively charged material particles can be electrostatically adsorbed with dye pollutant molecules through electrostatic action.The above collaborative actions of breaking,dispersion and electrostatic adsorption are the main coagulation mechanisms of LiBH_(4)_FeOCl.The solid inorganic coagulant of LiBH4FeOCl provides a competitive alternative for traditional inorganic salts and organic coagulants.展开更多
The problem of colority control of printing and dyeing wastewater has become a technical problem that plagues related companies.Bentonite is an adsorbent with excellent properties.Modification of bentonite with enviro...The problem of colority control of printing and dyeing wastewater has become a technical problem that plagues related companies.Bentonite is an adsorbent with excellent properties.Modification of bentonite with environmentally friendly substances can improve its decolorization performance.In this experiment,the simulated printing and dyeing wastewater was taken as the control object,and the bentonite was modified with environmentally friendly materials such as sodium carboxymethyl cellulose(CMC)and lignin to prepare a new modified bentonite;then the modified bentonite was used to adsorb the simulated wastewater to reduce the water colority and COD;finally the relevant design of the adsorption process was made.Results indicate that M lignin∶M CMC∶M original bentonite=1∶2∶97 had the optimum treatment effect,the optimum modification temperature was 30℃ and the modification time was 4 h;the optimum conditions for the adsorption process were:pH=5,temperature=30℃,reaction time=60 min,dosage=0.05 g of modified bentonite/mL simulated dye solution.The final removal rate of colority and COD reached 95.0% and 98.2%,respectively.Compared with the original bentonite,this new modified bentonite has greater adsorption capacity and thus has greater application value.展开更多

The amount of gadolinium was measured with inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) experiments. The modified electrode showed reduced N3 dye adsorption ability, but increased light conversion efficiency in comparison with the non-modified electrode. The overall conversion efficiencies, determined under 400 W/m2 irradiation with tungsten-halogen lamp at room temperature, were 0.55% for non-modified and 0.74% for modified electrodes.展开更多

Modified dyes were prepared by the ionotropy of anionic dyes with the quaternary ammonium compound containing amino acid residue. It was discovered that the modified dyes exhibited an excellent pH controllable solubility. These modified dyes have good water solubility at pH> 8.0, but they were water insoluble at pH < 6.5. On the printing paper, modified dyes in water-based ink-jet print ink could convert to water insoluble form and give prints excellent water fastness.展开更多

It was found that the DYSC had better photoelectric performance when the electrode was modified by platinum than by nickel and carbon. The influence of the incidence light wavelength on the incidence monochromatic photoelectric conversion efficiency(IPCE) was investigated. The result shows that the IPCE mainly depends on the short-circuit current density(I SC) of a DYSC, and the IPCE reaches 48.32% under the irradiation with the wavelength of 560 nm when the counter electrode of a DYSC was modified by platinum. The influence of incident light intensity on the photoelectric properties of a DYSC was also investigated. It was found that the I SC and open-circuit voltage(V OC) increased and the fill factor(f f) of the DYSC decreased with the increase of the incident light intensity.展开更多

The process and operating parameters of project are optimized and debugged,and its economic and environmental benefits are analyzed.The results show that the process of coagulation sedimentation-hydrolytic acidification with aeration tank-biological aerated filter-active sand filter is applied in Gaoyang Sewage Treatment Plant. The design scale of sewage treatment plant is 120000 m^3/d. The influent is as following: COD is 669mg/L; SS is 424mg/L; NH_3-N is 8.83mg/L; TP is 6.03mg/L. After the process,the best removal rates of COD,SS,NH_3-N and TP are 93. 5%,98. 8%,97. 1% and 96. 2%,respectively. The various indexes of effluent water complied with standard A of the first order in Pollutants Emission Standard of Urban Wastewater Treatment Plant( GB 18918-2002). The processing cost is only 0. 807 yuan/m^3. As a result,the project construction and operation not only improve the environment,but also promote regional economic development. Process design and operating parameters provide an important reference value for the printing and dyeing wastewater treatment industry.展开更多

文摘Modified with gadolinium-containing layer, nanoporous titania electrode and its application in dye-sensitized solar cells were reported. The electrode prepared was characterized with UV-Vis and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques. The amount of gadolinium was measured with inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) experiments. The modified electrode showed reduced N3 dye adsorption ability, but increased light conversion efficiency in comparison with the non-modified electrode. The overall conversion efficiencies, determined under 400 W/m2 irradiation with tungsten-halogen lamp at room temperature, were 0.55% for non-modified and 0.74% for modified electrodes.

文摘A quaternary ammonium compound containing amino acid residue was synthesized by Converting 3-chloro-2-hydroxy- propyalkyldimethylammonium chlorides into its epoxide derivatives, then attaching an amino acid to the epoxide derivatives synthesized a quaternary ammonium compound containing amino acid residue. Modified dyes were prepared by the ionotropy of anionic dyes with the quaternary ammonium compound containing amino acid residue. It was discovered that the modified dyes exhibited an excellent pH controllable solubility. These modified dyes have good water solubility at pH> 8.0, but they were water insoluble at pH < 6.5. On the printing paper, modified dyes in water-based ink-jet print ink could convert to water insoluble form and give prints excellent water fastness.

文摘A dye-sensitized nanocrystalline TiO 2 solar cell(DYSC) was assembled, of which counter electrode was modified already by platinum, nickel and carbon. It was found that the DYSC had better photoelectric performance when the electrode was modified by platinum than by nickel and carbon. The influence of the incidence light wavelength on the incidence monochromatic photoelectric conversion efficiency(IPCE) was investigated. The result shows that the IPCE mainly depends on the short-circuit current density(I SC) of a DYSC, and the IPCE reaches 48.32% under the irradiation with the wavelength of 560 nm when the counter electrode of a DYSC was modified by platinum. The influence of incident light intensity on the photoelectric properties of a DYSC was also investigated. It was found that the I SC and open-circuit voltage(V OC) increased and the fill factor(f f) of the DYSC decreased with the increase of the incident light intensity.

文摘In order to protect quality of Baiyangdian surface water and Gaoyang groundwater,the project is applied to process printing and dyeing wastewater that contains complicated compositions,high concentrations of organics and SS,and lots of pollutants difficult to degrade by microorganism. The process and operating parameters of project are optimized and debugged,and its economic and environmental benefits are analyzed.The results show that the process of coagulation sedimentation-hydrolytic acidification with aeration tank-biological aerated filter-active sand filter is applied in Gaoyang Sewage Treatment Plant. The design scale of sewage treatment plant is 120000 m^3/d. The influent is as following: COD is 669mg/L; SS is 424mg/L; NH_3-N is 8.83mg/L; TP is 6.03mg/L. After the process,the best removal rates of COD,SS,NH_3-N and TP are 93. 5%,98. 8%,97. 1% and 96. 2%,respectively. The various indexes of effluent water complied with standard A of the first order in Pollutants Emission Standard of Urban Wastewater Treatment Plant( GB 18918-2002). The processing cost is only 0. 807 yuan/m^3. As a result,the project construction and operation not only improve the environment,but also promote regional economic development. Process design and operating parameters provide an important reference value for the printing and dyeing wastewater treatment industry.

文摘The optimum processing parameters of silk wax printing with Biue 2# reactive dye( vinyl- sulfone) at 40℃were deter-mined through orthogonal tests on its dyeing properties.The parameters were adopted in designing a wax printing process,which proved practical for actual production with a dye utility as 60% ,a Grade V side wet fastness and a decrease of only 2-4.1%in fabric strength. Also,some feasible measures are put forward in this paper on the major steps of the wax printingprocess.
