MAC may be the source of cardiac embolism for various strokes with unknown initial causes. The relationship between MAC patients and stroke risk was systematically reviewed and meta-analyzed. Methods: The authors used the following databases to conduct a comprehensive search on the risk relationship between MAC and stroke: PubMed, Embase and Web of Science. The combined odds ratio (OR) or relative risk and the corresponding 95% confidence interval (CIs) were calculated to assess the risk relationship between MAC and stroke. Results: ten studies met the inclusion criteria for the risk relationship between MAC and atrial fibrillation, including 3,972 patients with MAC and 8,135 patients without MAC. Combined analysis showed that the stroke risk of MAC patients increased significantly (OR:1.938;95%CI:1.715,2.703;P=0.000). Conclusion: MAC can be used as an independent risk factor for stroke.展开更多
