We first present the principles of micro-seismic monitoring and location, as well as an underground explosion-proof micro-seismic monitoring system. Given a practical engineering application, we describe the application of micro-seismic monitoring technology in determining the height of a "two-zone" overburden, i.e., a caving zone and a fracture zone, the width of a coal-pillar section and the depth of failure of a floor. The workfaces monitored accomplished safe and highly efficient mining based on our micro-seismic monitoring results and provide direct proof of the reliability and validity of micro-seismic monitoring technology.展开更多

Nowadays,additive manufacturing,or 3D printing(3DP),though not a new technology in many industrial fields,is still relatively novel in mining engineering.This study explored the application of 3D metal printing,3D pol...Nowadays,additive manufacturing,or 3D printing(3DP),though not a new technology in many industrial fields,is still relatively novel in mining engineering.This study explored the application of 3D metal printing,3D polylactic acid/acrylonitrile butadiene styrene printing,and 3D concrete printing in coal mining.Some examples of physical models established via 3DP technologies were studied in detail,namely,3DP bolts,3DP steel ladder beams,3DP face plates,and 3DP metal arches,which were installed in scaled 3DP concrete prototype models of coal mine excavation.Through the comprehensive laboratory loading tests,the models could simulate the damage scenario highly similar to the real failures.The results show that the 3D printed physical models greatly improved the accuracy and reliability of experiments.On this basis,the conceptual design of a 3DP machine for physical models was proposed,which had the potential of resembling the strata deformation/collapse in natural scenarios.Through assessing the applicability of the additive manufacturing technology in mining engineering,this study aimed to further explore its potential applicability in other engineering contexts such as slope controlling,large underground engineering,and underground space stability.展开更多

Discrete element method(DEM)-based simulations are crucial for bridging macro and micro research,particularly owing to the limitations of experimental methods.This paper reviews the simulation techniques used for part...Discrete element method(DEM)-based simulations are crucial for bridging macro and micro research,particularly owing to the limitations of experimental methods.This paper reviews the simulation techniques used for particle breakage in DEM,summarizes the research status,and discusses pertinent issues to outline future prospects for particle breakage simulation.Fragment replacement method(FRM)and bonded particle method(BPM)are widely used to simulate particle breakage based on DEM.In BPM models,sub-particle size selection,particle cluster generation mode,and bonding parameters are crucial considerations.Although BPM can simulate the breakage of particles with complex shapes,it cannot re-simulate them,posing difficulties in coordinating calculation load and simulation accuracy.For FRM,the fragment replacement mode and particle breakage criteria are critical.The number and size of replacement particles are difficult to match with actual conditions,and ensuring mass conservation is significantly challenging.Although the initial computational load in FRM is relatively low,it increases significantly as the simulation progresses.To address these issues,we propose a simulation method that integrates BPM and FRM,allowing sub-particle breakage in BPM to be realized by FRM.展开更多

文摘This study employs experimental and analytical methods to quantitatively investigate the nonlinear geomechanical and physicochemical processes of multiphase and high-stress coal-bearing rock masses and non-equilibrium geological materials,as well as their interactions.The research encompasses following aspects,i.e.1)the relationship between volatile matter yield,geological age,and distance from magmatic deposits in Kuzbass coalfield;2)the impact of physicochemical property bifurcations on coal and gas outbursts;3)the variation law of coalbed methane content with burial depth;4)the relaxation energy of gas content;5)the specific surface area of coal;6)the relationship between heat release and deformation waves of Kuzbass coal samples of different orders under uniaxial compression;7)the gas outbursts in different mines in Kuzbass;8)the relationship between seismic energy and gas outburst concentration in coal mines;9)the influence of piston mechanism;10)the connection operation between Langmuir equation and Oparin equation;and 11)the equation of motion for structural media.The research results have created a prerequisite for establishing a unified theory of the interaction between nonlinear geomechanics and physicochemical processes in rock masses,which is of great significance for the safe development and utilization of underground resources.
