A solution to compute the optimal path based on a single-line-single-directional(SLSD)road network model is proposed.Unlike the traditional road network model,in the SLSD conceptual model,being single-directional and single-line style,a road is no longer a linkage of road nodes but abstracted as a network node.Similarly,a road node is abstracted as the linkage of two ordered single-directional roads.This model can describe turn restrictions,circular roads,and other real scenarios usually described using a super-graph.Then a computing framework for optimal path finding(OPF)is presented.It is proved that classical Dijkstra and A algorithms can be directly used for OPF computing of any real-world road networks by transferring a super-graph to an SLSD network.Finally,using Singapore road network data,the proposed conceptual model and its corresponding optimal path finding algorithms are validated using a two-step optimal path finding algorithm with a pre-computing strategy based on the SLSD road network. 展开更多

The paper proposes a method of global path planning based on neural network and genetic algorithm. We constructed the neural network model of environmental information in the workspace for a robot and used this model to establish the relationship between a collision avoidance path and the output of the model. Then the two-dimensional coding for the path via-points was converted to one-dimensional one and the fitness of both the collision avoidance path and the shortest distance are integrated into a fitness function. A Multi-Hop Dynamic Path-Selection (MHDP) Algorithm for the Augmented Lifetime of Wireless Sensor Networks

In majority of the cases, the c... In Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), the lifetime of sensors is the crucial issue. Numerous schemes are proposed to augment the life time of sensors based on the wide range of parameters. In majority of the cases, the center of attraction will be the nodes’ lifetime enhancement and routing. In the scenario of cluster based WSN, multi-hop mode of communication reduces the communication cast by increasing average delay and also increases the routing overhead. In this proposed scheme, two ideas are introduced to overcome the delay and routing overhead. To achieve the higher degree in the lifetime of the nodes, the residual energy (remaining energy) of the nodes for multi-hop node choice is taken into consideration first. Then the modification in the routing protocol is evolved (Multi-Hop Dynamic Path-Selection Algorithm—MHDP). A dynamic path updating is initiated in frequent interval based on nodes residual energy to avoid the data loss due to path extrication and also to avoid the early dying of nodes due to elevation of data forwarding. The proposed method improves network’s lifetime significantly. The diminution in the average delay and increment in the lifetime of network are also accomplished. The MHDP offers 50% delay lesser than clustering. The average residual energy is 20% higher than clustering and 10% higher than multi-hop clustering. The proposed method improves network lifetime by 40% than clustering and 30% than multi-hop clustering which is considerably much better than the preceding methods. 展开更多

Human beings’ intellection is the characteristic of a distinct hierarchy and can be taken to construct a heuristic in the shortest path algorithms.It is detailed in this paper how to utilize the hierarchical reasoning on the basis of greedy and directional strategy to establish a spatial heuristic,so as to improve running efficiency and suitability of shortest path algorithm for traffic network.The authors divide urban traffic network into three hierarchies and set forward a new node hierarchy division rule to avoid the unreliable solution of shortest path.It is argued that the shortest path,no matter distance shortest or time shortest,is usually not the favorite of drivers in practice.Some factors difficult to expect or quantify influence the drivers’ choice greatly.It makes the drivers prefer choosing a less shortest,but more reliable or flexible path to travel on.The presented optimum path algorithm,in addition to the improvement of the running efficiency of shortest path algorithms up to several times,reduces the emergence of those factors,conforms to the intellection characteristic of human beings,and is more easily accepted by drivers.Moreover,it does not require the completeness of networks in the lowest hierarchy and the applicability and fault tolerance of the algorithm have improved.The experiment result shows the advantages of the presented algorithm.The authors argued that the algorithm has great potential application for navigation systems of large_scale traffic networks. 展开更多

Implementation and comparative testing of turn-based algorithm for logit network loading

In order to evaluate the practicality and effectiveness of the turn-based algorithm for logit loading (TALL), the TALL is implemented using C++, and it is compared with a combination of the network-expanding method and the Dial algorithm based on the analysis of algorithm procedures. The TALL uses the arc-labeling shortest path searching, bidirectional star and the deque structure to directly assign the traffic flow, while the Dial algorithm should be used in an expanded network. The test results over realistic networks of eight cities show the superior performance of the TALL algorithm over the combination of the network-expanding method and the Dial algorithm, and the average processing time is reduced by 55. 4%. Furthermore, it is found that the operational efficiency of the TALL relates to the original densities of the cities. The average processing time is reduced by 65. 1% when the original density is about 14%, but the advantage of the TALL is not obvious with the increase in the original density. 展开更多

An improved recursive decomposition algorithm for reliability evaluation of lifeline networks

The seismic reliability evaluation of lifeline networks has received considerable attention and been widely studied. In this paper, on the basis of an original recursive decomposition algorithm, an improved analytical approach to evaluate the seismic reliability of large lifeline systems is presented. The proposed algorithm takes the shortest path from the source to the sink of a network as decomposition policy. Using the Boolean laws of set operation and the probabilistic operation principal, a recursive decomposition process is constructed in which the disjoint minimal path set and the disjoint minimal cut set are simultaneously enumerated. As the result, a probabilistic inequality can be used to provide results that satisfy a prescribed error bound. During the decomposition process, different from the original recursive decomposition algorithm which only removes edges to simplify the network, the proposed algorithm simplifies the network by merging nodes into sources and removing edges. As a result, the proposed algorithm can obtain simpler networks. Moreover, for a network owning s-independent components in its component set, two network reduction techniques are introduced to speed up the proposed algorithm. A series of case studies, including an actual water distribution network and a large urban gas system, are calculated using the proposed algorithm. The results indicate that the proposed algorithm provides a useful probabilistic analysis method for the seismic reliability evaluation of lifeline networks. 展开更多

Network failures are unavoidable and occur frequently.When the network fails,intra-domain routing protocols deploying on the Internet need to undergo a long convergence process.During this period,a large number of messages are discarded,which results in a decline in the user experience and severely affects the quality of service of Internet Service Providers(ISP).Therefore,improving the availability of intra-domain routing is a trending research question to be solved.Industry usually employs routing protection algorithms to improve intra-domain routing availability.However,existing routing protection schemes compute as many backup paths as possible to reduce message loss due to network failures,which increases the cost of the network and impedes the methods deployed in practice.To address the issues,this study proposes an efficient routing protection algorithm based on optimized network topology(ERPBONT).ERPBONT adopts the optimized network topology to calculate a backup path with the minimum path coincidence degree with the shortest path for all source purposes.Firstly,the backup path with the minimum path coincidence with the shortest path is described as an integer programming problem.Then the simulated annealing algorithm ERPBONT is used to find the optimal solution.Finally,the algorithm is tested on the simulated topology and the real topology.The experimental results show that ERPBONT effectively reduces the path coincidence between the shortest path and the backup path,and significantly improves the routing availability. 展开更多

In the multiple protocol label-switched (MPLS) networks, the commodities are transmitted by the label-switched paths (LSPs). For the sake of reducing the total cost and strengthening the central management, the MPLS networks restrict the number of paths that a commodity can use, for maintaining the quality of service (QoS) of the users, the demand of each commodity must be satisfied. Under the above conditions, some links in the network may be too much loaded, affecting the performance of the whole network drastically. For this problem, in [1], we proposed two mathematical models to describe it and a heuristic algorithm which quickly finds transmitting paths for each commodity are also presented. In this paper, we propose a new heuristic algorithm which finds a feasible path set for each commodity, and then select some paths from the path set through a mixed integer linear programming to transmit the demand of each commodity. This strategy reduces the scale of the original problem to a large extent. We test 50 instances and the results show the effectiveness of the new heuristic algorithm. 展开更多

This paper presents a new routing strategy by introducing a tunable parameter into the minimum information path routing strategy we proposed previously. It is found that network transmission capacity can be considerably enhanced by adjusting the parameter with various allocations of node capability for packet delivery. Moreover, the proposed routing strategy provides a traffic load distribution which can better match the allocation of node capability than that of traditional efficient routing strategies, leading to a network with improved transmission performance. This routing strategy, without deviating from the shortest-path routing strategy in the length of paths too much, produces improved performance indexes such as critical generating rate, average length of paths and average search information. 展开更多

In the naming system part, a system based on Chord algorithm was used, and multi-path is introduced to improve the name resolution reliability. In this paper, we mainly pay attention to the reliability model of integrated naming network system which can be attributed as a multi-path transmission issue, and the name resolution paths used in the network path may be cut off by attacks or other events. This paper focuses on parallel multi-path, which is recoverable when failure happens, transmission reliability, and proposes a corresponding reliability model to get the probability of successful transmission in such conditions. Finally, a numerical simulation is devised to demonstrate the multi-path name resolution's high reliability. 展开更多

The data flow requirement model in NCW is presented. Based on synthetic analysis of network resource, the QOS (Quality of Service) parameters and their characters, the high requirement of real-time synchronization in NCW, the single QOS routing constraint, and the network latency between the detector and weapon control station, are presented. To take an example for 3-node brigade (regiment) level NCW demonstration platform, the algorithm of end-to-end network latency and path information in NCW are presented. The algorithm program based on Server/Client architecture is developed. The optimal path is the link whose latency between the detector and weapon control station is the smallest. This paper solves the key issue and satisfies the needs on network latency in NCW. The study results can be widely applied in the decision of the optimal path which is based on multiple service provision points. 展开更多

Network planning, analysis and design are an iterative process aimed at ensuring that a new network service meets the needs of subscribers and operators. During the initial start-up phase, coverage is the big issue and coverage in telecommunications systems is related to the service area where a bare minimum access in the wireless network is possible. In order to guarantee visibility of at least one satellite above a certain satellite elevation, more satellites are required in the constellation to provide Global network services. Hence, the aim of this paper is to develop wide area network coverage for sparsely distributed earth stations in the world. A hybrid geometrical topology model using spherical coordinate framework was devised to provide wide area network coverage for sparsely distributed earth stations in the world. This topology model ensures Global satellite continuous network coverage for terrestrial networks. A computation of path lengths between any two satellites put in place to provide network services to selected cities in the world was carried out. A consideration of a suitable routing decision mechanism, routing protocols and algorithms were considered in the work while the shortest paths as well as the alternate paths between located nodes were computed. It was observed that a particular satellite with the central angle of 27&deg;can provide services into the diameter of the instantaneous coverage distance of 4081.3 Km which is typical of wide area network coverage. This implies that link-state database routing scheme can be applied, continuous global geographical coverage with minimum span, minimum traffic pattern and latency are guaranteed. Traffic handover rerouting strategies need further research. Also, traffic engineering resources such as channel capacity and bandwidth utilization schemes need to be investigated. Satellite ATM network architecture will benefit and needs further study. 展开更多

Therefore, taken the uncertainty of freight supply and demand into account, a collaborative optimization model is formulated with transportation capacity constraint. In addition, a two-stage genetic algorithm (GA) is put forward. Herein, the first stage of this GA is adopted a priority-based encoding method for determining the supply and demand relationship between different points. Then supply and demand relationship which the supply and the demand are both greater than zero is a minimum cost flow (MCF) problem on network in the second stage. Aim at the purpose to solve MCF problem, a GA is employed. Moreover, this algorithm is suitable for balance and unbalance transportation on directed network or undirected network. At last, the model and algorithm are verified to be efficient by a numerical example. 展开更多
