Cancer significantly impacts patients'physical and mental health, leading to a wide range of effects from physical pain to psychological issues such as anxiety and depression, severely diminishing their quality of life.As an emerging psychosomatic intervention, mindfulness interventions have gained increasing attention. This scoping review systematically searches and filters relevant literature, covering databases from their inception to January 2025,aiming to comprehensively outline the application, research characteristics, and main outcomes of mindfulness interventions in cancer recovery. We employed the Arksey and O'Malley framework, utilizing electronic databases and manual searches to rigorously select studies and extract key data. Results indicate that mindfulness interventions show broad potential in improving cancer patients'mental health, physical symptoms, and quality of life, despite the heterogeneity of the evidence.Future research should focus on higher-quality randomized controlled trials to explore different intervention modalities and long-term effects and to analyze their underlying mechanisms. This paper particularly highlights the advancements in Mindfulness-Based Cancer Recovery, providing valuable references for clinical practice. 展开更多

It carries a significant level of disability and economic burden. Pain patients frequently experience comorbid mental illness (e.g. depression, anxiety, PTSD, insomnia) and often require psychotherapeutic interventions in addition to medication management. Mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) have emerged as a means to treat several chronic conditions (e.g. chronic pain, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, stress, insomnia). The objective of this review is to evaluate the current research on the use of MBIs in chronic pain managment. Although there are several controlled trials on the use of MBIs in chronic pain management, only a few studies were found that demonstrated significant effects on pain intensity, quality of life, as well as physical and psychological functioning. Therefore, the current evidence is mixed and there are insufficient data to definitively confirm the full impact of the use of MBIs in chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia, chronic low back pain, rheumatoid arthritis, and chronic musculoskeletal pain. The lack of compelling evidence at this time signals a demand for higher quality investigations in this area. Research examining MBIs and concomitant CBT may be of great value in order to synergize and strengthen patient outcomes. 展开更多

Background:Childhood leukemia,a malignant proliferative disorder of the hematopoietic system and the most common childhood cancer, poses a significant threat to the lives and health of affected children. For parents,a leukemia diagnosis in their child is a profoundly traumatic event. As primary caregivers, they endure immense psychological distress and caregiving stress throughout the prolonged and demanding treatment process, which can adversely affect their own well-being and caregiving capacity. However, the psychological mechanisms, such as the role of mindfulness, linking caregiver stress to parental coping strategies remain underexplored, and evidence-based interventions to support these parents are needed. Methods:In Study 1,we administered a cross-sectional survey to 242 parents of children with leukemia who were hospitalized at the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University between January and August 2024.Participants completed measures assessing caregiver burden, mindful attention awareness, and parental coping style. In Study 2,we further evaluated the effects of a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction(MBSR)intervention. Results:The results of Study 1 revealed:(1)The caregiving stress significantly and negatively predicted coping style(β=−1.18,95%CI[−2.18,−0.18],p<0.01).(2)Caregiving stress also significantly and negatively predicted mindfulness(β=−1.90,95%CI[−2.43,−1.38],p<0.01).(3)Conversely,mindfulness significantly and positively predicted coping style(β=0.85,95%CI[0.62,1.07],p<0.01).These findings suggest that mindfulness mediates the relationship between caregiver burden and coping style. In Study 2,the experimental group showed a significant decrease in caregiver stress post-intervention(t=2.24,p<0.05),a significant increase in mindfulness(t=−4.61,p<0.001),and a significant improvement in coping style(t=−2.36,p<0.01).No significant changes were observed in the control group. Conclusion:MBSR can effectively enhance mindfulness and promote adaptive coping strategies, while reducing caregiver burden among parents of children with leukemia. 展开更多

The intersection of visual impairment and mental health has profound effects on quality of life and warrants attention from healthcare providers, educators, and policymakers. With 20 million children under the age of 14 affected globally, older adults also experience significant psychological impact including depression, anxiety, and cognitive impairment. The implications of vision-related challenges extend far beyond mere sight.Depression and anxiety, exacerbated by social isolation and reduced physical activity, underscore the need for comprehensive interventions that address both medical and psychosocial dimensions.By recognizing the profound impact of ocular morbidities like strabismus, myopia, glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration on mental health and investing in effective treatments and inclusive practices, society can pave the way for a healthier, more equitable future for affected individuals. There is evidence that myopic children experience a higher prevalence of depressive symptoms compared to their normal peers, and interventions like the correction of strabismus can enhance psychological outcome-demonstrating the value of an integrated management approach. 展开更多

Emergency department nurses face severe occupational stress leading to anxiety, depression, and burnout, which significantly impair their well-being and patientcare quality. This narrative review examined the role of mindfulness-based stress reduction(MBSR)in addressing these challenges.Rooted in nonjudgmental present-moment awareness,MBSR enhances emotional regulation and reduces psychological distress by fostering adaptive coping strategies.Studies have demonstrated its efficacy in lowering anxiety, depressive symptoms, and emotional exhaustion, while improving workplace well-being,empathy,and job satisfaction.Mechanistically,MBSR improves interoceptive awareness and autonomic balance,as evidenced by physiological markers such as heart rate variability. However, gaps remain in long-term efficacy assessments, personalized interventions, and integration with multidisciplinary approaches.Future research should prioritize tailored biomarker-driven programs, longitudinal studies, and scalable implementation strategies in high-stress clinical settings. This review underscores MBSR’s potential as a sustainable,evidence-based tool to enhance emergency department nurses’mental health and professional performance, advocating for broader adoption and further refinement of its practical applications. 展开更多

The ongoing advancement of aerospace technology globally offers technical support for human exploration of outer space.Nevertheless, astronauts encounter microgravity environments during their missions in outer space, which significantly affects the functionality of various physiological systems, including the skeletal, muscular and immune systems.Among them,microgravity-induced bone loss is particularly severe.Bone loss markedly elevates the risk of osteoporosis and fractures, presenting a substantial obstacle to astronauts’ability to perform tasks in the space environment and maintain their physical health.Consequently, implementing scientifically grounded preventive and therapeutic measures is essential for mitigating microgravity-induced bone loss.Currently, numerous intervention strategies have been demonstrated to effectively address microgravity-induced bone loss, such as pharmacological treatment, nutritional supplementation, and exercise intervention. However, the efficacy of these interventions varies, and some may result in adverse effects. Therefore, this narrative review analyzes and summarizes the effects of various interventions on bone loss caused by microgravity, aiming to provide a scientific theoretical basis for determining the optimal intervention strategy. 展开更多

Anxiety disorders following percutaneous coronary intervention for acute myocardial infarction affect approximately 20%-40%of patients, with a significantly greater prevalence in females(OR=1.8).These disorders manifest through physiological symptoms, cognitive distortions, behavioral avoidance, and cardiacspecific concerns and typically emerge within 1-2 weeks post-procedure.Key risk factors include female sex, younger age(<55 years),psychiatric history, procedural complexity, and poor social support.Anxiety negatively affects cardiovascular outcomes when left untreated, leading to higher readmission rates(HR=1.47)and recurrent cardiovascular events(HR=1.31),as well as lower medication adherence and quality of life.Screening is optimally conducted 7-10 days postprocedure via validated tools such as the Hospital Anxiety and Depr-ession Scale,Anxiety.Heart-specific cognitive behavioral therapy(SMD=-0.72),selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors(especially sertraline),and integrated cardiac rehabilitation programs that incorporate both psychological and physical elements are among the beneficial interventions that have been supported by evidence. These all-encompassing strategies show long-term improvements in cardiovascular outcomes, functional ability, and healthcare expenses in addition to immediate benefits in lowering anxiety.Digital initiatives have the potential to increase access, especially in underprivileged areas.Early identification of highrisk patients and implementation of timely, targeted interventions represent crucial strategies for improving both psychological and cardiovascular outcomes in this vulnerable population. 展开更多

Background Quantitative flow ratio(QFR)based lesion selection for percutaneous coronary intervention(PCI)treatment has shown clinical benefits in terms of reduced risk for myocardial infarction and repeat revascularization.Whether this benefit is consistent across different age groups still needs further investigation. Methods In this prespecified subgroup study of FAVORⅢChina trial,we compared long-term clinical outcomes between QFR-guided and angiography-guided PCI among different age groups among 3825 enrolled subjects. The primary endpoint was major adverse cardiac events(MACEs),a composite of all-cause death, myocardial infarction, and ischemia-driven revascularization. Results Of the 3825 patients,1717(44.9%)were aged≥65 years. At baseline,patients≥65 had higher rates of hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, stroke history(P<0.0001),and peripheral vascular disease(P=0.024)and had higher SYNTAX scores(P=0.0095).Compared with standard angiography guidance, the QFR-guided strategy consistently reduced the 1-year(≥65 years,6.04%vs.9.19%,HR=0.65,95%CI:0.46–0.92;<65 years,5.53%vs.8.43%,HR=0.65,95%CI:0.47–0.91)and 3-year MACE rates in both age groups(≥65 years,11.8%vs.15.2%,HR:0.75,95%CI:0.58–0.98;<65 years,9.5%vs.14.6%,HR=0.63;95%CI:0.49–0.81),without a significant interaction(Pinteraction=0.99).Within the QFR-guided group, the 3-year MACE rate in patients with deferred vessels was numerically greater in patients aged≥65 years than in those aged<65 years(8.3%vs.3.0%,P=0.10).Conclusions Although with higher rate of comorbidities and more complex coronary anatomy, the long-term benefit of the QFR-guided PCI strategy remained consistent in patients≥65 years, compared with those<65 years. 展开更多

There have been an increasing number of studies on climate change and population health over the past 20 years, with most focusing on health risk assessment, targeting different locations and populations with various diseases[1−2].While these studies have provided the necessary epidemiological evidence for health authorities in policymaking,it is time to develop and implement tailored health interventions to protect the health and well-being of communities, and particularly that of vulnerable groups. 展开更多

Psychological interventions have demonstrated efficacy in improving patients’emotional state, cognition, and thinking abilities, thereby enhancing their quality of life and survival. This review examines literature from the China National Knowledge Infrastructure,Wanfang Data,Web of Science, and PubMed databases published over the past decade, focusing on the use of psychotherapy for poststroke anxiety and depression. The prevalence of anxiety and depression is significantly higher among patients who have experienced a stroke than in the general population, possibly due to vestibular dysfunction following brain injury.Current psychological interventions for stroke patients include cognitive behavioral therapy, supportive psychotherapy, music and art therapy, and exercise therapy. These approaches have been shown to promote psychological wellbeing and physical rehabilitation. 展开更多

Purpose:This study aimed to provide comparative evidence on the effectiveness of various lifestyle interventions on body composition management for preschool and school-aged children. Methods:PubMed(MEDLINE),Embase,CINAHL,and Web of Science were systematically searched for this network meta-analysis.Randomized controlled studies(RCTs)that included children aged 4-12 years with no physical or mental conditions;performed at least 1 type of lifestyle intervention;reported change in body mass index(BMI),BMI z-score,or body fat percentage(BFP);and were published between January2010 and August 2023 were included. Results:The final analysis included 91 RCTs with aggregate data for 58,649 children. All interventions were categorized into single-arm approaches(physical activity, diet, and behavioral and informational support)and combined arms approaches(bicomponent and multicomponent treatment).Multicomponent treatment showed significant effectiveness on the reduction of BMI(mean deviation(MD)-0.49,95%confidence interval(95%CI):-0.88 to-0.12),BMI z-score(MD=-0.11,95%CI:-0.18 to-0.04),and BFP(MD=-1.69,95%CI:-2.97 to-0.42)compared to the usual care condition.Bicomponent treatment also significantly reduced BMI(MD=-0.28,95%CI:-0.54 to-0.04)and BMI z-score(MD=-0.07,95%CI:-0.12 to-0.02)compared to usual care. Conclusion:Interventions targeting multiple lifestyle components achieved greater reductions in children's BMI and BFP.Among single-component approaches, physical activity engagement emerged as the most effective. These findings should guide practitioners in recommending comprehensive lifestyle modifications for children. Moreover, children with higher initial BMI and body fat levels tend to exhibit more positive responses to lifestyle interventions aimed at managing obesity. 展开更多
