Graduate students universally struggle with vague topics,insufficient innovation,and logical gaps in research proposals,highlighting the need for structured scientific training.This study presents an innovative pedago...Graduate students universally struggle with vague topics,insufficient innovation,and logical gaps in research proposals,highlighting the need for structured scientific training.This study presents an innovative pedagogical model embedding scholarly literature’s logical architecture into LBL-RBL hybrid teaching,implemented in Kunming Medical University’s Neuropathophysiology course.Targeting the complexity of neurological disease mechanisms,the course integrates lecture-based learning(LBL)and research-based learning(RBL)through a small-cohort framework featuring personalized literature-logic embedding→targeted lecture reinforcement→multi-round proposal iteration.Faculty deconstructed domain literature to establish a three-phase training system(“Logic Demonstration-Methodology Mapping-Proposal Embedding”),systematically merging academic logic with research methodology over 9 weeks.Results demonstrate that this problem-driven approach creates authentic scientific inquiry scenarios,activating student knowledge co-construction and collaborative exploration.It successfully enables dynamic competency progression through“cognitive deconstruction→methodological practice→proposal refinement,”significantly enhancing proposal rigor and innovation.This study offers a scalable dual-track solution for cultivating advanced scientific capabilities in medical graduate education.展开更多
The emergence of Artificial Intelligence(AI)continues to disrupt the traditionally established processes in higher education institutions,including thesis supervision.While the challenges and benefits of AI use in aca...The emergence of Artificial Intelligence(AI)continues to disrupt the traditionally established processes in higher education institutions,including thesis supervision.While the challenges and benefits of AI use in academic contexts have been well documented,a knowledge gap exists in our understanding of how AI has changed students’approach to thesis writing and supervisor feedback.This study contributes to the knowledge of the AI-motivated issues in thesis supervision with insights from in-depth interviews with eight EFL thesis students at an English-medium-instruction university with a compulsory thesis component.Findings suggest that the traditional expectations of thesis supervision have changed due to AI use.As lower-order issues can be addressed with AI,students now expect content and research process-related guidance.While AI poses considerable challenges due to interaction patterns,information relevance,and accuracy,students are learning to successfully navigate these challenges while taking full advantage of editing and language instruction functions that AI provides,thus significantly reducing their and their supervisors’workload and logistics.Since these skills take time to develop,universities are advised to actively incorporate AI instruction in the Writing Center operations.Further suggestions on AI integration in the supervision process are provided.展开更多

The most often studied topic was cardiova...This review aimed to analyze the trends and contributions of nursing doctoral theses produced in Hong Kong. A total of 56 nursing doctoral theses were included in this review. The most often studied topic was cardiovascular rehabilitation care (n = 9, 16%). More recently, the most often studied topics has been health technology advancements in nursing care (n = 6, 10.7%). The common trend of study methods was to be quantitative in nature. Of the total, 35 out of 56 were quantitative studies. Half were experimental/ quasi-experimental research studies (n = 28, 50%). For theoretical foundations or applications, the majority (n = 21, 36%) of doctoral theses had no specific theoretical/conceptual models as study frameworks. This trend indicates that there is space for improving the theoretical and philosophical foundation of nursing research in Hong Kong. For the contributions of doctoral thesis research, Hong Kong nursing scholars place more emphasis on direct enhancement of clinical practice or the improvement of patient outcomes. This review provides concrete evidence of the status of nursing research and knowledge development in Hong Kong nursing.展开更多

The introductions are the essence of aca...The introduction of the academic paper, as a type of discourse, are not only an indispensable part of the thesis, but also a kind of social behavior with communicative purpose. The introductions are the essence of academic papers, so it is particularly important for postgraduates to write English introduction. Therefore, the introduction of academic writing, as a genre, has been widely studied for many years. This study analyzes a 50-research-article corpus of English introductions chosen at random with theories relating to genre and genre analysis. These research articles from masters' graduation thesis in the field of applied linguistics(Research Article, i.e. for RA) are analyzed from macro-level and micro-level. And this study is to explore English postgraduates how to choose genre structure, language forms and the communicative purpose that the introductions should achieve. The result shows that some English introductions of the masters' graduation thesis differ from the international general pattern in frequency and quantity of moves, due to the influence of the context. To some extent, this study is significant in teaching academic paper writing.展开更多
Graduate education is the main way to train high-level innovative talents,the basic layout to cope with the global talent competition,and the important cornerstone for implementing the innovation-driven development st...Graduate education is the main way to train high-level innovative talents,the basic layout to cope with the global talent competition,and the important cornerstone for implementing the innovation-driven development strategy and building an innovation-driven country.Therefore,graduate education is of great remarkably to the development of national education.As an important manifestation of graduate education,the quality of a graduate thesis should receive more attention.It is conducive to promoting the quality of graduates by supervising and examining the quality of the graduate thesis.For this purpose,this work is based on textmining,expert interviews,and questionnaire surveys to obtain the factors influencing the quality of a graduate thesis first.Then,through three rounds of expert consultation,a multidimensional evaluation indicator system for the graduate thesis quality is built.Furthermore,probabilistic linguistic termsets(PLTSs)are utilized to obtain the initial evaluation information and apply the stepwise weight assessment ratio analysis method to determine the weights of attributes.In the ensuing step,the novel multi-attribute border approximation area comparison based on the PLTS method is established.Finally,the proposed method is employed in a case study concerning the quality evaluation of a graduate thesis and the effectiveness of this approach is further illustrated.展开更多

Two research questions and two hypotheses guid...The study investigated challenges encountered and coping strategies adopted by postgraduate students of agricultural education in writing thesis in Nigerian universities. Two research questions and two hypotheses guided the study. The study was conducted in Nigerian universities offering post-graduate programme in agricultural education. The population for the study was 118 made up of 14 postgraduate diploma, 66 masters and 38 doctoral students writing thesis in agricultural education. The entire population was involved in the study. An instrument tilted: Challenges and Coping Strategies Questionnaire (CCSQ) was used for data collection. Three experts validated the questionnaire. Cronbach alpha reliability method was used to determine the internal consistency of the questionnaire. A reliability coefficient of 0.85 was obtained. A total of 97 copies of the questionnaire were returned representing 93 percent return rate. Data collected for the study were analyzed using mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions while Analysis of Variance was used to test hypothesis of no significant difference at P ≤ 0.05 level of significance. The statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) was the tool employed to analyze the data collected. It was found out that 28 challenges were encountered by postgraduate students of agricultural education in thesis writing while 15 coping strategies were adopted by postgraduate students of agricultural education in thesis writing. The recommendations were that postgraduate students of agricultural education who have abandoned their thesis writing should adopt the identified coping strategies to complete their programme among others.展开更多

To reduce the subjectivity, triangular fuzzy number is used as index set to give weight, and on this basis, fuzzy comprehensive evaluation is used to evaluate the quality of graduation thesis. The empirical analysis shows that the combination of triangular fuzzy number and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation has certain practical value in the quality evaluation of graduation thesis.展开更多
