Based on the three-dimensional elastic-plastic finite element analysis of the 8"(203.2 mm)drill collar joint,this paper studies the mechanical characteristics of the pin and box of NC56 drill collar joints under ...Based on the three-dimensional elastic-plastic finite element analysis of the 8"(203.2 mm)drill collar joint,this paper studies the mechanical characteristics of the pin and box of NC56 drill collar joints under complex load conditions,as well as the downhole secondary makeup features,and calculates the downhole equivalent impact torque with the relative offset at the shoulder of internal and external threads.On the basis of verifying the correctness of the calculation results by using measured results in Well GT1,the prediction model of the downhole equivalent impact torque is formed and applied in the first extra-deep well with a depth over 10000 m in China(Well SDTK1).The results indicate that under complex loads,the stress distribution in drill collar joints is uneven,with relatively higher von Mises stress at the shoulder and the threads close to the shoulder.For 203.2 mm drill collar joints pre-tightened according to the make-up torque recommended by American Petroleum Institute standards,when the downhole equivalent impact torque exceeds 65 kN·m,the preload balance of the joint is disrupted,leading to secondary make-up of the joint.As the downhole equivalent impact torque increases,the relative offset at the shoulder of internal and external threads increases.The calculation results reveal that there exists significant downhole impact torque in Well SDTK1 with complex loading environment.It is necessary to use double shoulder collar joints to improve the impact torque resistance of the joint or optimize the operating parameters to reduce the downhole impact torque,and effectively prevent drilling tool failure.展开更多

The objective of this study was to determine if makeup can divert observers’ gaze from areas of inflammatory acne lesions. Both base and point makeup were applied to two Japanese female patients with mild to moderate acne vulgaris to hide skin manifestations, as well as to accentuate the eyes and lips. Photographs of their faces were shown, at various stages of makeup application, to 22 observers (11 men and 11 women). The effects of makeup application, and other eye-diverting strategies (e.g., clothing, accessories, and hairstyle), used to draw observers’ gaze away from acne lesions, were evaluated by analyzing observers’ eye movements. As base makeup application proceeded, time to first fixation, total fixation duration, and fixation count changed. Compared to “no makeup”, the time to first fixation, total fixation duration, and fixation count also decreased significantly after point makeup application. The additional eye-diverting strategies used also had significant gaze-diverting effects. Therefore, makeup can be useful for patients with acne to divert others’ gaze from lesions. Objective: To test the hypothesis that usage of foundation makeup (FM) and sunscreen lotion (SS), used individually or in combination, is associated with significant changes in the likelihood of lupus symptom exacerba...Objective: To test the hypothesis that usage of foundation makeup (FM) and sunscreen lotion (SS), used individually or in combination, is associated with significant changes in the likelihood of lupus symptom exacerbation. Methods: Self-reported flare days (SRF) and use of FM and SS products, were retrospectively examined in 80 Caucasian Australian women with ACR classified SLE for a year. Negative binomial regression modelled SRF days (outcome) against independent FMSS variable and covariates: age;diagnosis years;outdoor hours;BMI;stress;immune therapy medication (ITM) use. Results: Statistically significant inverse associations between SRF days and FMSS use were found. Protective effects were statistically significant (p < 0.05) for combined FMSS exposure days (OR 0.998, CI 0.997 - 1.0) and FM alone (OR 0.603, CI 0.363 - 1.0). Significant associations consistent with increased SRF risk were seen in sub-analysis models for participants taking ITM: univariate model (OR 1.968, p = 0.03);multivariate model for FMSS (OR 2.11, CI 1.161 - 3.835);FM days (OR 1.855, CI 1.023 - 3.364). Results show SRF day reduction of 0.15% for each day of product exposure. Conclusion: Study results highlight protective effects of wearing FM with or without SS. This reduction in flare days ultimately has potential to improve quality of life in SLE patients.展开更多

The importance of attractiveness among blind persons has not been assessed. We investigated the influence of makeup on brain activity of blind persons using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Participants were 7 blind females (BFs) who learned to fully apply makeup and 9 mostly age-matched normally sighted females (NSFs). Brain activity was measured using fMRI before and after application of makeup and during a makeup image task in each state. In the default mode network at rest, there was no difference between the BFs and NSFs. However, a lateral visual network to the opposite side was observed in the NSFs, whereas no such network was noted in the BFs. A weak network was noted in the BFs in the occipital fusiform gyrus and temporal occipital fusiform cortex, and an extensive visual area network defect was noted. Also, activity after makeup application was significantly higher in the nucleus accumbens, pallidum, and hippocampus. Activity in the right middle cingulate gyrus, right cerebral white matter, and right anterior cingulate gyrus was higher before makeup in both BFs and NSFs, and the activity was significantly higher and more extensive in the BFs. In conclusion, applying makeup is a personally rewarding activity, even for BFs, as it strongly activates the reward system and the reward/memory system network, even in the absence of a visual area network.展开更多

.Recently,makeup transfer task has been widely explored with the development of deep learning.However,existing methods have shortcomings in more complex lighting situations in the real world because they do not consid....Recently,makeup transfer task has been widely explored with the development of deep learning.However,existing methods have shortcomings in more complex lighting situations in the real world because they do not consider the interference of lighting factors on facial features.To solve the above problem,we propose a local highlight and shadow adaptively repairing GAN for illumination-robust makeup transfer.We first map the 2D face images to UV representations and perform makeup transfer in the UV texture space,which explicitly removes the spatial misalignment to achieve pose and expression invariant makeup transfer.Furthermore,we take advantage of the face symmetry in the UV texture space to design an illumination repair module.It can adaptively repair the features affected by asymmetric local highlight and shadow based on a process of flipping and multi-layer attention fusion.In addition,the multi-layer attention maps are obtained by a pre-trained illumination classification network and hence have the ability to indicate local highlight and shadow areas.Comprehensive experiment results demonstrate the consistent effectiveness and clear advantages of our method,which significantly improve the robustness against local light effects and generate natural transfer results.展开更多
The significant amount of ash content in agricultural biomass presents an enormous challenge for efficient conversion processes.In addressing this issue,various deashing treatments have been tested and established,inc...The significant amount of ash content in agricultural biomass presents an enormous challenge for efficient conversion processes.In addressing this issue,various deashing treatments have been tested and established,including simple leaching techniques,which can either be performed with or without the addition of chemical agents.These techniques hold promise for improving the deashing efficiency while potentially altering the structural and chemical composition of biomass,specifically lignin content,which is the key focus of this review.This review starts by exploring the presence of ash in agricultural residues and its impact on biomass properties.Next,this review examines deashing strategies aimed at reducing ash levels in biomass followed by analysis of the resulting changes in lignin physical and chemical properties as well as its thermal characteristics.The final part of this review is concluded by the discussion on the limitations of current approaches and the possible future directions to address the challenges covering the environmental impacts of the deashing treatments.A green process approach is emphasized as a sustainable solution with the aim to minimize negative environmental impacts associated with chemical usage during deashing.Finally,this review highlights the potential for ash recovery as a byproduct of the deashing processes,paving the way for an integrative,closed-loop approach within the biorefinery concept.展开更多
