MiguelÁngel Asturias’work titled Men of Maize stands as a significant masterpiece within the realm of Latin American magical realism literature.It unfolds and discloses the profound and abiding antagonism that exists between Indian culture and modern capitalism by means of a prose narrative that is rendered in a poeticized fashion,replete with rich mythological symbols as well as complex social conflicts that are intricately interwoven.This paper undertakes an analysis across four distinct aspects,namely the backdrop or setting against which the work was created,the very definition along with the characteristic features that are emblematic of magical realism,the context or background within which it came into being and subsequently developed,and the specific and tangible manifestations of the magical realist writing techniques as they are exemplified in Men of Maize.The study that has been conducted reveals that Men of Maize manages to demonstrate the historical fissure or divide and the cultural antagonism that pervades Latin American society through the employment of techniques such as the clash of cultures,a non-traditional narrative structure that breaks away from the norm,and the symbolism associated with deities.Moreover,it simultaneously engages in a profound and incisive reflection upon the marginalization of traditional culture during the course of the modernization process.The creative output of Asturias is not solely a critique leveled at the social reality of Latin America;rather,it also represents an exploration of the common issues and challenges that are faced by mankind at large,thereby laying down an important and substantial foundation for the further development of magical realism literature. 展开更多

由烟草疫霉引起的黑胫病是烟草主要病害之一,严重影响烟叶的产量和品质。为了进一步明确烟草黑胫病抗性遗传基础,发掘烟草黑胫病抗性位点,采用8亲本组配的MAGIC(Multiparent Advanced Generation Inter-Cross)群体为试验材料,在苗期和... 由烟草疫霉引起的黑胫病是烟草主要病害之一,严重影响烟叶的产量和品质。为了进一步明确烟草黑胫病抗性遗传基础,发掘烟草黑胫病抗性位点,采用8亲本组配的MAGIC(Multiparent Advanced Generation Inter-Cross)群体为试验材料,在苗期和大田期调查亲本及后代群体的黑胫病抗性;利用430K烟草SNP(SingleNucleotidePoly-morphism)芯片鉴定基因型,并对烟草黑胫病不同生育期抗性进行全基因组关联分析(Genome-Wide Association Study,GWAS)。结果显示,在苗期和大田期重复定位到2个与黑胫病病情指数及发病率相关的黑胫病抗性主效QTL(Quantitative Trait Locus),分别位于7号和14号染色体,最显著SNP物理位置分别在7号染色体175557310 bp和14号染色体7074846bp;其中,7号染色体定位结果与前人研究结果一致,14号染色体定位结果为烟草黑胫病抗性新位点。本研究为深入挖掘烟草抗黑胫病主效基因和开展抗性分子标记辅助改良提供参考。 展开更多

Multiparent advanced generation inter-cross(MAGIC)populations improve the accuracy of quantitative trait loci mapping compared to biparental populations by increasing diversity and reducing linkage disequilibrium between variants.Here we describe the development of two MAGIC populations derived from a cross of 11 founder lines from the INTA(National Institute for Agricultural Technology in Argentina)sunflower breeding program.The founder lines are fertility maintainer inbred lines that exhibit genetic diversity in several traits,including flowering cycle,plant architecture,disease resistance,oil content and oil quality.The crossing scheme applied follows the design of two-way,four-way and eight-way crosses with a modification to increase the number of recombinations and shorten the linkage disequilibrium.Phenotyping a subset of F_(2)families and F_5 lines for different traits shows an increase in the diversity of the analyzed traits compared to the parental lines.In addition,we identified lines with transgressive segregation for Sunflower Verticillium Wilt resistance.These results confirm that the MAGIC populations will serve as unique genetic and genomic resources to better characterize the genetics of complex traits and identify potentially superior alleles for sunflower breeding.It will also enrich the gene pool of fertility maintainers(A/B line)of the sunflower germplasm and facilitate the introduction of new breeding methods to select female parents for use in AxR combinations to obtain superior sunflower hybrids. 展开更多

Group frames via magic states with applications to SIC-POVMs and MUBs

We connect magic(non-stabilizer)states,symmetric informationally complete positive operator valued measures(SIC-POVMs),and mutually unbiased bases(MUBs)in the context of group frames,and study their interplay.Magic states are quantum resources in the stabilizer formalism of quantum computation.SIC-POVMs and MUBs are fundamental structures in quantum information theory with many applications in quantum foundations,quantum state tomography,and quantum cryptography,etc.In this work,we study group frames constructed from some prominent magic states,and further investigate their applications.Our method exploits the orbit of discrete Heisenberg-Weyl group acting on an initial fiducial state.We quantify the distance of the group frames from SIC-POVMs and MUBs,respectively.As a simple corollary,we reproduce a complete family of MUBs of any prime dimensional system by introducing the concept of MUB fiducial states,analogous to the well-known SIC-POVM fiducial states.We present an intuitive and direct construction of MUB fiducial states via quantum T-gates,and demonstrate that for the qubit system,there are twelve MUB fiducial states,which coincide with the H-type magic states.We compare MUB fiducial states and SIC-POVM fiducial states from the perspective of magic resource for stabilizer quantum computation.We further pose the challenging issue of identifying all MUB fiducial states in general dimensions. 展开更多

Background Cotton is an important cash crop in China and a key component of the global textile market.Verticil-lium wilt is a major factor affecting cotton yield.Single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)markers and phenotypic data can be used to identify genetic markers and loci associated with cotton resistance to Verticillium wilt.We used eight upland cotton parent materials in this study to construct a multiparent advanced generation inter-cross(MAGIC)population comprising 320 lines.The Verticillium wilt resistance of the MAGIC population was identified in the green-house in 2019,and the average relative disease index(ARDI)was calculated.A genome-wide association study(GWAS)was performed to discover SNP markers/genes associated with Verticillium wilt resistance.Results ARDI of the MAGIC population showed wide variation,ranging from 16.7 to 79.4 across three replicates.This variation reflected a diverse range of resistance to Verticillium wilt within the population.Analysis of distribution pat-terns across the environments revealed consistent trends,with coefficients of variation between 12.25%and 21.96%.Families with higher ARDI values,indicating stronger resistance,were more common,likely due to genetic diver-sity and environmental factors.Population structure analysis divided the MAGIC population into three subgroups,with Group I showing higher genetic variation and Groups II and III displaying more uniform resistance performance.Principal component analysis(PCA)confirmed these divisions,highlighting the genetic diversity underlying Verticil-lium wilt resistance.Through GWAS,we identified 19 SNPs significantly associated with Verticillium wilt resistance,distributed across three chromosomes.The screening of candidate genes was performed on the transcriptome derived from resistant and susceptible cultivars,combined with gene annotation and tissue expression patterns,and two key candidate genes,Ghir_A01G006660 and Ghir_A02G008980,were found to be potentially associated with Verticillium wilt resistance.This suggests that these two candidate genes may play an important role in responding to Verticillium wilt.Conclusion This study aims to dissect the genetic basis of Verticillium wilt resistance in cotton by using a MAGIC population and GWAS.The study seeks to provide valuable genetic resources for marker-assisted breeding and enhance the understanding of resistance mechanisms to improve cotton resilience against Verticillium wilt. 展开更多

The nuclei around the shell closure were more tightly bound than adjacent nuclei. Additionally, based on the WS4 mass model (Wang et al., Phys. Lett.B 734, 215 (2014)), we extended the two-potential approach to predict the α-decay half-lives of nuclei around N values of178 and 184 with Z of 119 and 120. 目的探讨一站式弛豫定量(MAGi C)在原发性干燥综合征(pSS)中应用价值。方法选择33例pSS女性患者(pSS组),年龄29~81岁,平均年龄53.85岁;病程1~14个月,平均病程6.5个月。同期选择25例女性健康志愿者(健康组),年龄26~84岁,平均年龄50.19岁,... 目的探讨一站式弛豫定量(MAGi C)在原发性干燥综合征(pSS)中应用价值。方法选择33例pSS女性患者(pSS组),年龄29~81岁,平均年龄53.85岁;病程1~14个月,平均病程6.5个月。同期选择25例女性健康志愿者(健康组),年龄26~84岁,平均年龄50.19岁,无pSS相关病程。对所有受试者双侧腮腺进行常规序列和MAGi C序列扫描,通过后处理获得腮腺组织的MAGi C定量图谱并测量所有受试者腮腺的T_(1)均值、T_(2)均值、质子密度(PD)均值。利用组内相关系数(ICC)评估腮腺组织T_(1)均值、T_(2)均值、PD均值组内和组间测量的一致性。比较pSS组与健康组之间各均值的差异,并绘制受试者工作特性(ROC)曲线评估各均值对pSS的诊断效能,应用DeLong检验比较各均值诊断效能的差异。结果观察者组内和组间测量均值的一致性均较好(r>0.9)。pSS组T_(1)均值和T_(2)均值均高于健康组[(711.17±90.30)ms vs(615.58±60.66)ms、(89.92±10.69)ms vs(77.88±6.69)ms。P<0.05],pSS组与健康组间PD均值差异无统计学意义(t=-1.540,P=0.129)。ROC曲线显示T1均值、T2均值及PD均值诊断pSS的AUC值分别为0.827、0.842、0.614,三者的灵敏度、特异度分别为80.0%、81.2%,76.0%、84.3%,80.0%、50.0%,三者95%可信区间(CI)分别为0.704~0.915、0.721~0.925、0.476~0.740,约登指数分别为0.612、0.603、0.300,三者的截断值分别为650 ms、82 ms、83 pu。T_(1)均值和T_(2)均值之间AUC值差异无统计学意义(P>0.05),且高于PD均值(P<0.05)。T_(1)均值联合T_(2)均值诊断pSS的AUC值、灵敏度、特异度、95%CI、约登指数分别为0.935、100.0%、78.1%、0.837~0.983、0.781,均明显高于T_(1)均值、T_(2)均值、PD均值(P均<0.05)。结论MAGi C技术可应用于鉴别pSS,且腮腺组织的T_(1)均值、T_(2)均值皆有一定的诊断效能,二者联合可以为pSS的MRI影像诊断提供更高的诊断价值。 展开更多
