From the perspective of classification strength and correlation, three experiments are performed to investigate the potential application of random forest to traffic incident detection: comparison with a different number of decision trees; comparison with different decision trees; comparison with the neural network. The real traffic data of the 1-880 database is used in the experiments. The detection performance is evaluated by the common criteria including the detection rate, the false alarm rate, the mean time to detection, the classification rate and the area under the curve of the receiver operating characteristic (ROC). The experimental results indicate that the model based on random forest can improve the decision rate, reduce the testing time, and obtain a higher classification rate. Meanwhile, it is competitive compared with multi-layer feed forward neural networks (MLF).展开更多

The incident response framework based on rule-based reasoning, case-based reasoning and Bayesian networks reasoning is presented. First, a freeway incident management system (RK-IMS) based on rule-based reasoning is developed and applied for incident management in the northern section of the Nanjing-Lianyunguang Freeway. Then, field data from the two-year long operations of the RK-IMS are analyzed. Representations of incident case structures and Bayesian networks(BNs) structures related to incident responses are deduced. Finally, the k-nearest neighbor (k-NN) algorithm is applied to calculate the similarities of the cases. The preplan generation and the control strategy by integrating the k-NN algorithm are also developed. The model is validated by using incident data of the year 2006 from the RK-IMS. The comparison results indicate that the proposed algorithm is accurate and reliable.展开更多

First, the expert appraisal approach is used to select the primary evaluation index. As a result, 81 indices and the hierarchical structures of the index such as the object layer, the sub-object layer, the criterion layer and the index layer are determined. Then, based on the fuzzy characteristics of each index layer, the analytical hierarchy process(AHP)and the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation are applied to generate the weight and the satisfaction of the index and the criterion layers. When analyzing the relationship between the sub-object layer and the object layer, it is easy to find that the number of sub-objects is too large and sub-objects are significantly redundant. The partial least square (PLS) is proposed to solve the problems. Finally, an application example, whose result has already been accepted and employed as the indication of a new project in improving incident management, is introduced and the result verifies the feasibility and efficiency of the model.展开更多

In this paper, the vertical and the horizontal speeds of sand particles located at 1.0 mm above a sand-bed in a wind-blown sand flux are observed with the aid of Phase Doppler Anemometry (PDA) in a wind tunnel. Based on the experimental data, the probability distributions of not only the vertical lift-off speed but also the lift-off velocity as well as its horizontal component and the incident velocity as well as its vertical and horizontal components can be obtained by the equal distance histogram method. It is found, according to the results of the X^2-test for these probability distributions, that the probability density functions (pdf's) of the sand particles' lift-off and incident velocities as well as their vertical com- ponents are described by the Gamma density function with different peak values and shapes and the downwind incident and lift-off horizontal speeds, respectively, can be described by the lognormal and the Gamma density functions, These pdf's depend on not only the sand particle diameter but also the wind speed.展开更多

For these cases, the incident boundary conditions are difficult to evaluate. In order to solve this problem, a combined wave model is developed in the present paper based on the Boussinesq equation and the wave action balance equation. Instead of the one-line wave generation method, a multi-line generation method is proposed for the combined model. Application of this method is given to a case that the harbor is designed with two entrances and the angle between the generation line and the isobath is large and the results are shown reasonable. We suggest that the wave generation method on multi-lines might also be introduced to the wave physical model as the replacement for the one-line generation method.展开更多

This paper describes carefully an approach to specifying the incident wave boundary conditions combined with a set sponge layer to absorb the reflected waves towards the incident boundary. Incorporated into a time-dependent numerical model, whose governing equations are the Boussinesq-type ones, the effectiveness of the approach is studied in detail. The general boundary conditions, describing the down-wave boundary conditions are also generalized to the case of random waves. The numerical model is in detail examined. The test cases include both the normal one-dimensional incident regular or random waves and the two-dimensional oblique incident regular waves. The calculated results show that the present approach is effective on damping the reflected waves towards the incident wave boundary.展开更多

The novel element is designed by loading the rectangular microstrip element with L-shaped conducting patch at its two ends. Based on the spectral-domain method, the frequency response including angle effect and polarization effect of the frequency selective surface (FSS) structure are analysed and the plots of the frequency versus transmission coefficient are obtained. As a result of the numerical analysis, it is shown that if the source polarization is changed, polarization-independence of previous FSS design can be achieved only for normal incidence, which limits most FSS applications. But in our proposed structure, the better polarization-independency for arbitrary incident angle can be achieved. It is observed that the simulated result comes very close to the experimental result.展开更多

文摘Anti-jamming solutions based on antenna arrays enhance the anti-jamming ability and the robustness of global navigation satellite system(GNSS)receiver remarkably. However, the performance of the receiver will deteriorate significantly in the overloaded interferences scenario. We define the overloaded interferences scenario as where the number of interferences is more than or equal to the number of antenna arrays elements. In this paper, the effect mechanism of interferences with different incident directions is found by studying the anti-jamming performance of the adaptive space filter. The theoretical analysis and conclusions, which are first validated through numerical examples, reveal the relationships between the optimal weight vector and the eigenvectors of the input signal autocorrelation matrix, the relationships between the interference cancellation ratio(ICR),the signal to interference and noise power ratio(SINR)of the adaptive space filter output and the number of interferences, the eigenvalues of the input signal autocorrelation matrix. In addition, two simulation experiments are utilized to further corroborate the theoretical findings through soft anti-jamming receiver. The simulation results match well with the theoretical analysis results, thus validating the effect mechanism of overloaded interferences. The simulation results show that, for a four elements circular array, the performance difference is up to 19 dB with different incident directions of interferences.Anti-jamming performance evaluation and jamming deployment optimization can obtain more accurate and efficient results by using the conclusions.

文摘When studying the harbor water tranquility, cases are often confronted as that the verification point is not located on the generation line or that the angle between the generation line and the isobath is so large that the differences of the wave climates along the generation line can not be ignored. We suggest that the wave generation method on multi-lines might also be introduced to the wave physical model as the replacement for the one-line generation method.

文摘If the upstream boundary conditions are prescribed based on the incident wave only, the time-dependent numerical models cannot effectively simulate the wave field when the physical or spurious reflected waves become significant. The calculated results show that the present approach is effective on damping the reflected waves towards the incident wave boundary.
文摘BACKGROUND Early identification of patients at risk of congestive heart failure(HF)may alter their poor prognosis. The aim was therefore to test whether simple electrocardiographic variables, the P-wave and PR-interval,could predict incident HF.METHODS The PIVUS(Prospective Investigation of the Vasculature in Uppsala Seniors)study(1016 individuals all aged 70 years,50%women)was used to identify predictors of HF.Subjects with prevalent HF,QRS duration≥130 ms,atrial tachyar-rhythmias,implanted pacemaker/defibrillator,second-and third-degree atrioventricular block or delta waves at baseline were excluded.Cox proportional hazard analysis was used to relate the PR interval,P-wave duration(Pdur)and amplitude(Pamp),measured in lead V1,to incident HF.Adjustment was performed for gender,RR-interval,beta-blocking agents, systolic blood pressure, body mass index and smoking.RESULTS Out of 836 subjects at risk,107 subjects were diagnosed with HF during a follow-up of 15 years. In the multivariate analysis, there was a strong U-shaped correlation between Pdur in lead V1 and incident HF(P=0.0001)which was significant for a Pdur<60 ms[HR=2.75;95%CI:1.87-4.06,at Pdur 40 ms]but not for prolonged Pdur. There was no significant relationship between incident HF and the PR-interval or the Pamp.A Pdur<60 ms improved discrimination by 3.7%when added to the tradi-tional risk factors including sex,RR-interval,beta-blocking agents, systolic blood pressure,BMI and smoking(P=0.048).CONCLUSIONS A short Pdur,an easily measured parameter on the ECG,may potentially be a useful marker of future HF,enabling its early detection and prevention, thus improving outcomes.

文摘This paper investigates the frequency-selective property of a planar layer consisting of period arrays both theoretically and experimentally for different polarizations at arbitrary incident angle. It is observed that the simulated result comes very close to the experimental result.
