Fuel station drive-offs,wherein the drivers simply drive off without paying,are a major issue in the UK(United Kingdom)due to rising fuel costs and financial hardships.The phenomenon has increased greatly over the las...Fuel station drive-offs,wherein the drivers simply drive off without paying,are a major issue in the UK(United Kingdom)due to rising fuel costs and financial hardships.The phenomenon has increased greatly over the last few years,with reports indicating a substantial increase in such events in the major cities.Traditional prevention measures such as Avutec and Driveoffalert rely primarily on expensive infrastructure and blacklisted databases.Such systems typically involve costly camera installation andmaintenance and are consequently out of the budget of small fuel stations.These conventional approaches also fall short regarding real-time recognition,particularly regarding first-time impostors using fictitious plates,which represent an increasingly significant proportion of such forgery.This research presents an AI(Artificial Intelligence)-driven detection system using the MOT(Ministry of Transport)History API(Application Programming Interface)to scan in real-time at gas stations to recognize and prevent such fraud.The system integrates various state-of-the-art technologies to offer a foolproof system.Using the latestYOLO(YouOnly Look Once)model to recognize number plates and EasyOCR(Optical Character Recognition)to recognize characters,the system correctly reads license plates in various environmental conditions like lighting,viewpoint,and weather conditions.This approach minimizes the utilization of expensive camera systems and employs cheaper ANPR(AutomaticNumber Plate Recognition)gear,availing existing installed surveillance cameras on filling stations.The system operates with a basic web-based application to notify operators of stolen vehicles in real-time,enabling them to react immediately.Real-world testing achieves 84%success with CCTV(Closed-Circuit Television)images,depicting its real-world applicability.The results indicate that the AI-driven solution offers a monumental leap compared to current practices,giving fuel stations a cost-effective and efficient means of reducing financial loss from drive-off incidents.展开更多

Multi-Object Tracking(MOT)represents a fundamental but computationally demanding task in computer vision,with particular challenges arising in occluded and densely populated environments.While contemporary tracking sy...Multi-Object Tracking(MOT)represents a fundamental but computationally demanding task in computer vision,with particular challenges arising in occluded and densely populated environments.While contemporary tracking systems have demonstrated considerable progress,persistent limitations—notably frequent occlusion-induced identity switches and tracking inaccuracies—continue to impede reliable real-world deployment.This work introduces an advanced tracking framework that enhances association robustness through a two-stage matching paradigm combining spatial and appearance features.Proposed framework employs:(1)a Height Modulated and Scale Adaptive Spatial Intersection-over-Union(HMSIoU)metric for improved spatial correspondence estimation across variable object scales and partial occlusions;(2)a feature extraction module generating discriminative appearance descriptors for identity maintenance;and(3)a recovery association mechanism for refining matches between unassociated tracks and detections.Comprehensive evaluation on standard MOT17 and MOT20 benchmarks demonstrates significant improvements in tracking consistency,with state-of-the-art performance across key metrics including HOTA(64),MOTA(80.7),IDF1(79.8),and IDs(1379).These results substantiate the efficacy of our Cue-Tracker framework in complex real-world scenarios characterized by occlusions and crowd interactions.展开更多
We experimentally investigate the effective working regions of a planar-integrated magneto-optical trap(MOT).By scanning a blocking point in the incident laser beam,we identify four effective working regions of the la...We experimentally investigate the effective working regions of a planar-integrated magneto-optical trap(MOT).By scanning a blocking point in the incident laser beam,we identify four effective working regions of the laser beam contributing to MOT:a central region corresponding to the downward incident beam and three regions associated with the upward diffracted beams.The latter three regions are the effective regions of the grating chip.It is demonstrated that only three3.5 mm radius grating regions can produce a MOT that is capable of trapping 105atoms with a temperature below 150μK,retaining over 60%of atoms compared to a complete grating chip.This finding suggests that more than 60%of the grating chip area can be saved for other on-chip components,such as metasurfaces and nanophotonic devices,without significantly compromising MOT performance,paving the way for more compact and versatile atom–photon interfaces.展开更多
We propose a method to characterize the features of a cold strontium cloud in a magneto-optical trap(MOT)through the photoionization of cold Sr atoms in a custom-designed reaction microscope.Sr atoms in the dark state...We propose a method to characterize the features of a cold strontium cloud in a magneto-optical trap(MOT)through the photoionization of cold Sr atoms in a custom-designed reaction microscope.Sr atoms in the dark state of 5s5p3P2 populated via the cascade transition 5s5p^(1)P_(1)→5s4d^(1)D_(2)→5s5p^(3)P_(2)accumulate a significant fraction,giving a long lifetime of 520 s.These atoms in the dark state are subsequently trapped by the gradient magnetic field of the MOT.By scanning the Sr+momentum distributions ionized with an 800 nm infrared femtosecond laser,we are able to outline the size of~0.55 mm in radius and the temperature of~0.40 mK for the dark-state atoms,which is significantly cooler than the MOT temperature of 3.3 mK trapped in the 461 nm.The size of MOT exhibits an oblate spheroidal distribution with a radius of approximately 0.35 mm and 0.55 mm,extracted with momenta of photoion and absorption imaging,respectively.The results using the photoion momenta are consistent with the expected results from absorption imaging,which confirms the method's reliability.The advantage of this method is the ability to simultaneously characterize the distribution information of atoms in different initial states within the cold atomic cloud.展开更多
