A simplified modeling has been developed to study the liquid metal MHD film state, which has been validated by the existing experimental results. Numerical results on how the inlet velocity(V), the chute width(W) and the inlet film thickness(d0) affect the MHD film flow state are obtained. MHD stability analysis results are also provided in this study. The results show that strong magnetic fields make the stable V decrease several times compared to the case with no magnetic field, especially small radial magnetic fields(Bn) will have a significant impact on the MHD film flow state. Based on the above numerical and MHD stability analysis results flow control methods are proposed for flat and curved MHD film flows. For curved film flow we firstly proposed a new multi-layers MHD film flow system with a solid metal mesh to get the stable MHD film flows along the curved bottom surface. Experiments on flat and curved MHD film flows are also carried out and some firstly observed results are achieved.展开更多

Two flow problems corresponding to the planar and axisymmetric stretching/shrinking sheet were considered. By means of similarity transformations, the obtained resultant nonlinear ordinary differential equations were solved numerically using a shooting method for dual solutions of velocity and temperature profiles. Some important physical features of the flow and heat transfer in terms of the fluid velocity, the temperature distribution, the skin friction coefficient and the local Nusselt number for various values of the controlling governing parameters like velocity slip parameter, critical shear rate, magnetic field, ratio of stretching/shrinking rate to external flow rate and Prandtl number were analyzed and discussed. An increase of the critical shear rate decreases the fluid velocity whereas the local Nusselt number increases. The comparison of the present numerical results with the existing literature in a limiting case is given and found to be in an excellent agreement.展开更多

The fluid is subjected to an external transverse magnetic field. The governing nonlinear equations of motion are transformed into a dimensionless form through yon Karman's similarity transformation. An algorithm based on a finite difference scheme is used to solve the reduced coupled ordinary differential equations under associated boundary conditions. The effects of the Reynolds number, the magnetic parameter, the micropolar parameter, and the Prandtl number on the flow velocity and temperature distributions are discussed. The results agree well with those of the previously published work for special cases. The investigation predicts that the heat transfer rate at the surfaces of the disks increases with the increases in the Reynolds number, the magnetic parameter, and the Prandtl number. The shear stresses decrease with the increase in the injection while increase with the increase in the applied magnetic field. The shear stress factor is lower for micropolar fluids than for Newtonian fluids, which may be beneficial in the flow and thermal control in the polymeric processing.展开更多

The momentum equation is formulated with multi-term fractional derivatives, and by means of viscous dissipation, the fractional derivative is considered in the energy equation. A finite difference scheme is established based on the Gl-algorithm, whose convergence is confirmed by the comparison with the analytical solution in an example. Meanwhile the numerical solutions of velocity, temperature and shear stress are obtained. The effects of involved parameters on velocity and temperature fields are presented graphically and analyzed in detail. Increasing the fractional derivative parameter a, the velocity and temperature have a decreasing trend, while the influences of fractional derivative parameter ,8 on the velocity and temperature behave conversely. Increasing the absolute value of the first order slip parameter and the second order slip parameter both cause a decrease of velocity. Furthermore, with the decreasing of the magnetic parameter, the shear stress decreases.展开更多

The velocity slip at the solid surface is taken into account in the boundary conditions. A novel analytical method named DTM- BF is proposed and used to get the approximate analytical solutions to the nonlinear governing equation along with the boundary conditions at infinity. All analytical results are compared with those obtained by a numerical method. The comparison shows good agreement, which validates the accuracy of the DTM-BF method. Moreover, the existence ranges of the dual solutions and the unique solution for various parameters are obtained. The effects of the velocity slip parameter, the unsteadiness parameter, the magnetic parameter, the suction/injection parameter, and the velocity ratio parameter on the skin friction, the unique velocity, and the dual velocity profiles are explored, respectively.展开更多

文摘This paper investigates the MHD flow and heat transfer of the incompressible generalized Burgers' fluid due to a periodic oscillating plate with the effects of the second order slip and periodic heating plate. Furthermore, with the decreasing of the magnetic parameter, the shear stress decreases.

文摘An emerging definition of the fractal-fractional operator has been used in this study for the modeling of Casson fluid flow. The magnetohydrodynamics flow of Casson fluid has cogent in a channel where the motion of the upper plate generates the flow while the lower plate is at a static position. The proposed model is non-dimensionalized using the Pi-Buckingham theorem to reduce the complexity in solving the model and computation time. The non-dimensional fractal-fractional model with the power-law kernel has been solved through the Laplace transform technique. The Mathcad software has been used for illustration of the influence of various parameters,i.e.,Hartman number, fractal, fractional, and Casson fluid parameters on the velocity of fluid flow.Through graphs and tables, the results have been implemented and it is shown that the boundary conditions are fully satisfied. The results reveal that the flow velocity is decreasing with the increasing values of the Hartman number and is increasing with the increasing values of the Casson fluid parameter. The findings of the fractal-fractional model have elucidated that the memory effect of the flow model has higher quality than the simple fractional and classical models.Furthermore,to show the validity of the obtained closed-form solutions, special cases have been obtained which are in agreement with the already published solutions.

文摘An unsteady magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) boundary layer flow over a shrinking permeable sheet embedded in a moving viscous electrically conducting fluid is investigated both analytically and numerically. The effects of the velocity slip parameter, the unsteadiness parameter, the magnetic parameter, the suction/injection parameter, and the velocity ratio parameter on the skin friction, the unique velocity, and the dual velocity profiles are explored, respectively.
