Stability of liquid metal film flow under gradient magnetic field is investigated. Three dimensional numerical simulations on magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) effect of free surface film flow were carried out, with emphasis on the film thickness variation and its surface stability. Three different MHD phenomena of film flow were observed in the experiment, namely, retardant, rivulet and flat film flow. From our experiment and numerical simulation it can be concluded that flat film flow is a good choice for plasma-facing components (PFCs) 展开更多

The present study reports on the growth of calcium phosphate coatings on Ti6Al4V substrate by electrodeposition under high magnetic field.The electrodeposition is conducted by potentiostatic method on horizontal electrode whose roughness was modified to reach a value of 3μm.The coatings are obtained from an electrolyte containing calcium nitrate as the Ca^(2+) source and ammonium phosphate as the P source with a Ca/P ratio equal to two.The LNCMI high field continuous magnet in a 170 mm bore with homogeneity of 600.10~6 in I cm^3 has been used.The magnetic field with a magnitude up to 12 T is applied perpendicularly to the electrode surface.The surface morphology and chemical composition of the obtained coatings were characterized by 3D digital microscope and scanning electron microscopy associated with X-ray microanalysis(SEM-EDX).The phase composition was analyzed by X-Ray diffraction.The presence of several crystalline phases comprising octacalcium phosphate and hydroxyapatite is obtained and magnetic field seems to change the relative importance of these phases.The coating morphology changes from belt shape crystallites to needle shape crystallites with high magnetic field superimposition without important modification of Ca/P ratio in the deposit.On the other hand formation of volcano-like structures due to the presence of hydrogen bubbles during deposition is considerably reduced in the presence of magnetic field. 展开更多

Cu films were electrodeposited under a magnetic field of 5 T on the Pt disc electrodes with diameters of 3 mm ~ 25 μm.Such magnetoelectrodeposited(MED) Cu films were employed as an electrode,and cyclic voltammograms were measured for the electrochemical reactions of an amino acid of alanine.Chiral behavior was observed as oxidation current difference between the enantiomers.Clear magnetoelectrochemical chirality was observed on the micro-disk electrode and on the kinetic-controlled electrode process of alanine.The chiral response was durable for more than 10 cycles of the consecutive voltammetric measurements of the enantiomers. 展开更多

Geometry sensitivity of magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) duct flow and some ab- normal phenomena deviating from the classical MHD laws were measured in an experimental investigation of the MHD effect of the flow channel inserter (FCI) duct flow. The results showed that the velocity distribution deviated from the M-type profile on the centre-plane of the cross section of the duct with small slots (in short "S-duct"). The electric potential difference in the duct wall was much lower than that given by the classical electromagnetic laws. The MHD pres- sure drop was much higher than that from the classical magneto-hydrodynamics theory. These results may help us find some new methods to reduce the MHD pressure drop, or explore other potential applications such as flow structure control. 展开更多
