BACKGROUND Some studies investigated the prognostic role of several blood biomarkers, including the neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio(NLR),platelet/lymphocyte ratio(PLR),lymphocyte/monocyte ratio(LMR)and Glasgow prognostic score(GPS),in osteosarcoma, but their results were inconsistent with each other.AIM To identify the prognostic value of NLR,PLR,LMR and GPS in osteosarcoma patients through reviewing relevant studies.METHODS The PubMed,EMBASE,Web of Science and CNKI databases were searched up to October 2,2021.The primary and second outcomes were overall survival(OS)and disease-free survival(DFS),respectively. The hazard ratios(HRs)with 95%confidence intervals(CIs)were combined to assess the association between these indicators and prognosis of osteosarcoma patients.RESULTS A total of 13 studies involving 2087 patients were eventually included. The pooled results demonstrated that higher NLR and GPS were significantly associated with poorer OS(HR=1.88,95%CI:1.38-2.55,P<0.001;HR=2.19,95%CI:1.64-2.94,P<0.001)and DFS(HR=1.67,95%CI:1.37-2.04,P<0.001;HR=2.50,95%CI:1.39-4.48,P<0.001).However,no significant relationship of PLR and LMR and OS(P=0.085;P=0.338)and DFS(P=0.396;P=0.124)was observed.CONCLUSION Higher NLR and GPS were related with worse prognosis and might serve as novel prognostic indicators for osteosarcoma patients. 展开更多

Interim Positron-Emission Tomography (int-PET) and the peripheral blood absolute lymphocyte/monocyte ratio at di- agnosis (ALC/AMC-DX) have been shown to be predictors for progression-free survival (PFS) and time to progression (TTP) in classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL). Therefore, we studied if the combination of ALC/AMC-DX and the (int-PET) can further stratified PFS and TTP in cHL patients. Patients were required to be diagnosed, treated, and followed with int-PET at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. From 2000 until 2008, 111 cHL patients qualified for the study. The median follow-up was 2.8 years (range: 0.3 - 10.4 years). Patients with a negative int-PET (N = 98) pre- sented with a higher ALC/AMC-DX (median of 2.32, range: 0.26 - 37.5) compared with patients with a positive int-PET (N = 13) (median of 0.9, range: 0.29 - 3.10), p 1.1. Group 1 experienced superior PFS and TTP in comparison with the other groups. In conclusion, the combination of ALC/AMC-DX and the int-PET provides a simple model to assess clinical outcomes in cHL. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Depression is a significant psychiatric disorder with particularly high prevalence among adolescents. This mental health condition can have severe consequences, including academic failure, social withdrawal, and suicidal behavior.Given the increasing rate of depression in this age group, understanding the underlying biological mechanisms is essential for early detection and intervention.Recent studies have suggested that immune markers play a role in the pathophysiology of depression, prompting further investigation of their potential association with depressive symptoms in adolescents.AIM To investigate the relationship between immune markers(monocytes, lymphocytes, and direct bilirubin)and the incidence and severity of depression among adolescents.METHODS This cross-sectional study recruited 145 adolescent patients with depression[male(M)/female(F)=38/107]from Jiangbin Hospital in Guangxi,Zhuang and 163 healthy controls(M/F=77/86)from routine health check-ups.Blood samples were collected after an overnight fast.Depression severity was measured using the Zung Self-Rating Depression Scale. The inclusion criteria were age 12-24 years, diagnosis of depressive disorder(ICD-10),and no recent antidepressant use.The exclusion criteria included psychiatric comorbidities and serious somatic diseases.Key statistical methods included group comparisons and correlation analyses.RESULTS There was a higher prevalence of females in the depression group(P<0.001).Significant age differences were observed between the groups(Z=9.43,P<0.001).The depression group had higher monocyte(Z=3.43,P<0.001)and lymphocyte(t=2.29,P<0.05)counts,and higher serum direct bilirubin levels(Z=4.72,P<0.001).Monocyte count varied significantly according to depression severity, with lower counts in the mild group(Z=-2.90,P<0.05).A negative correlation between age and lymphocyte counts was observed(ρ=-0.22,P<0.01).Logistic regression analysis showed that serum direct bilirubin levels significantly predicted depression.CONCLUSION The potential role of elevated levels of immune markers in the early detection of depression in adolescents has been highlighted. Therefore,it is necessary to explore further the relationships between these immune markers and depression. 展开更多

As the prevalence of obesity increases dramatically,obesity-associated cardiac dysfunction constitutes a considerable challenge to human health. This study aimed to identify more useful lipid/inflammatory markers to predict the risk of obesity-associated cardiac dysfunction.By retrospectively analyzing the clinical characteristics of 5648 cardiac disease patients,we found that both the plasma level of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDLC)and the blood monocyte count were significantly associated with impairment of the left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF).Univariate and multivariate regression analyses revealed that the monocyte to HDL-C ratio(MHR)was a more powerful predictor of the risk of LVEF decline than either HDL-C or monocyte alone.Mediation analysis further revealed a mediating effect of a high MHR on the decline in obesity-associated cardiac systolic function.Collectively, our results demonstrate a superior role of MHR in predicting the risk of an obesityassociated decline in cardiac systolic function among routine metabolic/inflammatory markers. 展开更多

Background:As a surrogate marker of systemic inflammation, the lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio(LMR) is an independent prognostic factor for various malignancies. This study investigated the prognostic significance of the pre-chemotherapy LMR in patients with previously untreated metastatic colorectal cancer(mCRC) receiving chemotherapy. Methods:The present study included newly diagnosed mCRC patients treated between January 2005 and December 2013 with FOLFOX chemotherapy, specifically oxaliplatin 180 mg/m^2 on day 1,with leucovorin 400 mg/m^2administered as a 2-hour infusion before the administration of 5-fluorouracil 400 mg/m^2 as an intravenous bolus injection, and 5-fluorouracil 2400 mg/m^2 as a 46-h infusion immediately after 5-fluorouracil bolus injection. The LMR was calculated as the absolute count of lymphocytes divided by the absolute count of monocytes.COX proportional hazards analysis was performed to evaluate the association of LMR with survival outcomes. Results:A total of 488 patients were included.Patients with high pre-chemotherapy LMR experienced significant improvements in progression-free survival(PFS,9.2 vs.7.6 months,P < 0.001) and overall survival(OS,19.4 vs.16.6 months,P < 0.001) compared with patients with low pre-chemotherapy LMR.Subsequent COX multivariate analysis showed that high pre-chemotherapy LMR(>3.11) was an independent favorable prognostic factor for PFS and OS.Additionally, patients whose LMR remained high(high-high subgroup),increased(low-high subgroup),or decreased(high-low subgroup) following chemotherapy showed better results in terms of PFS and OS than patients whose LMR remained low(low-low subgroup) after chemotherapy. Conclusions:For patients with previously untreated mCRC receiving FOLFOX chemotherapy,an elevated pre-chemotherapy LMR is an independent favorable prognostic factor for PFS and OS,and changes in the LMR before and after chemotherapy seem to predict the benefit of chemotherapy. 展开更多

AIM:To measure the prognostic significance of absolute monocyte count/absolute lymphocyte count prognostic score(AMLPS) in patients with gastric cancer.METHODS:We retrospectively examined the combination of absolute monocyte count(AMC) and absolute lymphocyte count(ALC) as prognostic variables in a cohort of 299 gastric cancer patients who underwent surgical resection between 2006 and 2013 and were followed at a single institution. Both AMC and ALC were dichotomized into two groups using cut-off points determined by receiving operator characteristic curve analysis. An AMLPS was generated, which stratified patients into three risk groups:low risk(both low AMC and high ALC),intermediate risk(either high AMC or low ALC),and high risk(both high AMC and low ALC).The primary objective of the study was to validate the impact of AMLPS on both disease-free survival(DFS) and overall survival(OS),and the second objective was to assess the AMLPS as an independent prognostic factor for survival in comparison with known prognostic factors.RESULTS:Using data from the entire cohort, the most discriminative cut-off values of AMC and ALC selected on the receiver operating characteristic curve were 672.4/μL and 1734/μL for DFS and OS.AMLPS risk groups included 158(52.8%) patients in the lowrisk,128(42.8%) in the intermediate-risk,and 13(4.3%) in the high-risk group. With a median followup of 37.2 mo(range:1.7-91.4 mo),five-year DFS rates in the low-,intermediate-,and high-risk groups were 83.4%,78.7%,and 19.8%,respectively.And fiveyear OS rates in the low-,intermediate-,and high-risk groups were 89.3%,81.1%,and 14.4%,respectively.On multivariate analysis performed with patient- and tumor-related factors,we identified AMLPS,age, and pathologic tumor-node-metastasis stage as the most valuable prognostic factors impacting DFS and OS.CONCLUSION:AMLPS identified patients with a poor DFS and OS,and it was independent of age, pathologic stage, and various inflammatory markers. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Colorectal cancer is the third most common malignancy worldwide. Therefore,it is critically important to identify new useful markers that can be easily obtained in routine practice.Inflammation is a crucial issue in the pathogenesis and development of cancer.AIM To evaluate the prognostic value of absolute monocyte count, monocyte to lymphocyte ratio(MLR),the combination of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR-PLR),and combined platelet and neutrophilto-lymphocyte ratio(PLT-NLR)in peripheral blood samples of patients with colorectal cancer undergoing surgery.METHODS We conducted a retrospective study of 160 patients with colorectal cancer who underwent surgery, and 42 healthy controls. The status of absolute monocyte count,MLR,NLR-PLR and PLT-NLR was calculated on the basis of blood samples obtained before and after surgery.Haematologic factors were examined in correlation with the type of tumour growth, tumour size, histological type, percentage of mucinous component, grade of malignancy,Tumour-Node-Metastasis stage, venous, lymphatic and perineural invasion of cancer cells, status of lymph node invasion and the presence of cancer cell deposits. The Kaplan-Meier method and the long-rank test were used to compare survival curves. To determine independent prognostic factors, univariate and multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression models were applied.RESULTS The PLT-NLR status was correlated with tumour size and the presence of perineural invasion(P=0.015;P=-0.174,P=0.037).Moreover,high NLR-PLR and PLR-NLR ratios in the blood samples obtained after surgery were positively associated with histological type of cancer and percentage of the mucinous component(NLR-PLR:P=0.002;P=0.009;PLR-NLR status:P=0.002;P=0.007).The analysis of 5-year disease-free survival showed that the MLR of whole blood obtained after surgery[HR=2.903,95%CI:(1.368-6.158),P=0.005]and the status of lymph node metastasis[HR=0.813,95%CI:(0.653-1.013),P=0.050]were independent prognostic factors in colorectal cancer patients.CONCLUSION The postoperative MLR in whole blood samples can be used as an independent prognostic factor in patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer. 展开更多

AIM: To investigate the prognostic value of preoperative lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio(LMR) in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) undergoing curative hepatectomy.METHODS: Clinicopathological data of 210 hepatitis B virus(HBV)-associated HCC patients who were treated by radical hepatic resection between 2003 and 2010 were retrospectively analyzed. None of the patients received any preoperative anticancer therapyor intraoperative radiofrequency ablation. The diagnosis was confirmed by pathological examination after surgery. Absolute peripheral blood lymphocyte and monocyte counts were derived from serum complete blood cell count before surgery, and LMR was calculated by dividing lymphocyte count by monocyte count. The best cutoff was determined by receiver operating characteristics(ROC) curve analysis. Correlations between LMR levels and clinicopathological features were assessed using the χ2 test. Survival outcomes were estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method and compared by the log-rank test. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to evaluate the prognostic impact of LMR and other clinicopathological factors on overall survival(OS) and recurrence-free survival(RFS),using the Cox proportional hazards model.RESULTS: The optimal cutoff value of LMR for survival analysis was 3.23,which resulted in the most appropriate sensitivity of 55.3% and specificity of 74.7%,with the area under the curve(AUC) of 0.66(95%CI: 0.593-0.725). All patients were dichotomized into either a low(≤ 3.23) LMR group(n = 66) or a high(> 3.23) LMR group(n = 144). A low preoperative LMR level was significantly correlated with the presence of cirrhosis, elevated levels of total bilirubin and larger tumor size. Patients with a low LMR level had significantly reduced 5-year OS(61.9% vs 83.2%,P < 0.001) and RFS(27.8% vs 47.6%,P = 0.009) compared to those with a high LMR level. Multivariate analyses indicated that a lower LMR level was a significantly independent predictor of inferior OS(P = 0.003) and RFS(P = 0.006). Subgroup analysis indicated that survival outcome was significantly more favorable in cirrhotic patients with LMR > 3.23. However, there were no differences between low and high LMR groups for OS and RFS in non-cirrhotic patients.CONCLUSION: Preoperative LMR was demonstrated for the first time to serve as an independent prognostic factor in HBV-associated HCC patients after curative resection. Prospective studies with larger cohorts for validation are warranted. 展开更多

BACKGROUND In malignant tumors, inflammation plays a vital role in the development, invasion, and metastasis of cancer cells.Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(DLBCL),the most common malignant proliferative disease of the lymphatic system,is commonly associated with inflammation. The international prognostic index(IPI),which includes age, lactate dehydrogenase(LDH),number of extranodal lesions,Ann Arbor score, and Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group(ECOG)score, can evaluate the prognosis of DLBCL.However, its use in accurately identifying highrisk patients and guiding treatment is poor. Therefore,it is important to find novel immune markers in predicting the prognosis of DLBCL patients.AIM To determine the association between the systemic immune inflammation index(SII),ratio of lymphocytes to monocytes(LMR),ratio of LMR to LDH(LMR/LDH),and prognosis of patients with DLBCL.METHODS A total of 68 patients diagnosed with DLBCL,treated in our hospital between January 2016 and January 2020,were included.χ2 test,Pearson’s R correlation,Kaplan Meier curves, and Cox proportional risk regression analysis were used. The differences in the SII,LMR,and LMR/LDH among patients with different clinicopathological features were analyzed. The differences in progression-free survival time among patients with different SII,LMR,and LMR/LDH expressions and influencing factors affecting the prognosis of DLBCL patients, were also analyzed.RESULTS The LMR and LMR/LDH in patients with Ann Arbor stage III–IV,ECOG score≥2,and SII,IPI score 2–5 were significantly higher than those of patients with Ann Arbor stage I-II and ECOG score<2(P<0.05).Patients with high SII,LMR,and LMR/LDH had progression-free survival times of 34 mo(95%CI:32.52–38.50),35 mo(95%CI:33.42–36.58)and 35 mo(95%CI:33.49–36.51),respectively,which were significantly lower than those with low SII,LMR,and LMR/LDH(P<0.05);the SII,LMR,and LMR/LDH were positively correlated(P<0.05).Cox proportional risk regression analysis showed that the SII,LMR,and LMR/LDH were influencing factors for the prognosis of DLBCL patients(hazard ratio=1.143,1.665,and 1.704,respectively;P<0.05).CONCLUSION The SII,LMR,and LMR/LDH are related to the clinicopathological features of DLCBL,and they also influence the prognosis of patients with the disease. 展开更多

Introduction:Patients with metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC)have variable survival outcomes. We have previously shown that an elevated peripheral blood lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio(LMR)is associated with an increased metastatic risk in patients with primary NPC.The present study aimed to investigate the prognostic value of pretreatment LMR in a large cohort of metastatic NPC patients. Methods:Clinical data of 672 patients with metastatic NPC diagnosed between January 2003 and December2009 were analyzed. The peripheral lymphocyte and monocyte counts were retrieved, and LMR was calculated.Receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve analysis and univariate and multivariate COX proportional hazards analyses were performed to evaluate the association of LMR with overall survival(OS).Results:Univariate analysis revealed that an elevated absolute lymphocyte count(≥1.390×109/L)and LMR(≥2.475)as well as a decreased monocyte count(<0.665×109/L)were significantly associated with prolonged OS.Multivariate Cox proportional hazard analysis showed that LMR(hazard ratio[HR]=0.50,95%confidence interval[CI]=0.41–0.60,P<0.001),absolute lymphocyte count(HR=0.77,95%CI=0.64–0.93,P=0.007),and monocyte count(HR=1.98,95%CI=1.63–2.41,P<0.001)were independent prognostic factors.By stratification analyses, only LMR remained a significant predictor of prognosis. Conclusion:We identified pretreatment LMR as an independent prognostic factor for patients with metastatic NPC.Independent validation of our findings is needed. 展开更多

Day 100 prognostic factors post-autologous peripheral blood hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (APBHSCT) to predict clinical outcomes in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) patients have not been studied. Thus, we retrospectively examined if day 100 absolute monocyte/lymphocyte prognostic score (AMLPS-100) affects clinical outcomes by landmark analysis from day 100 post-APBHSCT in DLBCL. Only DLBCL patients in complete remission at day 100 post-APBHSCT were evaluated. From 2000 to 2007, 134 consecutive DLBCL patients are qualified for the study. Patients with a day 100 absolute monocyte count (AMC-100) ≥ 630 cells/μL and day 100 absolute lymphocyte count (ALC-100) ≤ 1000 cells/μL experienced inferior overall survival (OS) and progression free survival (PFS). On multivariate analysis, the AMC-100 and ALC-100 remained independent predictors of OS and PFS. Combining both values into the AMLPS-100, the 5-year OS rates for low, intermediate, and high AMLPS-100 risk groups were 94% (95% CI, 83.0% - 98.1%), 70% (95% CI, 58.6% - 80.1%), and 13% (95% CI, 3.4% - 40.5%), respectively;and the 5-year PFS rates were 87% (95% CI, 74.0% - 94.1%), 68% (95% CI, 56.0% - 77.8%), and 13% (95% CI, 3.4% - 40.5%), respectively. The AMLPS-100 is a simple biomarker score that can stratify clinical outcomes from day 100 post-APBHSCT in DLBCL patients. 展开更多

Objective This study aimed to explore the combined prognostic value of pretreatment neutrophil-tolymphocyte ratio(NLR), lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio(LMR), and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio(PLR) in newly diagnosed IE/IIE extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma(ENKTL) treated with a P-Gemox regimen combined with radiotherapy or radiotherapy alone. Methods A total of 132 patients from 2009 to 2017 at the Sichuan Cancer Hospital were enrolled in the study. The cutoff values of NLR, LMR, and PLR using overall survival(OS) rate as an endpoint were obtained by the receiver operating curve. Results The cutoff value of NLR was 3.5. Patients with high NLR had significantly shorter progressionfree survival(PFS)(P < 0.001) and OS(P < 0.001) than those with low NLR. Similarly, the cutoff value of LMR was 3.0. The high LMR group had significantly longer PFS(P=0.001) and OS(P < 0.001) than the low LMR group. Similarly, the cutoff value of PLR was 191.7. The high PLR group was significantly associated with poor PFS(P < 0.001) and OS(P < 0.001) than the low PLR group. Furthermore, combining NLR, LMR, and PLR to build a new model to stratify patients into low-, intermediate-, intermediate-high-, and high-risk groups, there were also significant differences in PFS(P < 0.001) and OS(P < 0.001). The univariate analysis showed that presenting B symptoms, stage IIE, local tumor invasion, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group score ≥ 2, elevated lactate dehydrogenase level, elevated NLR, decreased LMR, and elevated PLR were significantly associated with poor survival. The multivariate analysis demonstrated that PLR was an independent prognostic factor for both PFS(hazard ratio [HR]= 2.073, 95% confidence interval [CI]= 1.080–3.981, P = 0.028) and OS(HR = 2.127, 95% CI = 1.102–4.107, P = 0.025).Conclusion Elevated pretreatment PLR was a novel simple predictor of poor survival in patients with stage IE/IIE ENKTL. Combining NLR, LMR, and PLR could provide additional stratification. 展开更多

AIM: To evaluate the associations between development of retinopathy of prematurity(ROP) and serum lymphocyteto-monocyte ratio(LMR), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR), and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio(PLR). METHODS: A retrospective cohort study was performed, involving infants who were screened for ROP from January 2015 to December 2015. Preterm newborns of ≤32 gestational weeks with ROP were enrolled as the observation group, and non-ROP infants were enrolled as the control group, whose complete blood cell were measured within the first 24 h of life. The levels of NLR, LMR and PLR were determined in all groups. The data obtained were analyzed using univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis.RESULTS: In this study, 40 cases of ROP were enrolled and 40 cases of non-ROP as controls. The LMR levels were significantly higher(P〈0.001) in ROP group(3.96±1.16) compared to non-ROP group(2.85±0.79). The NLR levels were significantly lower(P=0.035) in ROP group {median [interquartile range(IQR)], 0.88(0.67-1.46)} compared to non-ROP group [median(IQR), 1.20(0.85-1.89)]. The median PLR values were 61.99(IQR, 50.23-75.98) in ROP group and 69.24(IQR, 55.52-88.12) in non-ROP group(P=0.104). Logistic regression analysis suggested that LMR was an independent risk factor for ROP(OR: 0.275; 95% CI: 0.134-0.564; P=0.001). CONCLUSION: The findings demonstrate that higher LMR is independently and significantly associated with the development of ROP, and the LMR may be invoked as a predictive tool for identifying risk for ROP. 展开更多

Background and objective: During routine follow up, there is no specific predictor to ascertain relapse after standard first line chemotherapy in diffuse large cell lymphoma. Therefore, this study was designed to assess the prognostic significance of the ratio between absolute lymphocyte and monocyte counts (LMR) in the peripheral blood to verify relapse in diffuse large B cell lymphoma. Patients and methods: A total of 139 patients with newly diagnosed diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) were evaluated and treated with CHOP or R-CHOP between the years 2009 and 2016. Three months following completion of first line therapy, Lymphocyte/monocyte ratio (LMR) was calculated from the routine automated complete blood cell count (CBC) attained a plateau after the bone marrow recovery after first line chemotherapy. The absolute lymphocyte count/absolute monocyte count ratio (LMR) was calculated by dividing the ALC by the AMC. Results: ROC curve analysis of 139 patients established 2.8 as cutoff point of LMR for relapse with AUC of 0.97 (95% CI 0.93 - 0.99, P ≤ 0.001). Cox regression analysis was performed to identify factors predicting relapse. In univariate regression analysis, ALC (95% CI 0.003 - 0.03, p ≤ 0.001), AMC (95% CI 15.4 - 128.8, p ≤ 0.001), LMR (95% CI 0.001 - 0.01, p ≤ 0.001), and LDH (95% CI 0.1 - 0.5, p ≤ 0.001) following completion of therapy are significant factors for relapse. Other significant factors for relapse are Ann Arbor stage (95% CI 1.1 - 6.9, P = 0.03), extranodal sites (95% CI 1.2 - 6.1, P = 0.01), age (95% CI 1.3 - 6.5, P = 0.01) and treatment of CHOP protocol (95% CI 0.05 - 0.6, P = 0.007). In a multivariate analysis LMR following completion of therapy was predictive for relapse (95% CI 0.001 - 0.2, P = 0.005). ALC was also significant in multivariate analysis (95% CI 0.01 - 0.8, P = 0.03). LDH following completion of therapy (95% CI 0.2 - 14.9, P = 0.5), AMC following completion of therapy (95% CI 0.3 - 43.1, P = 0.3), age (95% CI 0.9 - 205.4, P = 0.06), extra-nodal sites (95% CI 0.04 - 9.8, P = 0.8), Ann Arbor stage (95% CI 0.3 - 28.7, P = 0.3), and Treatment of CHOP protocol (95% CI 0.01 - 2.4, P = 0.2) were not statistically significant. Conclusion: This study observed that LMR assessed after first line chemotherapy during routine follow up is an independent predictor of relapse and clinical outcome in DLBCL patients. LMR at follow up can be used a simple inexpensive biomarker to alert clinicians for relapse during follow up after standard first line chemotherapy in DLBCL patients. 展开更多

The proliferative response of T-cells to autolo-gous non-T-cells is referred to as the autologous mixed lymphocyte reaction (AMLR). Recent studies have suggested that AMLR represents a mechanism of immune regulation in vivo. We investigated AMLR in patients with acute- and chronic myeloid leukemia (AML and CML). AMLR was found to be significantly depressed (P<0.001) in AML patients (n=17, cpm=532±95) and CML patients (n=13, cpm=688±99) when compared with that of their healthy HLA-identical siblings serving as controls (n=17, cpm=4152±619 and n=13 cpm=4086±421, respectively). In order to understand the cellular basis of the defective AMLR in patients with AML end CML, we performed mitogen-treated T-cell cultures analysis of T-cell subsets and HLA-Ⅱ antigen detection on monocytes. The results indicated that the defect of AMLR in patients resided at the stimulator monocyte level rather than at the responder T-cell level. Enumeration of monocytes reactive with monoclonal antibody Tu22, which recognizes determinants of HLA-DQ, demonstrated that ML patients had a significantly decreased (P<0.091) number of circulating Tu22+ monocytes when compared with normal controls. These studies suggest that a deficiency of HLA-DQ+ monocytes contributes to the depression of AMLR in ML and possibly underlies the abnormalities of immune response present in this disease. 展开更多

Objective: To investigate the value of peripheral blood helper T cell 17 cell level and monocyte/lymphocyte ratio to predict the prognosis of colorectal cancer patients. Methods: 74 colorectal cancer patients who attended Hospital 960 from January 2021 to January 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. Clinical data of the patients were collected, including gender, age, and histologic type. Immunohistochemical indexes such as Th17 cell level and monocyte/ lymphocyte ratio in the peripheral blood of patients were also collected. The prognosis of patients after treatment, as well as peripheral blood Th17 and MLR levels, were observed and analyzed. Results: After follow-up after treatment, in the final 74 patients, the prognosis was good in 32 patients, accounting for 43.24%, and the prognosis was bad in 42 patients, accounting for 56.76%. There were no significant differences between the average age and tumor diameters of the good prognosis and poor prognosis groups (P > 0.05). However, the TNM staging, intervention taken, differentiation degree, presence of distant metastasis, presence of lymph node metastasis, Th17 level, and MLR level are significantly different between the two groups (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Peripheral blood Th17 and MLR have predictive value for the prognosis of colorectal cancer patients, and high levels of peripheral blood Th17 and MLR imply poor prognosis. The detection of peripheral blood Th17 and MLR levels is simple and convenient and can be used as indicators to provide a reference for the prognostic assessment of colorectal cancer patients. 展开更多
