Based on the study of two Early Pleistocene human skulls found in Yunxian County,Hubei Province,China,Ji et al.(2024)suggested that Homo orientalis was the common ancestor of the sapiens lineage and the longi lineage,and proposed that both the two lineages originated from East Asia.We further proposed that Genus Homo should be divided into two subgenera:Subgenus Homo and Subgenus Parahomo.All members of the sapiens lineage would be assigned to Subgenus Homo,and all members of the longi lineage would be grouped into Subgenus Parahomo.Homo(Parahomo)heidelbergensis and Homo(Parahomo)neanderthalensis also were the members of the longi lineage,an evolutionary branch spreaded from East Asia to Africa and Europe more than 600,000 years ago.This paper mainly makes an introduction to the speciation,classification and phylogeny of the longi lineage.The longi lineage and the sapiens lineage are″sister group″relationship,but the longi lineage is an extinct lineage,having nothing to do with our modern people. 展开更多

In 2024,Ji Qiang et al.established a new species,namely,Homo orientalis,based on the cranium(EV9002)unearthed from the Xuetangliangzi site of Yunxian County,Hubei Province,China,and characterized by developing no sagittal ridge along the cranial midline and 31-29 teeth orally,which was considered as the last common ancestor of the sapiens lineage and the longi lineage.In 2025,Ji Qiang et al.restudy the fossil human mandible(PA102)unearthed in the Chenjiawozi site of Lantian County,Shaanxi Province,China,which was marked by developing 14 teeth and a receding chin and named as Homo(Parahomo)lantianensis.This paper deals with the Pleistocene human cranium and some remains of ancient human(PA105,1-6)found from Gongwangling site of Lantian County,Shaanxi Province,which are characterized by developing slightly bent brow ridge,more than 14 teeth on the maxilla(the right maxilla with the third molar)and no sagittal ridge along the cranial midline and considered to be Homo orientalis herein.The finding of Homo orientalis in Shaanxi Province clearly shows that the Pleistocene hominins found in Xi′an City,Weinan City and Shiyan City belong to the same population,and those areas are the origin places of the sapiens lineage and the longi lineage. 展开更多

A Longi LGS 500 wet high intensity magnetic separator(WHIMS) was used to concentrate a fine, low grade South African hematite ore. The ore was prepared into different size fractions and was subjected to changes in pulp density, magnetic field intensity and pulsation frequency which followed a 33 full factorial matrix. The concentrate mass yield and Fe grade were selected as the dependent responses to the changes. The analysis of variance(ANOVA) shows that the variables investigated are significant to the material's response to magnetic separation. This significance was in the order of magnetic field intensity followed by pulsation frequency and then pulp density. It was also noted that a single stage magnetic separation has a potential to upgrade a feed( 75 lm and 40% Fe) to a 55% Fe grade, as the pulsation frequency increases. In addition, the model predictions and actual data were in good agreement, reporting regression coefficients within acceptable ranges. 展开更多
