Visible and infrared(RGB-IR)fusion object detection plays an important role in security,disaster relief,etc.In recent years,deep-learning-based RGB-IR fusion detection methods have been developing rapidly,but still struggle to deal with the complex and changing scenarios captured by drones,mainly due to two reasons:(A)RGB-IR fusion detectors are susceptible to inferior inputs that degrade performance and stability.(B)RGB-IR fusion detectors are susceptible to redundant features that reduce accuracy and efficiency.In this paper,an innovative RGB-IR fusion detection framework based on global-local feature optimization,named GLFDet,is proposed to improve the detection performance and efficiency of drone-captured objects.The key components of GLFDet include a Global Feature Optimization(GFO)module,a Local Feature Optimization(LFO)module and a Channel Separation Fusion(CSF)module.Specifically,GFO calculates the information content of the input image from the frequency domain and optimizes the features holistically.Then,LFO dynamically selects high-value features and filters out low-value features before fusion,which significantly improves the efficiency of fusion.Finally,CSF fuses the RGB and IR features across the corresponding channels,which avoids the rearrangement of the channel relationships and enhances the model stability.Extensive experimental results show that the proposed method achieves the best performance on three popular RGB-IR datasets Drone Vehicle,VEDAI,and LLVIP.In addition,GLFDet is more lightweight than other comparable models,making it more appealing to edge devices such as drones.The code is available at https://github.com/lao chen330/GLFDet. 展开更多

Background and Objectives:The perception of sound in the vertical plane supports spatial hearing by enabling listeners to detect sources located above and below.Sounds originating from both the front and back elevations along the mid-sagittal plane further contribute to a three-dimensional auditory experience.This study aimed to characterize the variability in vertical sound localization abilities among normal-hearing(NH)individuals using spatialized audio.Materials and Methods:Fifty-one NH participants(aged 18 to 35 years)completed three vertical localization tasks under headphones as part of a single-group,within-subject experimental study.These tasks included two-plane identification:(1)top-down localization,(2)front-back localization,and one discrimination task in the front plane.Hierarchical Cluster Analysis(HCA)was employed to identify distinct patterns in spatial localization profiles specific to the vertical-median plane.Fisher's Discriminant Function Analysis(FDA)was used to validate the accuracy of HCA and estimate classification error.Results:HCA revealed three distinct listener clusters:(1)cluster 1 with good performance across all three tasks,(2)cluster 2 with selective impairment in top-bottom identification,and(3)cluster 3 with selective deficits in front-back identification.FDA validated group membership of the clusters identified by the HCA,with a prediction accuracy of 98%.Conclusions:Individuals with clinically NH exhibited three distinct vertical localization profiles:uniform performers,those impaired in top-bottom identification,and those impaired in front-back identification.These profiles may be linked to the interplay between acoustic and non-acoustic perceptual factors. 展开更多

Enhanced photoresponse in WSe_(2)/MoS_(2) heterobilayers optoelectronic device via programmable local nanostrain engineering

The application potential of tuning two-dimensional materials(2DMs)characteristics through strain engineering for wearable and flexible devices has been widely recognized.However,the challenges lie in achieving accurate deterministic positioning,spatial modulation,controllable magnitude,and permanent nanostrains.Herein,motivated by the skin swelling caused by mosquito bites,a technique utilizing the heated nanotip in atomic force microscopy for thermomechanical nanoindentation is demonstrated.This method enables precise positioning of localized nanostrain and regulation of bandgap in tungsten diselenide(WSe_(2))/molybdenum disulfide(MoS_(2))heterobilayer transferred onto a flexible polymethyl methacrylate film.The magnitude of strain in the WSe_(2)/MoS_(2) heterobilayer can be controlled by adjusting the parameters of nanoindentation,leading to a spatially modulated average strain of up to 2.5%on the ring-shaped expansion structure(RES).The local bandgap of the WSe_(2)/MoS_(2) heterobilayer is spatially regulated through three distinct regions.In particular,the RES exhibits the largest extent of bandgap modulation,accompanied by a significant change of~12 meV.The nanostrain significantly enhances the photoresponse speed of the photodetector device.For instance,under illumination from a 405 nm wavelength-laser,the rise time and fall time are reduced by 75%and 87.52%,respectively,compared to the device without strain.Similarly,under illumination from a 532 nm wavelength-laser,the rise time and fall time are reduced by 66.67%and 80.60%,respectively.These findings demonstrate that the proposed method serves as a versatile way for improving the photoresponse of optoelectronic devices based on 2DMs. 展开更多

This paper proposes a tamper detection technique for semi-fragile watermarking using Quantizationbased Discrete Cosine Transform(DCT)for tamper localization.In this study,the proposed embedding strategy is investigated by experimental tests over the diagonal order of the DCT coefficients.The cover image is divided into non-overlapping blocks of size 8×8 pixels.The DCT is applied to each block,and the coefficients are arranged using a zig-zag pattern within the block.In this study,the low-frequency coefficients are selected to examine the impact of the imperceptibility score and tamper detection accuracy.High accuracy of tamper detection can be achieved by checking the surrounding blocks to determine whether the corresponding block has been tampered with.The proposed tamper detection is tested under various malicious,incidental,and hybrid attacks(both incidental and malicious attacks).The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed technique achieves a Peak-Signal-to-Noise Ratio(PSNR)value of 41.2318 dB,an average Structural Similarity Index Measure(SSIM)value of 0.9768.The proposed scheme is also evaluated against malicious attacks such as copy-move,object deletion,object manipulation,and collage attacks.The proposed scheme can detect the malicious attack localization under various tampering rates.In addition,the proposed scheme can still detect tampered pixels under a hybrid attack,such as a combination ofmalicious and incidental attacks,with an average accuracy of 96.44%. 展开更多

In this paper,a theoretical model is established for locally resonant plates with general resonators,and the corresponding governing equation is derived.The model provides a mathematical demonstration of the locally resonant effect,which contains two parts:the first part is induced by translation coupling,and the second part is induced by rotation coupling.The second part cannot be reflected by most existing theoretical models.The analytical solutions of the dynamic response are compared with the direct numerical simulation(DNS)results for two locally resonant plates with different resonator types,thereby validating the general applicability of the present model.The rotation coupling effect leads to the frequency-dependent effective rotational inertia density and anisotropic dispersion relation of the locally resonant plate,as well as the enhancement of the structural vibration suppression ability. 展开更多

The acquisition of position information of legitimate users and jammers plays an important role in the emerging non-geostationary synchronous orbit(NGSO)satellite communications.In this paper,we study the multi-signal localization problem in an uplink NGSO satellite communication system.We propose an onboard localization scheme based on multiple observations from the satellite,together with the geometric constraints of the satellite postions,the signal positions,the attitude of the satellite,and the angle-of-arrival(AoAs)of the signals.We develop a massage-passing algorithm,termed the Bayesian blind multi-signal localization(BMSL),to jointly estimate the AoAs and the signal positions.The Cramér-Rao lower bound(CRLB)is derived to characterize the fundamental performance limit of the considered localization problem.Simulation results show that the proposed BMSL algorithm can perform close to the derived CRLB and significantly outperforms its counterpart algorithms. 展开更多

The stator of the maglev track plays a crucial role in the operation of the maglev system.Currently,the efficiency of maglev track inspection is limited by several factors,including the large span of elevated structures,manual visual inspection,short inspection window times,and limited GPS positioning accuracy.To address these issues,this paper proposes a deep learning-based method for detecting and locating stator surface damage.This study establishes a maglev track stator surface image dataset,trains different object detection models,and compares their performance.Ultimately,YOLO and ByteTrack object tracking algorithms were chosen as the basic framework and enhanced to achieve automatic identification of high-speed maglev track stator surface damage images and track and count stator surface localization feature images.By matching the identified damaged images with their corresponding stator segment and beam segment sequence numbers,the location of the damage is pinpointed to the corresponding stator segment,enabling rapid and accurate identification and localization of complex damage to the maglev track stator surface. 展开更多

A Micromechanics-Based Softening Hyperelastic Model for Granular Materials:Multiscale Insights into Strain Localization and Softening

Granular materials exhibit complex macroscopic mechanical behaviors closely related to their microscalemicrostructural features.Traditional macroscopic phenomenological elasto-plastic models,however,usually have complex formulations and lack explicit relations to these microstructural features.To avoid these limitations,this study proposes a micromechanics-based softening hyperelastic model for granular materials,integrating softening hyperelasticity withmicrostructural insights to capture strain softening,critical state,and strain localization behaviors.The model has two key advantages:(1)a clear conceptualization,straightforward formulation,and ease of numerical implementation(via Abaqus UMAT subroutine in this study);(2)explicit incorporation of micro-scale features(e.g.,contact stiffness,particle size,porosity)to reveal their influences on macroscopic responses.An isotropic directional distribution density of contacts and three specific microstructures are considered,and their softening hyperelastic constitutive modulus tensors are explicitly derived.By introducing a softening factor and critical failure energy density,the model can describe geomaterial behaviors,simulating residual strength,X-shaped shear bands,and strain localization evolution.Numerical validations in comparison with themacro-scale hyperelastic model,Abaqus Drucker-Prager model,and the experiment confirm its accuracy.Parametric studies reveal critical dependencies:a normal to tangential contact stiffness ratio of 2-8(depending on stiffness magnitude),an internal length of 2-4 mm to ensure shear band formation,and a critical failure energy density(≤10 kJ/m^(3))to trigger strain softening and localization.Influences of the specific microstructures on strain localization and softening are investigated.The model also shows mesh independence due to the introduction of an internal length.The model’s applicability is further demonstrated by slope stability analysis,capturing slip surface evolution,and load-displacement characteristics.This study develops a robust microstructure-aware hyperelastic framework to describe the mechanical behaviors of granular materials,providing multiscale insights for geotechnical engineering applications. 展开更多

A multi-stage stress relaxation test was performed on a granodiorite sample to understand the deformation process prior to the macroscopic failure of brittle rocks,as well as the transient response during stress relaxation.Distributed optical fiber sensing was used to measure strains across the sample surface by helically wrapping the single-mode fiber around the cylindrical sample.Close agreement was observed between the circumferential strains obtained from the optical fibers and the extensometer.The reconstructed full-field strain contours show strain heterogeneity from the crack closure phase,and the strains in the later deformation phase are dominantly localized within the former high-strain zone.The Gini coefficient was used to quantify the degree of strain localization and shows an initial increase during the crack closure phase,a decrease during the linear elastic phase,and a subsequent increase during the post-yielding phase.This behavior corresponds to a process of initial localization from an imperfect boundary condition,homogenization,and eventual relocalization prior to the macroscopic failure of the sample.The transient strain rate decay during the stress relaxation phase was quantified using the p-value in the“Omori-like"power law function.A higher initial stress at the onset of relaxation results in a lower p-value,indicating a slower strain rate decay.As the sample approaches macroscopic failure,the lowest p-value shifts from the most damaged zone to adjacent areas,suggesting stress redistribution or crack propagation in deformed crystalline rocks under stress relaxation conditions. 展开更多

The multi-pass intermittent local loading process,which features a more flexible processing path,can further enhance the second material distribution during local loading,improve the formability of components,and reduce forming loads.However,the absence of compatible forming equipment makes it difficult to control the constraint in the unloaded zones during the forming process.This difficulty complicates coordination and control of deformation,particularly for asymmetric rib-web components.Additionally,the current implementation involves multi-fire heating,a long process flow,and high energy consumption,which limits the popularization and application of the local loading process.In this study,a new multi-pass local loading hydraulic forming apparatus that can quickly and reliably switch between heavy-load deformation and low-load constraint for different local loading sub-dies was developed.A 10-tonne laboratory prototype was developed,and the forming characteristics during the forming process as well as the response characteristics of the hydraulic system during the multi-pass intermittent local loading of rib-web component were investigated using numerical simulations and physical experiments.Results indicated that,compared to a whole loading process with the same initial geometry of billet,the total forming load(i.e.,the sum of loaded and restrained loads)is reduced by more than 40%with the local loading process,and by nearly 50%with multi-pass local loading.The multi-pass local loading process allows for more effective control of material flow compared to single-pass local loading,leading to improved cavity filling and reduced flow line disturbance.For a large-scale,complex titanium alloy bulkhead,the cavity filling problem was addressed by optimizing the multi-pass local loading path with an unequal thickness billet.The dynamic performance of the multi-pass local loading hydraulic system was found to be robust,with stable pressure transitions during motion and load switching for the sub-die(s).The dynamic characteristic of the hydraulic cylinder when switching from non-moving/unloaded state to a moving/loading state are consistent whether a load is present or not.However,the dynamic characteristics differ when switching from a moving/loading state to non-moving/unloaded state,showing opposite behavior.The developed hydraulic drive mechanism provides a way for implementation of multi-pass local loading without auxiliary operation and extra heating.The results of the study provide a foundation for the industrial production of large-scale,complex components with reduced force requirement and low-energy consumption. 展开更多

The P2-type Fe/Mn-based layered oxides,with cost advantages and high theoretical capacity,are considered one of the promising cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries(SIBs).However,the commercial development of these materials is impeded by two main factors:the MnO_(6) structure distortion induced by the Jahn-Teller(J-T)effect of Mn^(3+),and the unfavorable phase transitions that occur during the insertion and extraction of Na^(+).Here,we present a strategy to improve structural stability by incorporating cost-effective,robust Al-O bonds.This approach induces localized adjustments in the electronic structu re and a pinning effect,which limits the deformation of the transition metal(TM)layers,strengthens the electrostatic bonding within the TM layers,and expands the Na layer spacing.Consequently,the Na_(0.67)Fe_(0.4)Mn_(0.54)Al_(0.06)O_(2) cathode demonstrates a capacity of 168.8 mAh g^(-1) at 0.1 C,maintaining89.2%of its original capacity after 200 cycles at 1 C.Through in situ electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS)with dynamic resistance transformation(DRT)analysis,ex situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy(XAS),and in situ X-ray diffraction(XRD),the study demonstrates a reduction in the J-T effect,enhanced kinetic performance,and the inhibition of detrimental phase transitions.This study offers new avenues to the development and design of future low-cost Fe/Mn-based cathodes. 展开更多

The laboratory established an efficient reversed-phase ultra-high-performance liquid chromatographyquadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry(UPLC-Q-TOF-MS)qualitative method for screening more than 2000 kinds of risk substances(including local anesthetics,LAs)in cosmetics,which has been successfully applied in the analysis of actual samples.This work aims to develop a more convenient high performance liquid chromatography triple quadrupole mass spectrometry(HPLC-QQQ-MS/MS)method for the quantitative determination of LAs.Samples were ultrasonically extracted with methanol,separated on an Agilent Poroshell 120 EC-C18 column(2.1 mm×100 mm,2.7μm),and eluted with a gradient mobile phase consisting of 0.1%formic acid aqueous solution and methanol.Quantification was performed using the external standard method.The results show that all 23 LAs are effectively separated within 12 minutes,with good linearity in the corresponding concentration ranges and the correlation coefficients all greater than 0.99.The limits of detection(LOD)range from 0.0025 to 0.05μg/g,and the limits of quantification(LOQ)range from 0.01 to 0.1μg/g.The average recoveries of the 23 LAs in 5 blank cosmetic matrices are 80.68%-117.57%,with the relative standard deviations(RSDs)less than 5.98%.This method has good precision and high accuracy,and is suitable for the determination of LAs in 5 cosmetic matrices. 展开更多

Since the view that the localized rail third-order bending mode can cause high-order polygonization(mainly 18-23)of high-speed train wheels was put forward in 2017,many scholars have attempted to link a connection between the localized rail bending modes and wheel polygonization phenomenon and polygonal wheel passing frequency.This paper first establishes a flexible track model considering the structural and parametric characteristics of fasteners,verifies the model by using vehicle tracking test data,then investigates the influence of fastener parameter matching on the localized rail bending modes,and obtains the following conclusions:(1)There is nearly a 1:1 mapping relationship between the localized rail bending modal frequency and polygonal wheel passing(PWP)frequency,which supports that the localized rail bending mode is one of the causes of wheel polygonization.(2)The iron plate of the fastener system plays a role of dynamic vibration absorber in the vehicle-rail coupled system,and the fastener parameters significantly influence the localized rail bending modal vibration.Finally,this paper proposes a design principle of a high-frequency vibration-absorbing fastener,which provides a feasible solution to mitigate the localized rail bending modal vibration and high-order wheel polygonization.Meanwhile,it points out that this measure may induce other high-frequency vibration problems,e.g.,aggravating modal vibration above 800 Hz.Further,this paper proposes a concept of differentiated arrangement of fasteners,suggesting that different high-frequency vibration-absorbing fasteners be installed in different sections of the whole line to make the localized rail bending modal frequency of the whole line disordered,thus disrupting and further mitigating the development of the wheel polygonization. 展开更多

Reconfigurable intelligent surfaces(RISs)not only assist communication but also help the localization of user equipment(UE).This study focuses on indoor localization of UE with a single access point(AP)and multiple RISs.First,we propose a two-stage channel estimation scheme where RIS phase shifts are tuned to obtain multiple channel soundings.In the first stage,the newtonized orthogonal matching pursuit algorithm extracts the parameters of multiple paths from the received signals.Then,the LOS path and RISreflected paths are identified.In the second stage,the estimated path gains of RIS-reflected paths with different phase shifts are utilized to determine the angle of arrival(AOA)at the RIS by obtaining the angular pseudo spectrum.Consequently,by taking the AP and RISs as reference points,the linear least squares estimator can locate UE with the estimated AOAs.Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can realize centimeter-level localization accuracy in the discussed scenarios.Moreover,the higher accuracy of pseudo spectrum,a larger number of channel soundings,and a larger number of reference points can realize higher localization accuracy of UE. 展开更多

Wi-Fi technology has evolved significantly since its introduction in 1997,advancing to Wi-Fi 6 as the latest standard,with Wi-Fi 7 currently under development.Despite these advancements,integrating machine learning into Wi-Fi networks remains challenging,especially in decentralized environments with multiple access points(mAPs).This paper is a short review that summarizes the potential applications of federated reinforcement learning(FRL)across eight key areas of Wi-Fi functionality,including channel access,link adaptation,beamforming,multi-user transmissions,channel bonding,multi-link operation,spatial reuse,and multi-basic servic set(multi-BSS)coordination.FRL is highlighted as a promising framework for enabling decentralized training and decision-making while preserving data privacy.To illustrate its role in practice,we present a case study on link activation in a multi-link operation(MLO)environment with multiple APs.Through theoretical discussion and simulation results,the study demonstrates how FRL can improve performance and reliability,paving the way for more adaptive and collaborative Wi-Fi networks in the era of Wi-Fi 7 and beyond. 展开更多

Background:The long-term outcomes of robotic-assisted surgery and the prognostic significance of the pretreatment neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR)in locally advanced rectal cancer(LARC)remain uncertain.This study aimed to assess the long-term outcomes of patients with LARC undergoing robotic-assisted surgery and to determine the prognostic value of pretreatment NLR.Methods:We retrospectively reviewed 252 patients with LARC who were treated at a single medical center in Taiwan between January 2012 and January 2023.All patients underwent neoadjuvant concurrent chemoradiotherapy(CRT)followed by robotic-assisted surgery with total mesorectal excision(TME).Patients were stratified into four groups on the basis of pretreatment NLRs and carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA)levels.Univariate and multivariate analyses were conducted to identify prognostic indicators for overall survival(OS)and disease-free survival(DFS).Results:Patients with a pretreatment NLR of≥3.2 exhibited significantly worse OS and DFS compared with those with an NLR of<3.2(OS:94.4 vs.116.5 months,p=0.001;DFS:78.8 vs.101.7 months,p=0.003).Group A exhibited the poorest prognosis,whereas Group D had the most favorable outcomes.Multivariate analysis revealed NLR≥3.2 as an independent predictor of poor OS(hazard ratio[HR]=2.306,95%CI:1.149-3.747;p=0.001)and DFS(HR=2.055,95%CI:1.341-3.148;p=0.001).Conclusion:Neoadjuvant concurrent CRT followed by robotic-assisted TME is an effective treatment strategy for LARC.A higher pretreatment NLR(≥3.2)independently predicted worse OS and DFS.Stratification using the NLR in combination with CEA levels may enhance prognostic accuracy for patients undergoing robotic-assisted surgery for LARC. 展开更多

In ultrasonic non-destructive testing of high-temperature industrial equipment,sound velocity drift induced by non-uniform temperature fields can severely compromise defect localization accuracy.Conventional approaches that rely on room-temperature sound velocities introduce systematic errors,potentially leading to misjudgment of safety-critical components.Two primary challenges hinder current methods:first,it is difficult to monitor real-time changes in sound velocity distribution within a thermal gradient;second,traditional uniform-temperature correction models fail to capture the nonlinear dependence of material properties on temperature and their effect on ultrasonic velocity fields.Here,we propose a defect localization correction method based on multiphysics coupling.A two-dimensional coupled heat transfer–wave propagation model is established in COMSOL,and a one-dimensional steady-state heat transfer condition is used to design a numerical pulse–echo experiment in 1020 steel.Temperature-dependent material properties are incorporated,and the intrinsic relationship between sound velocity and temperature is derived,confirming consistency with classical theories.To account for gradient temperature fields,a micro-element integration algorithm discretizes the propagation path into segments,each associated with a locally computed temperature from the steady-state heat conduction solution.Defect positions are dynamically corrected through cumulative displacement along the propagation path.By integrating heat conduction and elastic wave propagation in a multiphysics framework,this method overcomes the limitations of uniform-temperature assumptions.The micro-element integration approach enables dynamic tracking of spatially varying sound velocities,offering a robust strategy to enhance ultrasonic testing accuracy in high-temperature industrial environments. 展开更多
