In the form of linguistics, language is a form of system, the research is in the form of the combination of form and meaning, language learning is rules and skills to master. In systemic functional linguistics, language is a system the study is in the context of significance. Language learning, therefore, the use of language, masters the language knowledge and skills in practice and the social culture. From a social point of view of language learning, language learning is no longer the pure knowledge and skills to master the cognitive process of memory, but a process of social interaction between individuals. Integrating local cultural resources into language teaching is a significant trend in fostering students’core competencies.This study addresses the challenge of effectively implementing China’s educational policy of...Integrating local cultural resources into language teaching is a significant trend in fostering students’core competencies.This study addresses the challenge of effectively implementing China’s educational policy of“Core Competencies for English as a Subject”in middle school classrooms by leveraging the unique revolutionary(“Red”)culture of Tangshan City.The research developed and tested a pedagogical model that utilizes Tangshan’s rich Red Culture heritage-such as the Kailuan Miners’Movement and the Xifengkou Great Wall Resistance relics-as authentic content for English language learning.Employing a mixed-methods approach,including literature review,fieldwork,action research,and case analysis in partner middle schools,the project involved designing thematic teaching resources(e.g.,lesson plans,micro-lectures)and implementing interactive activities like role-playing and project-based learning.Findings indicate that this localized approach significantly enhanced students’engagement,cultural awareness,critical thinking,and language application skills,effectively addressing the four dimensions of English core competencies:language ability,cultural awareness,thinking capacity,and learning ability.The study concludes that the“Local Culture-Integrated Core Competency Model”provides a practical,replicable framework for synergizing values education with language acquisition.It offers valuable insights for educators worldwide seeking to incorporate local history and values into foreign language curricula,promoting deeper contextual learning.展开更多

Malaria is a potentially lethal disease caused by parasites of the Plasmodium genus, transmitted to humans through the bite of infected female mosquitoes, primarily Anopheles. To control this disease, various strategi...Malaria is a potentially lethal disease caused by parasites of the Plasmodium genus, transmitted to humans through the bite of infected female mosquitoes, primarily Anopheles. To control this disease, various strategies are implemented, including biological control, which targets the vectors of the parasite. This approach uses biological agents such as entomopathogenic fungi, including Metarhizium pingshaense, a fungus capable of causing lethal infections in mosquitoes. The production of Metarhizium pingshaense is still limited in Burkina Faso, and local cultivation of this fungus could help fill this gap. A study was conducted to identify optimal local substrates that promote its growth. Indeed, after gathering information on the dietary habits of populations in Bobo-Dioulasso and Bama, three potential substrates were selected: rice, cornmeal dough (MFL), and beans. These substrates were inoculated with two strains of Metarhizium pingshaense (S10 and S26) to assess their ability to support fungal growth and their effectiveness. Experimental results showed that MFL and bean substrates favored optimal growth of Metarhizium pingshaense, with growths of 1.91 cm and 2.13 cm after 8 days, compared to 1.83 cm on a standard media (PDA). In terms of virulence, S26 strain caused 60% mosquito mortality on both the bean and PDA media, while S10 strain induced mortalities of 50% for bean and 62% for PDA.展开更多
In response to China’s national strategy of“Curriculum Ideology and Politics”(CIP),which integrates moral and political education into all disciplines,this study addresses the challenge of effectively implementing ...In response to China’s national strategy of“Curriculum Ideology and Politics”(CIP),which integrates moral and political education into all disciplines,this study addresses the challenge of effectively implementing CIP in college English courses.Moving beyond generic approaches,this practice-oriented research project developed and piloted a localized CIP model for the widely used New Horizon College English(Fourth Edition)textbook.The core innovation lies in constructing a three-dimensional“textbook-culture-ideology”element map that systematically links specific unit themes with the unique cultural resources of Tangshan City,such as its industrial heritage,the“Spirit of Earthquake Resilience,”and intangible cultural heritage like Shadow Puppetry.Employing a methodology of content analysis,case study,and action research,the project identified synergies between textbook content and local culture,designed corresponding teaching activities,and implemented them in freshman English classes.Findings indicate that this localized approach enhanced student engagement,fostered cultural confidence,and facilitated the natural integration of ideological-political elements into language learning.The study concludes that the“textbook-culture-ideology”mapping model offers a practical,replicable framework for enriching college English teaching with meaningful local context,thereby achieving CIP goals more authentically.It provides valuable insights for pedagogical innovation in similar contexts.展开更多

They are quite different from other common ecotourism areas, because of its original and unique system, sensitive...The nature heritages are the precious legacy of nature with outstanding scientific and aesthetic value. They are quite different from other common ecotourism areas, because of its original and unique system, sensitive and vulnerable landscape, and peripheral cultural features. Therefore, the tourism development in the nature heritage sites should be on the premise of ecological security. The evaluation index system of tourism ecological security in nature heritage sites was constructed in this article by AHP and Delphi methods, including nature ecological security, landscape visual security and local culture ecological security, and the security thresholds of indices were also established. In the indices' weights of the evaluation model, the nature ecological security ranked the highest, followed by tourist landscape visual security and culture ecological security, which reflected the influence degree of the limited factor to tourism ecological security. Then, this paper carried out an empirical study of Kanas of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China, which has the potential to be the World Nature Heritage. On the basis of the data attained from survey and observation on the spot, as well as questionnaire answered by tourists and local communities, the ecological security status in Kanas was evaluated. The result showed that the status of Kanas tourism ecological security was better, but there had some limiting factors. Lastly, effective measures were put forward to ensure its ecological security.展开更多

Iran,located in one of the most earthquake-prone regions of the world,has experienced a very large number of destructive earthquakes that brought about considerable loss of human life and economic consequences.The cou...Iran,located in one of the most earthquake-prone regions of the world,has experienced a very large number of destructive earthquakes that brought about considerable loss of human life and economic consequences.The coun‑try possesses a vast number of monumental and vernacular built heritages that are constantly threatened by earth‑quakes.As vernacular techniques for dwellings comply with the needs,comfort,utility,and functionality of people,it is expected that endemic earthquake-resistant techniques make an essential contribution to Iranian vernacular archi‑tecture.The city of Yazd presents a unique and rich vernacular for earthen construction within Iranian architectural heritage,which has resulted in the recognition of the historic fabric of the city as a World Heritage Site since 2017.Considering the importance of exploring diferent local seismic cultures worldwide,this paper introduces an essential part of Iranian local seismic culture by recognising and classifying the vernacular earthquake-resistant techniques used in the earthen architecture of the city of Yazd.The techniques were collected by surveying the historic fabric,using data available in the literature,and interviewing traditional builders and local conservators.Next,the seismic infuence of each technique was evaluated using examples from the performance of adobe constructions during the 2003 Bam earthquake.展开更多

文摘The number of foreign students studying in Wenzhou, China has increased dramatically as a result of the Belt and Road Initiative. Learning the motivations and leisure constraints of foreign students' participation in local cultural and folk activities in Wenzhou is beneficial to promoting cultural adaptation, strengthening Chinese cultural self-confidence, and improving Wenzhou's international image. Based on the hierarchical model of leisure constraints (personal constraints, interpersonal constraints, and structural constraints), this study has tended to focus on the leisure constraints for foreign students participating in local folk and cultural activities in Wenzhou. A total of seven participants were included in the analysis.

文摘The nature heritages are the precious legacy of nature with outstanding scientific and aesthetic value. They are quite different from other common ecotourism areas, because of its original and unique system, sensitive and vulnerable landscape, and peripheral cultural features. Therefore, the tourism development in the nature heritage sites should be on the premise of ecological security. The evaluation index system of tourism ecological security in nature heritage sites was constructed in this article by AHP and Delphi methods, including nature ecological security, landscape visual security and local culture ecological security, and the security thresholds of indices were also established. In the indices' weights of the evaluation model, the nature ecological security ranked the highest, followed by tourist landscape visual security and culture ecological security, which reflected the influence degree of the limited factor to tourism ecological security. Then, this paper carried out an empirical study of Kanas of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China, which has the potential to be the World Nature Heritage. On the basis of the data attained from survey and observation on the spot, as well as questionnaire answered by tourists and local communities, the ecological security status in Kanas was evaluated. The result showed that the status of Kanas tourism ecological security was better, but there had some limiting factors. Lastly, effective measures were put forward to ensure its ecological security.
文摘Guangdong＇ s Foshan paper-cutting art is significantly related with the local folk culture and religion, with unique craflwork as well as rich subjects. In the present paper, the characteristics of subjects was analyzed in detail based on the relationship between Foshan papercutting and local folk religion, folk activities and folk cultural activities. It is suggested that subjects of Foshan paper-cutting is strongly affected by the coast and regional culture as well as widely affected by the coastal culture especially foreign culture. Foshan paper-cutting is the typical example for studying folk custom life of Lingnan area because of the rich subjects.

文摘Aesthetic education not only exists in the classroom,but also in the urban living environment.The development of this environmental aesthetic education function is often accompanied by the development and change of urban landscape.Urban agricultural landscape is an organic part of modern urban landscape.It is different from machines or buildings in general urban production and life.Its local aesthetic value should be fully recognized and excavated.This is mainly reflected in the beauty of traditional agricultural skills,agricultural landscapes,and agricultural activities.At the same time,according to the different ways of interaction between people and the environment(ways of receiving aesthetic education),the development mode of vernacular aesthetic education of urban agricultural landscape can be divided into three:viewing mode,short-time contact,and long-time immersion.
文摘Iran,located in one of the most earthquake-prone regions of the world,has experienced a very large number of destructive earthquakes that brought about considerable loss of human life and economic consequences.The coun‑try possesses a vast number of monumental and vernacular built heritages that are constantly threatened by earth‑quakes.As vernacular techniques for dwellings comply with the needs,comfort,utility,and functionality of people,it is expected that endemic earthquake-resistant techniques make an essential contribution to Iranian vernacular archi‑tecture.The city of Yazd presents a unique and rich vernacular for earthen construction within Iranian architectural heritage,which has resulted in the recognition of the historic fabric of the city as a World Heritage Site since 2017.Considering the importance of exploring diferent local seismic cultures worldwide,this paper introduces an essential part of Iranian local seismic culture by recognising and classifying the vernacular earthquake-resistant techniques used in the earthen architecture of the city of Yazd.The techniques were collected by surveying the historic fabric,using data available in the literature,and interviewing traditional builders and local conservators.Next,the seismic infuence of each technique was evaluated using examples from the performance of adobe constructions during the 2003 Bam earthquake.
文摘Taking the personal experience of Robert Morrison into account, this paper focuses on the rapport between the author and his works. As the first Protestant missionary to China, Robert Morrison endeavored to learn the Chinese language and to collect local cultural information, so as to encyclopedically present his knowledge of Chinese through the language reference books he compiled. This paper examines the range of linguistic registers of the represented examples from Morrison＇s dictionaries, so as to discuss the way in which various registers are combined into the text and how they are related with different social arenas. Placing Morrison＇s works in a wider social and intellectual context, this paper also discusses issues of cultural exchange between China and early nineteenth-century Europe.
