文摘BACKGROUND Insomnia is a common sleep disorder that negatively impacts quality of life and is frequently comorbid with depression and anxiety.Chronic insomnia affects approximately 15%of the global population, with higher prevalence among females and the elderly. While existing research suggests a bidirectional relationship between insomnia and emotional disorders, the specific impact of insomnia severity on depression, anxiety, and quality of life remains unclear. This study investigates the correlation between insomnia severity and these factors in psychiatric outpatients, hypothesizing that greater insomnia severity is associated with higher levels of depression and anxiety,as well as poorer quality of life.AIM To explore the correlation between insomnia severity and depression, anxiety, and quality of life in primary chronic insomnia patients.METHODS From June to December 2023,345 patients with primary insomnia in Chifeng city were recruited and divided into three groups based on Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI)scores:Mild(n=137),moderate(n=162),and severe(n=46).Demographic data were collected via questionnaires.Self-rating depression scale(SDS),self-rating anxiety scale(SAS),PSQI,and short form 36(SF-36)scores were compared, and Pearson and partial correlation analyses were performed.RESULTS The greater the degree of insomnia, the greater the symptoms of depression and anxiety(P<0.001).The more severe the insomnia, the lower the SF-36 score(excluding body pain),and the difference between the three groups was statist ically significant(P<0.001).Pearson correlation analysis and partial correlation analysis depicted the SDS score and SAS score were apparently positively correlated with the severity of insomnia(P<0.001).Pearson correlation analysis and partial correlation analysis depicted the SF-36 scores were apparently positively correlated with the severity of insomnia(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Depression and anxiety are independent factors influencing insomnia severity in primary chronic insomnia patients.Higher depression/anxiety levels correlate with worse insomnia, impacting quality of life.
文摘Objectives:The study assessed the physical and environmental quality of life(QoL)of patients with chronic kidney disease(CKD)undergoing maintenance hemodialysis(HD)therapy at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital,Makurdi.Materials and Methods:An exploratory qualitative research design was adopted to conduct research on patients with CKD undergoing HD at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital,Makurdi, between October 2024 and May 2025.A researcher developed a semi-structured open-ended interview guide, and audio tapes were used to purposively collect data from 15 consented participants. The data were analyzed using NVivo version 10.0 for descriptive purposes. Results:The data revealed two(2)major themes:perceived body discomfort(body pain,nausea/vomiting,physical fatigue, physical dependence, life,as subthemes)and constraints(restricted lifestyle and barriers to access to HD therapy as subthemes). Conclusion:Although HD is perceived as a hope for CKD patients, the treatment severely compromises their physical and environmental QoL.
文摘Several contemporary ophthalmological researches have been shifting from a clinical-centered perspective to a more patient-centered approach. This evolution is particularly evident in the study of primary open-angle glaucoma(POAG),in which some investigations have focused on the complex interplay between objective medical parameters and subjective patient experiences.Given that glaucoma remains one of the leading causes of irreversible blindness globally, the integration of quality of life(QoL)metrics into routine clinical workflows is indispensable for improving patient care(1,2).
文摘Palliative care extends beyond the individual child to encompass their family, healthcare providers, and broader socio-emotional networks.Timely and analytically informed palliative interventions not only alleviate the emotional burden experienced by terminally ill children and their family caregivers due to prolonged caregiving but also enhance the quality of life in the child’s final stages.Currently,it is particularly important to note that an overemphasis on the healing function of physical spaces may risk relegating humanistic care to the margins once again. Therefore, when accompanying children through their end-of-life journey,it is essential to fully respect their need to express memories, maintain autonomy, and preserve dignity. They should be gently“seen”and compassionately accompanied until the very end, thereby facilitating a meaningful farewell that embodies a form of spiritual ecology.

文摘Under the background of resource shortage and global warming,it is of great significance to explore the status, influencing factors and carbon emission reduction effect of waste recycling in China after the implementation of new waste classification policy for guiding waste classification and carbon emission accounting. In this research, the temporal and spatial changes and influencing factors of waste recycling were studied from subdistrict level,life-cycle carbon emission reduction was predicted and policy suggestions for waste recycling were proposed. The results showed that after the implementation of new waste classification policy, the amount of recycled waste and the proportion of low-value recycled waste increased by 420.93 t and 2.29%per month on average, respectively. The district center has the largest amount of recycled waste.Income was the main factors affecting waste recycling, and online shopping and takeout could become important sources of recyclable waste.Accounting cradle-to-grave life cycle carbon footprint, waste plastics takes up the most contribution, accounting for 39.11%,and nearly 391.68 Mt CO_(2eq) would be reduced by waste recycling in China by 2030.Therefore,in the process of waste classification, refining waste classification to increase the amount of low-value recyclables, and rationally deploying collection and transportation vehicles to ensure efficient waste recycling are of great significance to achieve the goal of“carbon peaking and carbon neutrality”.

文摘Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)is a complex condition marked by considerable interindividual heterogeneity.Comorbidities exacerbate this variability, worsening disease severity and reducing health-related quality of life(HRQoL).Despite the high prevalence of COPD in China,COPD patient clusters remain poorly characterized. This study aimed to identify and validate clusters of Chinese patients with COPD,characterized primarily by comorbidity profiles, using cluster analysis. This cross-sectional,multicenter cohort study used data from the Chinese Enjoying Breathing Program(2020–2023).HRQoL was measured using the EuroQol five dimension(EQ-5D).Dimension reduction was performed via multiple correspondence analysis on 31 variables, including indicators of 27 comorbidities and four sociodemographic or health-related characteristics.Unsupervised machine learning algorithms,K-means++,and hierarchical clustering identified distinct clusters.Robustness was assessed using random forest classification.Logistic regression evaluated the association between cluster membership and EQ-5D outcomes.Among 11145 patients,59.4%had comorbidities.Four clusters emerged:young male smokers,biomass-exposed females, respiratory comorbidity, and elderly multimorbid. The last two clusters had notably lower HRQoL.Cluster analysis identified four clinically meaningful COPD patient clusters based on comorbidities and risk profiles, each with distinct HRQoL outcomes. These findings support targeted public health interventions and integrated care strategies for COPD management.

文摘The total replacement of old fossil fuels poses obstacles, making the production of efficient biogasoline vital.Despite its potential as an environmentally friendly fossil fuel substitute, the life cycle assessment(LCA)of palm oil-derived biogasoline remains underexplored. This study investigated the production of biogasoline fromcrude palm oil(CPO)based biorefinery using catalytic cracking over mesoporousγ-Al_(2)O_(3) catalyst and LCA analysis.High selectivity of converting CPO into biogasoline was achieved by optimizing catalytic cracking parameters, including catalyst dose, temperature, and contact time.γ-Al_(2)O_(3) and CPO were characterized by several methods to study the physical and chemical properties. The physical properties of biogasoline, such as density, calorific value, viscosity, and flash point, were investigated. An overall yield of 60.11%was achieved after catalytic cracking produced several C5-C11 short-chain hydrocarbons.Additionally, this research proposes innovative emission reduction strategies, including waste-to-biogasoline conversion and the use of biodegradable feedstocks that enhance the sustainability of biogasoline production.LCA ofγ-Al_(2)O_(3)’s energy and environmental implications reveals minor effects on global warming(0.0068%)and freshwater ecotoxicity(0.187%).LCAs show a 0.085%impact in the energy sector. This focus on both ecological impacts and practical mitigation strategies deepens the understanding of biogasoline production.
文摘BACKGROUND Anxiety, depression, and other negative emotions are common among patients with chronic renal failure(CRF).Analyzing the factors related to negative emotions is necessary to provide targeted nursing care.AIM To explore the correlations among life satisfaction, pleasure levels, and negative emotions in patients with CRF.METHODS One hundred patients with CRF who received therapy at the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinzhou Medical University between December 2022 and February 2025 were included. The Depression,Anxiety, and Stress Scale(DASS-21),Satisfaction with Life Scale(SWLS),and Temporal Experience of Pleasure Scale(TEPS)were used to evaluate negative emotions, life satisfaction, and pleasure level, respectively.Pearson’s correlation coefficient analyzed the correlation between life satisfaction, pleasure level, and negative emotions.Linear regression analysis identified the factors affecting negative emotions.RESULTS The average DASS-21 score among patients with CRF was 51.90±2.30,with subscale scores of 17.90±1.50 for depression,18.53±1.18 for anxiety, and 15.47±2.36 for stress, all significantly higher than the domestic norm(P<0.05).The average SWLS score was 22.17±4.90.Correlation analysis revealed a negative correlation between the SWLS and total DASS-21 scores(P<0.05),but not with the individual depression, anxiety,or stress dimensions. The average TEPS score was 67.80±8.34.TEPS scores were negatively correlated with the DASS-21 score and the stress dimension(P<0.05),but not with depression or anxiety.Linear regression analysis showed that TEPS scores significantly influenced DASS-21 scores(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Patients with CRF experience high levels of negative emotions, which are negatively correlated with life satisfaction and pleasure.Furthermore, pleasure level had an impact on negative emotions.
