Based on our research findings, we concluded our research paper with a set of evaluative comments and suggestions. Those remarks are aimed at furthering the TWIMS’ functionality and reconstructing a more sensible questionnaire survey appertaining to the system users’ experience as well in the next phase of our extended research.展开更多

For this reason, a mobile agent based framework for integrating digital library system is proposed. Based on this framework, a prototype system is implemented and the key technique for it are described. The first step is to carry out the quantity and quality analysis of the test items by using the Bloom＇s revised taxonomy and scale anchoring respectively to produce the characteristics for test items. A smoothing method of arbitrary anchoring revised from scale anchoring is first proposed to make tests more accurate in distinguishing test levels. In addition, raised three dimensional indicators based on the Bloom＇s revised taxonomy are adopted to validate test contents and therefore it concretely describes the examining function of items. The items obtained have the precise and concrete properties; an item knowledge library is therefore constructed combining teaching materials and items using the technologies of ontology and knowledge management. Purpose: The study intends to examine the factors influencing the behavioral intention to use academic libraries’ mobile systems from the perspective of current users and potential adopters, respectively. Design/meth...Purpose: The study intends to examine the factors influencing the behavioral intention to use academic libraries’ mobile systems from the perspective of current users and potential adopters, respectively. Design/methodology/approach: Our study investigates the mobile library system’s acceptance by using a context-specific extension of the theory of reasoned action(TRA) and the technology acceptance model(TAM), which includes such factors as mobile self-efficacy, personal innovativeness and perceived playfulness. Structural equation modeling was used to test the validity of the proposed model based on the empirical data which was collected from 210 questionnaire survey participants.Findings: The result shows that 1) for both current users and potential adopters, attitude toward use and subjective norm both have a significant and positive impact on behavioral intention to use; 2) perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use are significantly correlated to potential adopters’ attitude toward use whereas perceived usefulness and perceived playfulness are significantly related to current users’ attitude toward use; 3) as for the comparison between the two groups of users, personal innovativeness not only affects perceived usefulness of both current users and potential adopters, but also affects potential adopters’ perceived playfulness positively. Mobile self-efficacy has a significant effect on perceived ease of use for both types of users.Research limitations: Although the sample size met the basic statistics requirements for the social research, the participants were mainly college students, and other mobile system users like faculty members and researchers were not investigated. In addition, some influencing factors, such as information quality, system quality and service quality were not considered in the research model.Practical implications: This study reveals main factors which influence both current users and potential adopters’ intention to use the mobile system, providing academic libraries withinsights into management strategies to offer customized mobile services to different types of users. Originality/value: Previous studies did not distinguish current users from potential adopters, which is not conducive for academic libraries to provide customized services and attract potential users. Objective:Osteosarcoma is the most common primary malignant bone tumor.However,the survival of patients with osteosarcoma has remained unchanged during the past 30 years,owing to a lack of efficient therapeutic target...Objective:Osteosarcoma is the most common primary malignant bone tumor.However,the survival of patients with osteosarcoma has remained unchanged during the past 30 years,owing to a lack of efficient therapeutic targets.Methods:We constructed a kinome-targeting CRISPR-Cas9 library containing 507 kinases and 100 nontargeting controls and screened the potential kinase targets in osteosarcoma.The CRISPR screening sequencing data were analyzed with the Model-based Analysis of Genome-wide CRISPR/Cas9 Knockout(MAGeCK)Python package.The functional data were applied in the 143B cell line through lenti-CRISPR-mediated gene knockout.The clinical significance of kinases in the survival of patients with osteosarcoma was analyzed in the R2:Genomics Analysis and Visualization Platform.Results:We identified 53 potential kinase targets in osteosarcoma.Among these targets,we analyzed 3 kinases,TRRAP,PKMYT1,and TP53RK,to validate their oncogenic functions in osteosarcoma.PKMYT1 and TP53RK showed higher expression in osteosarcoma than in normal bone tissue,whereas TRRAP showed no significant difference.High expression of all 3 kinases was associated with relatively poor prognosis in patients with osteosarcoma.Conclusions:Our results not only offer potential therapeutic kinase targets in osteosarcoma but also provide a paradigm for functional genetic screening by using a CRISPR-Cas9 library,including target design,library construction,screening workflow,data analysis,and functional validation.This method may also be useful in potentially accelerating drug discovery for other cancer types.展开更多

Studi...The volume of information being created, generated and stored is huge. Without adequate knowledge of Information Retrieval (IR) methods, the retrieval process for information would be cumbersome and frustrating. Studies have further revealed that IR methods are essential in information centres (for example, Digital Library environment) for storage and retrieval of information. Therefore, with more than one billion people accessing the Internet, and millions of queries being issued on a daily basis, modern Web search engines are facing a problem of daunting scale. The main problem associated with the existing search engines is how to avoid irrelevant information retrieval and to retrieve the relevant ones. In this study, the existing system of library retrieval was studied. Problems associated with them were analyzed in order to address this problem. The concept of existing information retrieval models was studied, and the knowledge gained was used to design a digital library information retrieval system. It was successfully implemented using a real life data. The need for a continuous evaluation of the IR methods for effective and efficient full text retrieval system was recommended.展开更多

The paper describes the framework of the clientele, structure, functions, policies, and management mechanisms of the services, and demonstrates its contribution to the improved accessibility of library materials in the region.
文摘The limitations of MARC and the advantages of applying XML in the library are analyzed. We also have made partial reconstruction to the existing Information Management System of the HIT library and implementation of the prototype system. This research work will significantly influence the coordination of international library resource databases and the achievement of global information sharing.
文摘Information Accessibility for disabled people is one of the most important design criteria for the China National Digital Library (CNDL) development. Sign language synthesis systems are effective to provide information services for people with hearing and speech impairments. This paper presents a framework of a sign language synthesis system application in CNDL, as well as discusses the relevant technologies applied in the system. CNDL has been a real practice area for the sign language synthesis research.
文摘This paper reports on a LSC(Library Society of China) funded project 'Library Service Network Development' and its major findings.The primary objective of the project was to investigate the work that Chinese local governments and the library profession has devoted to consolidating regional and local library systems for equitable access since the beginning of this Millennium.The study shows that in the past few years,local governments and library professionals have proactively sought ways to establish community based libraries,build contract based main-branch relations and develop regional library service networks.The study also shows that although these endeavors have produced visible improvement to local public library systems and have accumulated valuable experience for promoting equality of access,a true and sustainable equality of public library access requires radical changes to the governing structure of Chinese public libraries:it requires a redefinition of their development agents and administrative unit.
