Objective:To explore the effectiveness of multi-modal teaching based on an online case library in the education of gene methylation combined with spiral computed tomography(CT)screening for pulmonary ground-glass opac...Objective:To explore the effectiveness of multi-modal teaching based on an online case library in the education of gene methylation combined with spiral computed tomography(CT)screening for pulmonary ground-glass opacity(GGO)nodules.Methods:From October 2023 to April 2024,66 medical imaging students were selected and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group,each with 33 students.The control group received traditional lecture-based teaching,while the observation group was taught using a multi-modal teaching approach based on an online case library.Performance on assessments and teaching quality were analyzed between the two groups.Results:The observation group achieved higher scores in theoretical and practical knowledge compared to the control group(P<0.05).Additionally,the teaching quality scores were significantly higher in the observation group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Implementing multi-modal teaching based on an online case library for pulmonary GGO nodule screening with gene methylation combined with spiral CT can enhance students’knowledge acquisition,improve teaching quality,and have significant clinical application value.展开更多

This study investigated public relations practices for effective service delivery in polytechnic libraries in North-Central,Nigeria.The study was guided by two research questions.The descriptive survey research design...This study investigated public relations practices for effective service delivery in polytechnic libraries in North-Central,Nigeria.The study was guided by two research questions.The descriptive survey research design was adopted for this study.The population of the study was 107 library staff consisting of both federal and state polytechnic libraries in North-Central,Nigeria.There was no sampling as all the population of the study was used as sample.Two sets of instruments were used to collect data for the study:questionnaire for library staff and interview guide for the polytechnic librarians.The instruments were subjected to face validation by two experts.Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics while the qualitative data were transcribed,coded,and analyzed through document analysis as confirmatory to the quantitative data collected.The formulated hypotheses were tested using t-test.The findings revealed that public relations practices used by librarians were attending to users’enquiries on the public information desks and providing suggestion boxes to collect users’opinions,etc.(X=3.20,Sd=0.77;X=3.10,Sd=0.73);Projectors and bulletin boards were the facilities employed in public relations practices(X=3.21,Sd=0.86;X=3.18,Sd=0.69).Based on the findings,it was recommended that,the library management should create awareness on the public relations practices used for effective service delivery through such fora as workshop,orientation,and seminar to educate library users on the relevance of public relations;also librarians should use every possible avenue to be abreast with state-of-the-art facilities that can be employed in public relations practices in polytechnic libraries for effective service delivery,among others.展开更多

Both the usage and information resources can be exploited to extract useful knowledge from the way users interact with a digital library. Through combination and mapping between the extracted knowledge and domain ontology, semantic content retrieval between queries and documents can be utilized. As the most common variation, single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) are suitable for accurate genotyping by using the next-generation sequencing(NGS) technology. Reduced representation libraries(RRLs) of five barley accessions and one mutant were sequenced using NGS technology for SNP discovery. Twenty million short reads were generated and the proportion of repetitive sequences was reduced by more than 56%. A total of 6061 SNPs were identified, and 451 were mapped to the draft sequence of the barley genome with pairing reads. Eleven SNPs were validated using length polymorphic allele-specific PCR markers.展开更多
This study creates and combines the general maneuver libraries for fixed-wing aircraft to implement tactical maneuvers.First,the generalized maneuver libraries are established by analyzing the characteristics of tacti...This study creates and combines the general maneuver libraries for fixed-wing aircraft to implement tactical maneuvers.First,the generalized maneuver libraries are established by analyzing the characteristics of tactical maneuvers required in battlefields.The 7th order polynomial is applied to both the creation of the maneuver libraries and the generation of the trajectories or flight paths for modal inputs.To track the desired trajectory,we design the Attitude Command Attitude Hold(ACAH)system and the Rate Command Rate Hold(RCRH)system using Model Following Controller(MFC).Moreover,the Line-of-Sight(LOS)guidance law is designed.In particular,the CONDUIT~?is employed to optimize the gains so that the control systems meet the aircraft Handling Qualities(HQ)criteria.Finally,flight simulations are performed for the longitudinal loop,immelmann-turn,and climb-slalom-descent maneuvers to verify that tactical aggressive maneuvers are realizable via the combination of maneuver libraries.This study can contribute to the development of flight techniques for aircraft tactical maneuvers and to the revision of air force operational manuals.展开更多

This new program is part of the strategic planning for the future of the library and is focused on three primary goals： expanding the library＇s research portfolio,building librarians＇ research skills and competencies,and increasing the library＇s research visibility. Purpose: This study examines acknowledgments to libraries in the journal literature, as well as the efficacy of using Web of Science(WoS) to locate general acknowledgment text.Design/methodology/approach: This mixed-m...Purpose: This study examines acknowledgments to libraries in the journal literature, as well as the efficacy of using Web of Science(WoS) to locate general acknowledgment text.Design/methodology/approach: This mixed-methods approach quantifies and characterizes acknowledgments to libraries in the journal literature. Using WoS's Funding Text field, the acknowledgments for six peer universities were identified and then characterized. The efficacy of using WoS to locate library acknowledgments was assessed by comparing the WoS Funding Text search results to the actual acknowledgment text found in the articles.Findings: Acknowledgments to libraries were found in articles at all six peer universities, though the absolute and relative numbers were quite low(< 0.5%). Most of the library acknowledgments were for resources(collections, funding, etc.), and many were concentrated in natural history(e.g. zoology). Examination of Texas A&M University zoology articles found that 91.7% of the funding information came from "acknowledgments" and not specifically a funding acknowledgment section. The WoS Funding Text search found 56% of the library acknowledgments compared to a search of the actual acknowledgment text in the articles.Research limitations: Limiting publications to journals, using a single truncated search term, and including only six research universities in the United States.Practical implications: This study examined library acknowledgments, but the same approach could be applied to searches of other keywords, institutions/organizations, individuals, etc. While not specifically designed to search general acknowledgments, WoS's Funding Text field can be used as an exploratory tool to search acknowledgments beyond funding. Originality/value: There are a few studies that have examined library acknowledgments in the scholarly literature, though to date none of those studies have examined the efficacy of using the WoS Funding Text field to locate those library acknowledgments within the journal literature.展开更多

In order to ge...Purpose: China Academic Library & Information System(CALIS) planned to launch an institutional repository(IR) project to promote IR development and open access at colleges and universities in China. In order to get to know the current state of IRs in academic institutions, with the help of Peking University Library, CALIS Administrative Center conducted this survey.Design/methodology/approach: We conducted an online survey of CALIS member libraries.Findings: Firstly, the development of IRs at China's colleges and universities is still in its infancy. Secondly, the Chinese colleges and universities have reached a consensus on the objective for having an IR. Thirdly, they are having high expectations of IR functions. Fourthly,they prefer to establish a centralized IR system at a minimum cost. Finally, there are both similarities and differences between the Chinese academic institutions and their counterparts in other countries in the state of IR development.Research limitations: The questionnaire needs to be improved because there is a lack of enough questions for those who do not plan to build an IR. Comparatively lower rate of valid questionnaire return can affect the accuracy of the results. It is hard to go into an in-depth discussion only based on the data collected from this questionnaire survey, and consequently,the findings from the survey can hardly present an accurate and comprehensive picture of the current state of IR development in the academic sector in China.Practical implications: The survey results provide essential foundation for CALIS IR project,and meanwhile the research can serve as a reference source for the future studies of the development of IRs at China's colleges and universities.Originality/value: It is the first national survey focused on the development of IRs in academic institutions in China.展开更多

文摘Since the age of digital intelligence,the government has introduced policies to actively promote the intelligent transformation of grassroots public cultural services.Based on the investigation and analysis of the development status quo of grassroots libraries in Henan Province,we put forward the path of high-quality development of grassroots libraries in Henan,namely,improving the mechanism and system,leading with digital intelligence technology,empowering by Yellow River culture(the heritage and values rooted in the history and traditions of the Yellow River region),and driven by users’demand.
文摘County-level libraries have an inescapable responsibility for cultivating local cultural identity and realizing rural revitalization.Therefore,we analyzed factors that afect the service fficiency of gass-1oots libraries in Henan Province through a field investigation and qualitative comparative analysis(QCA),and proposed a higlh-efficiency configuration.In addition,we put forward the strategy of improving the quality and efficiency of our country's county-level libraries in the electonic information age.

文摘To promote information service ability of digital libraries, a browsing and searching personalized recommendation framework based on the use of ontology is described, where the advantages of ontology are exploited in different parts of the retrieval cycle including query-based relevance measures, semantic user preference representation and automatic update, and personalized result ranking. Both the usage and information resources can be exploited to extract useful knowledge from the way users interact with a digital library. Through combination and mapping between the extracted knowledge and domain ontology, semantic content retrieval between queries and documents can be utilized. Furthermore, ontology-based conceptual vector of user preference can be applied in personalized recommendation feedback.

文摘High-density genetic markers are required for genotyping and linkage mapping in identifying genes from crops with complex genomes, such as barley. As the most common variation, single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) are suitable for accurate genotyping by using the next-generation sequencing(NGS) technology. Reduced representation libraries(RRLs) of five barley accessions and one mutant were sequenced using NGS technology for SNP discovery. Twenty million short reads were generated and the proportion of repetitive sequences was reduced by more than 56%. A total of 6061 SNPs were identified, and 451 were mapped to the draft sequence of the barley genome with pairing reads. Eleven SNPs were validated using length polymorphic allele-specific PCR markers.

文摘This study creates and combines the general maneuver libraries for fixed-wing aircraft to implement tactical maneuvers.First,the generalized maneuver libraries are established by analyzing the characteristics of tactical maneuvers required in battlefields.The 7th order polynomial is applied to both the creation of the maneuver libraries and the generation of the trajectories or flight paths for modal inputs.To track the desired trajectory,we design the Attitude Command Attitude Hold(ACAH)system and the Rate Command Rate Hold(RCRH)system using Model Following Controller(MFC).Moreover,the Line-of-Sight(LOS)guidance law is designed.In particular,the CONDUIT~?is employed to optimize the gains so that the control systems meet the aircraft Handling Qualities(HQ)criteria.Finally,flight simulations are performed for the longitudinal loop,immelmann-turn,and climb-slalom-descent maneuvers to verify that tactical aggressive maneuvers are realizable via the combination of maneuver libraries.This study can contribute to the development of flight techniques for aircraft tactical maneuvers and to the revision of air force operational manuals.
文摘This article is a case study of an innovative academic health sciences library initiative that describes the planning and events in the inaugural year of a new library research program. In response to emerging trends in health sciences libraries to increase research skills of librarians in order to foster expanded research integration within the health sciences disciplines,the University of Michigan Taubman Health Sciences Library established an EXPERT Research Initiative. This new program is part of the strategic planning for the future of the library and is focused on three primary goals： expanding the library＇s research portfolio,building librarians＇ research skills and competencies,and increasing the library＇s research visibility. The article highlights five library projects that illustrate the different kinds of research collaborations librarians are engaged in with health sciences faculty,researchers,clinicians,and students.
文摘Purpose: This study examines acknowledgments to libraries in the journal literature, as well as the efficacy of using Web of Science(WoS) to locate general acknowledgment text.Design/methodology/approach: This mixed-methods approach quantifies and characterizes acknowledgments to libraries in the journal literature. Using WoS's Funding Text field, the acknowledgments for six peer universities were identified and then characterized. The efficacy of using WoS to locate library acknowledgments was assessed by comparing the WoS Funding Text search results to the actual acknowledgment text found in the articles.Findings: Acknowledgments to libraries were found in articles at all six peer universities, though the absolute and relative numbers were quite low(< 0.5%). Most of the library acknowledgments were for resources(collections, funding, etc.), and many were concentrated in natural history(e.g. zoology). Examination of Texas A&M University zoology articles found that 91.7% of the funding information came from "acknowledgments" and not specifically a funding acknowledgment section. The WoS Funding Text search found 56% of the library acknowledgments compared to a search of the actual acknowledgment text in the articles.Research limitations: Limiting publications to journals, using a single truncated search term, and including only six research universities in the United States.Practical implications: This study examined library acknowledgments, but the same approach could be applied to searches of other keywords, institutions/organizations, individuals, etc. While not specifically designed to search general acknowledgments, WoS's Funding Text field can be used as an exploratory tool to search acknowledgments beyond funding. Originality/value: There are a few studies that have examined library acknowledgments in the scholarly literature, though to date none of those studies have examined the efficacy of using the WoS Funding Text field to locate those library acknowledgments within the journal literature.
文摘To objectively reflect the relevant situation of researches on think tank service of Chinese university libraries, this paper uses CNKI Database as the retrieval source, the bibliometric analysis method, and CiteSpace, a citation network analysis tool, to make quantitative analysis on the literature data of researches on the think tank service of university libraries;draw the knowledge map of literature authors, organization distribution, keyword co-occurrence, research hotspot distribution, etc.;objectively and comprehensively analyzes the hot topics and cutting-edge trends of researches on the think tank service of libraries, the research includes the following aspects: First, the status quo and orientation of the existing university library think tanks in China;second, it is recommended to carry out research on policy support and system guarantee for university library think tank services;third, integrate big data technology is merged into the construction of university libraries think tanks;fourth, the transformation of library and information institutions to new types of think tanks, including the transformation of knowledge services, disciplinary services, and characteristic think tanks, in order to provide reference for researches and practical work of think tank service of libraries in China.
文摘Purpose: China Academic Library & Information System(CALIS) planned to launch an institutional repository(IR) project to promote IR development and open access at colleges and universities in China. In order to get to know the current state of IRs in academic institutions, with the help of Peking University Library, CALIS Administrative Center conducted this survey.Design/methodology/approach: We conducted an online survey of CALIS member libraries.Findings: Firstly, the development of IRs at China's colleges and universities is still in its infancy. Secondly, the Chinese colleges and universities have reached a consensus on the objective for having an IR. Thirdly, they are having high expectations of IR functions. Fourthly,they prefer to establish a centralized IR system at a minimum cost. Finally, there are both similarities and differences between the Chinese academic institutions and their counterparts in other countries in the state of IR development.Research limitations: The questionnaire needs to be improved because there is a lack of enough questions for those who do not plan to build an IR. Comparatively lower rate of valid questionnaire return can affect the accuracy of the results. It is hard to go into an in-depth discussion only based on the data collected from this questionnaire survey, and consequently,the findings from the survey can hardly present an accurate and comprehensive picture of the current state of IR development in the academic sector in China.Practical implications: The survey results provide essential foundation for CALIS IR project,and meanwhile the research can serve as a reference source for the future studies of the development of IRs at China's colleges and universities.Originality/value: It is the first national survey focused on the development of IRs in academic institutions in China.
