The purpose of this scientific article is to investigate and analyse the inextricable link between politics and theatre,as well as their interdependence in social and political relations in the arena of African stage ...The purpose of this scientific article is to investigate and analyse the inextricable link between politics and theatre,as well as their interdependence in social and political relations in the arena of African stage play in the case of Andrew Buckland’s one-man show,which was performed on Thursday,August 15,2024 at the Market Theatre.As we know,in a particular country,without people,or more precisely,without actors who represent them in a theatrical performance,there are no history,politics,culture,theatre,and no political events in a certain time,space,and territory that we envision.Political events from the recent or distant past are often the subject of theatrical plays and art works in general.Such theatre develops into political theatre.The theatre can identify certain subjects in specific settings and solve their problems in their own way through performance,as well as critically explain and interpret them in terms of results,impacts,and repercussions.The writer of these articles observes the performance and immediately interviews the physical theatre performer Andrew Buckland in the backstage and analyses his performance on the topic of theater and politics correlations as a result from direct observation and audience position involvement.The research indicates the distinction between politics and theatre of one-man show of Andrew Buckland’s“The Ugly Noo Noo”in South Africa market theatre through the theory of Aristotle’s theatre and Brecht’s theatre,which is manifested in their different function and relationship to the state in political and theatre perspectives in depiction of“Identity,Identification,and Cultural Citizenship”.To assess the observed performance,the researcher relies on Aristotle’s and Brecht’s theatre theories.Aristotle’s theatre supports the existing state order as a divine order,but Brecht’s theatre destroys the state order through theatre.Brecht’s theatre transforms into a political theatre,with the goal of awakening and changing the audience’s consciousness,as well as converting it to an ideology that will contribute to the state.These and other theatre and political theories are used to analyze the aforementioned one-man show.In addition,the researcher of these articles uses primary and secondary datasets to define and question terms.To do so,the researcher employs a qualitative research methodology.After conducting an in-depth analysis of the dataset and observing the one-man show,the researcher discovered that Andrew Buckland’s one-man show“The Ugly Noo Noo”theatre depicts not only the past but also the present realities of South Africa and world politics by understanding and observing the very essence of politics,its true nature,and its true meaning.The research findings show that “The 2024 Ugly Noo Noo” is an impressed play that keeps its subversive thrust of the 80s but speaks to us now in this fractured world by narrating universal themes such as natural disasters, humanity and compassion, dreams and aspirations, isolation and connection, tradition vs. change of the world, freedom and oppression, courage and sacrifice, love and relationships, identity and self-discovery, power and corruption, conflict and resolution. He adds powerful and relatable components in his storytelling. As a result, Andrew Buckland’s “The Ugly Noo Noo” exemplifies theater’s power as a platform for political expression in Africa. The show pushes viewers to confront hard truths about identity and belonging in a fast changing world by delving into personal and societal concerns. As South Africa evolves, works like Buckland’s remind us of the long-standing importance of performance in shaping political conversation and promoting understanding.展开更多

Contextualizing the protagonist Leonard Marnham’s violence against the heat of the geopolitical struggles of the Cold War, this study traces his transformation from an innocent technician to a violent agent of political and sexual aggression, and reads his attempted rape of his German lover, Maria, as a nexus between personal relationships and geopolitical struggles. It highlights how Leonard’s violence is a reflection of and at the same time a product of the postwar political landscape. By drawing on the body politic of sexual violence, it analyzes the feminized representation of Leonard, arguing that Leonard is both a perpetrator as well as a victim of the postwar political struggles. Hence the conclusion that sexual violence is employed by the author as a trope to dramatize the invasion of the political onto the personal, and the novel is a political novel that illustrates how the entanglement of international politics and private life can lead to a profound distortion of personal relationships, where the dynamics of power, dominance, and submission that define the public sphere can seep into and corrupt even the most intimate aspect of human interaction.展开更多

Purpose:To explore the application effect of the cultivation mode of Curriculum Ideology and Political Integration of Medical Humanities to enhance the core values of medicine in the clinical internship stage of medic...Purpose:To explore the application effect of the cultivation mode of Curriculum Ideology and Political Integration of Medical Humanities to enhance the core values of medicine in the clinical internship stage of medical students.Methods:Students in the clinical internship stage of the First Affiliated Hospital of Baotou Medical College were selected,and a total of 156 students in one random class in each grade were taken as the observation group and received the integration cultivation mode;148 students were taken as the control group and employed the traditional mode.The teaching effect of interns in the two groups was analyzed.Results:The teaching performance of students in both groups after clinical internship teaching was improved compared with that before admission;the teaching performance,teaching effect,teaching evaluation,and teaching satisfaction of the observation group were higher than that of the control group.Conclusion:The integration of the medical humanities training model with curriculum ideology and politics in the clinical internship of medical students is conducive to the improvement of teaching performance,teaching evaluation,teaching satisfaction of teachers and students,and the development and improvement of core values of medical students,which is of good value for teaching application.展开更多

Focusing on investment security along the Belt and Road(B&R)routes,this study analyzes the geopolitical environment(GE)of countries(regions)along the B&R routes from two dimensions:political and business envir...Focusing on investment security along the Belt and Road(B&R)routes,this study analyzes the geopolitical environment(GE)of countries(regions)along the B&R routes from two dimensions:political and business environment(PBE)and political orientation.The results show that since the proposal of the B&R Initiative in 2013,the PBE of these countries(regions)has shown slight improvement but with significant spatial disparities,presenting a pattern of better conditions in the eastern and western regions and poorer conditions in the central regions.There is no strong spatial dependence in the PBE among these countries(regions),but a weak homogenization trend toward improvement is observed.Low-scoring countries(regions)are mainly located in former Commonwealth of Independent States(CIS),the Middle East,and the Indochina Peninsula.These countries(regions)exhibit weak interconnections,demonstrating a characteristic of“similarity without harmony.”(a Confucian concept describing nations sharing superficial traits but lacking substantive cooperation).Therefore,the B&R construction should adopt a clustered and contiguous breakthrough strategy.The evaluation of political orientation reveals significant political divergence among B&R countries(regions),with varying attitudes toward China.Moreover,as pro-China sentiment increases,the PBE tends to deteriorate.This negative correlation suggests that countries(regions)actively engaging in the B&R Initiative generally face political instability and economic underdevelopment,and seek to leverage the B&R Initiative for domestic growth.Consequently,while prioritizing investment security,it is important for the B&R construction to actively promote Chinese values in order to garner support and participation from countries(regions)with more favorable PBE.Given the generally underdeveloped PBE and political polarization among B&R countries(regions),China urgently needs to develop a geopolitical theory aligned with the B&R's geopolitical model to safeguard its advancement.Simultaneously,China should reshape geopolitical narratives to reclaim discourse power in political interpretation.This study provides preliminary insights into cross-country(regional)political polarization and contributes to advancing GE research.展开更多

文摘In recent years,the national higher education reform has proposed the concept of curriculum ideological and political education as a major element.This integration into the standardized training of general practice residents(commonly referred to as general resident training)is an unavoidable trend in the teaching field.Based on the actual situation of our unit at The First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Medical University,this paper emphasizes the necessity of incorporating ideological and political education into the general resident training curriculum,despite the absence of pertinent practical experience in how to effectively incorporate such courses into comprehensive residential training.In our hospital,we must assess the ideological and political education in the curriculum of general resident training,proposing a scientific,reasonable ideological and political education concept system for general practice courses,integrating ideological and political education with general practice resident training,and strengthening the team of ideological and political education physicians to teach them to carry out such education,this would foster enthusiasm and initiative.Strengthening admission education and training for general practice resident training,as well as regularly hosting symposiums to share ideas and understand the mission of doctors can provide effective experience for ideological and political education in general resident training courses.
文摘Under the background of“fostering character and civic virtue,”higher education must effectively integrate ideological and political education.The concept of curriculum ideology and politics has become increasingly developed and sophisticated,which can be a guiding concept for the teaching and reform practice of college students’employment guidance courses.Based on educational observation and logical analysis,this paper elaborates on the connotation of the concept of curriculum ideology and politics,analyzes the key points of the reform of college students’employment guidance courses under this concept,and affirms the value of course reform.On this basis,this paper specifically analyzes the common problems in the reform of the employment guidance course under the new concept and makes a detailed interpretation of the performance problems such as the vague course objectives and the lack of innovation in the course teaching methods.Combined with the relevant problems,this paper proposes strategies such as building the course objective system by linking the curriculum ideology and politics,and driving the teaching innovation of the course from multiple perspectives,aiming to provide more references for the corresponding course reform.
文摘The purpose of this scientific article is to investigate and analyse the inextricable link between politics and theatre,as well as their interdependence in social and political relations in the arena of African stage play in the case of Andrew Buckland’s one-man show,which was performed on Thursday,August 15,2024 at the Market Theatre.As we know,in a particular country,without people,or more precisely,without actors who represent them in a theatrical performance,there are no history,politics,culture,theatre,and no political events in a certain time,space,and territory that we envision.Political events from the recent or distant past are often the subject of theatrical plays and art works in general.Such theatre develops into political theatre.The theatre can identify certain subjects in specific settings and solve their problems in their own way through performance,as well as critically explain and interpret them in terms of results,impacts,and repercussions.The writer of these articles observes the performance and immediately interviews the physical theatre performer Andrew Buckland in the backstage and analyses his performance on the topic of theater and politics correlations as a result from direct observation and audience position involvement.The research indicates the distinction between politics and theatre of one-man show of Andrew Buckland’s“The Ugly Noo Noo”in South Africa market theatre through the theory of Aristotle’s theatre and Brecht’s theatre,which is manifested in their different function and relationship to the state in political and theatre perspectives in depiction of“Identity,Identification,and Cultural Citizenship”.To assess the observed performance,the researcher relies on Aristotle’s and Brecht’s theatre theories.Aristotle’s theatre supports the existing state order as a divine order,but Brecht’s theatre destroys the state order through theatre.Brecht’s theatre transforms into a political theatre,with the goal of awakening and changing the audience’s consciousness,as well as converting it to an ideology that will contribute to the state.These and other theatre and political theories are used to analyze the aforementioned one-man show.In addition,the researcher of these articles uses primary and secondary datasets to define and question terms.To do so,the researcher employs a qualitative research methodology.After conducting an in-depth analysis of the dataset and observing the one-man show,the researcher discovered that Andrew Buckland’s one-man show“The Ugly Noo Noo”theatre depicts not only the past but also the present realities of South Africa and world politics by understanding and observing the very essence of politics,its true nature,and its true meaning.The research findings show that “The 2024 Ugly Noo Noo” is an impressed play that keeps its subversive thrust of the 80s but speaks to us now in this fractured world by narrating universal themes such as natural disasters, humanity and compassion, dreams and aspirations, isolation and connection, tradition vs. change of the world, freedom and oppression, courage and sacrifice, love and relationships, identity and self-discovery, power and corruption, conflict and resolution. He adds powerful and relatable components in his storytelling. As a result, Andrew Buckland’s “The Ugly Noo Noo” exemplifies theater’s power as a platform for political expression in Africa. The show pushes viewers to confront hard truths about identity and belonging in a fast changing world by delving into personal and societal concerns. As South Africa evolves, works like Buckland’s remind us of the long-standing importance of performance in shaping political conversation and promoting understanding.

文摘This paper examines the role of sexual violence in Ian McEwan’s novel The Innocent and its relationship to the author’s examination of the boundary between the political and the personal. Contextualizing the protagonist Leonard Marnham’s violence against the heat of the geopolitical struggles of the Cold War, this study traces his transformation from an innocent technician to a violent agent of political and sexual aggression, and reads his attempted rape of his German lover, Maria, as a nexus between personal relationships and geopolitical struggles. It highlights how Leonard’s violence is a reflection of and at the same time a product of the postwar political landscape. By drawing on the body politic of sexual violence, it analyzes the feminized representation of Leonard, arguing that Leonard is both a perpetrator as well as a victim of the postwar political struggles. Hence the conclusion that sexual violence is employed by the author as a trope to dramatize the invasion of the political onto the personal, and the novel is a political novel that illustrates how the entanglement of international politics and private life can lead to a profound distortion of personal relationships, where the dynamics of power, dominance, and submission that define the public sphere can seep into and corrupt even the most intimate aspect of human interaction.

文摘Basic medicine is the foundation of basic knowledge of medical science,life science,and natural science,and is the basis for training medical talents.It can help students correctly understand the relationship between disease and health,and is of great significance under the perspective of the Healthy China strategy.However,there are still some deficiencies in the current teaching,and insufficient attention has been paid to civics and politics.Thus,it is necessary to carry out curriculum reform in order to enable students to better understand medical knowledge and master medical skills,to ensure the development of medical education,and to play an important role in basic medicine.This study combines the necessity of curriculum reform under the perspective of civics and politics and puts forward a teaching reform strategy suitable for the development of contemporary medicine to provide a direction for the educational development of basic medicine.

文摘The veterinary microbiology teaching team thoroughly implements the national education policy,and iteratively promotes the implementation of the teaching reform of Sanquan education.The teaching team is focused on a“student-centered”approach to education,emphasizing the foundation of“cultivating people and nurturing the root and soul of the nation.”By integrating“knowledge exploration,skill training,and value shaping”into the talent training plan,they are reshaping curriculum objectives and emphasizing ideological education in the syllabus.The teaching content system is being reconstructed,combining multiple interactions of blended teaching with the“six-in-one”ideological education model,to achieve the educational goals of the new agricultural“in-class-extracurricular”approach.This effort provides an empirical basis for the ideological and political teaching reform of the veterinary microbiology curriculum.

文摘Purpose:To explore the application effect of the cultivation mode of Curriculum Ideology and Political Integration of Medical Humanities to enhance the core values of medicine in the clinical internship stage of medical students.Methods:Students in the clinical internship stage of the First Affiliated Hospital of Baotou Medical College were selected,and a total of 156 students in one random class in each grade were taken as the observation group and received the integration cultivation mode;148 students were taken as the control group and employed the traditional mode.The teaching effect of interns in the two groups was analyzed.Results:The teaching performance of students in both groups after clinical internship teaching was improved compared with that before admission;the teaching performance,teaching effect,teaching evaluation,and teaching satisfaction of the observation group were higher than that of the control group.Conclusion:The integration of the medical humanities training model with curriculum ideology and politics in the clinical internship of medical students is conducive to the improvement of teaching performance,teaching evaluation,teaching satisfaction of teachers and students,and the development and improvement of core values of medical students,which is of good value for teaching application.

文摘Currently,the century-long transformation is accelerating,nationalism,populism,and conservatism are interacting and surging,posing multiple challenges to international security.Based on sorting out the evolutionary logic and latest trends of these three ideological trends,this paper systematically analyzes their impacts on national sovereignty,multi-ethnic communities,and global governance,then proposes a systematic design for the ideological and political education in international security courses.Specifically,it includes:deepening the theoretical teaching system;innovating practical teaching carriers;strengthening the dimension of value guidance;and promoting interdisciplinary integrated teaching.This aims to provide a replicable and promotable paradigm for universities to build an international security course system and cultivate students with both theoretical research and governance capabilities.

文摘Focusing on investment security along the Belt and Road(B&R)routes,this study analyzes the geopolitical environment(GE)of countries(regions)along the B&R routes from two dimensions:political and business environment(PBE)and political orientation.The results show that since the proposal of the B&R Initiative in 2013,the PBE of these countries(regions)has shown slight improvement but with significant spatial disparities,presenting a pattern of better conditions in the eastern and western regions and poorer conditions in the central regions.There is no strong spatial dependence in the PBE among these countries(regions),but a weak homogenization trend toward improvement is observed.Low-scoring countries(regions)are mainly located in former Commonwealth of Independent States(CIS),the Middle East,and the Indochina Peninsula.These countries(regions)exhibit weak interconnections,demonstrating a characteristic of“similarity without harmony.”(a Confucian concept describing nations sharing superficial traits but lacking substantive cooperation).Therefore,the B&R construction should adopt a clustered and contiguous breakthrough strategy.The evaluation of political orientation reveals significant political divergence among B&R countries(regions),with varying attitudes toward China.Moreover,as pro-China sentiment increases,the PBE tends to deteriorate.This negative correlation suggests that countries(regions)actively engaging in the B&R Initiative generally face political instability and economic underdevelopment,and seek to leverage the B&R Initiative for domestic growth.Consequently,while prioritizing investment security,it is important for the B&R construction to actively promote Chinese values in order to garner support and participation from countries(regions)with more favorable PBE.Given the generally underdeveloped PBE and political polarization among B&R countries(regions),China urgently needs to develop a geopolitical theory aligned with the B&R's geopolitical model to safeguard its advancement.Simultaneously,China should reshape geopolitical narratives to reclaim discourse power in political interpretation.This study provides preliminary insights into cross-country(regional)political polarization and contributes to advancing GE research.
