To ensure the safety of the PFCs, various kinds of nondestructive testing (NDT) techniques are needed for different defect and failure mode. This paper gives a review of the recently developed ultrasonic testing (UT) and laser thermography methods for inspection of the delamination and surface cracks in PFCs. For monoblock W/Cu PFCs of divertor, the bonding quality at both W-Cu and Cu- CuCrZr interfaces was qualified by using UT with a focus probe during manufacturing. A noncontact, coupling-free and flexible ultrasonic scanning testing system with use of an electromagnetic acoustic transducer and a robotic inspection manipulator was introduced then for the in-vessel inspection of delamination defect in first wall (FW). A laser infrared thermography testing method is highlighted for the on-line inspection of delamination defect in FW through the vacuum vessel window of the Tokamak reactor. Finally, a new laser spot thermography method using laser spot array source was described for the online inspection of the surface cracks in FW.展开更多

However, the controlled plant is nonlinear, time-varying and uncertainty when implementing the laser-based heat flux simulation. In this paper, a novel intelligent adaptive controller based on proportion-integration-differentiation (PID) type fuzzy logic is proposed to improve the performance of laser-based ground thermal test. The temperature range of thermal cycles is more than 200 K in many instances. In order to improve the adaptability of controller, output scaling factors are real time adjusted while the thermal test is underway. The initial values of scaling factors are optimized using a stochastic hybrid particle swarm optimization (H-PSO) algorithm. A validating system has been established in the laboratory. The performance of the proposed controller is evaluated through extensive experiments under different operating conditions (reference and load disturbance). The results show that the proposed adaptive controller performs remarkably better compared to the conventional PID (PID) controller and the conventional PID type fuzzy (F-PID) controller considering performance indicators of overshoot, settling time and steady state error for laser-based ground thermal test. It is a reliable tool for effective temperature control of laser-based ground thermal test. (C) 2016 Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Production and hosting by Elsevier Ltd. However, the results can not be considered as an accurate description to temperature characteristic. This passage puts forward a concept of relaxation time in wavelength texts, mainly based on the experiment of 940 nm strain quantum well laser, confirming that under constant current, wavelength will get through a process of rising, and then, reach the limit. This process brings the effect on spectral characteristics of a device which cannot be ignored and the accumulated heat in relaxation time will gradually impact the emission wavelength of the laser, even crest split to form bimodal phenomenon.展开更多

It manifested as inattention/ignorance within the temporal visual space (“visual blocking”) at monocular visual acuity testing. Moreover, in 3 out of the 4, the process of reading a text appeared cognitively impaired. Methods: As a supplement to conventional visual field testing, the present analysis focus was on microperimetry by Scanning Laser Ophthalmocopy (SLO). Our aim was to identify the perceptual retinal counterparts to the temporally located visual field defects as caused by the visual pathway lesion on a chiasmal level, possibly also to indicate the apparently ineffective saccadic movements underlying that only part of the line on the chart could be given. Results and Conclusions: The central retinal areas with lacking recognition by SLO testing were given by black rectangles expressing scotomatous points;they clustered in a zone extending nasally from the fixation area, as expected. The methodology further depicted an orderly fixation in two cases, and only minor deviation in two. Fixation saccades thus were considered by and large within normal and with only exceptional outlier points recorded. All considered, the shortcomings of the perceptual mechanisms underlying the lateralised visual inattention as observed in the four patients have remained without a satisfactory explanation.展开更多

Transient signal characteristics of a 0.18-p.m single MOS device, such as SET pulse width, pulse maximum, and collected charge, are measured and an- alyzed at wafer level. We analyze in detail the influences of supply voltage and pulse energy on the SET characteristics of the device under test (DUT). The dependences of SET characteristics on drain-induced barrier lowering (DIBL) and the parasitic bipolar junction transistor (PBJT) are also discussed. The drag strut was re-melted with a CO_2 laser beam. Eight re-melted paths were made in the form of spiral lines along the axis of the drag strut. Next, the drag strut was subjected to variable loads on a testing machine simulating loads occurring when an aircraft lands. The fatigue test showed that the laser-treated drag strut was able to withstand 1700 simulated cycles of landing. This result was 70% better than that obtained for a drag strut with no laser treatment. In order to find the reason for the increase in the number of cycles of simulated landings, tests were carried out using transmission and scanning electron microscopes, a computer microtomograph, an X-ray diffractometer, and a nanoindenter, respectively. Results of the conducted research indicated that the reasons for the increased fatigue life of the laser-treated undercarriage drag strut were both an ultra-fine cellular martensitic microstructure and compressing residual stresses generated during the laser re-melting of the surface layer of the material.展开更多

The application of pulse shaping in laser cladding with wire to avoid the solidification problems in relevant steel is demonstrated. The results show that sound remelting and/or cladding can be achieved by the right selection of laser parameters and pulse shape, i.e. long pulse duration, moderate pulse peak powers and ramped-down pulse shape. Despite the defects and softening in the cladding due to the formation of retained austenite, the cladding shows better wear resistance at lower loads compared to the heat-treated base material.展开更多

Major problems with the packaging process include degraded reliability caused by the excess stress due to thermal mismatch and altered performance of the MEMS device after packaging caused by thermal exposure. The localized laser bonding technique for ceramic MEMS packaging to address above-mentioned challenges was investigated. A continuous wave CO2 laser was used to locally heat sealing material for ceramic MEMS package lid to substrate bonding. To determine the laser power density and scanning speed, finite element analysis thermal models were constructed to simulate the localized laser bonding process. Further, the effect of external pressure at sealing ring on the bonding formation was studied. Pull testing results show that the scanning speed and external pressure have significant influence on the pull strength at the bonding interface. Cross-sectional microscopy of the bonding interface indicates that the packages bonded with relatively low scanning speed and external pressure conditions have higher bonding quality. This research demonstrates the potential of localized laser bonding process for ceramic MEMS packaging.展开更多
