Our research findings show that China's current IL standards of high schools contain a disproportionate emphasis on information technology(IT). Moreover, the stipulations of these IL standards are narrowly construed and without being solidly grounded on a broad and comprehensive educational perspective. We also suggest that there are two underlying causes for this set of unsound IL standards in China.Firstly, there is a lack of collaboration between two major competing forces engaged in the curricular development and research of IL in China: Those professionals in educational IT discipline vis-à-vis those in Library and Information Science. Secondly, library professionals have a very limited influence on major socio-cultural policies, even at their own institutions. As a result, this paper recommends the following three possible measures, which may help remedy this situation strategically: 1) Establishing a set of new IL curriculum standards based on an IL-centered educational perspective; 2) establishing a teacher-librarian's training program to promote school librarians' role in IL education; and 3) strengthening the research and development of an online IL education program and an accompanied evaluation mechanism.展开更多

文摘BACKGROUND Frailty has become a significant public health issue. The recent increase in the number of frail older adults has led to increased attention being paid to psycho-logical care services in communities. The social isolation of pre-frail older adults can impact their psychological distress.AIM To explore the mediating effect of health literacy between social isolation and psychological distress among communitydwelling older adults with pre-frailty.METHODS This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with 254 pre-frail older individuals aged 60 years and over.Social isolation, health literacy, and psycholo-gical distress were comprehensively measured using the Lubben Social Network Scale-6,12-item Short-Form Health Literacy Questionnaire, and the Kessler Psy-chological Distress Scale-10.Data were evaluated using the SPSS 27.0 package program and the PROCESS macro tool.Descriptive statistical analyses, correlation analyses, and bootstrap mediation tests were used to assess associations between the variables.RESULTS The results showed that social isolation had an effect on health literacy among pre-frail older adults(β=0.240,P<0.001),social isolation impact on psycho-logical distress pre-frail older adults(β=-0.415,P<0.001);health literacy was identified effect on psychological distress among pre-frail older persons(β=-0.307,P<0.001).Health literacy partially mediated the relationship between social isolation and psychological distress among community-dwelling older adults with pre-frailty,with a mediation effect of-0.074,accounting for 17.83%of the total effect.
文摘Our study aims to take a closer look at China's current information literacy(IL) program standards at secondary schools and to analyze their level of success and/or failures in a comparative way with those of the United States in terms of fulfilling their each other's mission-oriented mandates. As a result, this paper recommends the following three possible measures, which may help remedy this situation strategically: 1) Establishing a set of new IL curriculum standards based on an IL-centered educational perspective; 2) establishing a teacher-librarian's training program to promote school librarians' role in IL education; and 3) strengthening the research and development of an online IL education program and an accompanied evaluation mechanism.
文摘BACKGROUND Given their responsibility for the well-being of individuals, nurses with advanced mental health literacy, along with strong holistic nursing competencies and professional self-efficacy,are better equipped to assess both the mental and physical health of their patients, leading to the provision of holistic nursing care.AIM To investigate the relationship between nurses’mental health literacy levels and their holistic nursing competencies,as well as their nursing professional selfefficacy.METHODS This study is cross-sectional,correlational research. The study sample consisted of a total of 261 volunteer nurses working in a training and research hospital and a state hospital between March 11,2024 and April 8,2024.Data were collected face to face with the“Descriptive Data Form”,“Mental Health Literacy Scale(MHLS)”,“Holistic Nursing Competence Scale(HNCS)”,and the“Nursing Profession Self-Efficacy Scale(NPSES)”.RESULTS The mean scale scores for the nurses were as follows:MHLS:95.88±11.67;HNCS:179.46±33.82;NPSES:64.79±11.24.A low-level positive correlation was found between the total scores of the MHLS,HNCS,and NPSES,and a moderate-level positive correlation was observed between the total scores of the HNCS and NPSES.These correlations were statistically significant(P<0.05).CONCLUSION It is recommended that initiatives be undertaken to enhance the mental health literacy and holistic nursing competencies of nurses and that similar studies be conducted with nurses in different institutions and with a larger number of nurses.

文摘Treatment adherence among people living with human immunodeficiency virus(PLWH)is a critical determinant of viral suppression and improved quality of life.Medication literacy,as a key factor influencing adherence,is itself shaped by various psychosocial variables.Existing studies suggest that human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)-related stigma,self-efficacy,and trust in healthcare providers serve as significant mediators in the relationship between health literacy and treatment adherence. This review systematically explores how medication literacy affects treatment adherence in PLWH through intermediary psychosocial mechanisms such as depression, anxiety, and social support.By synthesizing current evidence,we aim to inform the development of targeted psychosocial interventions to enhance treatment outcomes and quality of life for this population. Our findings provide an evidence-based foundation for nursing practice and support innovative strategies in comprehensive HIV care.
文摘With the rise of data-intensive research, data literacy has become a critical capability for improving scientific data quality and achieving artificial intelligence(AI)readiness. In the biomedical domain, data are characterized by high complexity and privacy sensitivity, calling for robust and systematic data management skills. This paper reviews current trends in scientific data governance and the evolving policy landscape, highlighting persistent challenges such as inconsistent standards, semantic misalignment, and limited awareness of compliance. These issues are largely rooted in the lack of structured training and practical support for researchers. In response, this study builds on existing data literacy frameworks and integrates the specific demands of biomedical research to propose a comprehensive,lifecycle-oriented data literacy competency model with an emphasis on ethics and regulatory awareness.Furthermore,it outlines a tiered training strategy tailored to different research stages—undergraduate, graduate, and professional, offering theoretical foundations and practical pathways for universities and research institutions to advance data literacy education.
文摘BACKGROUND Organ donation and transplantation are vital for saving lives, yet awareness remains limited.Health literacy, the ability to understand and use health information, and self-control,which influences decision-making,are crucial factors in promoting awareness.Understanding their relationship can guide efforts to increase participation in organ donation.AIM To investigate the effect of health literacy on organ donation and transplantation awareness, with self-control acting as a mediator, and to emphasize its importance.METHODS The study comprised 345 adults recruited from five different cities in Türkiye. The sample included 208 women(60.29%)and 137 men(39.71%).The age range of the sample group varies between 18 and 49(median age=24.13;SD=8.81).Selfreport data were collected including psychometric measures assessing organ donation and transplantation awareness, health literacy, and self-control.Reliability analysis, descriptive statistics, correlational analysis, and mediational analysis of the data were carried.RESULTS The analysis showed that health literacy was positively correlated with organ donation and transplantation awareness(r=0.340)and self-control(r=0.376).Self-control was positively related to organ donation and transplantation awareness(r=0.531).Mediating analysis supported a mediation model where health literacy was found to influence organ donation and transplantation awareness via self-control(bootstrap=0.158,95%confidence interval=0.105-0.215).CONCLUSION The results indicate that self-control mediates the positive relationship between health literacy and organ donation and transplantation awareness.Enhancing individuals’health literacy may therefore increase awareness of organ donation and transplantation through improvements in self-control.
文摘Subjective well-being is a key indicator of quality of life and a crucial factor for successful aging among older adults. However, few studies have explored the subjective well-being among older adults from the perspective of digital literacy. Therefore, this study explores the relationship between digital literacy and subjective well-being using data on 4270 older adults from the 2020 China Family Panel Studies(CFPS)dataset.PROCESS mediation analysis results indicated digital literacy is associated with higher subjective well-being among the older adults.Digital literacy was associated with the frequency of physical exercise and consumption. Moreover,Digital literacy can also enhance the subjective well-being among older adults by increasing the frequency of physical exercise, and consumption, and a chain mediator subjective well-being.These findings align with the theoretical framework of digital health literacy.Theory which posits that health information obtained through digital literacy can help older adults better engage in healthy lifestyles, thereby enhancing their quality of life. These findings hold significant practical implications for enhancing the subjective well-being among older adults and advancing the development of successful aging.
