LiSBOA:Enhancing LiDAR-Based Wind Turbine Wake and Turbulence Characterization in Complex Terrain

The Light Detection and Ranging(LiDAR)data analysis method has emerged as a powerful and versatile tool for characterizing atmospheric conditions and modeling light propagation through various media.In the context of renewable energy,particularly wind energy,LiDAR is increasingly utilized to analyze wind flow,turbine wake effects,and turbulence in complex terrains.This study focuses on advancing LiDAR data interpretation through the development and application of the LiDAR Statistical Barnes Objective Analysis(LiSBOA)method.LiSBOA enhances the capacity of scanning LiDAR systems by enabling more precise optimization of scan configurations and improving the retrieval of wind statistics across Cartesian grids.Unlike conventional approaches,LiSBOA offers fine-grained control over azimuthal resolution and spatial filtering,which allows for the detailed reconstruction of wind fields and turbulence structures.These capabilities are crucial for accurately simulating wind turbine wakes and power capture,particularly in environments with variable atmospheric stability and complex topography.Field deployments and comparative assessments against traditional meteorological mast data demonstrate the effectiveness of LiSBOA.The method reduces wind velocity estimation errors to within 3%and increases the accuracy of turbulence intensity measurements by over 4%.Such improvements are significant for enhancing wind resource assessment,optimizing turbine placement,and refining control strategies for operational turbines.LiSBOA represents a robust advancement in LiDAR data processing for wind energy applications.By addressing limitations in spatial resolution and measurement uncertainty,it supports more reliable modeling of wake interactions and flow variability.This work contributes to improving the efficiency and reliability of wind energy systems through advanced remote sensing and statistical analysis techniques. 展开更多

The aim of this research was to knowing if it would improve the shelf life of the lemons that were stored in hermetically polystyrene containers closed, as same that were placed in a refrigerated chamber with temperature of 10°C inside, high relative humidity (85%) and renovation of the air by action of the compressor of the chamber. Lemons cv “Lisboa” were cut directly from the orchard and washed with chlorinated water at 150 mg&sdot;L&minus;1 sodium hypochlorite. The study variables were the color of the epicarp (shell) and the endocarp (pulp), polar and equatorial diameter, firmness of the pulp and total soluble solids concentration (°Brix) in the endocarp. The tone and purity of the yellow color of the shell (epicarp) and pulp or endocarp of the oranges increased significantly within polystyrene containers and, consequently, its quality was preserved and its shelf life was extended to more than 100 days without that they have symptoms of deterioration, by losses polar and equatorial diameter or decrease in total soluble solids. Inside closed containers polystyrene the temperature decreased to 2.0°C in the refrigerated chamber, so that the principle of thermal insulation polystyrene reaffirmed, and its functionality for packaging products, such as fruits, resolve some of their physiological problems themselves, to prolong its shelf life and improve its presentation. 展开更多

On 1920, Brito Pais and Sarmento Beires tried an unsuccessful flight attempt from Amadora, Lisbon to Madeira Island onboard an airplane Breguet XIV A2, named “Cavaleiro Negro”. Despite the scarce means of navigation both navigators managed to reach Madeira, which failed to land due to dense fog. On their way back after 8 hours of flight time, they alight at the Atlantic Ocean for lack of fuel and were rescued at about 500 km from Lisbon. On 1922, Gago Coutinho and Sacadura Cabral conducted the First Aerial Cross of the South Atlantic, flying from Lisbon to Rio de Janeiro. The Portuguese Aeronautics rejoiced auspicious days that time, with its aviation pioneers trying consecutively to reach more distant places along intercontinental flights. On 1923, Gago Coutinho and Sacadura Cabral were contemplating to perform an Around the World Flight. However, Sacadura died in 1924, while piloting an airplane acquired for the circumnavigation voyage. Later on 1924 the pilots Brito Pais and Sarmento Beires idealized the conducting of an aerial flight from Lisbon to Macao as an aspiration for a future Portuguese Around the World Flight attempt: on 7 April 1924, those pilots departed from Vila Nova de Milfontes in a Breguet XIV Bn2 airplane, starting their Journey to Macao. During a flight stage on 7 May an engine failure forced them to crash the airplane at India;on 30 May, both pilots managed to continue the Voyage in a De Havilland DH9 aircraft before being forced to end their attempt in 20 June in flying over Macao. A typhoon hindered their efforts to land and the airplane was crash landed in Chinese Territory about 800 meters from the Hong Kong Border. On 25 June 1924, they were shuttled back to Macao by boat. Brito Pais, Sarmento Beires and Manuel Gouveia returned to Portugal, via North America, visiting several Portugueses nuclei at China, Japan, United States and England. They went to Portugal on 9 September, after having flown a total of 16,760 km in 117:41 h facing often extremely adverse atmospheric conditions, sandstorms and inaccurate navigation maps. 展开更多
