In this study,the advanced machine learning algorithm NESTORE(Next Strong Related Earthquake)was applied to the Japan Meteorological Agency catalog(1973-2024).It calculates the probability that the aftershocks will re...In this study,the advanced machine learning algorithm NESTORE(Next Strong Related Earthquake)was applied to the Japan Meteorological Agency catalog(1973-2024).It calculates the probability that the aftershocks will reach or exceed a magnitude equal to the magnitude of the mainshock minus one and classifies the clusters as type A or type B,depending on whether this condition is met or not.It has been shown useful in the tests in Italy,western Slovenia,Greece,and California.Due to Japan’s high and complex seismic activity,new algorithms were developed to complement NESTORE:a hybrid cluster identification method,which uses both ETAS-based stochastic declustering and deterministic graph-based selection,and REPENESE(RElevant features,class imbalance PErcentage,NEighbour detection,SElection),an algorithm for detecting outliers in skewed class distributions,which takes in account if one class has a larger number of samples with respect to the other(class imbalance).Trained with data from 1973 to 2004(7 type A and 43 type B clusters)and tested from 2005 to 2023(4 type A and 27 type B clusters),the method correctly forecasted 75%of A clusters and 96%of B clusters,achieving a precision of 0.75 and an accuracy of 0.94 six hours after the mainshock.It accurately classified the 2011 Tōhoku event cluster.Near-real-time forecasting was applied to the sequence after the April 17,2024 M6.6 earthquake in Shikoku,correctly classifying it as a“Type B cluster”.These results highlight the potential for the forecasting of strong aftershocks in regions with high seismicity and class imbalance,as evidenced by the high recall,precision and accuracy values achieved in the test phase.展开更多

This study identified the relationship between tropical cyclone(TC)activity and extreme Pacific–Japan(PJ)teleconnection patterns in August and September.In the East China Sea(ECS)and Mariana Islands(MI)regions,where ...This study identified the relationship between tropical cyclone(TC)activity and extreme Pacific–Japan(PJ)teleconnection patterns in August and September.In the East China Sea(ECS)and Mariana Islands(MI)regions,where the edge of the western North Pacific subtropical high(WNPSH)is located,approximately 60%–75%of TCs migrate to Far East Asian countries.A significant positive correlation existed between the frequency of northward migration of TCs and PJ patterns,since the TC frequency in the ECS and MI regions was significantly higher in the positive compared with the negative phase.In the positive phase,the main reason for the large number of TCs occurring was the monsoon trough’s location and strength.The strong and northeastward-shifted monsoon trough in the positive phase leads to more TCs in the ECS and MI regions.Other large-scale environments associated with TC formation also favored TC genesis around the ECS and MI regions.The higher PDI(power dissipation index)during the positive PJ phase can potentially lead to significant impacts in the Far East Asian countries.These characteristics were particularly more notable in August compared with September.展开更多
The aging and declining birthrate is a common challenge faced by many countries in the world today,especially those with relatively developed economies.As close neighbors in East Asia,Japan and China are particularly ...The aging and declining birthrate is a common challenge faced by many countries in the world today,especially those with relatively developed economies.As close neighbors in East Asia,Japan and China are particularly prominent in this issue.Japan is one of the countries with the highest degree of aging globally,and its process is characterized by“getting rich first and aging later”;while China is known for its“aging before getting rich”and its ultra-large elderly population,and is experiencing a similar demographic transition at a faster pace.This paper aims to systematically compare the current characteristics of aging and declining birthrate issues in China and Japan,and deeply analyze the similarities and differences in the underlying economic,social,and cultural reasons.The study finds that the two countries are similar in overall trends such as low fertility rates and inverted population structures,but there are significant differences in the timing of the problem’s outbreak,its severity,and specific causes.Japan’s predicament is rooted in its long-term economic stagnation,mature welfare social system,and profound individualization trend;while China’s challenges are closely related to unique family planning policies,rapid socioeconomic changes,and significant urban-rural regional differences,as well as the deep penetration of the declining birthrate phenomenon from urban to rural areas,and the accelerated disintegration of traditional fertility concepts.展开更多

Methods Japan, South Korea, the USA and Australia were selected as the representative countries. The standards language were limited to English, Japanese and South Korean. The websites of the national standards bodies and the official websites for the acupuncture association/ institute of these four countries were searched systematically. The laws of acupuncture were included in the study. Results Technical standards made up the most of the standard system for acupuncture in Japan, basic standards accounted for the most of the system in South Korea, while management standards accounted for the largest proportion of acupuncture standard systems in the USA and Australia. Conclusion Japan and South Korea, which use acupuncture mainly due to cultural and historical influences, place emphasis on establishing technical and basic standards. Using the single- epoch precise point positioning (PPP) method an...Crustal deformation can provide constraints for studying earthquake rupture and shock wave transmission for the Mw9.0 eastern Japan great earthquake. Using the single- epoch precise point positioning (PPP) method and the appropriate positioning flow, we process GPS data from six IGS (International GNSS Service) sites (e.g., MIZU, TSK2, USUD, MTKA, AIRA and KSMV) located in Japan and obtain the positioning results with centimeter scale precision. The displacement time series of the six sites are analyzed using the least squares spectral analysis method to estimate deformations caused by the Mw9.0 mainshock and the Mw7.9 aftershock, and the cumulative displacements after 1 day. Mainshock displacements at station MIZU, the nearest site to the mainshock in the North (N), East (E), and Up (U) directions, are -1.202 m, 2.180 m and -0.104 m, respectively, and the cumulative deformations after 1 day are -1.117 m, 2.071 m and -0.072 m, respectively. The displacements at station KSMV, the nearest site to the Mw7.9 aftershock in the N, E and U directions, are -0.032 m, 0.742 m and -0.345 m, respectively. The other sites obviously experienced eastern movements and subsidence. The deformation vectors indicate that the horizontal displacements caused by the earthquake point to the epicenter and rupture. Elastic bounds evidently took place at all sites. The results indicate that the crustal movements and earthquake were part of a megathrust caused by the Pacific Plate sinking under the North American Plate to the northeast of Japan island arc.展开更多

In response to the crisis, Japan made a brief policy adjustment—from the initial hesitation to the imposition of active sanctions and pressure on Russia—to reverse the passive situation on the issue of the Four Northern Islands and weaken Russia’s strength. Japanese clinical engineer(CE) is a significant and unique profession compared with other nations with its dual clinical and technology focus and national licensing. The CE system of licensing was established in May 1...Japanese clinical engineer(CE) is a significant and unique profession compared with other nations with its dual clinical and technology focus and national licensing. The CE system of licensing was established in May 1987 under the Clinical Engineers Act. CEs are required to complete 3 to 4 years in designated schools and pass a national examination. It is a professional medical position responsible for the operation and maintenance of life-support and non-life-support medical device systems under the direction of physicians. Currently approximately 70 educational institutes- including technical colleges and universities- provide diverse and wide-ranging curricula from engineering to various clinical disciplines to produce CEs. Since clinical practice training is mandatory as a part of institute work, an important approach for CEs is gained by working in hospitals. The comprehensive curricula and the licensing system in Japan together serve to keep the appropriate quantity and quality of CEs. The Japan Association for Clinical Engineers(JACE) was established in February 1990; one of its aims is to support improvement of CEs throughout their careers through various lectures, seminars, on-the-job trainings, workshops, and an annual member meeting. New CEs can now take advantage of video e-learning. For junior CEs, there are seminars for hyperbaric oxygen therapy, blood purification, heart-lung bypass, respiratory therapy, operating room, intensive care unit, arrhythmia and aphaeresis related devices, as well as healthcare technology management(HTM). Also, the institutes provide a leadership seminar alongside this clinical practice training. Besides the licensing process, a proper certification system for CEs is a critical element in the clinical field. This enhances the ability of CEs to engage in more extensive duties and develop specialties, as well as to provide better healthcare. Associated societies provide certification with technology qualifications in dialysis, extracorporeal circulation, respiratory therapy, clinical medical devices, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and aphaeresis treatment. JACE also launched a unique certification system in 2010, with specializations in blood purification, arrhythmia, respiratory, and hyperbaric oxygen care. What is the difference between certification by the associated societies and that offered by JACE? Certification by the associated societies provides basic knowledge to pass specialty examinations. Certifications by JACE promote deeper knowledge to enhance clinical decisionmaking and to encourage wider experience. JACE also continues to investigate other certifications. In summary, Japan has introduced a national licensing system for keeping an intake of constant quality and quantity of CEs. Additionally, ongoing workshops and seminars stimulate in-depth knowledge and a higher level of medical care for patients. Together, a system of lifelong education for CEs has been built.展开更多

文摘Japanese clinical engineer(CE) is a significant and unique profession compared with other nations with its dual clinical and technology focus and national licensing. The CE system of licensing was established in May 1987 under the Clinical Engineers Act. CEs are required to complete 3 to 4 years in designated schools and pass a national examination. It is a professional medical position responsible for the operation and maintenance of life-support and non-life-support medical device systems under the direction of physicians. Currently approximately 70 educational institutes- including technical colleges and universities- provide diverse and wide-ranging curricula from engineering to various clinical disciplines to produce CEs. Since clinical practice training is mandatory as a part of institute work, an important approach for CEs is gained by working in hospitals. The comprehensive curricula and the licensing system in Japan together serve to keep the appropriate quantity and quality of CEs. The Japan Association for Clinical Engineers(JACE) was established in February 1990; one of its aims is to support improvement of CEs throughout their careers through various lectures, seminars, on-the-job trainings, workshops, and an annual member meeting. New CEs can now take advantage of video e-learning. For junior CEs, there are seminars for hyperbaric oxygen therapy, blood purification, heart-lung bypass, respiratory therapy, operating room, intensive care unit, arrhythmia and aphaeresis related devices, as well as healthcare technology management(HTM). Also, the institutes provide a leadership seminar alongside this clinical practice training. Besides the licensing process, a proper certification system for CEs is a critical element in the clinical field. This enhances the ability of CEs to engage in more extensive duties and develop specialties, as well as to provide better healthcare. Associated societies provide certification with technology qualifications in dialysis, extracorporeal circulation, respiratory therapy, clinical medical devices, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and aphaeresis treatment. JACE also launched a unique certification system in 2010, with specializations in blood purification, arrhythmia, respiratory, and hyperbaric oxygen care. What is the difference between certification by the associated societies and that offered by JACE? Certification by the associated societies provides basic knowledge to pass specialty examinations. Certifications by JACE promote deeper knowledge to enhance clinical decisionmaking and to encourage wider experience. JACE also continues to investigate other certifications. In summary, Japan has introduced a national licensing system for keeping an intake of constant quality and quantity of CEs. Additionally, ongoing workshops and seminars stimulate in-depth knowledge and a higher level of medical care for patients. Together, a system of lifelong education for CEs has been built.

文摘The China-Japan relationship has swung between deterioration and improvement in the 21st century while Japanese leaders'cognition and Japanese public opinion remain operative at a deep level.The return of the bilateral relationship in 2018 to the normal development track was aided by Japan's shift toward coordination,China's re-shaped policy,and a boost by the Trump administration.Though the China-Japan relationship will continue improving in the short run,it is unlikely“deterioratiomimprovcment”cycles will end since too many glaring structural contradictions exist.While memories of their intense history and today's territorial issues linger,the fluctuation of Japan*s diplomatic options and weak Japanese public opinion for improved relations with China will continue the same cyclical,but not forward,momentum.

As part of a systematic policy framework, Japan supports ASEAN transregional and outside-regional connections with the Mekong subregion as focal point, pushes forward metropolitan interconnection of ASEAN countries with Jakarta a priority,promotes building infrastructure, develops rules, and constructs better external environments for connectivity, all while advancing its Partnership for Quality Infrastructure to attract ASEAN countries' cooperation.Because of Japan's economic interests and geopolitical strategy toward ASEAN countries, Japan's policy influences China's Belt and Road Initiative and China should properly respond to Japan's actions.
