Examples in each major taxonomic group include domestic cat, small Indian mongoose, red fox, goat, pig, rabbit, rats, house mouse, gray squirrel, nutria, starling, Indian common myna, red-vented bulbul, brown treesnake, red-eared slider, brown trout, tilapia, and grass carp. We briefly review some of these species and the types of damage they cause. We then review the basic types of methods used for control or eradication of each taxonomic group, including physical, chemical, biological, and cultural methods. We discuss some of the challenges in managing these species, including issues with the use of toxicants, land access, public attitudes, and monitoring difficulties. Finally, we list some ongoing research and future research needs, including improved detection methods, improved attractants, improved barriers, improved capture methods, fertility control, and risk assessment methods [Current Zoology 57 (5): 559-567, 2011].展开更多

Grain soybean(Glycine max(L.)Merr.)shows potential as a forage crop following its introduction from low to high latitudes due to in its growth phenotype.However,the application of this approach is impeded by the diver...Grain soybean(Glycine max(L.)Merr.)shows potential as a forage crop following its introduction from low to high latitudes due to in its growth phenotype.However,the application of this approach is impeded by the diverse ecological types of soybean,their adaptability to the introduction,and the uncertainty surrounding the growth phenotype post-introduction.This study introduced 24 grain soybean varieties from low-latitude regions(22-31°N)to the high-latitude northwestern Loess Plateau(39°N)between 2018 and 2019.The growth phenotypes were observed,and their forage productivity potential was assessed.All varieties displayed delayed flowering following cross-latitude introduction,with the vegetative growth phase of some varieties even exceeding their entire growth duration at their origin.Rapid dry matter accumulation rates indicated growth adaptation performance and formed the basis for soybean forage yield.Varieties from the tropical South China region exhibited significant yield advantages,with dry matter yields of 8.97-14.68 t ha^(-1)and crude protein yields of 1.44-2.51 t ha^(-1).Varieties HX3 and GX7 from this region demonstrated optimal growth adaptability and productivity in the cross-latitude environment,achieving the highest dry matter yields of 14.68 and 13.86 t ha^(-1),respectively.As a result,HX3 and GX7 are recommended for local farming systems to provide high-quality forage.The cross-latitude introduction of soybean is proposed as a viable and efficient strategy for forage improvement and application.展开更多
1.In recent years,climate change has led to drought and severe bark beetle infestations,affecting Norway spruce(Picea abies)across Europe,with detrimental consequences for forest owners,the forestry sector and associa...1.In recent years,climate change has led to drought and severe bark beetle infestations,affecting Norway spruce(Picea abies)across Europe,with detrimental consequences for forest owners,the forestry sector and associated industries.As a result,silviculture now faces the challenge of identifying tree species more resilient to these stressors to mitigate the impacts on forest management,forest-dependent economies and rural livelihoods.The North American Douglas-fir(Pseudotsuga menziesii)has emerged as a promising conifer species,better suited to future climate conditions and capable of producing high timber yields.2.Non-native tree species may affect native biodiversity,yet the impacts of Douglas-fir on native forest biodiversity are not clear.A comprehensive review evaluating the impact of Douglas-fir on faunal and floral biodiversity in European forests is lacking.3.Here,we present the results of a systematic literature review on Douglas-fir effects on native biodiversity,focusing on studies conducted in Europe.For arthropods,sufficient studies were found to do more detailed quantitative assessments.For fungi,birds,plants and soil fauna some studies existed,but only qualitative evaluations could be made.Other taxa were not investigated.4.In the present literature,the effects of Douglas-fir inclusion in stands on native biodiversity,compared to stands of solely native tree species,were mostly non-significant(78.6%,based on 32 studies).Positive effects were noted in 12%of cases,while negative effects were observed in 9.4%(total of 1,936 effects).Above-ground fauna was more extensively studied than below-ground fauna.Mechanisms proposed to explain taxa responses were often discussed but not always formally tested.For arthropods,there were varying effects on diversity between studies evaluating different scales(i.e.,tree-scale vs.stand-scale).In general,differences in effects depended on a range of factors,including stand composition and structure,season,and sampling site and period.5.Our review indicates limited evidence of adverse effects of Douglas-fir on biodiversity in European forests,highlighting a significant knowledge gap due to the scarcity of studies.Douglas-fir's impact on biodiversity likely varies depending on the forest type and management practices.Further research in diverse contexts is crucial to determine optimal levels of admixture and guide forest management.展开更多

This paper takes global manufacturing listed companies from 2010 to 2022 as samples and uses the difference-in-differences(DID)method to empirically examine the impact of the internationalization of ESG standards on t...This paper takes global manufacturing listed companies from 2010 to 2022 as samples and uses the difference-in-differences(DID)method to empirically examine the impact of the internationalization of ESG standards on the trade competitiveness of multinational enterprises and their mechanisms.The research finds that the internationalization of ESG standards significantly enhances the trade competitiveness of multinational manufacturing enterprises,and this effect is dynamic and sustainable.The mechanism analysis indicates that the internationalization of ESG standards exerts its influence through three pathways:reducing enterprise financing costs,promoting technological innovation,and enhancing brand reputation.The heterogeneity analysis shows that this effect is more significant in enterprises from developed countries,high-pollution industries,and larger enterprises.This paper provides micro-level evidence for understanding the economic consequences of the internationalization of ESG standards and offers policy implications for multinational enterprises to cope with the global ESG rule changes and enhance their trade competitiveness.展开更多

Objective:To explore the effect of implementing a time-sensitive incentive model combined with specialized rehabilitation nursing in patients with severe pneumonia and respiratory failure.Methods:Seventy-eight patient...Objective:To explore the effect of implementing a time-sensitive incentive model combined with specialized rehabilitation nursing in patients with severe pneumonia and respiratory failure.Methods:Seventy-eight patients with severe pneumonia and respiratory failure admitted from January 2024 to February 2025 were selected and randomly divided into two groups using a computer-based random drawing method.The control group(39 patients)received routine nursing,while the observation group(39 patients)received a time-sensitive incentive model combined with specialized rehabilitation nursing.Lung function and adverse emotional states were compared between the two groups.Results:After 2 weeks of nursing,the lung function of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(P<0.05),and the adverse emotional states of the observation group were lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Implementing a time-sensitive incentive model combined with specialized rehabilitation nursing in patients with severe pneumonia and respiratory failure can improve lung function and emotional state.展开更多
Despite high pneumococcal disease and economic burden in Indonesia and interest to introduce pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV), there were challenges in establishing a comprehensive strategy to accelerate and enabl...Despite high pneumococcal disease and economic burden in Indonesia and interest to introduce pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV), there were challenges in establishing a comprehensive strategy to accelerate and enable the introduction in country in the early 2010s. Starting in 2017, Clinton Health Access Initiative and partners supported the government of Indonesia with evidence-based decision-making and implementation support for introducing PCV into the routine immunization program. Indonesia has since accelerated PCV roll out, with nationwide reach achieved in 2022. On the path to PCV introduction, several challenges were observed that impacted decision making on whether and on how to optimally roll out PCV, resulting in significant introduction delays;including (1) a complex country context with a devolved government structure, fragmented domestic funding streams, and an imminent transition out of major immunization donor (Gavi) support;(2) strong preference to use domestically sourced products, with limited experience accessing global pooled procurement mechanism including for vaccines;and (3) concerns around programmatic feasibility and sustainability. This case study documents key insights into the challenges experienced and how those were systematically addressed to accelerate new vaccine introduction in Indonesia, with support from local and global stakeholders over time. The learnings would be beneficial for other countries yet to introduce critical new vaccines, in particular those with similar archetype as Indonesia e.g., middle-income countries with domestic manufacturing capacity and/or countries recently transitioning out of Gavi support.展开更多
This paper delves into and assesses the differences in biological traits and fruit nutritional composition of 3 varieties of Prunus humilis introduced from 2 different regions.Results showed that(i)the contents of pro...This paper delves into and assesses the differences in biological traits and fruit nutritional composition of 3 varieties of Prunus humilis introduced from 2 different regions.Results showed that(i)the contents of protein,total sugar,and calcium of No.5 variety were higher those of the other 2 varieties,which was recognized as the most suitable variety for fresh fruit;(ii)the comparison of leaf areas index and fruit shape index of 3 varieties shows that the fruit shape index and individual fruit weight of the introduced varieties were higher than those of the control,the diameter of individual fruit of the introduced varieties higher than that of the control indicated that they had a higher fruit hardness,more dry matter accumulation and better fruit quality,and that the introduction region was more suitable for scale-up of P.humilis;(iii)there was a positive correlation with the number of fruiting branches and there was a significant negative correlation with individual fruit weight,while the leaf area had a significant negative correlation with the number of fruiting branches.The introduced varieties can develop normally in the 2 testing areas,notably,No.5 variety performed better than No.4 and No.6.Improving management is the prerequisite for maintaining proper number of fruiting branches and high yield.展开更多
Aluminum alloy thin-walled structures are widely used in the automotive industry due to their advantages related to light weight and crashworthiness.They can be produced at room temperature by the electrohydraulic for...Aluminum alloy thin-walled structures are widely used in the automotive industry due to their advantages related to light weight and crashworthiness.They can be produced at room temperature by the electrohydraulic forming process.In the present study,the influence of the related parameters on the forming quality of a 6063 aluminum alloy sinusoidal corrugation tube has been assessed.In particular,the orthogonal experimental design(OED)and central composite design(CCD)methods have been used.Through the range analysis and variance analysis of the experimental data,the influence degree of wire diameter(WD)and discharge energy(DE)on the forming quality was determined.Multiple regression analysis was performed using the response surface methodology.A prediction model for the attaching-die state coefficient was established accordingly.The following optimal arrangement of parameters was obtained(WD=0.759 mm,DE=2.926 kJ).The attaching-die state coefficient reached the peak value of 0.001.Better optimized wire diameter and discharge energy for a better attaching-die state could be screened by CCD compared with OED.The response surface method in CCD was more suitable for the design and optimization of the considered process parameters.展开更多
Introduction: As new vaccines become available, countries must assess the relevance to introduce them into their vaccination schedules. Malawi has recently introduced several new vaccines and plans to introduce more. ...Introduction: As new vaccines become available, countries must assess the relevance to introduce them into their vaccination schedules. Malawi has recently introduced several new vaccines and plans to introduce more. This study was conducted to identify key factors that need to be considered when deciding to introduce a new vaccine and current challenges faced by low and middle income countries using Malawi as an example. Methodology: The study employed a desk review approach, examining published literature from various sources such as PubMed, Medline, and Google Scholar. Policy documents from organizations like the World Health Organization, GAVI the Alliance, and the Ministry of Health for Malawi were also included. A total of 99 articles and documents on new vaccine introduction, challenges of immunization, policy documents in immunization and health systems strengthening were included. The review focused on addressing five key areas critical to new vaccine introduction namely: the need for a vaccine, availability of the vaccine, safety and effectiveness of the vaccine, demand for the vaccine, and the prudent use of public or private funds. Results: Malawi considered the burden of cervical cancer and the significance of malaria in the country when introducing the HPV and malaria vaccines. The country opted for vaccines that can be handled by the cold chain capacity and available human resources. Despite that malaria vaccine and Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine trials were done in country, there are limited vaccine safety and efficacy trials conducted in Malawi, leading to a reliance on WHO-prequalified vaccines. Demand for newly introduced vaccines varied, with high demand for Oral Cholera Vaccine during a cholera outbreak, while demand for COVID-19 vaccines decreased over time. Although cost-effectiveness studies were limited in the country, 2 studies indicated that Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine and malaria vaccine would be cost effective. All these have been implemented despite having challenges like lack of accurate surveillance data, inadequate cold chain capacity, limited safety and efficacy vaccine clinical trials, political influence, and limited funding. Conclusion: Despite several challenges Malawi set a good example of the careful considerations required before introducing a new vaccine. The process involves data review, priority setting, precise planning, and consultation with stakeholders. Low-income countries should invest in vaccine safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness trials.展开更多

文摘1.In recent years,climate change has led to drought and severe bark beetle infestations,affecting Norway spruce(Picea abies)across Europe,with detrimental consequences for forest owners,the forestry sector and associated industries.As a result,silviculture now faces the challenge of identifying tree species more resilient to these stressors to mitigate the impacts on forest management,forest-dependent economies and rural livelihoods.The North American Douglas-fir(Pseudotsuga menziesii)has emerged as a promising conifer species,better suited to future climate conditions and capable of producing high timber yields.2.Non-native tree species may affect native biodiversity,yet the impacts of Douglas-fir on native forest biodiversity are not clear.A comprehensive review evaluating the impact of Douglas-fir on faunal and floral biodiversity in European forests is lacking.3.Here,we present the results of a systematic literature review on Douglas-fir effects on native biodiversity,focusing on studies conducted in Europe.For arthropods,sufficient studies were found to do more detailed quantitative assessments.For fungi,birds,plants and soil fauna some studies existed,but only qualitative evaluations could be made.Other taxa were not investigated.4.In the present literature,the effects of Douglas-fir inclusion in stands on native biodiversity,compared to stands of solely native tree species,were mostly non-significant(78.6%,based on 32 studies).Positive effects were noted in 12%of cases,while negative effects were observed in 9.4%(total of 1,936 effects).Above-ground fauna was more extensively studied than below-ground fauna.Mechanisms proposed to explain taxa responses were often discussed but not always formally tested.For arthropods,there were varying effects on diversity between studies evaluating different scales(i.e.,tree-scale vs.stand-scale).In general,differences in effects depended on a range of factors,including stand composition and structure,season,and sampling site and period.5.Our review indicates limited evidence of adverse effects of Douglas-fir on biodiversity in European forests,highlighting a significant knowledge gap due to the scarcity of studies.Douglas-fir's impact on biodiversity likely varies depending on the forest type and management practices.Further research in diverse contexts is crucial to determine optimal levels of admixture and guide forest management.

文摘This article first comprehensively analyzes the current development status of creative agriculture in Qinhuangdao City,pointing out that it has unique advantages in terms of resource endowments and cultural heritage.Although it has achieved certain results in recent years,it still faces challenges such as low brand awareness,single marketing channels,and insufficient innovation in retail models.In terms of marketing strategy innovation,this article proposes innovative ideas such as digital marketing,cultural IP marketing,and experiential marketing.Regarding retail model innovation,this article explores models such as online and offline integration,community group buying,and live streaming sales.This article presents an outlook for the future development of creative agriculture in Qinhuangdao City based on the research findings.It is believed that with technological advancements and consumption upgrades,creative agriculture has broad prospects.

文摘This paper takes global manufacturing listed companies from 2010 to 2022 as samples and uses the difference-in-differences(DID)method to empirically examine the impact of the internationalization of ESG standards on the trade competitiveness of multinational enterprises and their mechanisms.The research finds that the internationalization of ESG standards significantly enhances the trade competitiveness of multinational manufacturing enterprises,and this effect is dynamic and sustainable.The mechanism analysis indicates that the internationalization of ESG standards exerts its influence through three pathways:reducing enterprise financing costs,promoting technological innovation,and enhancing brand reputation.The heterogeneity analysis shows that this effect is more significant in enterprises from developed countries,high-pollution industries,and larger enterprises.This paper provides micro-level evidence for understanding the economic consequences of the internationalization of ESG standards and offers policy implications for multinational enterprises to cope with the global ESG rule changes and enhance their trade competitiveness.

文摘This paper focuses on the ideological and political construction of the“Introduction to High-Speed Railway”course in higher vocational colleges.Based on the national policy orientation of ideological and political education in courses and the talent demands of the high-speed railway industry,it comprehensively employs methods such as literature research and questionnaire surveys to analyze the current status and problems of ideological and political construction in the course.The research finds that there are issues such as insufficient in-depth exploration of ideological and political elements,inadequate teacher capabilities,monotonous teaching methods,and the absence of an evaluation system.In response to these problems,it proposes strategies such as deepening the exploration of ideological and political elements,enhancing teacher capabilities,innovating teaching methods,and improving the evaluation system.It aims to construct a collaborative system of“knowledge impartation+value guidance+practical education”,providing theoretical and practical references for the ideological and political construction of courses in higher vocational transportation-related majors.

文摘Objective:To explore the effect of implementing a time-sensitive incentive model combined with specialized rehabilitation nursing in patients with severe pneumonia and respiratory failure.Methods:Seventy-eight patients with severe pneumonia and respiratory failure admitted from January 2024 to February 2025 were selected and randomly divided into two groups using a computer-based random drawing method.The control group(39 patients)received routine nursing,while the observation group(39 patients)received a time-sensitive incentive model combined with specialized rehabilitation nursing.Lung function and adverse emotional states were compared between the two groups.Results:After 2 weeks of nursing,the lung function of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(P<0.05),and the adverse emotional states of the observation group were lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Implementing a time-sensitive incentive model combined with specialized rehabilitation nursing in patients with severe pneumonia and respiratory failure can improve lung function and emotional state.

文摘Despite high pneumococcal disease and economic burden in Indonesia and interest to introduce pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV), there were challenges in establishing a comprehensive strategy to accelerate and enable the introduction in country in the early 2010s. Starting in 2017, Clinton Health Access Initiative and partners supported the government of Indonesia with evidence-based decision-making and implementation support for introducing PCV into the routine immunization program. Indonesia has since accelerated PCV roll out, with nationwide reach achieved in 2022. On the path to PCV introduction, several challenges were observed that impacted decision making on whether and on how to optimally roll out PCV, resulting in significant introduction delays;including (1) a complex country context with a devolved government structure, fragmented domestic funding streams, and an imminent transition out of major immunization donor (Gavi) support;(2) strong preference to use domestically sourced products, with limited experience accessing global pooled procurement mechanism including for vaccines;and (3) concerns around programmatic feasibility and sustainability. This case study documents key insights into the challenges experienced and how those were systematically addressed to accelerate new vaccine introduction in Indonesia, with support from local and global stakeholders over time. The learnings would be beneficial for other countries yet to introduce critical new vaccines, in particular those with similar archetype as Indonesia e.g., middle-income countries with domestic manufacturing capacity and/or countries recently transitioning out of Gavi support.

文摘This paper delves into and assesses the differences in biological traits and fruit nutritional composition of 3 varieties of Prunus humilis introduced from 2 different regions.Results showed that(i)the contents of protein,total sugar,and calcium of No.5 variety were higher those of the other 2 varieties,which was recognized as the most suitable variety for fresh fruit;(ii)the comparison of leaf areas index and fruit shape index of 3 varieties shows that the fruit shape index and individual fruit weight of the introduced varieties were higher than those of the control,the diameter of individual fruit of the introduced varieties higher than that of the control indicated that they had a higher fruit hardness,more dry matter accumulation and better fruit quality,and that the introduction region was more suitable for scale-up of P.humilis;(iii)there was a positive correlation with the number of fruiting branches and there was a significant negative correlation with individual fruit weight,while the leaf area had a significant negative correlation with the number of fruiting branches.The introduced varieties can develop normally in the 2 testing areas,notably,No.5 variety performed better than No.4 and No.6.Improving management is the prerequisite for maintaining proper number of fruiting branches and high yield.

文摘Aluminum alloy thin-walled structures are widely used in the automotive industry due to their advantages related to light weight and crashworthiness.They can be produced at room temperature by the electrohydraulic forming process.In the present study,the influence of the related parameters on the forming quality of a 6063 aluminum alloy sinusoidal corrugation tube has been assessed.In particular,the orthogonal experimental design(OED)and central composite design(CCD)methods have been used.Through the range analysis and variance analysis of the experimental data,the influence degree of wire diameter(WD)and discharge energy(DE)on the forming quality was determined.Multiple regression analysis was performed using the response surface methodology.A prediction model for the attaching-die state coefficient was established accordingly.The following optimal arrangement of parameters was obtained(WD=0.759 mm,DE=2.926 kJ).The attaching-die state coefficient reached the peak value of 0.001.Better optimized wire diameter and discharge energy for a better attaching-die state could be screened by CCD compared with OED.The response surface method in CCD was more suitable for the design and optimization of the considered process parameters.
文摘Introduction: As new vaccines become available, countries must assess the relevance to introduce them into their vaccination schedules. Malawi has recently introduced several new vaccines and plans to introduce more. This study was conducted to identify key factors that need to be considered when deciding to introduce a new vaccine and current challenges faced by low and middle income countries using Malawi as an example. Methodology: The study employed a desk review approach, examining published literature from various sources such as PubMed, Medline, and Google Scholar. Policy documents from organizations like the World Health Organization, GAVI the Alliance, and the Ministry of Health for Malawi were also included. A total of 99 articles and documents on new vaccine introduction, challenges of immunization, policy documents in immunization and health systems strengthening were included. The review focused on addressing five key areas critical to new vaccine introduction namely: the need for a vaccine, availability of the vaccine, safety and effectiveness of the vaccine, demand for the vaccine, and the prudent use of public or private funds. Results: Malawi considered the burden of cervical cancer and the significance of malaria in the country when introducing the HPV and malaria vaccines. The country opted for vaccines that can be handled by the cold chain capacity and available human resources. Despite that malaria vaccine and Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine trials were done in country, there are limited vaccine safety and efficacy trials conducted in Malawi, leading to a reliance on WHO-prequalified vaccines. Demand for newly introduced vaccines varied, with high demand for Oral Cholera Vaccine during a cholera outbreak, while demand for COVID-19 vaccines decreased over time. Although cost-effectiveness studies were limited in the country, 2 studies indicated that Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine and malaria vaccine would be cost effective. All these have been implemented despite having challenges like lack of accurate surveillance data, inadequate cold chain capacity, limited safety and efficacy vaccine clinical trials, political influence, and limited funding. Conclusion: Despite several challenges Malawi set a good example of the careful considerations required before introducing a new vaccine. The process involves data review, priority setting, precise planning, and consultation with stakeholders. Low-income countries should invest in vaccine safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness trials.
