This study aimed to explore how core self-evaluations and gender influence interpersonal adjustment and depression risk.Participants were 1748 college students(female=59.73%,male=40.27%,mean age=18.71 years,SD=0.78 years). The students completed the Interpersonal Adjustment Scale for College Students,Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale, and Core Self-evaluation Scale. The results of Linear regression and mediated moderated effects modeling revealed that college students with higher interpersonal adjustment and core self-evaluation scores were at lower risk for depression.Core self-evaluation mediated the relationship between interpersonal adjustment and depression in college students for lower risk for depression.Gender moderated the relationship between interpersonal adjustment and core self-evaluation in college students for higher risk for depression in female students. From thesefindings,we conclude that interpersonal adjustment and core self-evaluation are significant for screening depression risk college students. Moreover, female students may benefit from targeted interventions aimed at their interpersonal adjustment for reducing their risk of depression. 展开更多

Background Dynamic interpersonal therapy(DIT)is a short-term psychodynamic psychotherapy that has been shown to effectively reduce depressive symptoms in patients with major depressive disorder(MDD).In DIT,the depressive symptoms are formulated as responses to impaired mentalisation.DIT aims to alleviate depressive symptoms by improving mentalising.Aims This study aimed to examine the effect of DIT on improving mentalising and the mediating effect of mentalising in changes in depressive symptoms. Methods Outpatients received either DIT combined with antidepressant medication treatment(DIT group)or antidepressant medication treatment alone(ADM group)for 16 weeks. The Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD),Patient Health Questionnaire(PHQ)and Reflective Functioning Questionnaire(RFQ)were used. The intention-to-treat principle, mixed linear models, multiple imputation,Pearson's correlation analysis and mediation analysis were conducted. The per-protocol principle was used as sensitivity analysis. Results The DIT group had significantly lower HAMD(least-squares(LS)mean difference=-3.756,p<0.001),PHQ(LS mean difference=-4.188,p<0.001),uncertainty about mental states in the RFQ(RFQ-U,LS mean difference=-2.116,p<0.001)and higher certainty about mental states in the RFQ(RFQ-C,LS mean difference=2.214,p=0.028)scores than the ADM group at post-treatment.The change in RFQ-C was marginally significantly correlated with the change in HAMD(r=-0.218,poretao=0.090),The change in RFQ-U was significantly correlated with the change in HAMD(r=-0.269,poroco-0.024)and the change in PHQ(r=-0.43,Peoretceo l<e0.001).When using RFQ-U as the mediating variable and PHQ as the dependent variable,a significant mediating effect was found(p=0.043,95% confidence interval 0.024 to 1.453).Conclusions The DIT group yielded better outcomes compared with the ADM group in reducing depressive symptoms and improving mentalising.Improvements in mentalising were associated with reductions in depressive symptoms. These findings support that mentalising may contribute to the therapeutic effects of DIT in MDD. 展开更多

The mental health issues of college students have become an increasingly prominent social problem, exerting severe impacts on their academic performance and overall well-being.Early identification of Interpersonal Sensitivity(IS)in students serves as an effective approach to detect psychological problems and provide timely intervention. In this study,958 freshmen from higher education institutions in Zhejiang Province were selected as participants. We proposed a Multi-Strategy Artemisinin Optimization(MSAO)algorithm by enhancing the Artemisinin Optimization(AO)framework through the integration of a group-guided elimination strategy and a two-stage consolidation strategy.Subsequently, the MSAO was combined with the Fuzzy K-Nearest Neighbor(FKNN)classifier to develop the bMSAO-FKNN predictive model for assessing college students’IS.The proposed algorithm’s efficacy was validated through the CEC 2017 benchmark test suite, while the model’s performance was evaluated on the IS dataset, achieving an accuracy rate of 97.81%.These findings demonstrate that the bMSAO-FKNN model not only ensures high predictive accuracy but also offers interpretability for IS prediction, making it a valuable tool for mental health monitoring in academic settings. 展开更多

Background:College students face significant academic and physiological changes, making them more susceptible to psychological issues such as depression,self-injury,and suicidal ideation.Feelings of defeat can exacerbate these risks by increasing academic stress. However, interpersonal relationships can moderate the impact of academic stress on students’mental health.Utilizing the presage–process–product model, this study aims to empirically investigate how feelings of defeat influence depression,self-injury,and suicidal ideation among college students.Additionally,it explores the mediating role of academic stress and the moderating role of various types of interpersonal relationships. Methods:A total of 1612 college students(750 females,862 males, mean age=19.64±0.62 years)were recruited through cluster sampling.Data were collected via offline questionnaires administered by a trained psychology teacher and a postgraduate student, ensuring high reliability with two examiners per class.Latent profile analysis(LPA)was used to examine the impact of defeat on mental health outcomes, while mediation analysis was conducted to assess the roles of academic stress and interpersonal relationships.Results:1.Defeat is identified as a significant risk factor for mental health issues among college students;2.Four distinct patterns of interpersonal relationships were identified:the interpersonal-relationship risk group, the father–child-relationship high-risk group, the general interpersonal-relationship group, and the superior interpersonal-relationship group;3.Academic stress partially mediates the relationship between defeat and mental health issues such as depression,self-injury,and suicidal ideation;4.Different interpersonal relationship models moderate the impact of academic stress on depression and suicidal ideation. Conclusion:Defeat is a significant risk factor for mental health problems in college students.Academic stress partially mediates the negative impact of defeat on mental health, while patterns of interpersonal relationships moderate this impact.Effective early prevention and intervention should focus on monitoring students’stress levels and fostering warm, positive parent–child relationships. 展开更多

Background Good interpersonal relationships can improve the negative mood and, to a certain extent, may help relieve dysmenorrhea symptoms. However, there has been no study examining the role of interpersonal relationships in dysmenorrhea and how they may interact with negative emotions. Aims To investigate the connection between negative affect and dysmenorrhea, and the role of interpersonal relationships plays in this relationship. Methods The Cox Menstrual Symptom Scale (CMSS), short-form of Depression Anxiety Stress Scale, Interpersonal Comprehensive Diagnostic Scale and UCLA (University of California at Los Angeles) Loneliness Scale were applied to 855 adolescent nursing students to collect information on severity and frequency of dysmenorrheal symptoms, negative emotions (including depression, anxiety and stress), interpersonal problems and subjective experience of loneliness among them, and the relationship among these variables was examined. Results (1) Both the severity and frequency of dysmenorrhea were positively correlated with negative emotions, loneliness experience and interpersonal problems, while negatively correlated with age at menarche.(2) The negative emotions, romantic relationship and menarche age, but not loneliness and interpersonal problems, significantly contributed to both the severity and frequency of dysmenorrhea.(3) Mediation analysis revealed that the effects of loneliness and interpersonal problems on dysmenorrhea were totally mediated by negative emotions. Conclusions This investigation indicates that the relationship between interpersonal relationships and dysmenorrhea is mediated by negative emotions. 展开更多

Exploring neural markers that predict trust behavior may help us to identify the cognitive process underlying trust decisions and to develop a new approach to promote interpersonal trust. It remains unknown how trust behavior may be predicted early in the decision process. We used electrophysiology to sample the brain activity while participants played the role of trustor in an iterative trust game. The results showed that during the trust generation stage, the trust condition led to higher frontocentral beta band activity related to cognitive inhibition compared to the distrust condition(item level). Moreover, individuals with higher frontocentral beta band activity were more likely to perform trust choices at the single-trial level(individual level).Furthermore, after receiving reciprocity feedback on trialn-1,compared to the betrayal feedback and the distrust choice, the frontocentral beta band oscillation had a stronger predictive effect regarding trust choices on trialn. These findings indicate that beta band oscillations during the decision generation stage contribute to subsequent trust choices. 展开更多
