The strategic delineation of the urban development boundary(UDB)is an effective initiative for efficient land resource allocation and for facilitating planned urban development.To align with sustainable development objectives,UDB definitions have evolved to reconcile urban development with ecological preservation.This study presents a UDB delineation framework from an integrated perspective that incorporates both demand-oriented and comprehensive constraints.Specifically,the urban construction land demand area was estimated based on population projections,meanwhile,the ecological red line(ERL)was delineated and integrated into the evaluation of the construction land suitability.Subsequently,with the demand area as the simulation target and unsuitable areas as comprehensive constraints,the UDB was delineated by simulating future land use patterns.The proposed framework was applied to Wuhan,a rapidly urbanizing city in central China,where the delineation of the UDB serves the dual purpose of managing the rapid expansion of built-up land and achieving a harmonious balance between urban development imperatives and ecological protection goals.Moreover,based on the results and analysis,policy implications for the rational spatial planning of Wuhan were proposed,encompassing the spatial patterns and scientific decision-making in ecological conservation and urban development.The results demonstrate that the efficacy of adopting a comprehensive perspective in delineating UDB effectively reconciles the competing needs of urban development and conservation.The framework and the policy insights derived in this study could inform spatial planning efforts not only in Wuhan but also in other cities facing the dilemma of urban development and ecological protection. 展开更多

To properly compute the ontological similarity, an ontological similarity network-based reasoning framework is proposed. It structurally integrates extension-based approach, intension-based approach, the similarity network-based reasoning to exploit the implicit similarity, and the feedback from the context to validate the similarity measures. A new similarity measure is also presented to construct concept similarity network, which scales the similarity using the relative depth of the least common super-concept between any two concepts. Subsequently, the graph theory, instead of predefined knowledge rules, is applied to perform the similarity network-based reasoning such that the knowledge acquisition can be avoided. The framework has been applied to text categorization and visualization of high dimensional data. Theory analysis and the experimental results validate the proposed framework. 展开更多

The framework extends the semantic web model and controls the dynamic security of semantic web services, such as trust, logic and reasoning. It includes four layers, that is, a trust entrance layer, a social intelligence layer, a transaction layer, and a TCP/IP security protocols layer. The trust entrance layer deals with trustable features from users. Social intelligence layer is responsible for logical questions for a semantic web. The transaction layer carries out transaction reasoning. And the TCP/IP security protocols layer ensures security communication. These layers can cooperate to build closed-security-ring with different security grades. The integrated security framework provides an integrated security method for semantic web flow so that it is universal for various semantic web technologies. 展开更多

This study describes an integrated framework in which basic aerospace engineering aspects(performance, aerodynamics, and structure) and practical aspects(configuration visualization and manufacturing) are coupled and considered in one fully automated design optimization of rotor blades. A number of codes are developed to robustly perform estimation of helicopter configuration from sizing, performance analysis, trim analysis, to rotor blades configuration representation. These codes are then integrated with a two-dimensional airfoil analysis tool to fully design rotor blades configuration including rotor planform and airfoil shape for optimal aerodynamics in both hover and forward flights. A modular structure design methodology is developed for realistic composite rotor blades with a sophisticated cross-sectional geometry. A D-spar cross-sectional structure is chosen as a baseline. The framework is able to analyze all realistic inner configurations including thicknesses of D-spar, skin, web, number and ply angles of layers of each composite part,and materials. A number of codes and commercial software(ANSYS, Gridgen, VABS, Pre VABS,etc.) are implemented to automate the structural analysis from aerodynamic data processing to sectional properties and stress analysis. An integrated model for manufacturing cost estimation ofcomposite rotor blades developed at the Aerodynamic Analysis and Design Laboratory(AADL),Aerospace Information Engineering Department, Konkuk University is integrated into the framework to provide a rapid and dynamic feedback to configuration design. The integration of three modules has constructed a framework where the size of a helicopter, aerodynamic performance analysis, structure analysis, and manufacturing cost estimation could be quickly investigated. All aspects of a rotor blade including planform, airfoil shape, and inner structure are considered in a multidisciplinary design optimization without an exception of critical configuration. 展开更多

We present a novel unsupervised integrated score framework to generate generic extractive multi- document summaries by ranking sentences based on dynamic programming (DP) strategy. Considering that cluster-based methods proposed by other researchers tend to ignore informativeness of words when they generate summaries, our proposed framework takes relevance, diversity, informativeness and length constraint of sentences into consideration comprehensively. We apply Density Peaks Clustering (DPC) to get relevance scores and diversity scores of sentences simultaneously. Our framework produces the best performance on DUC2004, 0.396 of ROUGE-1 score, 0.094 of ROUGE-2 score and 0.143 of ROUGE-SU4 which outperforms a series of popular baselines, such as DUC Best, FGB [7], and BSTM [10]. 展开更多

This study is important at times when domestic and country-based financial policies are directed at competing goals. The interaction of macro-prudential policies with other policies, in particular monetary policies and micro-prudential policies is crucial to address systemic risk involved. There is growing recognition that prudential policies tools interact and coordinate with one another. To utilize multiple instruments seems to provide a greater assurance of effectiveness by tackling risk from various angles. As such, this study also assesses the interactions of the policies. The traditional resource use structure in Himalaya has transformed considerably during the recent past, mainly owing to the growth of population and the resultant increased demand of natural resources in the region. This transformation in resource use practices is particularly significant in the densely populated tracts of Himalaya. As a result, cultivated land, forests, pastures and rangelands have been deteriorated and depleted steadily and significantly leading to their conversion into degraded and non-productive lands. These rapid land use changes have not only disrupted the fragile ecological equilibrium in the mountains through indiscriminate deforestation, degradation of land resources and disruption of the hydrological cycle, but also have significant and irreversible adverse impacts on the rural economy, society, livelihood and life quality of mountain communities. It has been observed that the agricultural production has declined, water sources are drying up fast due to decreased ground water recharge and a large number of villages are facing enormous deficit of critical resources, such as food, fodder, firewood and water, mainly due to unabated deforestation. As a result, the rural people, particularly the women, have to travel considerably long distances to collect fodder and firewood and to fetching water. It is therefore highly imperative to evolve a comprehensive and integrated land use framework for the conservation of the biophysical environment and sustainable development of natural resources in Himalaya. The land use policy would help local communities in making use of their natural resources scientifically and judiciously, and thus help in the conservation of the biophysical environment and in the increasing of the productivity of natural resources. The study indicates that conservation of forests and other critical natural resources through community participation, generation of alternative means of livelihood, and employment in rural areas can help increase rural income as well as restore ecosystem services. 展开更多

A heterogeneous wireless sensor network comprises a number of inexpensive energy constrained wireless sensor nodes which collect data from the sensing environment and transmit them toward the improved cluster head in a coordinated way. Employing clustering techniques in such networks can achieve balanced energy consumption of member nodes and prolong the network lifetimes.In classical clustering techniques, clustering and in-cluster data routes are usually separated into independent operations. Although separate considerations of these two issues simplify the system design, it is often the non-optimal lifetime expectancy for wireless sensor networks. This paper proposes an integral framework that integrates these two correlated items in an interactive entirety. For that,we develop the clustering problems using nonlinear programming. Evolution process of clustering is provided in simulations. Results show that our joint-design proposal reaches the near optimal match between member nodes and cluster heads. 展开更多

The traffic and user have significant impacts on the electric vehicle(EV)charging load but are not considered in the existing research.We propose a novel integrated simulation framework considering the traffic,the user,and power grid as well as the EV traveling,parking and charging based on cellular automaton(CA).The traffic is modeled by the traffic module of the proposed framework based on CA,while the power grid and user are modeled in the EV charging module.The traffic flow,user’s charging preference,user’s charging satisfaction,and the total supply capability(TSC)in the surveyed region are considered in the proposed framework.Two cases are carried out to show the interactions between the user and power grid.It is shown that the proposed framework can accurately simulate the interactions among traffic situation,user's behavior and TSC,which are significantly lacking in the existing research.The proposed framework is scalable in considering additional interrelated elements. 展开更多

Developing Regional Ecological Networks along the Grand Canal based on an Integrated Analysis Framework 被引量:2

As a complex social ecosystem network,the area along the Grand Canal has a prominent contradiction between the demand for economic development and the protection of natural resources,which means that there is an urgent need for ecological restoration and environmental protection.Using ArcGIS,Conefor,Linkage Mapper and other software platforms,this paper developed an integrated analysis framework,through loose coupling of the attribute-function-structure index system and a series of methods such as the least cost path,circuit theory and moving window search.Based on the framework,we resolve a series of scientific issues in developing regional ecological networks,such as the selection of ecological sources,the simulation of potential ecological corridors,the assessment of the importance of ecological sources and corridors,and the identification of key ecological nodes.Moreover,an overall conservation pattern of the regional ecological network is constructed.The results show that:1)A total of 88 important ecological sources are identified in the study area.The patches with high centrality values are mainly concentrated in the southern mountainous area and the areas with abundant rivers and lakes.2)A total of 138 important ecological corridors are identified,and they are not evenly distributed.Extremely important corridors mostly appear between important patches,and very important corridors are mainly distributed in the central area.3)Fifteen ecological pinch points are extracted,and they are mainly concentrated in the northern part of the study area and eastern Zhejiang Province.The barriers are mostly concentrated in the southern and northern parts of the study area.4)Combining the demands of ecological protection and socioeconomic development,we propose an overall ecological conservation pattern of"one axis,five sections,multiple cores and multiple nodes"to effectively guide future ecological restoration work.These results can provide a useful reference and spatial guidance for decision makers in terms of ecological restoration and cooperation on cross-regional ecological protection along the Grand Canal. 展开更多

To achieve sustainable development goals,georeferenced data and geographic information systems play a crucial role.Yet,the way in which these data and systems are summoned upon rests on positivist assumptions which overlook both epistemological and ethical concerns.This is epitomized by the integrated geospatial information framework(IGIF)of the United Nations,which,from the perspective of sustainable development,aims to provide guidance for the management of geoinformation and related tools,considering these as mirrors of the physical world.In this respect,the article has three main goals.First,it delivers an epistemological and ethical critique of the IGIF,by highlighting its internal tensions.Second,it suggests how the IGIF and similar geoinformation initiatives can benefit from an ethical reflection that allows to conduct georeferenced practices in a fair(er)way.Third,it designs an ethics assessment list for self-evaluating the ethical robustness of geoinformation initiatives as ecosystems. 展开更多

A steady increase in consumer demands, and severe constraints from both a somewhat damaged environment and newly installed government policies, require today's product design and development to be faster and more efficient than ever before, yet utilizing even fewer resources. New holistic approaches, such as total product life cycle modeling which embraces all aspects of a product's life cycle, are current attempts to solve these problems. Within the field of product design and modeling, feature technology has proved to be one very promising solution component. Owing to the tremendous increase in information technology, to transfer from low level data processing towards knowledge modeling and information processing is about to bring a change in almost every computerized application. From this viewpoint, current problems of both feature frameworks and feature systems are analyzed in respect to static and dynamic consistency breakdowns. The analysis ranges from early stages of designing (feature) concepts to final system implementation and application. Por the first time, an integrated view is given oil approaches, solutions and practical experience, with feature concepts and structures, providing both a feature framework and its implementation with sufficient system architecture and computational power to master a fair number of known consistency breakdowns, while providing for robust contexts for feature semantics and integrated models. Sustainable development has been a popular concept since 1987 and the issuance of the Brundtland report.A diverse number of sustainability assessment frameworks are available to examine the environmental performance of buildings and communities.With the current pace of climate change and the increasing threat of stronger,more frequent natural hazards,however,there are doubts that sustainability alone is an effective response.Sustainability assessment frameworks in recent years have been criticized for not incorporating hazard resilience.To better understand the current level of emphasis put on resilience to natural hazards in green building rating systems,this study aims to assess the level of resilience integration in existing sustainability assessment frameworks.The results demonstrate an overall lack of resilience coverage in the frameworks with only four frameworks,CASBEE,LEED,Green Globes,and DGNB having resilience coverage of 27.5%,15%,2.6%,and 1.1%respectively.This confirms a need for more systematic integration of resilience indicators into sustain-ability rating systems to create combined frameworks for sustainability and resilience. 展开更多

A framework is developed for applications of CAD/CAPP/CAM integration based on the STEP to reduce the complexity of integration implementation. Two application program interfaces (API), namely, application protocol API and application API, are developed. This paper proposes a combination of systems theoretic simulation methodology with the virtual reality technology as a basis for a component based virtual simulation framework. The created universal framework can be used in different fields, such as drive training, airplane fighting training, and so on. The result of the synergism is a powerful component based virtual simulation framework. After having briefly introduced the concepts and principles of the distributed component object, the paper describes a software development method based on components. Then a method of virtual simulation system modeling based on components is proposed, and the integrated framework supporting distributed virtual simulation and its key technologies are discussed at length. Our experiments indicate that the framework can be widely used in simulation fields such as arms antagonism, driving simulation and so on. 展开更多
