By combining a silicon-based lithium niobate modulator and a silicon-based Si3N4resonator with silicon-based photonics technology,a highly systematic design of a hybrid integrated optical gyroscope with enhanced recip...By combining a silicon-based lithium niobate modulator and a silicon-based Si3N4resonator with silicon-based photonics technology,a highly systematic design of a hybrid integrated optical gyroscope with enhanced reciprocity sensitivity and a dual micro-ring structure is proposed for the first time in this paper.The relationship between the device's structural parameters and optical performance is also analyzed by constructing a complete simulation link,which provides a theoretical design reference to improve the system's sensitivity.When the wavelength is 1550 nm,the conversion frequency of the dual-ring optical path is 50 MHz,the coupling coefficient is 0.2,and the radius R is 1000μm,the quality factor of the silicon-based Si_(3)N_(4)resonator is 2.58×10^(5),which is 1.58 times that of the silicon-on-insulator resonator.Moreover,the effective number of times the light travels around the ring before leaving the micro-ring is 5.93,which is 1.62 times that of the silicon-on-insulator resonator.The work fits the gyro dynamic output diagram,and solves the problem of low sensitivity at low speed by setting the phase offset.This results provide a basis for the further optimization of design and chip processing of the integrated optical gyroscope.展开更多
Gyroscopes are crucial components of inertial navigation systems,with ongoing development emphasizing miniaturization and enhanced accuracy.The recent advances in chip-scale optical gyroscopes utilizing integrated opt...Gyroscopes are crucial components of inertial navigation systems,with ongoing development emphasizing miniaturization and enhanced accuracy.The recent advances in chip-scale optical gyroscopes utilizing integrated optics have attracted considerable attention,demonstrating significant advantages in achieving tactical-grade accuracy.In this paper,a new,to our knowledge,integrated optical gyroscope scheme based on the multi-mode co-detection technology is proposed,which takes the high-Q microcavity as its core sensitive element and uses the multi-mode characteristics of the microcavity to achieve the measurement of rotational angular velocity.This detection scheme breaks the tradition of optical gyroscopes based on a single mode within the sensitive ring to detect the angular rotation rate,which not only greatly simplifies the optical and electrical system of the optical gyroscope,but also has a higher detection accuracy.The gyroscope based on this detection scheme has successfully detected the Earth's rotation on a 9.2 mm diameter microcavity with a bias instability as low as 1 deg/h,which is the best performance among the chip-scale integrated optical gyroscopes known to us.展开更多
Integrated photonic gyroscopes(IPGs)have emerged as a promising alternative to other gyroscopes,providing high sensitivity,compactness,and low power consumption,especially being more conducive to integration.In this r...Integrated photonic gyroscopes(IPGs)have emerged as a promising alternative to other gyroscopes,providing high sensitivity,compactness,and low power consumption,especially being more conducive to integration.In this review,we discuss recent advances in IPG technology and research,including the different types of IPGs currently being developed,such as waveguide spiral-based,ring laser gyroscope,and passive ring resonator based IPGs.We highlight the efforts dedicated to improve the stability,accuracy,and resolution of IPGs,such as using narrow-band laser diodes and using a high-stability,low-noise power supply system.Additionally,we provide an overview of the key performance measures of IPGs,including resolution,drifting,stability,noise cancellation as well as their interrelationships.Finally,we discuss challenges and future directions for the IPG research,including improving long-term stability and addressing sensitivity to shock and vibrations.展开更多
