The exploration of the coupling and coordination between urban innovation capability(IC)and industrial transformation(IF)serves as a novel perspective for interpreting the increasingly severe phenomenon of population ...The exploration of the coupling and coordination between urban innovation capability(IC)and industrial transformation(IF)serves as a novel perspective for interpreting the increasingly severe phenomenon of population shrinkage during the industrialization process.This study investigated the evolutionary characteristics of IC and IF in shrinking and growing cities in Northeast China from 2010 to 2020.It uses entropy weighted model,coupling coordination degree,the Dagum Gini coefficient,and geographic detectors to analyze the coordinated development of IC and IF in the context of population shrinkage.The study analyzed the spatiotemporal patterns and driving mechanisms for their coordinated development.The results show that:1)both urban IC and IF exhibited an overall positive trend during the study period.Shrinking cities depend more on IF to address the challenges of population shrinkage,while growing cities mainly rely on innovation-driven development.2)The coupling gap between IC and IF in shrinking and growing cities has widened over time,with the coordination level of shrinking cities steadily decreasing.Cities with serious disorder are concentrated in northern Heilongjiang Province,while most cities in Jilin Province experience moderate disorder.Liaoning Province,however,shows generally good coupling coordination.3)Human capital is the key factor driving coupling coordination in both types of cities.Shrinking cities rely on economic and financial development,with the‘repair-type’logic that emphasizes short-term economic growth and resource compensation.In contrast,the coupling of growing cities relies on basic support capabilities,with the‘optimization-type’logic focused on enhancing endogenous resilience and systemic coordination.Exploring the coordination between urban innovation capabilities and industrial transformation can provide a new perspective for research on population shrinkage,which holds certain theoretical and practical significance for implementing the new round of revitalization strategy in Northeast China.展开更多

Developing innovative capabilities in university students is essential for individual career success and broader societal advancement.This study introduces a predictive Feature Selection(FS)model named bWRBA-SVM-FS,wh...Developing innovative capabilities in university students is essential for individual career success and broader societal advancement.This study introduces a predictive Feature Selection(FS)model named bWRBA-SVM-FS,which combines an enhanced Bat Algorithm(BA)and Support Vector Machine(SVM).To enhance the optimization capability of BA,water follow search and random follow search are introduced to optimize the efficiency and accuracy of the feature subset search.Experimental validation conducted on the IEEE CEC 2017 benchmark functions and the talented innovative capacity dataset demonstrates the efficacy of the proposed method relative to peer and prominent machine learning models.The experimental results reveal that the predictive accuracy of the bWRBA-SVM-FS model is 97.503%,with a sensitivity of 98.391%.Our findings indicate significant predictors of innovation capacity,including project application goals,educational background,and interdisciplinary thinking abilities.The bWRBA-SVM-FS model offers effective strategies for talent selection in higher education,fostering the development of future research leaders.展开更多
Sustainable development is the central theme of modern global development.With the arrival of the urban era,the vulnerability and instability of rural areas have significantly increased,and rural sustainable developme...Sustainable development is the central theme of modern global development.With the arrival of the urban era,the vulnerability and instability of rural areas have significantly increased,and rural sustainable development faces serious challenges.To address these issues,the study took the Zaozhuang Innovation Demonstration Zone in China under the National Sustainable Development Agenda as a case,combined with economic,social and land use data during 2016-2020,and applied Granger causality test method to explore the theoretical and practical pathways of“innovation-driven rural sustainable development”.The results showed that rural sustainable development and economic sustainability displayed a trend of synergistic change,with“explosive”growth from 2018 to 2020.The social sustainability steadily increased from 2016 to 2020.Ecological and spatial sustainability continuously declined during the study period.Moreover,the rural innovation capacity of the Zaozhuang Innovation Demonstration Zone displayed rapid growth during 2016-2020.Although the rural innovation capacity of the Zaozhuang Innovation Demonstration Zone has rapidly improved,it has a weak driving effect on rural sustainable development and economic sustainability.There are two primary challenges that must be overcome to ensure the rural sustainable development of the Zaozhuang Innovation Demonstration Zone.The first challenge is the imbalance among the multi-dimensional relationships in the process of rural sustainable development,and the second challenge is the weakening of rural innovation capacity to drive rural sustainable development.To overcome these challenges,this study proposed a systematic pathway for rural sustainable development in the Zaozhuang Innovation Demonstration Zone from multidimensions,such as policy actions,technologies,projects,and institutional guarantees,and formed a universal and representative“Zaozhuang model”.This study expands the theoretical foundation of rural sustainable development and provides theoretical and practical support for innovation-driven rural sustainable development.展开更多

Clusters efficiently pool and d...Today, clusters based on concentrations of small-and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) are widely acknowledged as the driving force for industrialization and urbanization in rural China. Clusters efficiently pool and distribute elements of production, and provide better division among small specialized firms in given local regions. Economic agglomerations are the typical spatial structures of clusters. Clusters drive forward industrialization, and this path of industrialization in China is similar to the industrialization wave based on industrial districts( IDs or clusters) with concentrations of SMEs that started in west European countries, particularly in Italy and Germany, since the 1960s. However, in contrast to developed EU countries, Chinese clusters are mainly concentrations of labor-intensive and low-tech industries, without independent intellectual property fights or leading brands. China's industrial clusters' capaciW for innovation is rather weak. Chinese clusters participate in the international trade and world division of production from the node of processing, stopping at the lower end of Global Value Chain of industrial production. By reviewing Zhejiang clusters, this study examines the innovation capacity of Chinese clusters in the process of development and industrialization, so as to provide advice on the future development of Chinese clusters.展开更多

The 12th Five-year Plan period (2011-2015) will witness the arrival of a new stage of systematic innovation in philosophical and social science research: innovation in individual opinions and conclusions will develop into innovation in fi.mdamental theories, theoretical systems and methodologies; the innovation of individual disciplines and perspectives will give way to the rise of new groups of subjects and to innovation based on synthesized and interdisciplinary studies; and disorderly competition will be replaced by orderly progress. As an important component in the construction of an innovative nation, the building of an innovation system and innovation capacity is as important in philosophy and social sciences as in their counterpart, the natural sciences; they are like the two wings of a bird or two wheels of a cart. Our innovation plan for philosophy and social sciences should strengthen "national consciousness," establish "national aims" and launch "national projects."
