The γ induced polymerization of styrene in the presence of polar additives such as tributylphosphate, triethyl amine and ethanol was studied at dose rate of 5.0×10^(17) eV/ml. min. The re-sult shows that radiation induced polymerization of styrene was sensitized by the three kinds ofadditives at the approximate same rate and the experimental results were in agreement with thetheoretical calculation of WAS equation. The cause of sensitization is due to the proton transfer. 展开更多

Transition metal compound(TMC)/carbon hybrids,as prospering electrocatalyst,have attracted great attention in the field of oxygen reduction reaction(ORR).Their morphology,structure and composition often play a crucial role in determining the ORR performance.In this work,we for the first time report the successful fabrication of porous core-shell Fe_(1-x)S@N,S co-doped carbon(Fe_(1-x)S@NSC-t,t represents etching time)by a novel in-situ self-template induced strategy using Fe3O4 nanospheres and pyrrole as sacrificial self-template.The post-polymerization of pyrrole can be accomplished by the Fe^(3+)released through the etching of Fe_(3)O_(4) by HCl acid.Thus,the etching time has a significant effect on the morphology,structure,composition a nd ORR performance of Fe_(1-x)S@NSC-t.Based on the cha racterizations,we find Fe_(1-x)S@NSC-24 can realize effective and balanced combination of Fe_(1-x)S and NSC,possessing porous core-shell architecture,optimized structure defect,specific surface area and doped heteroatoms configurations(especially for pyridinic N,graphitic N and Fe-N structure).These features thus lead to outstanding catalytic activity and cycling stability towards ORR.Our work provides a good guidance on the design of TMC/carbon-based electrodes with unique stable morphology and optimized structure and composition. 展开更多

A kind of core(SBR)-shell(PS)particles was synthesized by using SBR latex and grafting with St under gammairradiation.The influences of absorbed dose and dose rate on the grafting yield of PS on SBR seed latex have beeninvestigated.Results show there was a transition layer which contained the SBR/PS graft copolymer between the SBR coreand PS shell.Dynamic laser scattering(DLS)and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC)results confirm the existence ofgrafted polystyrene,and transmission electron microscope(TEM)observation verifies the core-shell structure of SBR-g-PSlatex.Such SBR/PS core-shell latex could be processed easily to ultrafine rubber powders by using spray drying andexpected to be used as an impact modifier for PS. 展开更多

Highly soluble multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) were prepared by radiation-induced free radical graft polymerization of vinyl acetate (VAc) onto pristine MWNT surfaces. High resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), Fourier transform infrared (FT1R) spectroscopy, and micro-Raman spectroscopy were used to confirm that poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) had been successfully grafted onto the surface of the MWNTs. The effects of experimental parameters on the degree of graft- ing (DG) of PVAc were also investigated, including adsorbed dose, dose rate, initial monomer concentration, and solvents. The grafted MWNTs (MWNTs-g-PVAc) exhibited good solubility in common organic solvents at high mass fraction. In addition, a superhydrophobic composite membrane could be readily fabricated by vacuum filtration of MWNTs-g-PVAc onto a support- ing membrane, as was confirmed by water contact angle testing and visualization by scanning electron microscopy. 展开更多

Poly(N,N-dimethyl acrylamide)-block-poly(styrene)-block-poly(N,N-dimethyl acrylamide)(PDMAc-bPSt-b-PDMAc)amphiphilic triblock copolymer micro/nano-objects were synthesized through reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer(RAFT)dispersion polymerization of St mediated with poly(N,Ndimethyl acrylamide)trithiocarbonate(PDMAc-TTC-PDMAc)bi-functional macromolecular RAFT agent.It is found that the morphology of the PDMAc-b-PSt-b-PDMAc copolymer micro/nano-objects like spheres,vesicles and vesicle with hexagonally packed hollow hoops(HHHs)wall can be tuned by changing the solvent composition.In addition,vesicles with two sizes(600 nm,264 nm)and vesicles with HHHs features were also synthesized in high solid content systems(30 wt%and 40 wt%,respectively).Besides,as compared with typical AB diblock copolymers(A is the solvophilic,stabilizer block,and B is the solvophobic block),ABA triblock copolymers tend to form higher order morphologies,such as vesicles,under similar conditions.The finding of this study provides a new and robust approach to prepare block copolymer vesicles and other higher order micelles with special structure via PISA. 展开更多

Phase separation time/temperature dependence of thermoplastics-modified thermosetting systems

The cure-induced phase separation processes of various thermoplastics(TP)-modified thermosetting systems which show upper critical solution temperature(UCST)or lower critical solution temperature(LCST)were studied with emphasis on the temperature dependency of the phase separation time and its potential application in the cure time-temperature processing window.We found that the phase separation time/temperature relationship follows the simple Arrhenius equation.The cure-induced phase separation activation energy E_(a)(ps)generated from the linear fitting of the Arrhenius equation is irrelevant to the detection means of phase separation time.We also found that E_(a)(ps)is insensitive to TP content,TP molecular weight and curing rate,but it changes with the cure reaction kinetics and the chemical environment of the systems.With the established phase separation time-temperature dependence relation,we can easily establish the whole cure time-temperature transformation(TTT)diagram with morphology information which is a useful map for the TP/TS composites processing industry. 展开更多
