文摘Chain graphs are{2K_(2),C_(3),C_(5)}-free graphs.Balaban index and sum-Balaban index are two important topological indices. In this paper,we concentrate on the subclass of bicyclic connected chain graphs, identifying the extremal graphs that exhibit the minimum or maximum Balaban index and sum-Balaban index within this class. Moreover,we provide a systematic ordering of all bicyclic connected chain graphs according to the magnitude of their Balaban index and sum-Balaban index.
文摘This commentary critically appraises the study by Li et al which pioneered the exploration of the triglyceride-glucose(TyG)index as a prognostic marker in hepatitis B virus-related advanced hepatocellular carcinoma patients undergoing combined camrelizumab and lenvatinib therapy. While we acknowledge the study’s clinical relevance in proposing an easily accessible metabolic biomarker,we delve into the mechanistic plausibility linking insulin resistance to immunotherapy response and angiogenic inhibition. We further critically examine the methodological limitations, including the retrospective design, the populationspecific TyG cut-off value, and unaddressed metabolic confounders. We highlight the imperative for future research to validate its utility across diverse etiologies and treatment settings, and to unravel the underlying immunometabolic pathways.

文摘Using unscientific agricultural methods can harm human health by increasing harmful nitrate(NO_(3)−)levels in groundwater,as observed in the Yinchuan Plain. This research utilized hydrochemical data, dual isotopic data, the MixSIAR model, and the uncertainty index(UI90)to detect the potential sources of groundwater NO_(3)−,track NO_(3)−conversion processes, and calculate the apportionment of each groundwater NO_(3)−source in the agricultural lands of the Yinchuan Plain. The results show that soil organic nitrogen accounted for 49.4%,and N-fertilizers contributed 30.4%,making them the two main contributors to NO_(3)-contamination in groundwater.Long-term N-fertilization enhances soil organic nitrogen accumulation, resulting in NO_(3)−leaching into groundwater during irrigation. The highest uncertainty regarding soil organic nitrogen and N-fertilizers may stem from changes in groundwater flow patterns, unbalanced N-fertilization,irrigation,and precipitation.Denitrification is the dominant process, resulting in lower NO_(3)−concentrations in groundwater in most areas. As a result, most groundwater in the Yinchuan Plain is generally safe for human consumption, except the specific areas in Qingtongxia City and Wuzhong City.Flood irrigation can increase the leaching of NO_(3)−into groundwater, and the repeated recharge of groundwater contaminated with high NO_(3)−levels could also be a potential source of NO_(3)−contamination in agricultural areas. This research provides scientific guidance for sustainable groundwater management in the Yinchuan Plain, mitigating the risk of groundwater NO_(3)−pollution.

文摘AIM:To investigate the causal effect of obesity on cataract risk and explores the potential mediating roles of metabolites using Mendelian randomization(MR).METHODS:Summary-level data from large-scale genome-wide association studies to examine the relationship between obesity and cataract were utilized.Obesity-related traits, including body mass index(BMI),waist-to-hip ratio(WHR),and waist circumference(WC).A two-sample MR approach was employed to assess the causal effect of obesity on cataract risk, while potential mediators were identified from suitable genome-wide association studies(GWAS)datasets.Additionally,a metabolic pathway analysis was conducted.RESULTS:An increase of 1 standard deviation(SD)in BMI,WHR,and WC was associated with a significantly higher risk of cataract(BMI:odds ratio(OR)1.0017,95%confidence interval(CI):1.0001-1.0032,P=0.0320;WHR:OR 1.0029,95%CI:1.0006-1.0051,P=0.0129;WC:OR 1.0020,95%CI:1.0001-1.0038,P=0.0390].These associations remained robust after adjusting for confounding factors in multivariable MR analysis.Furthermore,a two-step MR analysis identified eight potential metabolic mediators, with one mediator showing a significant causal role in the relationship between obesity and cataract.CONCLUSION:This work highlights the importance of addressing obesity as a modifiable risk factor for cataracts, particularly through metabolic pathways.
