Controlled nuclear fusion represents a significant solution for future clean energy,with ion cyclotron range of frequency(ICRF)heating emerging as one of the most promising technologies for heating the fusion plasma.This study primarily presents a self-developed 2D ion cyclotron resonance antenna electromagnetic field solver(ICRAEMS)code implemented on the MATLAB platform,which solves the electric field wave equation by using the finite element method,establishing perfectly matched layer(PML)boundary conditions,and post-processing the electromagnetic field data.This code can be utilized to facilitate the design and optimization processes of antennas for ICRF heating technology.Furthermore,this study examines the electric field distribution and power spectrum associated with various antenna phases to investigate how different antenna configurations affect the electromagnetic field propagation and coupling characteristics. 展开更多

The electromagnetic wave propagations and their coupling characteristics in magnetized plasma near the antenna of ion cyclotron range of frequencies(ICRF)is studied based on self-developed 3DFEM-IA code.This code effectively resolves the three-dimensional(3D)geometry and the electromagnetic field using the finite element method.Our findings reveal that the distributions of electromagnetic fields and energy flow density significantly depend on the antenna phases,surface current density on the antenna straps,and background plasma density.Notably,the non-uniform surface current density on the antenna straps,resulting from the presence of induced currents,contributes to a reduction in coupling power within the edge plasma.Furthermore,the calculated coupling impedance increases with plasma density,corroborating well with experimental measurements. 展开更多

A new loop and fold wave-guide ion cyclotron resonance frequency (ICRF) antenna with a power output of 3 MW, which can operate at a frequency in the range of 30 MHz to 110 MHz, was designed. The design of key components of the new ICRF antenna and the charac- ters of the new,.]~rototype ICRF antenna are presented. The thermo-mechanical analysis of both the Faraday shield and the current straps was conducted, and the stresses due to heat loads are studied in detail with different cooling-water velocities considered. In addition, the movability of prototype ICRF antenna under vacuum condition by the driving system was tested. An engineer- ing commissioning was successfully performed on the prototype ICRF antenna using the original transmitter. The results are close to the expected. 展开更多

A method using the rings of oxygen-free copper as the cushion and macro- beam plasma arc welding is applied in the assembly to protect the ceramic from being damaged during welding. The ICRF heating is planned to operate in a frequency range of 30 MHz to 80 MHz and hence the antenna geometry is optimized for 55 MHz. The design is based on the conventional strap antenna element. The coupling properties of the antenna are calculated with a slab model of the plasma for the antenna simulation. This antenna consists of four toroidally spaced radiating straps. The electrical characteristics of the new antenna are estimated by using a three-dimensional electromagnetic commercial code. The experimental advanced superconducting Tokamak has two suits of ion cyclotron radio frequency heating systems, in which the two antennas are of different structures. Their performance is assessed and compared by CST microwave studio. The radiating capacity of antennas and the arcing around them are estimated. The impurity release is analyzed by the radio frequency(RF) potential in the plasma sheath. The simulation results show that the radiating capacity for the folded antenna(I-port) is better than those for the double loops antenna(B-port). However,the folded antenna is worse than the double loops antenna in terms of breakdown. Moreover, the impurity production is relevant to spectrum shaping. The RF potential at(0, π,π, 0) phasing with the peak of spectrum k//= 8.5 m^(-1)is lower than the one with other phases. The impurity is reduced obviously when the folded antenna is powered with(0, π, π, 0) phasing. 展开更多

On the experimental advanced superconducting tokamak(EAST), a pair of voltage and current probes(V/I probes) is installed on the ion cyclotron radio frequency transmission lines to measure the antenna input impedance,... On the experimental advanced superconducting tokamak(EAST), a pair of voltage and current probes(V/I probes) is installed on the ion cyclotron radio frequency transmission lines to measure the antenna input impedance, and supplement the conventional measurement technique based on voltage probe arrays. The coupling coefficients of V/I probes are sensitive to their sizes and installing locations, thus they should be determined properly to match the measurement range of data acquisition card. The V/I probes are tested in a testing platform at low power with various artificial loads. The testing results show that the deviation of coupling resistance is small for loads RL?>?2.5 Ω, while the resistance deviations appear large for loads RL?<?1.5 Ω, which implies that the power loss cannot be neglected at high VSWR. As the factors that give rise to the deviation of coupling resistance calculation, the phase measurement error is the more significant factor leads to deleterious results rather than the amplitude measurement error. To exclude the possible ingredients that may lead to phase measurement error, the phase detector can be calibrated in steady L-mode scenario and then use the calibrated data for calculation under H-mode cases in EAST experiments. 展开更多

In large helical device (LHD), antenna loadings are different for minority ion cyclotron heating (MICH with 38.47 MHz) and mode-converted ion Bernstein wave heating (MC-IBW with 28.4 MHz), and it is necessary to improve antenna loading with low heating efficiency to avoid arching on transmission line. To design a new ion cyclotron range of frequencies (ICRF) antenna in LHD, calculation for a simple antenna model is conducted using three-dimensional electrical magnetic code (high frequency structure simulator, HFSS) for an water loading as an imaginary plasma with low heating efficiency. At resonant frequencies, antenna loading is sensitive to strap width, and resonant frequencies are strongly related to strap height. There is no differences of RF current profile on the strap surface between resonant frequency and non-resonant frequency. The strap should be perpendicularly placed against the magnetic field line, since Faraday-shield angle will lead to a decrease in the effective antenna height. 展开更多
