The present paper reviews the vibro-acoustic modelling of extruded aluminium train floor structures including the state-of-the-art of its industrial applications, as well as the most recent developments on mid-frequency mod- elling techniques in general. With the common purpose to predict mid-frequency vibro-acoustic responses of stiffened panel structures to an acceptable accuracy at a reasonable computational cost, relevant techniques are mainly based on one of the following three types of mid-frequency vibro- acoustic modelling principles: (1) enhanced deterministic methods, (2) enhanced statistical methods, and (3) hybrid deterministic/statistical methods. It is shown that, although recent developments have led to a significant step forward in industrial applicability, mature and adequate prediction tech- niques, however, are still very much required for solving sound transmission through, and radiation from, extruded aluminium panels used on high-speed trains. Due to their great potentials for predicting mid-frequency vibro-acoustics of stiffened panel structures, two of recently developed mid-frequency modelling approaches, i.e. the so-called hybrid finite element-statistical energy analysis (FE-SEA) and hybrid wave-based method- statistical energy analysis (WBM-SEA), are then recapitulated. 展开更多

Numerical solution of the Saint-Venant equations by an efficient hybrid finite-volume/finite-difference method 被引量:3

A computationally efficient hybrid finite-volume/finite-difference method is proposed for the numerical solution of SaintVenant equations in one-dimensional open channel flows. The method adopts a mass-conservative finite volume discretization for the continuity equation and a semi-implicit finite difference discretization for the dynamic-wave momentum equation. The spatial discretization of the convective flux term in the momentum equation employs an upwind scheme and the water-surface gradient term is discretized using three different schemes. The performance of the numerical method is investigated in terms of efficiency and accuracy using various examples, including steady flow over a bump, dam-break flow over wet and dry downstream channels, wetting and drying in a parabolic bowl, and dam-break floods in laboratory physical models. Numerical solutions from the hybrid method are compared with solutions from a finite volume method along with analytic solutions or experimental measurements. Comparisons demonstrates that the hybrid method is efficient, accurate, and robust in modeling various flow scenarios, including subcritical, supercritical, and transcritical flows. In this method, the QUICK scheme for the surface slope discretization is more accurate and less diffusive than the center difference and the weighted average schemes. 展开更多

A hybrid numerical method for the hydraulic modeling of a curtain-walled dissipater of reflected waves from breakwaters is presented. In this method, a zonal approach that combines a nonlinear weakly dispersive wave (Boussinesq-type equation) method and a Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) method is used. The Boussinesq-type equation is solved in the far field to describe wave transformation in shallow water. The RANS method is used in die near field to resolve the turbulent boundary layer and vortex flows around the structure. Suitable matching conditions are enforced at the interface between the viscous and the Boussinesq region. The Coupled RANS and Boussinesq method successfully resolves the vortex characteristics of flow in the vicinity of the structure, while unexpected phenomena like wave re-reflection are effectively controlled by lengthening the Boussinesq region. Extensive results on hydraulic performance of a curtain-walled dissipater and the mechanism of dissipation of reflected waves are presented, providing a reference for minimization of die breadth of the water chamber and for determination of the submerged depth of the curtain wall. 展开更多

Magnetorheological(MR)dampers show superior performance in reducing rotor vibration,but their high nonlinearity will cause nonsynchronous response,resulting in fatigue and instability of rotors.Herein,we are devoted to the investigation of the nonlinear characteristics of MR damper mounted on a flexible rotor.First,Reynolds equations with bilinear constitutive equations of MR fluid are employed to derive nonlinear oil film forces.Then,the Finite Element(FE)model of rotor system is developed,where the local nonlinear support forces produced by MR damper and its coupling effects with the rotor are considered.A hybrid numerical method is proposed to solve the nonlinear FE motion equations of the MR damper-rotor system.To validate the proposed model,a rotor test bench with two dual-coil MR dampers is constructed,upon which experimental studies on the dynamic characteristics of MR damper-rotor system are carried out.The effects of different system parameters,including rotational speed,excitation current and amount of unbalance,on nonlinear dynamic behaviors of MR damper-rotor system are evaluated.The results show that the system may appear chaos,jumping,and other complex nonlinear phenomena,and the level of the nonlinearity can be effectively alleviated by applying suitable excitation current and oil supply pressure. 展开更多

Over the past twenty years, there has been a growing interest in the development of numerical modelsthat can realistically capture the progressive failure of rock masses. In particular, the investigation ofdamage development around underground excavations represents a key issue in several rock engineeringapplications, including tunnelling, mining, drilling, hydroelectric power generation, and the deepgeological disposal of nuclear waste. The goal of this paper is to show the effectiveness of a hybrid finitediscreteelement method (FDEM) code to simulate the fracturing mechanisms associated with theexcavation of underground openings in brittle rock formations. A brief review of the current state-of-theartmodelling approaches is initially provided, including the description of selecting continuum- anddiscontinuum-based techniques. Then, the influence of a number of factors, including mechanical and insitu stress anisotropy, as well as excavation geometry, on the simulated damage is analysed for threedifferent geomechanical scenarios. Firstly, the fracture nucleation and growth process under isotropicrock mass conditions is simulated for a circular shaft. Secondly, the influence of mechanical anisotropy onthe development of an excavation damaged zone (EDZ) around a tunnel excavated in a layered rockformation is considered. Finally, the interaction mechanisms between two large caverns of an undergroundhydroelectric power station are investigated, with particular emphasis on the rock mass responsesensitivity to the pillar width and excavation sequence.
